Thanks so much bro!!! That’s a great point. Man I have been really enjoying spending time learning the ins and outs of this amazing keyboard. I will be making many more videos about my findings with the Fantom in the coming weeks! Stay tuned :)
@@Khordmaster just came across your vid. Loved it! Can you make more how to vids? How to save and export songs/tracks for example ? And how to maneuver around the environment of the keyboard? That would be awesome. I just got mine today. Much appreciated!!
How do you record a song on the roll in the phantom what buttons in specifics do you hit if you have a video that shows in detail on the buttons and keys layout I wouldn’t mind checking it out
Khordmaster, you have a good idea going here but SLOW DOWN a minute! Right off the bat (starting around 45 or 50 seconds in) you're waving your hands around and changing direction on those buttons and there's just no way a novice can follow you there with that. I think you have great potential to teach some stuff on the Fantom that a LOT of people need but you need to slow down and go step-by-step through the "teaching". Just my 'hint'. lol Thank you for your efforts and interest in helping the "Fantom" community of new users!
@@Khordmaster I think "Bach" has a point there though. It would be cool if you (or someone) actually showed the steps of creating a song on the Fantom. The Fantom is a complex board capable of many things. It would be nice if someone said, "alright, turn it on. Now do this." Know what I mean?
That's a great idea and thanks for putting that up - I was actually thinking of creating a few of my own scenes/templates ahead of time and saving them to re-use/copy etc. I just got my Fantom a few days ago - but still have my Kronos too and am so used to using the templates in the Sequencer section. Having a blast, but it's really a learning curve.
This is a good idea. Can you do a video demonstrating how to do a full song, with all the variations, pauses, drum fills, etc? This is what is missing in all other tutorials.
Thanks Kevin! I am new to the Fantom (and workstations for that matter!) this was very helpful. I also don’t like the sound exploration rabbit hole. I seem to loose inspiration in that process, though I do see value in it for familiarity with the sounds this machine is capable of...
@@Khordmaster Hi Kevin, more on the "I am not into the sound exploration" thing; it occurred to me today as I am working out a couple of licks and riffs, that is a GREAT time to multi task. While playing them over and over and over and ... spin the wheel why you are going along and you just might find a new sound you dig. I did this morning and it made me think of your channel. Hope that helps my friend, cheers!
You're welcome!!!! Super big price difference indeed. Both are great keyboards. I actually owned the FA08 once before. If you have any questions on either, let me know!
@@Khordmaster Ok just a quick few questions? Does it sound way better to your ears than the FA08? Are teh music compositional tools on the fantom way batter? I really want to get away from daws and this seems like the one!
1) I think it sounds better but I wouldn't say way better cuz the fa08 sounded incredible. 2) I would not say so honestly. Which ties into your last sentence. I also would look to go dawless with this keyboard but certain functions like being able to move clips around to different sections are lacking. I believe it will definitely get there... And if u listen to the beats I made on a video called something like 15 beats ok the Fantom, you'll see that the sound is incredible but to fine tune the structure of the song, they have a song mode that lets you do it kinda but it's not ideal for me. That's my honest opinion 🙂
@@Khordmaster I kind of figured that but just wanted to be sure maybe it's the arranger that come with built-in speakers but I really love the look of that Roland Fantom and that signature red back Wow
Would you pick the Roland Fantom over the Korg Kronos, if yes why I personally don't care about 9 engines but what I do care about is the ability to record with ease.
well, what you did, essentially, WAS: to create your own template, so you got around what was lacking with ingenuity....nice video, as always, Kevin!!

yes, I could not follow the steps either. I would love to see a video with more step by step Thanks !
Great tutorial. Thank you

Nice, this is such a legendary piece of equipment.
You are not kidding!! It's amazing. Can't wait to use it some more tonight actually after teaching! 😅
Very helpful thanks 😎

Hey Kevin, great idea! I hadn’t thought about copying presets to use as a template. Definitely helps speed up the process even more!
Excellent Aaron!!! I'm so glad. It is such a game changer for me as well 😎.... Stay tuned for more content just like this 🙂
Thankyou , you explained that very well .
No problem! More Fantom stuff coming soon!

Good idea. The Templates in the FA was useful.
I totally agree! Yeah this is a great workaround for the time being. I'm thinking eventually they'll implement such a feature on the Fantom
That’s a awsome keyboard what is a good inexpensive MEDI keyboard that’s not too big to learn how to make beats and stuff with?
I'm gonna have to recommend a novation Launchkey! They're great
How do you put on a drum track Kevin on a new song ?
Huh?? Lol
thanks:) I have yet to make my mind up about this or the roland FA 08.. big price diff

@@Khordmaster Thanks! I will let you do a few more videos on the fantom and ask you then. It looks like you only got the fantom recently?
Sounds good! I actually purchased it right around when it came out in the fall of 2019. But started doing videos on it recently

Does the Roland Fantom come with any built-in speakers
It does not! Most workstations will not come with speakers

Don't bother!! I am a beginner & got much much further than you!!! Not helpful. Please keep to your own home work station. Thanks.
