You may have been successful, but you made many mistakes. That's why it took way too long. That's why your bird was so scared. I'll show you a better way. Never start taming in the cage! This is way too stressful for your little friend. Remove his food from the cage and starve him for an hour or two. Then you offer food outside of the cage. You only hold out the food in your hand for 10 seconds. In this short time, your bird can see the food, but it won't get on your hand just yet. After the 10 seconds, close your hand again and wait a while. Then offer the food again for 10 seconds. Your bird is not stupid! He learns very quickly that he only has 10 seconds to make a decision. If you keep offering the food constantly, your bird will play its own game. He will keep you waiting and this can take hours. If you only offer the food for 10 seconds at a time, then the bird has to make a choice. He'll get onto your hand a lot quicker because he knows you're about to close your hand again. So you're not playing his game, you're playing your own game. In no time your bird will be on your hand. Check out how I do it with my wild birds. I do it al little different as I discribed it here. Sorry if I'm blowing anyone's bubble, but this is not a very good way to train a finch. Maybe that works long term with a parrot, although I doubt it. A bird's cage is his/her safe place, and if you put your hand in there for any other reason than to change their water and feed them, they'll feel unsafe, and they'll end up developing behavioural problems, plus they'll try to escape it on any occasion, and once they're out, they won't want to come back. finch forum sorry, man. But from this video, it just seemed like the bird was getting very stressed out, when you kept moving your hand at him. Unfortunetly, most your viewers will only watch this video and then do that with their bird, who doesn't have an aviary to live in, and will feel unsafe in their own home. Some things to change in this video, 1. Dont smoke around your bird, it can literally kill them 2. Dont move your hard a lot, it will frighten the bird 3. Dont take away their food pallete, they will starve.
I have Zebra finch too female she becomes friend with me because I feed her and clean the cage , the girl start to follow me and I could feed her on my hand but after I bough a male he teaches her not to come close to me XD
It's not starving for long time. Remove feeder from the cage at night. And start training from morning itself. 2-3 hours is enough.. Train one bird first. After taming add another Bird to the cage and start feeding on hand. This time the second bird will come very quickly on ur hand.

Remove the feeder for sometime and always try to feed from hand . They will come for sure
@@finchforum6466 actually they are not in cage XD
But awesome video!! I'm start starving my finches and do everything you did..hope it works!! Can't wait!!!! ❤🐦
It's not starving for long time.
Remove feeder from the cage at night.
And start training from morning itself.
2-3 hours is enough..
Train one bird first. After taming add another Bird to the cage and start feeding on hand. This time the second bird will come very quickly on ur hand.
I can't tell if your being serious or not..
@@finchforum6466 thank you! I haven't had a chance to do it yet but now that you gave more details I think I will start tonight! I'll post my results... 🌼❤✅
@@bloomstar1676 very serious...one thing though...i feel as if you have a lot to forgive...i hope you are not bothered by my intention to help..i just felt a strong need to tell you...
Are u being serious or sarcastic.. I can't tell
It looks so easy in a video, I got two zebra finches and it's impossible it takes a lot of time, if I do that they will probably crap on my hand cause finches crap a lot 🤣😂🤣.
i wouldn't recommend moving ur hands a lot the first time since birds are scared of movement but okay
That poor bird would have been terrified
Maybe give a tip? Will he be completely tame after this what should I do after. I have a finch and want to tame
I tried this method but except I didnt move my hand, Ive been doing it for months but it hasnt worked with my black cheek zebra finch. Any suggestions or tips?
Did he have food before you tried
They need to be hungry so they will eat it
beautiful
Don't move your hand as much and use spray millet.
Pls do watch my other videos too
I got 2 today!
So, have you successfully tamed them? It's really hard
@@GamesLover-sj2rs no I havent, they are so skittish, I need to work on it, they are comfortable coming around my hand, (I don't move my hand, I just keep it in one place) but not really jumping into it..
@@user-jo7bc4kv8g Wow, how long did it took your finches to come around your hand? For me, they're really scared. Once I placed my hand, they quickly flew away to avoid my hand :(
@@GamesLover-sj2rs well, once they want food from their bowls, (I put my hand infront of the bowls) they cautiously came around my hand and then pecked it for a second, then went into it and are their food, but once they were done, they quickly flew off and away..
THANK Y O U
I have had many of these birds and I never managed to train them T.T they were always very scared
does that only work with young finches?
Work with all birds.
Try
Sometimes if budgie's wings are clipped they are easier to tame-dothey ever tip wings of a finch?
I would just be happy to get my finches to eat cucumbers i hold through cage .
My finch died😢and he was a zebra finch and I named him zebra😢
Finches should be kept in colony
Yes brother.. watch this ua-cam.com/video/diGu8N35HPc/v-deo.html
Why were you moving your hand? The finch probably thought you were trying to kill it...
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to stick your hand inside of a bird's cage, as it can seriously scare them and you'll lose their trust.
It's just for one day I'm keeping them in cages. For training purposes.
Check my other videos too then you will understand
I just took in 5 finches all with scaly face mites. Any tips? I’m doing lemongrass baths and focusing on foods with vitamin A. Anything else?
Two have white crust on their beaks causing damage. I want to help them as best I can.
Try using half water half vineger it works and its not harmful for finches bring any cloth spray some on the cloth then rub it on the finches (try not scaring them)
I have 2 zebra finch they are so scared of me. What type of Finch is this one
