I actually did nothing special to tame Pepe! His behavior is really that of his own making! I just provided the conditions for him to be himself, and do whatever he wants to do at the time of his choosing; by leaving the entrance to his 2 cages open 24/7, making sure he is supplied with ample food, water and nest building material. He goes into one of his cages to eat when he feels hungry or thirsty, and also to sleep for the night. However, in the summer months, he does like to sleep at different locations in the room as documented in his video "A Zebra Finch's favorite sleeping spots". For most of the day he is somewhere in the room, either sunbathing, preening, napping or building several nests all over the room, including in the closet. Since he is a social bird, he interacts with me several times a day (on his own accord) by landing on me to preen or nap or warn me to not touch his stuff.

What I've been feeding zebra finches is just finch food that I buy at the local pet store that includes millet. I also feed him grit and crushed eggshells and also veggies such as spinach and brocolli. Thank for watching and subscribing!

Zebra and Donut - Glad to hear that you were able to get your male finch back, since he flew into your garage and not outside! Pepe escaped out of his room several times by squeezing himself through the little tolerance space between the door and the floor. Fortunately, all doors to the outside were closed, and he eventually flew back into his room. Anyway, to be on the safe side, I place an object outside his door to block that space below the door, and I enter his room very cautiously because one time he flew out just as I was entering his room.
Pepe is too cute. I keep watching this video. Lol

i have 2 zebra finches and they recently layed eggs, although they aren’t sitting on them only sometimes what should i do?
