Your jazzy abilities are quite impressive. Kalimba version of "The final countdown" - just made My day :D One of the best product presentations I've seeing.
19:00 Hold on ! I wasn't prepared for a vibraphone final countdown... Yet another thing I didn't know I needed. These little things u know, they are the reason why i love you^^
I’m actually picking the 88 key version of this up this week. The piano sounds on this board or some of the best I’ve ever heard. Actually, probably the best I’ve ever heard. It is so clean with such incredible dynamics. I was looking at the Korg Krono‘s and happen to run across this board without ever really paying any attention before and the more videos I got into I realize that this was the board for me. The sounds, the abilities in creating your own and sequencing… Not to mention, upgradability and the ability to plug other instruments via USB into it and control them or vice versa...Just incredible. You get a lot of functionality for the price. I can’t wait to dig into it. Thank you for the video.
@@wiredbassclarinet good to hear. I've been using a custom open Labs board forever. Bought it new back in 2016. But after watching some videos and hearing that piano and on top of that, the ease of use in recording ... which is what I need the most. Something that I can sit down to and quickly get an idea doan. The piano sound alone is worth its weight in gold. I have not found one software piano and I have bought some of the most expensive you can get including the East-West collection and still they don't sound that good. I still have my Alesis Fusion which would have been the best keyboard ever made if they had actually followed through and getting the software up-to-date. Wish they never did, so the SATA connection has never functioned. Though it still has a 8 channel audio input. I'll be excited to finally get this thing home.
@@AlecArmbruster Hey. I ended up sending it back and getting a Korg Kronos 88. The Fantom is a good board if you write R&B or Rap. But if you want to do anything else, I find it’s step sequencer too limiting. I guess if you were going to use a DAW, it would be OK. But then again, if you are using a DAW, you could really buy anything with keys and MIDI. The Korg Kronos is an awesome board for any kind of music and you have the option of a full or step sequencer. Not to mention, some great sounds and Korg releases new sounds, what seems like daily. You can also import sounds, which I do with East/West stuff, which I find is the best sounding instrument library out there. In any case, if you have anymore questions... let me know.

Good to see you having so much fun with the instrument. Musicians must enjoy what they do so they can inspire others. I'll definitely purchase one of these.
Impressive demo! You really show off how intuitive this beast is to use. I've had an F7 for 6 months, and it's been a wild ride. Roland has done a phenomenal job on the UI - there are multiple ways to perform a task, and you can usually figure them out without looking at the manual (unlike the months and years I spent learning how to do things on my Kronos). The best part is that Roland seems committed to the Fantom as a platform - they have updated it 4 times since release.
Your exactly correct on the Kronos. Just sold mine. Way way waaaaaay to complicated. A extremely steep learning curve. After 1 year of ownership I had enough of the complexity.
Does anyone else watching this agree that because of covid-19 and no Glastonbury, artists could host a huge online festival with acts like doctor mix on the list where you can enter genre rooms when an artist is live in it and listeners can party and donate
Things like that have been going on over the past few months with artists in the goth scene doing Twitch.tv, UA-cam and Facebook based streams, and separate events with Witch House DJs. One trouble is getting bands to perform when they can't be physically together - lag can make it impossible to play properly in sync. Solo artists, DJs & producers though, no problem.
Anyone could essentially be on the music bill including recreational bedroom DJs and synthesists and preform at their convenience (green light shows when performers are online) and it could go on for the rest of the year maybe! In the lobby people could chat and donate or buy merchandise and leave when they want to go in a different genre lobby. Just an idea. Now just need to think of a name for it like digifest or something.
Sorry so late but It's Pat Metheny's Minuano from Still Life Talking. I'm late because I was thinking about buying a Fantom. Great review. I am now buying one.
What a wise choice from Roland to have you the Fantom. No super serious „i show you aaaaaall effects“ no „lets dive deep intotge menus“: just pure Claudio-the-instant-spontaneous-musician!
Doc mix always cheers me up and makes me smile 😊 the Fantom is a beautiful instrument. Some of the best piano's I've heard from Roland in many years. Great work and energy claudio, you made me litterally laugh out loud on the final countdown on marimba 🤣👍
Oh, THAT sampling!!))) Maybe the most funny part for almost any electronic musician/producer ))) "Final countdown" with marimba sound is just a coolest thing I heard this week))
You're crazy! So damn Hilarious !! Hahahaha the sampling pad the meow and bark all had me in splits !! What's a demo and learning experience without of bit of fun ain't it? I Absolutely loved your presentation. You suddenly made me feel so incomplete not having learnt to play the piano properly mate and I must say you've given me a reason to go back to learning the technical aspects of sound generation ! Respect !
It is wonderful to hear you play caravan again, you have come a long way from showing off your new piano to showing off your new synthesizer! The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Glad I saw your podcast, please explain how you record with the microphone as a lot of people don't know how to get the mic line input to route to the recording software. Want to record vocals and backup vocals alone. Please help
I love the SuperNatural piano on my FP-30 so much that I am enjoying it more than my Ivory II American Concerd D (vst). The Fantom of course has more than just the SuperNatural.
Well Claudio, if you ever need a job as a Roland demonstrator, I reckon it could be yours... You sold it to me better than they did. I want one now, having had some concerns.. It does everything!
I actually just bought one of these recently and I have to say your video was by far the best showing off of the capabilities of the synth Claudio (both parts 1 and 2)! :D
@Doctor Mix: first of all thx for your great videos. I'm totally blown away by the Piano sound of the Fantom. especially combined with the Filter on 13:47 . Could you pls do a Full re-build Video on "The Way it is" with the exact same Sound you used in this Video.

What using the Moogerfooger Ring-Thing with the output of the Synthesizer, those strange sounds where on the track Chase Runner on the album Electric Dreams.
Hahaha! The beatbox sampler with cat and dog sounds was my favourite part! I was still giggling hours later just remembering that part! 😂😂😂 - just awesome videos Claudio! Keep them coming and wow the Phantom is like a tardis box of tricks! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻
17:45 I thought you tried to make RainMan theme :)) So ashamed cause I like Pat Metheny & Lyle May group. Could you make a cover for MusicForEighteenMusicians-SteveReich ? Could be an interesting work about rythms and everything. The piano pad just before I am unsure is it a Jean-Jacques Goldman intro ? Anyway you should listen to his 1986 live 'En public', quite well orchestrated, with great pads ;) An other cover I would love is the final Shine on you crazy diamond, many people do the first parts but not the final 6-9, I wish you would make 8 and 9 with precise notes and sounds of the ending, many retro machines, MiniMoog, ARP String Ensemble, etc... (If there must be a requiem on your channel..a good one)
Maybe it's me, but these modern (can do everything) synths are so incredibly complicated that it would be difficult to create anything original or personal. Constraints are the fuel for creativity. That's why old school synths are so popular, in my humble opinion. Love your videos.
A share your point of you. Yes, these beasts are not as easy as a classic analogue synth, but they give you back tons of joy for every minute of time you spend studying them. When I play live this is the kind of power I want. Create my sounds, well, and with a good tool. Sign me up!
Limitations are great fuel for creativity. The flexibility here is powerful but there are always limitations. Hitting them is how to push music forward.
