That's one of the best keyboards on the market right now, the sounds have punch and the keyboard has a lot of stuff that you can do, it's amazing
It wouldn't be a true Roland Fantom product launch without the legendary Scott Tibbs! The new Fantom looks and sounds awesome! Thanks for the great video!
Great demonstration! A comprehensive journey through the workflow and creating musical ideas. This synth sounds incredible. Well done Roland, you've created a MONSTER!
why do I have butterflies feeling I'm my tummy like I just saw my crush from primary school moving to the apartment next door???
That's one gorgeous keyboard ❤️❤️❤️

Jukka Tarvonen people like you make UA-cam worth it.
Thanks man
Question, can I play my vst with the fantom in fl studio, if so how do i do that? Thanks!
Thanks man, It will help a lot when I buy mine!!!
I truly appreciate this comment.
Scott Tibbs. Probaly the BEST demonstrator on any Roland keyboard. Brilliant
And one of the most dishonest. He is a professional musician. What do musicians very often play? A layer of Piano and something else. What happens when you layer or split V-Piano and Zen engine? Patch remain doesn't work! So you have to fall back to using Zen Core only. Could have mentioned that.
@@pcuimac You cannot blame the guy for doing his job.
Keiki Uto is bad ass too
Agree This presentation is amazing!
Man this thing looks like it could be the total package.
Scott Tibbs is a master of showcasing the features in a fast and simple manner! Awesome!
This is the best workstation ROLAND has ever produced.
Well done ROLAND.
Very powerful machine! But why, such a simple element like organ is so bad. I understand that this is Universal machine and all should be on top - pro level. Roland perfected things that allready sounding good. Why simple and basic element like organ is so crab? C'mon is 2019 !!!!!!! I always exepect what in RD series will fix organ and hammond emulation. In Fantom is the same history! I'm not shure that V-PIANO technology in Fantom is 100% original. In RD 2000 Roland assure that piano sound is based on V-Piano technology but piaono sound is shit.... is not like V-PIANO original! In Fantom is better than in RD-2000 but not absolutely shure if not castrated if compare to original V-PIANO!
@@VadimShinnik well I guess you could just buy the v piano and be perfectly content with it. I personally think it's awesome Roland made a workstation that can finally compete with the Korg Kronos. This industry needs competition to innovate.
@@ItsThatJahncke2 hmmm not such a good idea. I have Sequential Prophet XL. Midi controller + Omnisphere and Keyscape! If I buy something in future it will be Nord!!!
@@VadimShinnik Yeah as of this moment I'm strictly using VST on my computer. I really like using Omnisphere + Keyscape. When I feel the need for deeper connection when playing piano I use Pianoteq.
Vadim Shinnik p
I signed up for free trial for the Roland cloud and went to the event for the phantom. I love how they upgraded the engines. The way you can layer is optimal. They have eclipsed every keyboard on the market right now. I'll get another Grammy nomination with this.
Thank you Mr. Scott Tibbs for this wonderful presentation !
I really love the Logic integration- "no need to touch the computer". The important menus including controls of softsynths from the touchscreen of the Fantom- amazing.
Stay away from the computer - I want that.
I’m actually interested in a Roland Product .....the immediacy of the interface and touch screen is the BEST OUT THERE NOW!
Great job all around, Roland !!
Thanks Scott for this awesome demo !
Man. i remember salivating over the original Fantom overviews from Scott Tibbs in high school. In the age of DAWs, I wouldn't mind buying this workstation. Nice work Roland.
Before I bought my Korg poly 800 this is what was in my minds eye :)
Looks totally awesome. Great keyboard - very intuitive to use, and easy to make changes.
Besides this great keyboard, this guy is an amazing keyboardist 👍🏻🎹
I've watched this like 3 times cos of the sounds this dude makes. Very talented player
Awww, gosh, this sounds so fantastic and looks so intuitive to work with. I am really impressed.
Not only are you a great product specialist but a great player too, I always appreciate your demos - bought the JD-XI after watching your demo. My DJ70 had 4MB sampling! LOL how things have changed.
Roland this is a beauty and it sounds awesome. I am ordering one.
When I have a job I'm definitely buying one. Good job Roland!
audiotone What do you mean when you say you sold both.
That's a pretty astonishing instrument, and excellent demo, thanks!!!
Fabulous keyboard and unbeatable presentation by Scott Tibbs. Tibbs is Roland's best keyboard presenter.
Brilliant demonstration! I'm not even primarily a keyboardist but this was just a pleasure to watch and listen too.
I'm just amazed. Amazing job roland.
this is some next level sounds and layout, love Roland products
Impressive keyboard, Roland always with great music technology. Thank you guitar center.
Absolutely LOVE IT!! ❤️❤️❤️
That thing is monster HUGE!
I have waited patiently for 20 years for this machine. Thats more than half of my life. The sound in here is legit. I have played and programed keyboards but always respected the Roland Fantom series(x). There is no doubt this is what I will be buying.
I don't know how good the new Fantom really is, but Scott can make any instrument sound great.
this is amazing synth! i love it!!
Used to work with Scott at Roland years ago. He’s a very cool guy and is actually a Doctor. LOL. He earned his Doctorate degree in Music while I was at Roland back in the early 2000’s
A good 10 years ago I saw him demo something somewhere. What you say doesn’t surprise me. He seemed quite intelligent.
the Daw integration is revolutionary, this is crazaaaaay!!!!
One of the better presentations on this so far.
Nice, a new Fantom to pair with my Fantom G7. Looking forward to testing it out at my Local Guitar Center.
Yes i hope they have them already
Roland definitely comes out with the coolest light shows in their boards
It's a reskinned yamaha montage. The montage has been out for years
@@dillincasa6161 lol literally all of this has been out since the Kronos was unveiled. Go back and watch the NAMM release for the Kronos and compare to this vid. Korg were well ahead of the game.
Thank you for the detailed demo!
Scott is legendary. Amazing chops and superb demo presentation. I just got the 8 last week and coming from a Kurzweil PC3x I’m blown away.
After all these years, finally one of the 3 major keyboard brands (Yamaha, Korg, Roland) managed to create a workstation that has pure, clean, natural sound, includes all synthesizer and arranger, life player keyboard futures and also can provide some inspiration with its current onboard sounds, pads etc. Nobody actually want a midi keyboard (Controller) but keyboard over a computer provides unlimited amount of sounds. Its is not because we love those sounds but more like because of physical workstations actually cannot fill many categories (Sound quality, easy to use buttons etc.inspirational clean, natural sounds, pads etc.), while they only fill in one or two. It was not because they were not able to do it. Instead, it was just because of trying to sell many different keyboards, equipments etc. to the consumer., while combining all of them in a good keyboard was so easy but they did not do it. So, everybody started going towards computer created keyboards on vts etc. softwares, those comes so many downsides, such as bad quality, over priced, quires too much of computer power, too many softwares, plugins etc. and delşay of course.
Roland Fantom seems like it managed to fill all of those categories.
However, % 90 of the keyboard presentations sucks. The musics they chose to demonstrate sounds, pads etc. really annoying. Annoying jazz sounds only or similar music style.
This is a workstation. People buys these keyboards will use it ;
- As a stage piano or recording piano so they want natural piano sounds, very clean etc. but they also play millions of different style from classic to trance, ethnic etc. no just jazz.
- Synthesizer to create their own voices for video soundtracks, dance music, trance etc. electronic music creations and/or playing,
-so, and so.
I didn't know Biff from Back to the Future was such a good musician.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cmon, "hello mcflyyy anybody home tok tok tok think mcfly think" was pure musicality
"Make like a tree and get out of here."
Every single Scott Tibbs demo video has this comment. But who cares, it's still gold. :)
oh? where is Micheal J Fox?
Dude, love you see you playing.
Great demo and cool workstation!
You would be an excellent sounds/effects maker for any movie!
I played on this today, it's awesome. The sounds are amazing and the dashboard is very appealing and welcoming. I prefer this to the Kronos.
How’s the Keybed?( if play piano sounds
Both of them are no montage
Hey Jimmy Figueras i used to own a Korg Kronos and to be honest with you i found it complex and difficult but i am guessing this Roland is just as Good as the kronos
Scott has beautiful playing form/execution.
What a beast. I really enjoyed the filter section 8:12. And such a cool arpeggio for that example.
Clip matrix ! Very kool, this is a big deal ....
Return of the FANTOM sweet
Best sounds!!!! Super synth!!
What an amazing piece of gear!
That was that best GD demo I've ever seen! Good job!
that's a BEAST of a workstation !
FINALLY ROLAND PUT A DECENT PROFFESIONAL KEYBED ON THIS KEYBOARD, IT WAS ABOUT TIME.
Look Maa.. No more that Casio feel.
Scott Tibbs aka (Biff) is the reason why I own this baby now! So glad I bit the bullet and bought one! Totally worth it! Thank you Scott!
I have always thought that Roland's music and sound products had a unique experimental quality to them.
Whilst in the top end price bracket, this Fantom series of workstation/synths is sensational.
Saving my pocket money as we speak.
08:15 😭😭😭😭I CAN'T. That arp is a straight hit.
Factsss bruh that shit would go crazy with some drums
Ok wow.. looks like Roland finaly has a true hardware workstation contender! This is what a current Ensoniq would be. ;) looks excellent!!
I have a MR 76. Loved that company.
@@PianoMan4Life1982 Still have my ZR-76.. Yeah.. they were great!!
Ts 10 ❤
I love Ensoniq...wish they were still doing it
The sequencer only is similar to ensoniq.
Tibbs is the dude!! Fantom looks great.... must play it!
As a Fantom owner I can say this instrument is phenomenal. Thanks for this video!
Rip Korg. I have fallen in love with Roland because of their pianos, and now this . insane!
Alex Johnson don’t be so sure Namm is around the corner.
WoW, That's awesome, I like this feature at 6:01.
Maxi Dar I think montage has that feature too
Korg Kronos has had this since 2011. Old news.
@@andoletube , Lol, Roland's Fantom G series did this in 2008. I should know, I have 2 of them. No idea why this guy makes it sound new.
@@john8314 lol, yeah. Now that I think about it, Korg Oasys had it in 2005. Not sure who had it first though.
Cool sounding keyboard. I like the Welcome to the Machine sounds at 9:55.
Excellent presentation and beautiful playing by the host. This sounds like an incredible machine. I wish I owned one.
I think this is the top of the line instrument Roland ever produce. Waiting for its price.
No,no,no thr top is the Jupiter-X
$3200
wow that guy demoing it is kinda a monster keyboardist! :)
Hey I love how you record on this beast.
Biff is Scott Tibbs. He is amazing musician.
We met in Nashville many years back.
He did a blistering rendition of Chick Corea's "Spain."
Good guy!!!!!
The people who invent these things must be aliens. I would love to master this bit of kit. Grew up in the Roland D50 era
Just in time for covid-19 , to keep me home , I'm sold .
Like the seamless feature. This is going to a great workstation.
The piano sound goes beyond and above
This is the best way to create and produce music totally independent from a computer all of the tools at your finger tips, no possibilities of any virus wiping weeks/months of compositions. Switch on ready to go
Agreed
BUT its NOT.......It doesnt even have any Audio Tracks, Real Sampler, NO Linear Sequencer and the list goes on...ALL those things you could do on the Fantom X and G series.!!!...you NEED a laptop to make it into a Workstation...Realistically...its just a Synth with Controller functions....a really really really expencive one
Awesome workstation. What about integration with Ableton Live??
Man I need one of these in my life. This is the BEST SYNTH OUT...
Such good quality drum samples WOW
Nice instrument, nice sound. Roland could also do a professional keyboard for the studio, a combination of synthesizer with styles, sampler. I miss this in the brand's offer.
I'm freakin out!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Same!
Fantom has always been dope.
I didn't even mean to.. but when I was at Guitar Center today to buy an aux cable.. I sat down at this thing and got lost for a while.. the keybed is so nice.. feels unreal.. you never want to stop playing it.. it's very intelligently laid out.. you don't get lost in menus.. you get lost in sounds and playing... making things up.. which is what instruments are supposed to do....usually I only use plug ins to get really great sounds through midi controllers.... but there's something cool about this very expensive beast.. man it would be fun to have...
If Roland Just would add the full function sampling features in the Fantom, so that i could use my own samples, and also adjust and tweak them the same way than internal factory presets, as you can do in Yamaha Montage, which would make this new Roland Fantom such a great for live performing, having all the sound in the same box. So, in that case, i could seriously consider buying that new Fantom. But without full function sampling features i must say, FU Fantom, i'll go with the Montage !!
my thoughts exactly know aomeone who bought one and he said its underwhelming and wish he'd bought a montage the montage is just far far superior in everyway to yet another overpriced mediocre product from roland not sure hpw much longer they can go on before they go bust but whatever their doing at the minute isn't working think the orginal fantoms are better the silver ones but really the lat decent synth roland made was the jupiter 80 and that was welll ummm and ahhhh on that really
Mixture of Korg kronos, Yamaha montage and nord !!
I play on the spot improv so this workstation is PERFECT in every way and of course being Roland this does not suprise me well done Roland well done hoping to get a 7 or 8 here soon
I had just saw this at Guitar Center yesterday, but there was no price tag on it. As usual, you never can get any assistance as the sales people are mostly busy all of the time in such a big mega store. I am glad that the Fantom now has a touch screen as touch screen technology is the way to go. Wersi Pegasus was the world's first keyboard with touch screen technlogy back in the early 1990s. This sounds great, as I wished that my Hammond SK1-73 would have a touch screen and more effect knobs or slidders.
I really like the color red and black finish.
I hear they sell an accessory that converts the base into a camper van. The base should be plenty of room to stretch out for even the tallest of campers.
I tried to watch a couple of other demos for this keyboard, but when I came to this one and saw that Scott Tibbs was the guy doing the demonstration....I was like, “Heck yeah! We’ll finally get to see what this thing can REALLY do!”
Bravissimo, Roland! The really BIG Name✌
Good to see the Fantom back as I though the Fantom line was dead. I still own my trusty old Fantom XR rack essentially the successor to the XV line. I think this new Fantom looks too much like the Yamaha Montage. The Montage is basically Motif without a sequencer.
Eman 08 it kinda does have a sequencer though check my Instagram Lordtunes you will see a beat I made through the Montage
The Montage is a whole other animal from the Motif. I own both and can tell you there is a night and day different between the Motif and Montage.
@@BluesCat1980 it's still a Motif as alot of the Motif sounds from the XS carried over as I demoed them at Guitar Center. It just adds on an FM synthesis and a few new sounds. I still own the classic Motif ES6 that has the plugin Expansion board option to add on FM, Virtal Analog synthesis not found on the XS/XF models as its not just a Rompler, it's really a Hybrid Synth once you install those plugin boards. The Montage basically brought back the FM synthesis built in. The Yamaha EX5 came with an FM/VA synth engine which was the predecessor of the Motif.
@@eman0828 It has a ton of newer sounds too and having the super knob makes a huge difference too. I own a MODX6. Same exact keyboard and sound engine as the Montage just slightly stripped down. I own a Motif XS6, have played the XF8, and used to own an original Motif. The Montage/MODX series keyboards are just simply stunning with all of their capabilities. The new pianos, drums, and other hosts of new sounds are incredible.

Best PCM workstation for sure, but the touchscreen should be larger. Like the Pegasus WIng...
I have the Wersi Pegasus Wing, and sadly it no longer fully functional. The Wersi Pegasus Wing has been discontinued, and replaced with the Wersi OAX-1, but even more expensive. I have been a Wersi fan for many years, playing Wersi keyboards on stage with bands, but the reliability is aweful.
Great work station 👍❤️ I love it 🥰
Bloody marvellous! Want one ...
Ah the new FA06/07/08. I think you cannot go wrong with this one. Can you play multisamples on the keybed?
my question which I litterally posted 5min ago.....no mention of that
The instruction manual must be the size of a Tokyo phone book.
punchthedog Don’t worry it is.
@@Denvermorgan2000 actually, they fool you: the "owner's manual" is rather small, but has constant gaps where they tell you to go to the other manuals, especially the reference manual....
That is the point of using scenes and seamless editing, playing and recording setups. It makes the general operation simpler and smoother. It's as complicated as you want it to be, depending on how you use this workstation/synth.
@@PetraKann roland has put a lot of thought into streamlining these processes, and in some cases, they are revolutionary, however, make no mistake about it, there is a learning curve, and yes, the manual WOULD be very large, if they didn't separate it into 3 different manuals.......once you learn how to navigate one of these things, you are in a better position to rate how efficient they are....
@@DrGargani True. The learning curve is even steeper if someone has never used a synthesiser or workstation before.
I recall buying my first synthesiser in the late 1980s - a D-50 (and a TR rhythm machine), and pretty much everything was new to me. I didnt have a home PC at the time either. (286 Dos version 3.1 was the trending home PC - maybe the 386 and later the 486 and pentiums surfaced onto the market).
My experience with electronic keyboards was a dual keyboard organ with foot bass pedals and there was no programming involved - merely pushing buttons to get different sounds etc.
The use of this new Roland Fantom does appear to be intuitive though which is great for every level player I would imagine.
The future synthesisers will be brain interactive (in fact there is technology available today that can do that. I have a small interface that attaches to the head and picks up changes in brain waves. You can use these signals to generate frequencies and even sequencer patterns if you're creative enough with software writing and electronics. There are also interfaces that couple with plants and are able to generate soundscapes. (Midi Sprout and PlantWave).
...sky is the limit
Thanks for the detail intro
impressive!! so powerful !!
what about reason 11? does it work good with that DAW
Is the manual less than 5000 pages?
Beautiful keyboard, great demo! Would still like to see Roland get back into the home organ business. Atelier line, BEST organ EVER made hands down.
Welcome back, Roland!
