- Looks can be deceiving! At first glance, Pepe Caliente’s nest highlighted in this video appears to be just a large nest, but later on in the video you will see that Pepe has built a much more intricate nest with a hidden cave-like hideaway! Enjoy! :))
RIP Pepe. You will be missed by many. Thank you so much for these videos.
Really?

My zebra finch, Skittles, is still here and I've had him for 10 years. He's still holding up, just not nearly as active as he used to be when he was young. I'm appreciating all the time I have with him.
Rest in peace, Pepe. Fly high

Oh, I love this. It's so nice to know that he is doing great. It's been a while. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching and loving this video! :)
Oh, just thought about Pepe's age now. Not to be alarming at all but, watch out for his behavior because, these birds are notorious on hiding problems. I would place things in an easier accessible spot just in case he struggles in some way on moving around.
@@leob4878 No need to worry about little Pepe because I always keep his room uncluttered so that all his food, water and cages are easily accessible. Thanks for your concern for Pepe’s well-being! :) His behavior hasn’t changed much. He still spends his day singing and flying all over in his room, and maintains several nests while building new ones! Being a social bird, he gets the urge several times a day to interact with me! Due to his active lifestyle and high metabolic rate, he does have to eat several times every hour, followed by siestas at various locations in his room before resuming his busy daily schedule of his own making!
@@fradsou Wonderful news.
I remember Pepe, respect from Italy. 🇮🇹
Thanks for thinking of Pepe and still watching his videos! :)
Man I think you should bring Pepe a hen. He has your companionship and that's very cute. But Pepe looks very lonely...
No need to worry about Pepe! He hasn’t exhibited any behavior that is typical among lonely birds such as plucking their own feathers, showing a complete lack of interest in singing, preening, eating or building numerous nests or just being plain inactive and just staring into space. Instead, over the last 12+ years, Pepe has displayed characteristic signs of being an extremely happy bird on a daily basis by merrily chirping his day away while building numerous nests, eating his millet seed, grit and greens, taking at least 2 baths a day and sunbathing in the direct sunlight several times a day; and finally of course, bossing me around when he is in his territorial mood by pecking me if I touch or attempt to touch his stuff and my stuff too such as my computer mouse and keyboard and even my iPad! Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s well-being!
@@fradsou That's cute, I wish him well being.(Typing it while my zebra finches are chirping hell outta their throats.😅)Every Pepe deserves friend like @fradsou .
Glad to hear you also have zebra finches as they are such cute, adorable little birds! Yup, they can certainly chirp away! As a matter of fact, when I am in Pepe's room, I don't make phone calls or take phone calls because his chirping can sometimes be so loud to the point of distracting me and the caller! Wishing you and your zebra finches all the best! :)
Oh! My Word! Thank you for this wonderful treat of precious tiny silly cute adorable funny priceless Zebra finch bird Pepe. I have missed him. Too funny about the spinach. My female zebra goes nuts over it. She's being super broody now and I just tried enticing her from the nest with a leaf. She hasn't budged. The eggs are not fertile since there's no male. Pepe is so content in his burd cave.

Hello Fradsou and Pepe, happy 2021!! :)
Happy 2021 to you too from both of us! :))
how long need to take to bond a zebra finch? I have a female but she is little nervous when I was around there. She can eat on my hand, but while she eating I need to pretend I am a stone lol. I have it 4 months now. :)
The fact that your finch is already eating out of your hand indicates that she is already getting comfortable with you in just 4 months! In my case, the reason that Pepe is not the least bit afraid of me is because I have been his caretaker for 12 years now. Since I do spend lots of time in his room practicing my guitar or working on my computer, he will on his own accord come and bond with me when he feels like it. For example, he will come on me and preen or take a nap, and when he is in his territorial mood he will peck me if I touch his stuff which is pretty much every thing in his room, including my stuff - Lol. In general, birds have unique personalities, and so the amount of time it takes for them to not be fearful or nervous of you varies, but eventually the more time you spend with them, the more comfortable they will be around you. Wishing you all the best on your finch bonding with you over time! Thanks for watching Pepe’s video! :)

Cute little guy. Would be nice if he had a girlfriend to share his beautiful life
I’ve had Pepe for 12 years, which is way up there in age for a zebra finch! Since he has had his room all to himself for such a long time, he is set in his ways and extremely territorial as depicted in his videos, which is why I have concerns with him getting in territorial disputes if I were to introduce another finch, especially at this late stage in his life. Being a social bird, Pepe adopted me as his surrogate bird friend because I do spend lots of time in his room since my main computer is in there, and I also do my guitar practice in there. He interacts with me and often preens or take naps on me, but when he is in his territorial mood he will not hesitate to peck me if I touch any of his stuff which is pretty much every thing in his room, including my stuff - Lol. Thanks for watching and showing concern for Pepe’s well-being! :)
How is Pepe??
He is fine, fast asleep for the night! Thanks for watching! :)
Why don't you get him a buddy? Maybe you mentioned it in a previous video but then I missed it : )
Sorry for the late reply! Occasionally, I don’t get notified when new comments are posted. I have mentioned to other commenters inquiring as to why I don’t get Pepe a buddy. It’s just that Pepe has grown accustomed to having his room all to himself for 12 years! As documented in his videos, he is extremely territorial and set in his ways, which is why I have no plans to introduce another finch and disrupt his very happy and stress free life, especially at this very late stage in his life. Thanks for watching and looking out for Pepe’s well-being!
@@fradsou I understand that. Know that I am not judging you, I used to judge people in the past but I have learned that everyone has their reasons for doing what they do and it's always good to look at things from several different angles.
He does seem very happy and satisfied. I'm sure you're giving him everything he needs!
@@anitaangyal4644 You figured correctly that I supply Pepe with pretty much everything he needs, but there are times when I do slip up, and in those cases Pepe lets me know in no uncertain terms that I need to attend to his needs. Here are a few examples: One time I forgot to put his bird seed and water containers back in his cage after I had taken them out to another room to clean them under a water faucet. What happened was that I got distracted with a phone call and returned to his room without his food and water containers. So Pepe then flew back and forth right in front of my face until I realized that I did not return his containers back to his room. Another time, when I was working late at night, Pepe decided on that particular night to sleep in a nest right next to my keyboard. And then when I was speed typing a long report, he did not like the keyboard sounds I was making, and so he came over the keyboard and pecked my fingers really hard to let me know to keep the noise level down and not to type so fast. Another time I was yawning a little too loudly during the daytime, and so little Pepe flew right on my eyeglass frame and pecked my right eyebrow to let me know that he did not appreciate me yawning so loudly. Another time his cage door hinges got loose and shut close so that he couldn’t get in it. He then got my attention by continuously hovering around my face until I figured out that his cage door was shut down. After that, I fixed the cage door so that it wouldn’t accidentally close shut again. Thought you might be interested in these little tidbits! :))
