I'm the son of a Jewelry store owner and I can say this episode is VERY accurate as to the process of Cash 4 Gold places. Especially for mainstream brands like Jareds for example. Originally things are sold cheaply to shitty Cash 4 Gold places for the lowest price possible (maybe more if you're lucky) and most gold gets shipped out to be smelted (because most people don't like to pay for used gold), so after it gets smelted it is shipped off to 3rd world countries to get remade and eventually shipped back and the prices jacked WAYYY up. If you want to not get ripped off and like Jewelry, buy used and go to local Jewelry stores. They are more reliable sellers/buyers because they intend to keep customers and thus can't afford to rip them off and let word get out. And used Jewelry has no distinguishing value difference besides your own opinion of it and any possible damage (but even then local places never upcharge or even sell damaged Jewelry usually). Diamonds are cheap too nowadays especially because of Moissanite Diamonds (lab grown diamonds) which inflated the market and made diamonds wayyyyyy lower than ever. If you walk into a local store and then go compare the prices at mainstream sellers, you'll recognize the difference. We sell silver rings for typically $15-25 (based on weight) where you'll be charged hundreds if not thousands on these programs and mainstream sellers. Price matters for gifts I understand but the price of the Jewelry itself is set by the sellers, not the object itself. Buy smart and be smarter, that's the only way you can be sure these snakes in the grass and their horrible programs die off.
Question - why are these marked up pieces somewhat objectively gaudy? For context - there's some old jewelry passed down in my family and distributed from the vault after my grandparents died. The story and history of each piece is preserved and attached to the collection and each piece of the collection. (stuff like, one ring that had 3 Large stones from circa 100 years ago when the family was doing really well was broken down into 3 "sister" rings and given to 3 siblings. I've got one and the advice given was that the setting from that time was not really robust and each of the 3 should be reset if they're going to be worn regularly...) Which is all to say, I'm slightly aware of the topic and have brought up with a tiny bit of understanding rooted in the tradition and respect for heirlooms going back generations and have seen a variety of jewelry in this context. I recently saw a great ring when meeting someone through my S/O. It was legit. I happened to mention it to my S/O after the dinner and she's like, "oh yeah, her husband is in construction. He's out of the county on a trip, but you'll meet him when he's back." I responded that there's no way he's in construction with the ring on his wife's finger. She qualified the statement - he owns a construction company. That made sense. The ring was new, great cut that caught the light really effectively, was set in a way that really made sense for a pricey rock, and had reasonable smaller stones that didn't detract or obscure the primary stone - everything made sense. There was form, function, nuance and a bit of flash, but it worked really effectively and wasn't overstated. It was retained like you would expect something of value to be retained, not propped up and held only at the very corners. In contrast, this stuff that's marked up super high doesn't even seem to pretend to be a serious attempt at presenting to be what it's claimed to be. There's zero function and laughably many and large stones in seemingly arbitrary cuts and settings that don't really get any enhancement from the gold or silver they're matched to. Am I crazy for thinking that at the values they're trying to attach a lot of these jewelry pieces to, you'd think they'd try harder to clone the aesthetic of pieces in that price range? Is it that there's no reason to put the effort in or that they're trying to attract a customer with a certain preference? Am I just biased by the vintage of stuff I've grown up around?

Just pointing out they could have had Stan swear or say any number of vulgar things when on the phone with that guy. But they just had him say plainly he should kill himself. That is true contempt, and it’s beautiful.
Jewelry is basically like art. It has no intrinsic monetary value, aside from the materials used, which isn't much. The value is just what it is worth to the buyer.

So part one aired on April 14th, the same day as the start of the NHL playoffs. Then in part two, which aired a week later, we hear how a scandal involving the Denver Broncos was hushed up because " they were having a good year and didn't want any distractions. The exact same thing happened to the Chicago Blackhawks at the same time. It was hushed up for as long as the Bronco scandal until it all came to light. Also, the Broncos had traded Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears. Before that happened, Randy Marsh said Cutler sucks now, but he might be good someday. Stan tells Cutler that when he meets him at a party in the episode Guitar Queero. Cutler went on to a 52 and 52 record with Chicago, or TIED, just like Stan's team did in Stanley's Cup. Also, Jay Cutler has diabetes, just like Scott Malkinson. Also in 2008, the Chicago Blackhawks acquired Brian Campbell, a ginger Canadian ringer from Canada who went on to assist on the overtime winning goal to win the Cup. Nobody saw it happen though, almost like it was censored. Brian Campbell first played in Buffalo, where Patrick Kane was born and raised and who scored that overtime goal. And Jay Cutler is from Santa Clause Indiana, really.

@@RomanSionis85 it doesn’t help I’ve watched every episode of South Park hundreds of times(maybe even thousands) so I could just be remember myself watching them. The only ones of haven’t watched a lot are like the events and the past 2 or 4 seasons ,which I plan getting around to rewatching.
My eyes did mist a little when he talked about his dog. I am in my mid 30s and still have fond memories of my pets as a kid.
Was JUST rewatching your reactions while tipsy and so glad you uploaded a new one just in time!! :D
Fun fact bolo ties were invented in 1954
This is one of the saddest episodes because there is barely a real joke in it and it feels too real.
Which isn't a bad thing, it's just special.
"Barely real" and "too real" sounds like a contradiction.
@@renx81 The story of the episode feels too real. The jokes of the episodes are barely real.
I admit that real jokes is a bad phrasing since i didn't know a better word (non english native here). But Story and Jokes are two different things. Okay?
I saw this when I woke up this morning, but I've saved it for lunch time viewing. Thanks, Dash! :D
I’ve been waiting for the longest for Dash to react to “Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants” “Dead Celebrities” and also “Korn’s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery” episode
This episode is great, I never realized he said genuine faux sapphires 😂
"Faux" is a French word, it's got an "x" in it but you don't even pronounce the "x", how do you like that for prestigious?
I still choke up with grandpa talking about patches, I have sooo many pics of my dogs
People in Arizona, where Cowboys are kind of popular, they still wear them
16:50 that was more satisfying than it had any right to be
a 7 layer burrito... 99 cents.....
where the 5 layer burrito is almost $4
0:50 Queen Historia gave him that❤️😎
Thanks for this one. This happened with my grandmother so it was an important episode for me.
Another Dash upload, nice!
Ah man I forgot how much I love this episode, it had been a while since I had watched it! Appreciate the reaction, Dash! As always, I must recommend the next episode of this season, Faith Hilling, Season 16 Episode 3!! Would love to see what you think of the episode, I think it is my favorite episode of the series! Until next time!
One of my fav Leo Decaprio movies is Blood Diamond. Its about what it takes to get diamons to the retail market. It is very eye-opening, but great too.
Great reaction! This is an underrated one, if you ask me
"The Father" is Amazing Dash. You'll love it
This is one of the gems of Season 16, no pun intended. It was actually a solid season despite what some people say. Gonna throw an obscure reaction recommendation in. Gluten Free Ebola.
When I see dash and South Park I drop everything and hit play
One of my favorites glad you’re finally watching it!!!
Just pointing out they could have had Stan swear or say any number of vulgar things when on the phone with that guy. But they just had him say plainly he should kill himself. That is true contempt, and it’s beautiful.
This episode always strikes me on a deep emotional level.
I have never laughed so much at an episode classic South Park
are you planning on playing the stick of truth at some point? I think you mentioned maybe doing a playtrough of it a while ago now haha
You are great Dash, thank you for your content!
You gotta react to "Dead Kids" It has lots of Butters, Randy being weird, and Cartman vs. Token in it. All the things you would love!
The music in the gold cycle segment is still hilarious to this day 😂
Jewelry is basically like art. It has no intrinsic monetary value, aside from the materials used, which isn't much. The value is just what it is worth to the buyer.
man it’s nearly 5am and I was about to go to sleep until I saw this!!!! nvm sleep can wait I’m on holiday lol :D
1:00 I think that one Goth kid has a Bolo Tie.
watch greay dawn my man
Thanks for the recommendation, Tyler!
I’ll have to check it out. I appreciate the love 🙏
Bass to Mouth pleaseee
"The Ring"
I’m with you on Chicken Chalupas Bro!
The Bacon Club Chalupa is actually my favorite Taco Bell food ever though.
Such a good episode. That song they do for the loop though, that still gets stuck in my head here and there. So ridiculous lol
I remember the first time I watched this episode, the scene where Stan's Grandpa says he can't remember Patches' face broke me.
The film w/ Anthony Hopkins was great. Haunting depiction of progressing dementia. Really recommend, great cast all over
My grandpa still wears bolo ties.
But his first car was a horse.
I love him so much.
I hope he doesn't die.
"6:02 Jou schuld see Next (vitth Bob Odenkirk)."
Dude you did the video with the samurai sword. I forgot about that. Early days of the internet. Awesome.
One of the funniest episodes I’ve ever seen I still watch it from time to time. I remember when dash was only reacting to clips and he was reacting to the kys parts from stan and the old lady to the salesman and I’ve been dying for a full watch ever since 😅
"10:59..The Life and Times of Harvey Milk that Jello Biafra sceitd inn hissz 3rd atrd albam I Blow Minds for a Living.."
It's definitely dorky looking, that's for sure. Not that it's a bolo tie, but that it's a REALLY dorky looking bolo tie.
"11:19...issz that Legends of the Fall (asz opooszd tou thie Opeth tuun)?"
00:55 Maybe in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada.
Thanks dash I love your reaction I left the TV on the other night on one of the random channels and it started playing the shopping network and I was honestly surprised it still going like who buys Stuff from there now we got all the stuff online unless they generally do exploit old people who don’t have access to the Internet Amazon eBay all that
I honestly think Matt and Trey make fun of each other in the show.
See the “you F Asian lady “ joke directed towards cartman/Trey. 😂
"The father" with Hopkins is really good!
My reaction to the notification:
“HOLY S**T HE DID CASH FOR GOLD!!!!!!”
Thanks for making my weekend, Dash.
How do you like that for prestigious 😂
