Actually, on the note of feedback. I know it's a small thing, but I try to avoid absolutely all trailers and gameplay for games I'm gonna play. And the Last of Us Part II is one of them. Of course, it didn't seem like you showed anything remotely spoiler-like, but since it's an unreleased game and was only used as generic example of "real game", just seems like you could've played it safe and used footage from a released game instead. But overall, an excellent video as always.
Well srew you I guess, 11 dislikes in 4 months ;P I have nothing to do with sound or game design but you make it super interesting, thanks for sharing your passion.
Always slipping in clips for Battlefront '15. As a massive fan of DICE's work in that game (hours just spent walking around listening to the soundscapes, foley and blaster fire tails), I immensely appreciate that.
Studying sound design at full sail and watching your videos give me even more of a reason to keep on going with this major. Thanks for everything man. Keep doing what you're doing
@@TankyFrank I'm on the 4th month now? Almost finishing up on it. Its audio arts in the industry where you learn about the industry and where it leads you
This is insane to me. Only just started looking into sound design for games this past week but I find it crazy how you're able to do this. I'm not ashamed to say I tried copying what you've done and just ended with an awful result, which in hind sight is probably a good thing as it just means I'm can get better. But this is seriously impressive. Thank you for your insight
Perhaps you could do a video on how to graple the making of your own sound library, wich is something i struggle with, keeping track of all those recordings is hard ^^
Hey Marshall, I've been working on a sample library for scifi weaponry and vehicles for a Music Production college course 2nd year. Ive been chipping away at it and have learned a lot from the videos you upload here. God I'm thankful for these and just saw you uploaded this. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeckyeah. Anyways gonna watch the video now ;) Thanks for making these, they are greatly appreciated! Leon
I've been playing destiny for 3 years now and I'm impressed how similar that final mix is to the actual sound. It's not perfect but you did a damn good job. I'll definitely be listening to it differently now.
This is cool, will take some inspiration! Working on a car simulator currently and good engine sound samples are hard to come by, so I wrote a program that simulates the cylinders and pipings of a car engine and exhaust which is a slightly different approach :D It generates it from no samples at all, fully digital, but next step is to mix real samples of cylinders firing with the simulation
I love your videos. I study Animation and Digital Art, but I know that audio design is very important in videogame design, and is one of my Hobbies. Your videos help me to understand a lot of theory and the creative process of videogame and movie audio design. P.D: Your voice sounds like the narrator from an F Zero game from Gameboy.
Hmmm. Needs more cowbell Sarcasm aside, this is great. I've been learning some programming and this helps me to understand the concept behind real time audio processing.
Im actually software engineer for games.. I think sfx can boost the immersion of games up to 100%... BUT ^^not enough budget, not enough time, and not enough talent for finding the right persons. #IndiesLife but your channel is allready such a great relief. finally somebody who is able to demonstrate that process!
I will probs never work in this field but it is so interesting and your quality of production is just amazing. On thing tho, i find the final mix to be too deep for such a small vehicle
Love your vids. Can you teach us how video game UI sound effects work? I think they're a little harder because they aren't attached to any real life sound and are a little more abstract.
NICE. i was searching 'game sound design' for a nearly due project (s/o to profs who don't inspire learning zzz) that's a lame lil vr space-fight thing, saw a video by you, thought 'i wonder what games he covers, maybe something like elite dangerous or planetside' and boom, one specifically on scifi vehicles. bless you, friend.
Love your videos, super helpful and inspiring! Ever think of doing a video about how you organize projects? I have so so many live projects.... any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi Marshall- previously you've done videos where you've made sounds with audio captured with more easily accessible equipment, i.e. an iPhone, but what about more accessible software? Would it be possible to design sounds in Audacity? I'm not really someone who knows much at all about audio editing so maybe I'm just talking out of my ass here, but it could be an interesting topic to cover. Thanks for the fantastic videos, keep it up.
I use a granular reverb to design a texture around my dry sounds but the results are limited. The idea of using a resonator sounds fantastic! What could be some of the best resonator plugins I could look into? Thanks so much 🙏
What bothers me is the fact that the creators refuse to acknowledge that in space, there would be no sound reaching you. Sound requires a medium to be transmitted. Very few get it right. 2001 A Space Odyssey. Firefly. (Well, that was a short list).
Forza’s one of the worst examples of vehicle sounds in the business. Basically every NFS before 2015, Burnout Paradise, Split/Second, and even GTA 5 are all lightyears ahead of any modern Forza game.
Yeah came here to say this, i'm playing Forza Horizon 4 right now and the sound is very well implemented and responsive, but the samples and recordings they use for the cars are very sub-par, and the overall mix of the game is terrible. The music together with the game sound sounds terrible and the general sound it's the only thing i don't like about this game.
please dislike this video for me forgetting to reverse the panned spaceship sfx at the beginning of the episode thanks
Very first thing I noticed which made me laugh, but even better that you directly acknowledged it in the comments lol. Great video as always!
Dw, I always dislike your videos!

me too :D
This is insane, literally i start this morning on the work of some space ships, i open youtube and you upload this.
They can hear you :p
Im joking :p
Ayyy loving the inclusion of Brad Leone, you truly are a man of culture
As a fan of bon appetit I'm always surprised to see clips on this channel lol it's so unrelated
Waveform and It's Alive with a side of Destiny is the mashup I didn't know I needed, thank you.
That engine sound was really similliar to ghost sound from Halo

How does this have so few views. This series is incredible
goes over most people
this needs 100k views at least
That little boom mic over the ship at 5:00 has me in stitches. Great job on this series, mate!
Aspiring game sound designer here, your videos are super helpful and informative, thank you.
Perhaps you could do a video on how to graple the making of your own sound library, wich is something i struggle with, keeping track of all those recordings is hard ^^
I second this 100%!
You should talk to some car companies about designing a sound for their electric vehicles.
I'd love to hear what you could make.
How is this not a multi millions subscribers channel?
Love these videos man. . been making game sound for about 15 years and still find interesting ideas from your work. Keep em coming!

Working on some sci fi bike at work right now. What the hell is that timing ? are you a psychic ?
That intro was just beautiful, & this video was very informative and insightful thank you.
Very nice to see another video!
Right when I started re watching all your videos I get this, yesyesyesyes your work is truly inspiring
i feel impressed on how sound effects are unnoticeable but things get really weird without them
You put sooo much effort into these, so sick
As a musician, this is eminently helpful to me.
My favorite youtube channel. Keep up the good work!
It was hard to imagine what a Sparrow _could_ sound like specifically because I know exactly what it sounds like in-game :D

Sound designer: oh yes this is good
Hey man, Have you ever thought about making a video about the game "For Honor". Sound design is the thing they really nailed in that game imo.
Need for speed shift 2 unleashed, best sound design till today.

Please more gun SFX videos

I am really annoyed by the fact of how hard it is to find your videos in my subscriptions (though I am subscribed)
Is there a place we can get that clip to try to design around? I love the videos.
Basically made a toned down version of the Halo 4 Ghost

What program are you using in the video to edit sounds Marshall?
Bad. ASS!
“a stock honda civic is not a great sounding car”
me, listening while driving my stock honda civic: :’(
What program do you use to edit sounds?
sorry if this is a dumb question but, what program do you use to make these sounds?
Abelton Live
T shirts are gonna be available for Patreon subscribers only ?
Romain G no! T shirts are for anyone! They only become available though at the next patreon incentive.
Will ship the T-shirt's to Argentina?
Did you use the portal gun clip that you made in a different vid?
is there any soundpack or collection of samples that you recommend to start sound designing for video games? is that available on your patreon?
Chance, Chase 🙄🙄
I love you
you keep that air conditioning real low
thanks for taking this one more seriously. A few videos ago you were putting as many memes as possible into the intro 💩
thanks for the great content!
can I ask which resonator plugin you used? doesn't sound like the Ableton one
am i the only one who doesent connect with your page in your discription?
