yes! Pepe is back, i love him, he is so precious. It seems there is something going on with his leg, poor lil dude, could be because of old age :( Pepe, I wish you and your owners all the best!
Thanks for loving Pepe so much! Your observation on his leg is spot on! He injured it several years ago. Fortunately, it healed more than good enough for him to continue his very active lifestyle and also to exhibit his territorial behavior up to this day!! Thanks for watching! :)
You may have noticed in Pepe’s videos that he is extremely territorial, and more so because he has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself for over 10 years now. At this late stage in his life, I don’t want him getting involved in territorial disputes with another finch. I just want him to continue living his very happy, stress free life! Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s happiness! :)
Thank you for sharing. What a wonderful bird and video! I have over 100 zebra finches. I started with 6 one year ago. I loved them so much that I built an indoor (18x10x7ft ) aviary in the basement and outdoor (12x5) aviary for them. Very morning, I spent an hour with them. They got fresh water, fresh seeds, fresh veggies and spray millets. I would love to bring them upstairs to the house. But I have two cats and I don’t want to run any risks...
Thanks for watching! :) Wow - You truly do love zebra finches! Taking great care of over 100 of them in 2 large aviaries that you built for them! They are so very lucky to have you as their caretaker!:))
Glad to know you have a zebra finch. They are so cute and adorable! Sometimes Pepe also behaves just like your finch when I play videos of other zebra finches. Thanks for watching! :)
I am so happy he is adapting well! Everything seems to be new and interesting for him, while other zebra finches get all stressed out by a move. I remember when we got 2 new zebbies (both male) from a rescue center 11 years ago; they were soooo nervous as soon as someone entered the room. Luckily they got used to us and lived long and fulfilling lives. You seem like a wonderful bird parent, and I'm sure Pepe gets all the attention and care he needs and more, thanks to you. I really enjoy all your videos of Pepe :)
Thank you for your very nice comments and also for sharing the beautiful story of your 2 male zebra finches!! You figured correctly that Pepe gets a lot of attention from me, so much so that he has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend. This is why I can record him up close without him getting alarmed, but only on the condition that I don’t touch his stuff which is pretty much every thing in his room! :) Thanks again for being a longtime fan of Pepe and enjoying all of his videos! :))
Pepe is the spitting image of my Tattoo when he was still around. Behavior and all. I wish I could have given him his own room like you give Pepe but we barely had enough room in our house for us. Tattoo lived to be 14 years old and I hope Pepe has just as long a life as well. Thanks for the video. It was like a trip down memory lane.
So glad to hear that watching Pepe’s video gives you fond memories of your dear Tattoo. It is amazing how alike male zebra finches can look! It is obvious that you took fantastic care of Tattoo because he lived to be 14 years old! I feel certain that he was one happy little finch!:))
Thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :) Pepe is adjusting very well, especially after his furniture was delivered; thereby, making his room look familiar again! Thanks again for being a great fan of Pepe Caliente! :))
Amazing to watch I just got my first Finch today I hope I can build in him what you have my star finches are just starting to come around to coming closer
The more time you spend with your finches, the more comfortable they eventually will be in interacting with you, to the point that people will start to think that you trained them! Thanks for watching! :)
I can see why you’ve had zebra finches for over 30 years, they are so adorable! I agree with you that they are the best!! Thanks for watching Pepe’s videos and enjoying them, and also for loving the little cutie pie! :))
You take such good care of your finch, looks like you spend time with him to. Throwing my 2 cents in, he needs a buddy, finches do not like to be alone. I've had finches for over 8 years now, have a avary of 21 right now, with 3 flying free in my place.
Thanks for watching and also for sharing your extensive experience with finches, and also for your concern that Pepe might be a lonely bird. Fortunately, Pepe hasn’t exhibited any signs that are typical of lonely birds such as plucking their feathers, showing a complete lack of interest in preening, eating or building numerous nests or just being plain inactive. Instead, over the last 10 years, Pepe has shown signs of being an extremely happy bird on a daily basis by merrily chirping his day away while building numerous nests, eating his millet seed, grit and greens, taking at least 2 baths a day and sunbathing in the direct sunlight several times a day; and finally of course, not hesitating to peck me whenever I touch or attempt to touch his stuff and my stuff too! As you correctly noted, I do spend an enormous amount of time in his room since my main computer is in it, and I also do all my guitar practicing in there. I think Pepe has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend, because he interacts with me on a daily basis by preening on me and also taking naps on me. I have made quite a few videos documenting his interaction with me. Pepe is extremely territorial, and has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself 24/7 for 10 years, and so I have no intention of getting him a partner. I just want him to continue enjoying his happy little life, and I do not want to risk him getting involved in any territorial disputes with another finch. Thanks for caring about Pepe’s well-being! :))
Pepe is so cute. Ever thought about getting him a buddy? I've had many finches in the past. So this was great to see the human with the finch but they are flocking birds so 2 birds are good🤓🐦🐦
I became Pepe’s caretaker 11 years ago when he was found as a wild fledgling, and ever since then he has been living a very happy, busy and carefree life. He interacts with me on a daily basis since I spend lots of time in his room as my main computer is in it, and I also do a lot of reading and guitar practicing in there. Even though he has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend, he does let me know on a regular basis that he is of higher rank than me by bossing me around by pecking me if I attempt to touch his stuff and my stuff too! Introducing another finch at this late stage in his life could be hazardous considering how extremely territorial he is as depicted in his videos. I just want little Pepe to continue living his super happy, stress free life without any territorial disputes. Thanks for watching and looking out for Pepe’s interest! :)
So cute pepe,, he's the only bird right, I have a zebra finch & some people say they can not live alone,, & I'm like you sure cause my grandma had one & he was fine alone
I’ve had Pepe for 12 years, which is way up there in age for a zebra finch! Since he has had his room all to himself for such a long time, he is set in his ways and extremely territorial as depicted in his videos, which is why I have concerns with him getting in territorial disputes if I were to introduce another finch, especially at this late stage in his life. Being a social bird, Pepe adopted me as his surrogate bird friend because I do spend lots of time in his room since my main computer is in there, and I also do my guitar practice in there. He interacts with me and often preens or take naps on me, but when he is in his territorial mood he will not hesitate to peck me if I touch any of his stuff which is pretty much every thing in his room, including my stuff - Lol. Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s well-being! :)
No doubt, Pepe is a very cute child. I actually use the word child for all my pets because they are my kids. I do have quiet a few. Cocktail, Fisher, lutino, Java and finches. My finches have laid eggs and by 25 the they should hatch. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Good to hear the depth of the love you have for your family of birds! :) It won’t be long before your family will increase in size after the eggs hatch! Wishing you and your family all the best! Thanks for watching! :)
How is Pepe doing? There hasn't been any new videos of him recently I do hope he's ok and doing well 💜💜 He seems like such cute and sweet little birb 💜💜
Unfortunately, he passed away at 13, well above the average lifespan of around 5-7 years for a zebra finch. It could be that living in a stress free environment with his own room contributed to his long and happy life. Thanks for really appreciating Pepe's videos! :)
Pepe has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself for over 10+ years now, and so outside aviary is out of the question, especially since he is such a tiny little bird! You may have noticed from his videos that he is extremely territorial; which is why I have no intention running the risk of him getting involved in territorial disputes with another finch; especially at this late stage in his life. I just want him to continue enjoying his very happy and carefree life! Thanks for watching! :)
I can understand how your finches behave because when I first became Pepe’s caretaker, he was very skittish and would fly away every time I approached him. Eventually, over the years he grew so accustomed to my presence that he is no longer afraid of me, especially since I’ve been taking care of him for 10+ years now. Thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :)
Oh my , what a coincidence. My finches live like this, they're 3 years old, but I might have to move.I keep thinking how they will react to a new place, and how to handle the whole situation.
Glad to know your finches are living the good life like my Pepe! When you do move, I think your finches will do just fine since they easily adapt to new living conditions. Wishing you and your finches all the best!
He really needs a friend buddy I have 30 charcoal Zeb’s & 4 pairs of Gouldians and sit and watch mine for hrs I plan on getting star finches very soon and they are much more fun in pairs 😊
Glad to know you enjoy watching your finches for many hours!:) In my case, I became Pepe’s caretaker when he was found as a wild fledgling separated from his flock. Now that he has been living with me for 11 years, I think he has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend because he interacts with me on a daily basis as I do spend lots of time in his room especially since my primary computer is in it, and I also read and practice my guitar in there. Being a wild bird, Pepe is extremely territorial as evidenced in his videos. At this late stage in his life, I don’t want him getting into any territorial disputes with another finch. I just want him to continue living his very happy, carefree and stress free life. Thanks for looking out for Pepe’s interest! :)
You figured correctly that Pepe is a happy bird and that he gets a lot of attention from me. I do spend lots of time in his room because my primary computer is in there, and I also do most of my guitar practicing in there. I’ve been his caretaker for 10+ years, and so I think he has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend. Thanks for watching! :)
The stapler is just one of the objects that Pepe liked to sleep by which is why I put it by the lamp stand when he was moved to a new home. In his older video "A Zebra FInch's favorite sleeping spots", you can see other objects that he liked sleeping next to. Thanks for appreciating Pepe and watching his videos! :)
How’d you do it to tame him?? My finches won’t let me. Only the one I call Gus is barely knowing me after months of trying. He recognizes me when I call his name but still won’t let me get near. Really cute finch you got there. This is my first time watching your videos. I think I’ll watch some later.
I can understand how your finches behave because when I first became Pepe’s caretaker (11 years ago), he was very skittish and would fly away every time I approached him. Eventually, over the years he grew so accustomed to my presence that he is no longer afraid of me, especially since I spend lots of time in his room because my main computer is in it, and I also read books and do my guitar practicing in there. He interacts with me on his own accord, and so when he feels like bonding with me, he will come on me to preen or take a nap or just chirp away. When he is in his territorial mood, he won’t let me touch his stuff, which is pretty much every thing in his room - Lol. Wishing you all the best with your finches, and thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :)
Thanks for looking out for Pepe’s interest! I’ve had Pepe for 10 years now, which is way up there in age for a zebra finch!!! He is set in his ways and extremely territorial, and I have no intentions to disrupt his very happy life by introducing another finch this late in his life.
A male zebra finch typically has bright orange cheeks, white speckled brown feathers and a black band across its breast. You can check out the video I made “A zebra finch is trying to incubate the buttons on a remote control”, where you can see these distinctive male zebra finch features that I describe in that one stanza in the song I wrote for him. Thanks for watching! :)
I did not get Pepe as a baby and I did not hand feed him because he was fully capable of feeding himself when I first got him after he was found late one evening in a boy’s restroom (by a custodian of a school) as a wild fledgling that had been somehow separated from his flock. Since the custodian couldn’t take care of him for that night because he had cats, I volunteered to become Pepe’s caretaker. I am flattered that you think I tamed Pepe, but the truth of the matter is that all of Pepe's behavior was completely that of his own making. All I did was give him the freedom to do whatever he wanted to do, and whenever, so that his wild instincts would remain intact such as being extremely territorial and build numerous nests at various locations in his room, some of which were hidden from view. I preferred that he slept in his cage at night, but NO NO NO … Pepe would decide for himself in which one of his nests he wanted to sleep in for the night. I did spend a lot of time in his room because my main computer was in it, and I also read and played my guitars in there. So, Pepe got accustomed to my presence in his room, and being a social bird he interacted with me on his own accord by deciding when he felt like bonding with me by landing on me to preen or take a nap or just happily chirp. When he got in his territorial mood, he wouldn’t let me touch his stuff which was pretty much every thing in his room, including my stuff - Lol. I was fortunate to have been his caretaker for 13 years! Thanks for watching! :
Yup, Pepe is an awesome little fella! He’s been living a very happy, stress free life for 11 years now, which is up there in age for a zebra finch. As depicted in his videos, he is set in his ways and extremely territorial especially since he has had his room all to himself for such a long time! So, I don’t have any intention of introducing another finch at this late stage in his life. Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s well-being! :)
Pepe’s behavior was that of his own making! Since I was his caretaker for 13 years, he had grown accustomed to my presence, especially since I spent lots of time in his room because my main computer is in it, and I also read books and do my guitar practicing in there. So, people got the impression that I tamed him, when in actuality I did nothing special to alter his behavior. In my opinion, over the years, the more time you spend with your canary, the more familiar it will get with your presence. Thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :)
Have you fed this finch by hand since you were little and why don't you get him a female because it's sad that such a smart bird (PEPE) has no offspring? Surely you know that these birds love the company of birds!
Pepe’s behavior is that of his own making! I haven’t done anything special to tame him. It’s just that he has grown accustomed to my presence since I’ve been his caretaker for the last 12 years. Thanks for watching his video! :)
I am flattered that you think I tamed Pepe, but the truth of the matter is that his behavior is completely that of his own making! It’s just that I have been his caretaker for 11 years, which is why he is so comfortable with my presence; thereby, giving the impression that I tamed him. @@fradsou I have a new pet canary for a year now. he's very comfortable around me. Right now he won't let me touch him but I hope over time our relationship will lie yours and Pepe. :)
Pepe’s behavior is actually that of his own making! I really haven’t done anything special to alter his natural behavior. It’s just that he has grown accustomed to my presence as I’ve been his caretaker for the last 12 years; thereby, giving the impression that I have tamed him. Thanks for watching his video! :)
10years. Pepe’s coloring may appear to be different in the videos because over the years I have used a variety of standalone cameras, ipads, imacs, macbooks, and iphones under different lighting conditions. Just on my iphone alone, the coloring and picture quality is vastly different for the front (selfie mode) and the back camera. One thing guaranteed is that all the cameras capture the personality of Pepe Caliente! Thanks for watching! :)
Yes, the little bird is enjoying his very happy and stress free life. He loves his independence to do whatever he wants to do in his room; and of course bossing me around whenever he feels like it!
Not to worry! Pepe’s leg looks worse than it really is. He did injure it several years ago. Fortunately, it healed good enough for him to continue living his very active lifestyle and also to continue exhibiting his territorial behavior by not hesitating to peck me whenever I touch his stuff! Thanks for watching and for your concern for Pepe’s well-being! :))
Coolgamer4283 - Pepe is okay, thanks for asking! Pepe may look different to you because he is 10 years old, which is up in age for a zebra finch. In any case, he is still very active and territorial as shown in the video. Thanks for watching! :)
C D - To answer your question, I did not have Pepe since he was a baby. He was found late one evening as a fledgeling in a boy’s restroom by the custodian of a school. It appeared that Pepe got separated from his flock. The custodian couldn’t take care of him for that night because he had cats, and so Pepe spent that particular night at my home, and I have enjoyed taking care of him ever since then! Other than being Pepe’s caretaker, I really haven’t done anything special to train him. It’s just that he has grown accustomed to my presence since I spend lots of time in his room (working on my computer or playing my guitar), which is why he interacts with me; thereby giving the impression that he has been trained by me. Thanks for watching! :)
It's just any regular cotton such as the kind that women use to remove their makeup, and can be bought in a store such as Walgreens. Regarding the tissue paper, I use Kleenex tissue paper and tear it in little strips and leave it for Pepe to use as nesting material.
Pepe is a male zebra finch with the typical characteristics of a male zebra finch: bright orange cheeks, white speckled brown feathers and a black band across his breast. Thanks for watching! :)
Since Pepe has been living with me for over 10 years, I think he has adopted me as his surrogate bird friend! As documented in his videos, he is doing remarkably well! Thanks for watching! :)
Pepe seems to like the stapler because he made a nest between the stapler and the tissue box next to it. In the beginning of this video you can see that he actually slept for night in this particular nest of his!
Sorry for the late reply. I just saw your question when I was replying to another commenter. Pepe has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself for the last 12 years, and so he is set in his ways which is why he is so extremely territorial as documented in some of his previous videos. At this late stage in his life, I have no plans to disrupt his very happy and stress free life by getting him involved in resolving territorial disputes with another finch. Thanks for watching and looking out for Pepe’s well-being!

Hi Hassan. I’m doing well, and hope you are doing well too! Appreciate you being a long time fan of Pepe! :)
So cute ❤❤😘😘
Thanks for watching! :)
So Adorable
Thanks for appreciating Pepe and for watching his video! :)
he looks like mine too and i kinda like every finch in world!
Love Pepe💓
Glad to know you love Pepe, and thanks for watching! :))
Pepe so cute😍
I think so too! Thanks for watching! :)
It’s cute ahhhhhhhh it’s beautiful ahh AWWWW Pepe is to cute
Thanks for watching and appreciating Pepe's cuteness!
@@fradsou Thanks, I shall update further once my grandsons and granddaughters are born.
Pepe is so cute 🥰
Thanks for watching! :)
I think Pepe loves to play in tissue paper
Aww so cute :3
Thanks for watching! :)
How is Pepe doing?
There hasn't been any new videos of him recently I do hope he's ok and doing well 💜💜
He seems like such cute and sweet little birb 💜💜
Unfortunately, he passed away at 13, well above the average lifespan of around 5-7 years for a zebra finch. It could be that living in a stress free environment with his own room contributed to his long and happy life. Thanks for really appreciating Pepe's videos! :)
@@fradsou oh no I'm so sorry to hear that
I figured as much tbh
He may be gone but he'll definitely not be forgotten, god bless him
CUTE Finch
Agree! Thanks for watching his videos! :)
Get him a friend!! an aviary outside perhaps?
Pepe has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself for over 10+ years now, and so outside aviary is out of the question, especially since he is such a tiny little bird! You may have noticed from his videos that he is extremely territorial; which is why I have no intention running the risk of him getting involved in territorial disputes with another finch; especially at this late stage in his life. I just want him to continue enjoying his very happy and carefree life! Thanks for watching! :)
My zebra finches are crazy how did you make pepe so calm?
I can understand how your finches behave because when I first became Pepe’s caretaker, he was very skittish and would fly away every time I approached him. Eventually, over the years he grew so accustomed to my presence that he is no longer afraid of me, especially since I’ve been taking care of him for 10+ years now. Thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :)
Pepe so cute❤️
Thanks for watching!
Aww, he is so cute! I have three Zebra Finches: Esau(male), Jacob(male) and Atarah(female).
Glad to know you have zebra finches. They are so much fun! Thanks for watching! :)
Get ready for one of the males to die, I had two males and a female and my males fighted till one died :(
Pepe. Need love with pepa 😂
Pepe needs another finch to keep him company. He looks like one of my finches.
Thanks for looking out for Pepe’s interest, and also for watching his video! :) Glad to know you have zebra finches because they so adorable! :))
Aww he’s trying to make a nest
Yes. Building nests is what he loves to do. Thanks for watching! :)
fradsou your welcome and can you make more videos of him
I'll see what I can do. Thanks for showing interest in wanting to see more videos of Pepe! :)
I have never seen a lone Finch before. Pepe looks happy though, I guess he gets alot of attention from you :)
I have a budgie called squeak love your finch beautiful colour cute name
Pepe is so endearing. Why does he like to sleep by the stapler?
The stapler is just one of the objects that Pepe liked to sleep by which is why I put it by the lamp stand when he was moved to a new home. In his older video "A Zebra FInch's favorite sleeping spots", you can see other objects that he liked sleeping next to. Thanks for appreciating Pepe and watching his videos! :)
@@fradsou I will watch again. Thank you. Happy Holidays.
He needs a female too ;-)
Lol - Thanks for watching! :)
Seriously mate he's getting frustrated and all...make him more happy :-)
Thanks for looking out for Pepe’s interest! I’ve had Pepe for 10 years now, which is way up there in age for a zebra finch!!! He is set in his ways and extremely territorial, and I have no intentions to disrupt his very happy life by introducing another finch this late in his life.
@fradsou what gender is pepe
@@RPPLZ_Gaming male
I just got 2 Zebra Finches. Should we let them fly around in the house or keep them in the cage?
pepe is very cute
I think so too! Thanks for watching! :)
How do you tell which ones female or male I've been wondering that about these type of birds
How is he so tame? Did you feed him as a baby? Hand-feed him the time you got him?

Glad to know that your uncle also has the same kind of cage that Pepe really likes a lot! Thanks for watching! :)

Awesome little fella. He needs a wife💕
Hi ive got a canary which i had for 2 yr now and isnt tame is it still possible to tame it
Pepe’s behavior was that of his own making! :)
@@fradsou omg u had ur finch for 13 plus years people say they only live 5 to 10 yrs

Thanks for sharing your story on Cherry. Interesting that his former name was also Pepe! Thanks for watching! :)
I have two Zebra Finches, both are females. However, one or both of the birds lay eggs. Is this possible?
Yes, it's possible for your females to lay unfertilized eggs! Thanks for watching Pepe's video! :)
Good
Thanks for watching! :)
Have you fed this finch by hand since you were little and why don't you get him a female because it's sad that such a smart bird (PEPE) has no offspring? Surely you know that these birds love the company of birds!
Yes pepe is cute
I may be biased, but I also think Pepe is cute! :)
he's so cute! how did you tame him?
Pepe’s behavior is that of his own making! I haven’t done anything special to tame him. It’s just that he has grown accustomed to my presence since I’ve been his caretaker for the last 12 years. Thanks for watching his video! :)

I pronunce Pepe (peeped)
How old is Pepe? Considering I think you have done videos about him for 4 years (5 maybe now) and he had his colors back then ( orange beak etc )
fradsou thanks wow! I would’ve guessed he was 5. Have a good night! ( day evening what ever :p )

Can't believe his alive
Yes, the little bird is enjoying his very happy and stress free life. He loves his independence to do whatever he wants to do in his room; and of course bossing me around whenever he feels like it!
Oh my, what happened to his leg?
Not to worry! Pepe’s leg looks worse than it really is. He did injure it several years ago. Fortunately, it healed good enough for him to continue living his very active lifestyle and also to continue exhibiting his territorial behavior by not hesitating to peck me whenever I touch his stuff! Thanks for watching and for your concern for Pepe’s well-being! :))
I wish my 2 finches, where as tame as yours, so skittish, mine are...
Pepe was also very skittish at first, but over the years he got used to my presence. Thanks for watching! :)

He needs a roommate :)
Please provide a partner for PEPE.He feels lonely
Pepe hasn’t exhibited any signs that are typical of lonely birds such as plucking their feathers, showing a complete lack of interest in preening, eating or building numerous nests or just being plain inactive. Instead, over the last 10+ years, Pepe has shown signs of being an extremely happy bird on a daily basis by merrily chirping his day away while building numerous nests, eating his millet seed, grit and greens, taking at least 2 baths a day and sunbathing in the direct sunlight several times a day; and finally of course, not hesitating to peck me whenever I touch or attempt to touch his stuff and my stuff too! Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s well-being!

Other than being Pepe’s caretaker, I really haven’t done anything special to train him. Please tell me what's that white thing ...?
The white nest building material consists of cotton and strips of tissue paper. Thanks for watching! :)
From where could I buy that materials ....!!
It's just any regular cotton such as the kind that women use to remove their makeup, and can be bought in a store such as Walgreens. Regarding the tissue paper, I use Kleenex tissue paper and tear it in little strips and leave it for Pepe to use as nesting material.
