One of my favorite aspects about Kratos’ character here is how he becomes attached to Pandora, and hearing his voice become more earnest as he says “I will find another way.” It’s like he becomes a completely different person when he’s around someone he considers his child. This scene hits harder after you’ve played Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, where you really get a feel for everything he’s lost.

Sure, his hatred for Zeus was justified, and to an extent the other gods, but seeing how he essentially genocided Greece without a care and needlessly tortured invididules was getting annoying. Seeing him have some humanity and seeing Pandora as a daughter figure made him more interesting than just the raging hulk
To be fair Zeus was a god among the gods, he created the blade of olympus, started the downfall of the titans, was able to match Kratos physically and was able to heal from a fight agaisn’t Kratos in just a few hours(GOW 2 Zeus fight was only a few hours before the start of GOW 3)

@Jesse Jenkins his rage made him blind to facts and other Gods used him for their benefit. He realized that much later in life. That's why he says to Atreus : "I killed many who were *deserving* and many who were not". I don't think he particularly feels bad for killing Zeus. He just regrets that it came to that because Zeus was his father, his flesh and blood. He doesn't want Atreus to be like him, filled with rage and hatred.
18:04 A lot of people complained that God of war 3's ending was bad because "oh he killed Zeus with hope? I thought he was forever angry and full of vengeance, what a cop out" they just didn't get this scene. Kratos is DONE, as in every bit of anger and resentment literally just melted away once he saw Zeus's corpse. To him it was over and he had no reason to keep being angry, Greece was destroyed and Olympus was no more. He basically stopped caring by that point and just wanted to go hide away somewhere. Hence why hope is what he used to defeat Zeus, because everything else was lost.
And it's what she said to him when they were going to the box, that hope is what people use when everything else is lost, he didn't believe in hope and saw it as it would get you killed but in the end he used hope and won
I absolutely love Ragnarök, but man, Odin and Thor aren’t shit compared to Zeus. This game is 12 years old and this fight is still way more epic and badass.

Thor uses thunderbolts and lightning himself, so he would be immune and unfazed to Zeus's only form of offensive attack, which is practically the same thing. Zeus is heavily reliant on the elements and not a warrior like Thor is. It would be a good fight, but Thor would smash Zeus's head off his neck. Zeus talks a lot of shit, and that is his only real strength. Thor's greatest foe easily eclipses Zeus in strength and mass. Zeus had a lot of trouble with a monster and ended up trapping him under a mountain.

All the gods are immortal, lord wise but they are like necromorohs from dead space, you don’t actually kill them. And gods take hundreds or thousands of years to be reborn into themselves. But the death of Zeus means the death of all gods, but kratos isn’t an actual god, he’s still a man but was given the power of a god so he technically isn’t one. That’s why he didn’t die in the end, but also the reason why the chains came off of his arm is due to the god of gods being killed. All the power was gone, meaning all the curses, all the magic, every bit of it, so the blade of Olympus shouldn’t work but it can gain power through a god meaning another god that could say, be from the Norse mythology “wink wink” but the blades still have power due to the fact that they were made from fire and infused with a god’s power and kratos’s rage. That’s why they still work is because of kratos’ rage in god of war 4, but they aren’t in their prime though
I like how you see the Fear drain out of Zeus when Kratos slams him, letting you know that perhaps Zeus had come to his senses right before Kratos pummels him to death.

After coming back here I just realized how powerful Zeus was in terms of not only magical but physical strength too. Kratos was at his prime in this game and yet in 16:40 he struggled in a contest of strength with Zeus although eventually he won. Remember that Magni was the Norse God of Strength. It was told that Magni was even stronger than Thor and yet Kratos who was not in his prime anymore still bested him pretty easily. It's just cool that this means Zeus really was the strongest god. But who knows, maybe Odin with his magical crap can be an even tougher opponent. I honestly can't wait for the next game. Also, Thor is definitely fucked. Edit: It's been confirmed by Cory Barlog that Kratos gets stronger. It's just that he's holding back it seems. So my statement about Kratos not in his prime is invalid my bad.

Man this is what Ragnarok was missing. Multi-phase, multi-staged and epic as fuck. It was a great game, I personally enjoyed the whole thing but the fight with Odin was a bit of a let down to say the least. I get it, he's not Zeus and we haven't had 5 whole games leading up to the confrontation, but his fight still felt lackluster. It was just round 1, bit of dialouge, round 2. The whole thing was over in about 10-15 minutes. Unlike the Zeus fight, it doesn't convey the sense that this guy is so powerful, and there's a reason everyone submits out of fear. Whereas this fight, Zeus is durable as fuck, taking hits just as hard as the ones he deals out, and yet he keeps coming back for more. Not to mention pretty much every old school GOW fight was the same shit, but this one got super unique with multiple things. First you have the side fighter style on the bridge, then you have the platform outside where you fight from a distance to include Gaia, then inside her in a tight space, and then you go first person and fuck up his ghost. Like this shit is perfect 👌 It conveyed well the uphill battle it would be to kill an all powerful god. Odin? Well he just felt like a slightly tougher mini boss
Baldur was also fire cuz of helheim, battle upon the dragon, thamur in the battle, all those stages were fire also the backstory of baldur made it better

That's why he says to Atreus : "I killed many who were *deserving* and many who were not". I don't think he particularly feels bad for killing Zeus. He just regrets that it came to that because Zeus was his father, his flesh and blood. He doesn't want Atreus to be like him, filled with rage and hatred.

A lot of people complained that God of war 3's ending was bad because "oh he killed Zeus with hope? I thought he was forever angry and full of vengeance, what a cop out" they just didn't get this scene. Kratos is DONE, as in every bit of anger and resentment literally just melted away once he saw Zeus's corpse. To him it was over and he had no reason to keep being angry, Greece was destroyed and Olympus was no more. He basically stopped caring by that point and just wanted to go hide away somewhere. Hence why hope is what he used to defeat Zeus, because everything else was lost.

Thor uses thunderbolts and lightning himself, so he would be immune and unfazed to Zeus's only form of offensive attack, which is practically the same thing. Zeus is heavily reliant on the elements and not a warrior like Thor is. It would be a good fight, but Thor would smash Zeus's head off his neck.
Zeus talks a lot of shit, and that is his only real strength. Thor's greatest foe easily eclipses Zeus in strength and mass. Zeus had a lot of trouble with a monster and ended up trapping him under a mountain.

All the gods are immortal, lord wise but they are like necromorohs from dead space, you don’t actually kill them. And gods take hundreds or thousands of years to be reborn into themselves. But the death of Zeus means the death of all gods, but kratos isn’t an actual god, he’s still a man but was given the power of a god so he technically isn’t one. That’s why he didn’t die in the end, but also the reason why the chains came off of his arm is due to the god of gods being killed. All the power was gone, meaning all the curses, all the magic, every bit of it, so the blade of Olympus shouldn’t work but it can gain power through a god meaning another god that could say, be from the Norse mythology “wink wink” but the blades still have power due to the fact that they were made from fire and infused with a god’s power and kratos’s rage. That’s why they still work is because of kratos’ rage in god of war 4, but they aren’t in their prime though

After coming back here I just realized how powerful Zeus was in terms of not only magical but physical strength too. Kratos was at his prime in this game and yet in 16:40 he struggled in a contest of strength with Zeus although eventually he won. Remember that Magni was the Norse God of Strength. It was told that Magni was even stronger than Thor and yet Kratos who was not in his prime anymore still bested him pretty easily. It's just cool that this means Zeus really was the strongest god. But who knows, maybe Odin with his magical crap can be an even tougher opponent. I honestly can't wait for the next game. Also, Thor is definitely fucked.
Edit: It's been confirmed by Cory Barlog that Kratos gets stronger. It's just that he's holding back it seems. So my statement about Kratos not in his prime is invalid my bad.

Man this is what Ragnarok was missing. Multi-phase, multi-staged and epic as fuck. It was a great game, I personally enjoyed the whole thing but the fight with Odin was a bit of a let down to say the least. I get it, he's not Zeus and we haven't had 5 whole games leading up to the confrontation, but his fight still felt lackluster. It was just round 1, bit of dialouge, round 2. The whole thing was over in about 10-15 minutes. Unlike the Zeus fight, it doesn't convey the sense that this guy is so powerful, and there's a reason everyone submits out of fear. Whereas this fight, Zeus is durable as fuck, taking hits just as hard as the ones he deals out, and yet he keeps coming back for more. Not to mention pretty much every old school GOW fight was the same shit, but this one got super unique with multiple things. First you have the side fighter style on the bridge, then you have the platform outside where you fight from a distance to include Gaia, then inside her in a tight space, and then you go first person and fuck up his ghost. Like this shit is perfect 👌 It conveyed well the uphill battle it would be to kill an all powerful god. Odin? Well he just felt like a slightly tougher mini boss
