Selling my sedan and keeping my sub/amp/cap. So glad that not only did I keep the included resistor but I also recently found it while tidying up a drawer. Thank you!
How do people usually deal with capacitor when you're doing routine battery maintenance, or perhaps you're replacing your aging 12v battery? Would people typically not have it disconnected long enough to drain it, so when you attach the battery again, you wouldn't see a massive spark? Or do people keep a charging board near the cap and always charge it when messing with the battery?
What if I was just starting to charge the cap and had to disconnect and not finish charging it, can I just jump back in and recharge it? Or do I have to do something else? Or did I damage it?
You’re supposed to discharge it completely when it’s disconnected from power. Then start over with the charging process. The cap will only hold power for like a minute when disconnected but they need to be either discharged or connected to power. They can be damaged by not being one or the other.
@@HiFiVector ah ok yea I did not discharge it or had it connected to power, had to cut the process shortly after connecting power to the resistor so I guess I will have to buy a new one
I bought this today but now i feel like i made a mistake because i only use my vehicle for recreational purposes on a weekend so I don’t think this will work for me
As long as your battery doesn’t go dead and you drive your car every week or two it’ll be fine. The only problem using a capacitor is if you let your battery go completely dead.
Thanks for the reply, I usually disconnect the negative terminal of the battery while the vehicle is not in use to prevent it from dying quickly over time…. But that wouldn’t be good for the capacitor too right?
Correct that would not be good but you can also buy an expensive battery maintainer and put on your vehicle that will actually help your battery in the long run and prevent that from happening here is a link for a great one I use if you’re interested. amzn.to/3XBsCBy
Thanks so much man I appreciate this and its on Black Friday sale i will definitely buy one now and I’ve subbed to the channel im about to install my own system soon and your reviews are great
so when its been sitting without a car battery I need to install a flashlite bulb between the fuse parts going to the cap, which is easily accessible, until the bulb goes dim.
Is there a brand you recommend for a 1000 or 1500 watt system. ? I saw a guy get like 6 caps for his sytem and it help it got louder and didnt kill his battery. 😊
I don’t recommend cap you be better off getting a second car battery and just sticking in the trunk even if it’s a Cheap small one is better than a cap
I don't know how many of these I've seen so far but what is the power supply where is the power coming from to charge the capacitor nobody has said where the power is coming from
So is it safe to not discharge the capacitor through out the day? Or do I have to discharge the capacitor everytime I go into a store? Please respond lol new to this
No, you don’t ever have to discharge the capacitor unless you remove it from the vehicle or remove power from it. For instance, if you’re replacing your car battery and you need to remove the car battery. Then you would want to discharge the resistor and remove it from power before you remove your car battery, so basically you only need to manually charge and discharge it when first applying power to it and then when removing Power from it
Q. 1: do capacitors come in higher farads and would using a higher farad cap be better for car audio? Q. 2: Can you use a 2nd battery WITH the capacitor in your audio setup?
Just watched a bunch of videos on this and this was the best most simple and easy to understand.
Great job 👍🏽

Thanks for this ive seen many saying the resistor doesnt work i knew they were just doing it wrong its been 20 years since i put a cap in lol
What resistance in the resistor

Disconnect and discharge the capacitor before you remove the cars battery.
I have a 2.0 audiopipe capacitor and I lost my resistor.. how do I find out witch one I need
We have them on the hifi vector website
What about capacitors without digital cap
What did you use to charge it up a regular car battery?

how much value resistor that i need to recharge the caps?
What if you don't have a resistor?
You can use a 12v test light
what ohm capacitor and does it matter for the amount of FARADS that the capacitor has?
Thanks brother
Best video I found. I hooked mine up without doing this today. Never knew about this. Only had it on for a minute. Will it be okay?
Quick question can you use more than one capacitor in line?
Yes
@@HiFiVector Thank you very much
Would you have a video on how to connect more than one capacitor or an battery together?
I don’t sorry.
Thanks bro that was very very helpful
Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you.
If reusing an old cap do you need to do the recharge step?
Yes
@@HiFiVector thank you

The capacitor stays on when the vehicle is off. Is that Normal?
Yes it’s normal unless yours has a remote key on terminal. Some do some don’t.
@@HiFiVector thanks, it has an LED display showing voltage. I was worried that it may drain my battery
@@AF-ib7ts does it drain your battery?

Hey, I had a question for you. Do you know how to charge a rockville rfc30 farad Hi buy it brand new I try to figure out how to charge first time
Not 100 percent on that model but should be similar to how I mentioned in video.
I don't know how many of these I've seen so far but what is the power supply where is the power coming from to charge the capacitor nobody has said where the power is coming from
The car battery and alternator is the power supply.
I have a rockville 50 fared cap. What size resistor should i use
I've got the Stinger 50 farad cap and I just used to test light and it worked fine
Like this dude said you just need a buffer to kind of slow down the voltage so it can charge evenly and slowly

Will any value resistor work?
No it must be a certain kind.
I've always done it with a test light instead of a resistor
Can't you just use a 12v light bulb
Q. 1: do capacitors come in higher farads and would using a higher farad cap be better for car audio?
Q. 2: Can you use a 2nd battery WITH the capacitor in your audio setup?
Yes caps come in a wide range of farads ratings. Yes you can use a CAP with single or multiple battery systems.
Super caps are 3000f at 2.7v so 6 would make a 500f bank but even at 500f that's not much power
