I'm really glad there's someone out there doing this. Breaking down sound design for folks and stuff like that. It's a field most people don't think about, but it's rewarding as hell.
I decided to try it out! I made my own SPNKR Rocket Launcher sound effect. Its on my channel give it a look!
Im going to school for it
Underrated channel
I strive one day to become an overrated channel
Marshall McGee overrated is a bad thing it means you aren't as good as you should be
p sure he was joking.
jjuiki757 uh what? what did i do o.o ....im not even in this comment chain
Marshall McGee - don't be overrated pls
Long-time Halo fan, here. Wow. That was really fucking cool.
if you were a Halo fan, you would've complained that he used the anniversary beam rifle, and not the regular beam rifle from the original Halo 2.
Yes, a fan always moans about a sound in a game that was made with random objects.
So so so good! I live for this stuff.
Hey I'm subscribed to you

Nice
This is amazing! I'm an animation student, and for a lot of our projects we're encouraged to add sound effects to our animations, but the sound library we're given access to just doesn't always have what I'm looking for. It's nice to see that it is possible to create good sound effects without really professional equipment, you have yourself a new subscriber! ^^
4:47 That's music to my ears
Right it actually sounds realistic and not fully computerized sounding like the actual sound which it probably is 🙄
knowing how to embrace your limitations is one my my favorite part of creating, i love how you did this with nothin fancy and made a even cooler sound for the gun.
When your sound is cooler then the one in the game lmao
Ikr? If only we could mod it into the game.....
Puhdn then the one in the game what ?
I wouldn't go that far

@@oxcyfps4746 ok yeah wow.
So you know your microwave was dirty but was the time on purpose?
GrinningTybo i know it's an unpopular internet opinion but I don't even smoke lol the time was totally a coincidence.
Lol, personally I don't care, I just thought maybe it was a staged joke :P
Always inspiring to see we can make convicing sounds design without any expensive material and software!
Manish. 1031 @gA. com
Showing us the "poor man's sound design" method is truly inspirational. This is pretty nifty.
Who saw this in their recommended and thought they were gonna make a Beam Rifle prop from an iPhone?
PhantomMori yep lol
It says sound, can you not read...At all???
GTO Driver Rico Well maybe I'm on a phone and the fucking thumbnail does not have "sound" anywhere? Did you even look at the thumbnail before typing to see if there's something you didn't catch?
DUDE no way. I discovered your music a few years back and we chatted briefly when I was trying to figure out how to blend funk music and electronic music. I think I originally asked you about sampling RHCP and how you used the THX sound. Fast forward to now, I've been on a sound design kick lately and been obsessing and I stumble across your stuff again, and once again it's absolutely killer. Idk what that means, but I think it's kinda cool haha. Anyways, keep up the awesome stuff! Gonna be checking out the rest of your sound design stuff for sure
Hope you’re doing well man :) I think I remember our convo. New episode this weekend hope you like it!
Marshall McGee Awesome, looking forward to it!
As a music producer, this is a whole lot more valuable than alot of production videos on youtube! Amazing
Holy shit this was actually pretty awesome! I'm getting more into sound design every day (just as a hobby) and this is perfectly in line with my way of thinking. You definitely don't need fancy equipment to make really good stuff!
Thank you for this! I’ve been really into sound design for the past 2 years and I can’t believe I’m just now finding your channel! You do amazing work :D
Holy crap this video is SO DOPE, the final gun sound is insane, nice job! Would love to see more of these!
So far I've only seen you videos where you focus on capturing samples from your house or outside, but I absolutely love what you're doing! Super creative and helps serve as motivation and inspiration for my own fx creating!
Seriously so glad I stumbled onto this channel. For my videos I have always wanted to get into the creation of sounds, but never really knew where to begin. This is huge! Thanks man! Please please please keep going! Also if you were to produce some tutorial series for purchase that went even further in depth, I feel like it might perform really well!
Dude, you're a wizard. I'm a musician/composer and I've gotten into sound design for the theatre, and I genuinely wish I'd known about this channel when I'd started. Thank you so much for doing what you do!
sooooo good, man. thanks for consistently providing educational, informative, and fun content. always looking forward to your videos
This is an amazing serious dude. Fantastic production and super fun. Keep it up!
I'm not in sound design, but I always find it's the most satisfying part of film in the end, when things sound crisp and visceral. The fact that you're making a channel that is essentially Art Attack or Bob Ross for soundies makes me really happy, and I wish more elements of film (or video games or whatever) had channels to showcase what can be done with a bit of thought that are as friendly and inviting as this one!
idk why Google recommended you to me but oh lord I'm happy it did. this channel is lit
That microwave door slam to a futuristic gun sound. Duuudeeeeeee….. 🤯🤯🤯 so glad i discovered you
Great as always, dude. Love the way you make it fun and informative!
I love your channel so much, dude. never stop making awesome content
cool ass video showing people how to make cool ass shit. i appreciate your cool ass.
Love it. Glad I found your channel. Very high quality videos, and inspiring!
This is what I wanted !!
So nice of you to share with us !!
Just found your channel today. Your channel is very creative, and unique, I am enjoying every bit of it. Keep up the good work.
Damn you made a professional sounding gun with a fucking iPhone and real word sounds, badass dude
Fantastic, this is exactly what I've been looking for for years. Not constantly, but still I've been keeping my eyes peeled.
That was honestly an amazing video, good job man.
Amazing video.
Great character, good guide, easy-to-understand visuals and explanation, and a wonderful goal of de-mystifying the art of sound design. It makes the task seem less impossible and more attainable. Good video, sharing with my music production teacher.
Super interesting and well put together. Nice job man, you earned yourself a sub
I love it when youtube suggests these cool videos to me, this was an amazing vid. You just earned yourself another sub;)

*Looks at microwave clock*
Best time of the day to record audio.
This is coming up in people's suggested, hope you get the attention you deserve for this show. Would love to see an analysis of Alien Isolation, the sound design really got to me.
Thankyou for the encouragement marshall.
Subscribed, really helpful for entertainment and learning. I'm practicing beat making and this just gives so many new ideas. Thanks for the effort you put in the video.
really cool concept :) loved it.
love this - your vids are so good!
I can't tell you how much I love this video. Definitely checking out your other ones
That was absolutely amazing when you used the air conditioning noise, I just thought, "oh no there's birds in the background" but nope, they even made it sound cooler. This video is absolutely great.
I was always super annoyed because when searching laser gun sound fx there was never any good ones like they were all pretty bad but By pitch shifting reverb and things you brought up here I was able to make some pretty solid sound lazer gun sound effects to fit my perpouse Thank you so much! Have a like!
Love sound designing and halo... this was perfect.
Love Halo 3. Played the campaign on Legendary with my brother. This guy knows a shit load about sound.
Way to go, man! I really respect this video!
I feel like you're missing out a lot when you're not talking about how you use the EQ/chorus/verb/delays ect, as that the part you spend the most time with. At least from a beginner's standpoint (which I'm not btw) it seems you basically saying "Just pick up a guitar, learn some chords and bam!" when in reality there's a lot more finesse that goes into then just what you said.
Well not a lot of people understand the layout of FL Studio or Ableton. I think this video is more for entertainment than anything. If he was going to show what he did I think he'd probably do a full tutorial :P
Mellonote Just like the post above noted, this wasn't an instructional video as much as a means to show what can be done with minimal equipment. The best way to learn is experience itself, not regurgitating one way how an individual does it. D/L some trial software and play around. :)
I feel like this video is just like a stepping stone ya know, like he aint teaching you how to do it as people who are interested in this kind of thing will/should have knowladge with software and audio equipment, I think this is more of a video to encourage the people who are super interested in doing stuff like this but dont have all the whistles and bells (i.e the fancy equipment) and that the people who are discouraged should not be like that so they can get out there and experiment. therea are plenty of videos explaining what EQ/chorus/verb/delays are. (these are all super basic elements of any DAW)
I enjoy not knowing. It gives me a challenge to figure out. Like with some hints how do I go from sound A to sound B. BUT I would like to know what chorus plugin he used on the air conditioner (or if he stacked the ableton chorus)
Fantastic work, man!
Thanks for another video!
Finally some quality content on UA-cam that is well educated! Great video!
I think it came out really cool too!
Underrated channel with quality content.
that was so cool. what a creative person.
I've never heard of you, never seen any of your videos, don't know if any of the other ones are even worth watching. But I watched this and immediately subscribed. And turned on notifications. Damn, that was good.
I just found you and i fell in love with your vids. Kudos bro. :)
I'm glad I got my new headphones today.
same what kind did u get?
Turtlebeach x12. They're average by all standards. Trustworthy for general gaming and sound whoring.
Holy shit that gun sound is insane! Subbed
God i came across this channel and now have a new appreciation for sound design XD a suggestion for a game you may want to look into is perhaps Rainbow Six Seige there's a lot of cool stuff happening with the sound in that game, really cool video by the way and look forward to seeing more stuff :D
Hey man. I've been learning a lot about music stuff and randomly stumbled on reddit. I like the video. If you ever do a video on a step by step on how you're doing more of the software side of stuff that would be much appreciated. Super cool video. :)
Dude you're awesome! Thanks for this!
Eyy, that's pretty good, you earned a sub!!!
You’re sick. Keep it up 💯
Dude this is so sick. When I was just starting out making videos, I used Audacity just for voiceover. I never experimented with sound design, but I want to start messing around. I think it'll be fun with something that sounds so cool yet made so easily.
you are so creative!
subbed, really enjoyed this!
You got the greatest point ever! Thank you for proofing it!
that sounded so much better than i thought it would
Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement
+gurudeclan thanks for watching :) !
Thank you. You've enlightened me.
Waoh.. I dont usually comment on any video but this one is worth it. I love it. Keep the good work. +1 subscriber :)
woah you did better on this video that most UA-cam's with over 1mill sub's make content like this. everything is flawless
that ended up sounding awesome!
Thanks for the idea! I made a video on making the rocket launcher SFX using jsut my basement and audacity!
That sounds even better bro nice
Quality content! I subscribed.
Wow. That was awesome!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome video and super interesting
Just subbed, great content man.
From the picture I thought this was a cinema tutorial but this is equally cool
I can't wait until your channel blows up :}
Awesome vid!
such a good video!
underrated as hell glad was on my recommendation
You definitely have a new subscriber. awesome channel
Incredible.

Hey its the Habie147 music, great stuff Marshall I've been binging all your old stuff
Sounds better than the original to be completely honest.
I know it's irrelevant but the rifle legit looks like a compound eye!
Brilliant vid! :DD
Damn good stuff!!
That gun caused me horrible memories and you just triggerd a veitnam flashback
