Hope these workflow tips help all of you FANTOM owners out there. When you are done with this video, check out 15 Amazing beats I made with this keyboard here: ua-cam.com/video/JgYFZpj5aZs/v-deo.html
Glad you enjoyed and found it insightful! Much more to come. The 06 is an amazing board. Super playable, feature packed and lightweight so perfect for gigging!
Thank you for the tips! You explain things really clearly. This is a huge help for me and my Fantom 06. I have watched quite a few other channels about this keyboard but this video really clicked with me. Thanks!
Great information channel.....I don't play keyboard but I bought this for my grandsons to learn on.....they are 15year old newbies they have a Yamaha $600 88key simple keyboard.the Fantom 7 just arrived last Friday And I am taking it over to their house to inbox and discover together. I will haul it back and forth between our houses. I am subscribing to every channel I can find for help.....Thanks for the help!!! We play contemporary gospel music for church. We are beginners!
Thank YOU for the kind words it means a lot. I am on a learn the ins and outs of this amazing keyboard and make videos explaining it all to amazing and supportive owners like yourself. Stay tuned!
Great Video, the Fantom IMO is the best workstation synth ever and for me my dream keyboard , I have owned the flag ship korg and Yamaha workstations , this is the answer to everythjng I ever wanted in a workstation . I can’t imagine it being better other than multi sampling , audio recording , non linear sequencing and organ modeling ! Haha
Really appreciate that Justin! And yeah I agree this keyboard is Incredible!! The features you mentioned would be great additions. Specifically for me a way to arrange compositions more efficiently and effectively as well as the ability to change the default settings for patterns would be huge. Some more customizing options overall. Which model do you own?
Thanks for these tips. It is helping me a lot. I use the Fantom as a MIDI controller for my songs (bc I can't actually play piano) but these tips still are helping me. I use the keyboard sounds in my DAW. It is a great sounding instrument!
Awesome video Kevin..... I love my FANTOM, i actually ditched all my other equipment including 3 keyboards, a drum module, small mixer and souncard because the FANTOM covered ALL these things in one unit....Its a real beast and always stuns me at what it can do... Your info was great and very very useful..DEFO do more tips and tricks.. Keep up the great work..And hats off to you from the UK..
@@DonaldWaughmusic Im still learning the ins and outs of it to be honest, but it certainly delivers on whatever im doing.... I have run samples through the effects etc, but i also use REASON as my Daw so that covers things aswell from the way i work...
Regarding your edit of Scene A1 to kinda fit your "default" settings. Don't forget that you can also change the startup scene (Menu | System) and set the Fantom to boot up on a scene other than A1. I created an "Improv" scene of my fav sounds/drums for when I just want to sit down and romp, then set the Fantom to start up on that scene so when I fire it up it's always ready for me to just sit down to my favorite improv settings. You could change this if you're working on a specific project and just want to get to that scene immediately without having to scroll around, etc.
Omg! Jeff this is such an incredible idea. I’m curious if this will work properly with quantize, loop record etc. I’m gonna try now. If so I will make a video and give you a shoutout. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@Khordmaster I just went in and played with mine. Doesn't look like it stores any of the record settings in the scene and I couldn't find any of those settings in the System Menu for the sequencer either. Would be nice if they added that in the 2.0 update since I pretty much always manually set the recorder to Quantize and Wait Note each time. Be nice to be able to set those as default. If you find a way, let me know! Thanks for the tips!
@@Khordmaster what compelled you to switch up? The expanded range or the lovely PHA-50 keybed? Or both? I found the Fantom 6 keyboard kinda noisy myself.
Thanks for posting this video. I currently own the Yamaha MOXF8 and it is not easy to sequence tracks. The Fantom looks a lot easier imo. I was on looking at getting the Montage or the Fantom, I believe I am leaning more towards the Fantom. The board is a beast.
So I actually owned both! I ended up returning the Montage because it didn't have the sequencer capabilities I needed. I believe they have since implemented some form of sequencing with an update. I really loved the built in sounds (or I should say scene variants) on the Montage ... But the Fantom is so good and I love it. I've made some real 🔥 on this thing do far and will continue to do so 😎
@@Khordmaster The workflow seem almost like a DAW. I tried the Fantom 7 at the NAMM Show but I did not really like the synth action but I like the RD 2000 action. So I may go with the Fantom 8 although it is so heavy to take around for gigs. I might just keep using the MOXF8 for gigs and leave the Fantom for studio use.
Unfortunately no way to with just the keyboard... Which is wild because on the Roland fa08 you can. Maybe they'll update it and incorporate. For now you have to connect to a daw and record audio tracks. The good thing tho is u can do it all in one shot
Yeah it can get confusing... This video explains that: ua-cam.com/video/920gbkzs270/v-deo.html Good luck!!! Consider subscribing as I'll be putting out more Fantom content very soon 😎
I understand your new to the Rollin Fantom but I think you already had a Korg Kronos. I'm trying to make a choice, at first I wanted the Montage. But the Phantom seem to be better in the flexibility of recording which is important. I'm looking for the all-in-one Workstation for a reasonable premium price I like the Roland Fantom especially the ability to create music on the Fly or without stopping. the bottom line I want everything in one synthesizer... which is better the Roland Fantom or the Korg Kronos
Hey! I’ve never owned a Kronos although I considered one. I have owned a montage but at the time they didn’t really have a proper sequencer. I think it does now. The Fantom is amazing and they just updated it with some more really amazing sounds. Their sequencer capabilities are great however there are a few workflow features I am still waiting one. Overall I love my Fantom and would absolutely recommend to anyone considering an all in one. Also check out the newly released Korg nautilus. Good luck!
Haha paperweight though?!?!?! ... I hear you there are things I'm hoping (expecting) get implemented. For me the 2 main things are: 1) ability to change default pattern settings (count in, quantize, tempo etc.) 2) ability to record USB audio out to my phone so I can live stream directly from the keyboard. Overall I'm loving this keyboard though as I learn how to use it.

Can you delete scenes and user tones in that scene so it’s not taking up storage?
if you delete a user tone then it will be deleted from the scene too!
