    Thank you very much! That is the most technical that I have heard one speak on YT in regards to a cap.
    I have been searching for I for about caps for a long time now due to dead batteries!
    Would you by any chance know how can I diagnose if I have a bad cap that does not "auto cut-off ". I do the same process multiple times before installing into my vehicle, but it will still drain my battery instantly then I pull the battery and cap out to charge again.
    However I can "make it work" by installing charged batt and cap then start the vehicle and connect to the cap which seems to work as long as I go for a long drive.
    If the vehicle sits for 3 days or more without being on trickle charge or driven, the vehicle battery drains and my cap.
    I have replaced the battery multiple times (I keep 2 at times, one on charge, one in the vehicle), 2 new alternators(275amp).
    I am at the point to where I think wiring dual batteries with a battery isolator would be better than my current setup.
    Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you for your time if you have read all of this,

    General background to hopefully you to understand me and the troubleshooting / testing that I have already performed before taking all this time to write this! Lol
    I am a gear head that went to automotive college which has become to be a asweome carrer working as a certified IPC-J STD 001 NASA technician, but yet I am still unclear of how this cap works since I have never seen the manual or any of the drawings/schematics for the device😔
    Thanks again

      I believe I was using a 12V Dell server power supply to charge the cap. It plugs into a 120V wall socket. I had gotten that one from either Amazon or Ebay.

      Percy Carr caps are a waste of time and money u want to have a good quality source of continuous power u should get a drycell battery for your sounds. I’m running a drycell for my sounds and it hits much harder than that cap would. They’re a bit expensive but well worth it

    I’ve got one of these in my truck and whenever I get in my truck the numbers on it are lit up, which means it is always running and sucking juice out of my truck, how do I fix this

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому

      hello, some capacitors have a remote turn on circuit. If yours had one you could wire that remote turn on to a switch power in your truck on put a toggle switch in line with it and turn it on manually. Some other capacitors may come on when there is power on the main positive. Then you might have to add a high current relay in line with it, and put its remote turn on to a switched power.

    Great video and made it so easy to understand.. a lot of the videos on UA-cam try to give terms or some other crap and makes it difficult to understand.. I don’t need the original terms just straight to the point like this video!!

    hello,
    can i charge an ultracapacitor ( 500F-2.7V ) with a PC power supply on 12 Volt and stop charging when the capacitor reaches 2.7 V or is this dangerous or impossible ?
    thx
    Patrick

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому

      Hello I am not sure what the specifications are for your capacitor. I have played with capacitors a long time ago, and I had gotten caps to fail, little small caps you see on a circuit board, either by cranking a lot of voltage through them or reversing the leads. You could probably put a few extra volts into it. You can look up a Voltage regulator schematic only, or get on Amazon and see if they have a variable DC circuit board for relatively cheap, and dial down to the voltage to the 2.7V.

      @@Bouray1 this is my first time playing with capacitor, was trying to replace a capacitor of casio watch which originally had Panasonic GC capacitor of 2.4V 0.68F, replaced with 2.75V 0.75F (actually cut the 5.5V 1.5F in half) it wasn't charging through the solar panel the watch had. So i kinda jump charged the cap with 5V DC supply (No resistor any sort). It's working for watch but not sure if capacitor is damaged. Any tips for me ? Correction for what I did wrong?

    That's not how you discharge a capacitor. Capacitors do not like to be charged fast. And they do not like to be discharged fast. I am a certified small electronics technician with 32 years behind the bench. The proper way to discharge this capacitor is to use the enclosed resistor and run it from positive to negative. This will allow the capacitor to drain but not drain fast! It will take it about 3 minutes to discharge to 0.2 volts. Always use the included resistor to charge to a strong 13.1 volts. You will find the capacitor holds a higher voltage if you do this. But never ever discharge a capacitor of any type this fast! That's why they include a resistor it's not only for the charging but for the discharging. And you might want to get a better meter. Had one of those harbor

      Maybe to you.. However, to many people barely learning about it would be extremely useful. Especially being that most other UA-cam videos the people explaining use technical words, phrases, and meanings to where the noob won’t understand. Even better an experienced person would also appreciate this content. It’s ridiculous when people explain using difficult to understand content. It’s like what’s the point? People search this stuff because they in the first place don’t understand and when they search then come across a person using technical advice… What’s the point of even posting your video for those who need help. This gentleman did great the whole way through.
