The other two are his younger brother's robin ( no beard)& Maurice (with a beard), whom are fraternal twins ,and theyhad a younger brother named andy gibb ( famous in his own right) .he looked like barry except younger and without the beard. BGs or BeeGees stands for Brothers Gibb, as all 3 are brothers: Barry (lead, oldest), Robin (long blonde) and twin of Maurice (in black}. Barry still living. Robin & Maurice have passed. Rest in peace. Andy is also another brother, in the mold of Barry, that passed some time ago.

The Bee Gee's are one of the most commercially successful groups of all time. They are also prolific song writers. They wrote for themselves as well as many other artists of the day. They are a group of brothers with perfect harmony. Too Much Heaven came out in 1978. It was posted to UA-cam in 2017.

No don't call them by that... they are classic and deserve respect. They had 6 songs in the top 10 at one time!! They've written over 200 classic songs... not just for themselves but a lot of different people. They are the best group ever!!! They can all sing very good. Each have their own gifts and sing lead on different songs. The 2 twins on the ends have passed away... they also have a younger brother "Andy Gibb" who was a sole artist ...who has also passed away. The 1 in the middle is Barry and is the only 1 still living. He does have a sister, but she never got into the music industry. The Bee Gee's are and always will be the best group ever!! I grew up listening to them and their brother, Andy. The best times ever!! And no computer crap to help them either!! It's pure talent!

No, Barry could not have done this by himself. The main driving part of The Bee Gees is the harmonies. The chorus would not work without Robin and Maurice.
The group did not have a main singer but when it came to the falsetto songs Barry was the main man.

@@fredklimenko3311 I do not agree. Barry had so much control on the falsetto voice whereas both Robin and Maurice had troubles when it came to holding the tones.
But I think you are correct, Maurice had a good voice, the way that he was the link between Robin and Barry's voices just shows that.
Without him the harmonies would not be the same.

This is an older song. Every penny made from this song went to UNICEF the first band to ever give all of the proceeds from music to charity. The guy in the black died in 2003 his name is Maurice pronounced Morris. The one in the middle is Barry and he is famous for his falsetto. He is the only brother alive and he I believe is 77. The guy on the left his name is Robin who happens to be fraternal twin with Maurice, died in 2012.
They had a younger Brother named Andy who also was a singer who died in 1988. I am 59 and I was raised on the Bee Gees I was blessed enough to see them perform in 1978. I have seen this video and heard this song 1000 times and every time I hear it I still get goosebumps even in the middle of the summer. There is no other group like the Bee Gees and there never will be.

He is now 75 years old and is working to preserve the Bee Gees catalog of music. A phenomenal group for five decades!!!

The Bee Gees were a music group formed in 1958. Their lineup consisted of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers of the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s.

The way you're liking this now, is the way we liked it in the 70s. These guys are all brothers and Barry Gibb, the one in the middle, is the only one still living. I can tell you exactly why you're liking this. The harmony is fantastic, you can understand all of the words, and it's one of those tunes that you'll be singing all day long. These are all what we were feeling when we first heard them so many years ago. A good song will always be a good song. I happy you're finding these older tunes for you to love and to pass them down to younger generations.
By doing that, younger performers to come will be inspired to write songs like this and restart the style that made the Bee Gee's so popular and well loved. There are so many songs left by these guys that you haven't heard yet, you both are in for treat. Enjoy....

It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad!

This performance was in the recording studio in 1978-79. They recorded the song for a children's charity. Plus, the song came out a little after the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack which was done in 77-78. Barry,Maurice, and Robin Gibb (Maurice was on the right and Robin was on the left. They were twins). Barry was in the middle.
Unfortunately Robin Gibb passed away from a stroke and Maurice passed from lung cancer. They had another brother named Andy. Barry wrote a few songs for him like "I just want to be your everything", "shadow dancing", (our love) Don't Throw it All Away", and "Love is thicker than water". But, when was just 30, he passed away from a drug overdose.
Please pick out some of those songs and they'll be good for you.

Musicians. They also have the 2nd highest selling Single Album in History - 63 MILLION. In their career together, (60's - 90's) they sold over 220 MILLION albums, so what they did seemed to work :-)

They were incredibly successful, particularly in the late 70s but they didn't sell that many albums. By any official and accredited sales charts, they don't make the top 10 of groups. I've checked it out several times before. The Beatles are at number 1. Abba are at number 10. In between it's all classic rock band, such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Queen etc.

@@fredklimenko3311 - I've checked this many times over. It's you that needs to check again. The Bee Gees don't make the top10. Also, I'm presuming the album you're referring to is Saturday Night Fever? It's the 7th biggest selling album of all-time, with 40 million sales. More importantly it's not a Bee Gees album. It's a film soundtrack album featuring several different artists. Even more importantly, none of their other albums trouble the top 200. In contrast, a band like Zeppelin had every album, except their debut, go to number 1 in both the UK and the US, as well as numerous other countries. Even their debut was top 10. This includes several of the biggest selling albums of all-time. Including Led Zeppelin IV, which is only a couple of million behind Saturday Night Fever. It's a similar story with Pink Floyd, whose Dark Side of the Moon is the 3rd biggest selling album of all-time and which holds the record for most weeks on the Billboard album chart, by a mile! Having spent close to 1000 weeks on the chart. That's almost 20 years! They also have several other albums in the top 100 biggest sellers. I know this because I've checked and double-checked, when discussing the topic with diehard fans, of various bands, who've made similar exaggerated claims for their favourite act. My favourite was an Abba fan that was claiming more than 2 billion record sales for Abba. That would have meant Abba selling more than The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd combined!

    • @Codex7777
      @Codex7777 4 роки тому

Zeppelin and Floyd are also in the top 3, when it comes to best selling back catalogues. Even today their albums outsell most contemporary artists. It's a similar story, to a slightly lesser degree, for acts like Queen and The Rolling Stones. In contrast, the Bee Gees back catalogue doesn't trouble any contemporary charts.

The only surviving member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb, says he sometimes "hears and sees" his late brothers. Robin died in 2012 aged 62, nine years after his twin Maurice. The youngest Gibb brother - Andy - died of a heart attack aged 30 in 1988.

This song came out in 1977.. Barry Gibb, the one in the middle, is the oldest and Maurice and Robin Gibb are on the right and left. Maurice and Robin are twins and they have both died. Barry is still performing. They started in 1958 at the ages of 12 and nine and went through the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and more. They wrote for others also.

5 decades. 3 brothers - Robin (whose falsetto is allegedly higher than Barry’s) and Maurice. Barry usually has his guitar. Maurice (the “little one,” as you put it) usually has a bass or keyboard. There’s a considerably younger brother, Andy, who died tragically just as he was supposed to join the group. He had his own solo career. Barry and Robin usually split who sings lead, but most Barry. Maurice passed. Next and the. Robin. Barry is the oldest and the only one left. And yes, Barry still performs with two of his sons. Always loved Barry’s hair! They just kept changing with the times. My fave group of all time. There’s a documentary on HBO(?) about them on now. I also love You Win Again and Fallen Angel (Caroline). Barry didn’t always use the falsetto because he didn’t know he could! Watch the doc!

The group is three brothers. Been singing together for 50 years up until early 200 when the two on the outside died suddenly(cancer and a botched heart surgery respectively). Barry in the middle still sings with a band but has stated he still misses his brothers terribly. They had three big runs from the late 50s, then 70s when the high pitch harmonies started and late 80s which is when this came out I think. Large catalog of hits they sang and where they just wrote for others starting in the 80s and 90s. Deep dive these guys. You'll love it all. Great to see younger folks getting into this old school stuff again.

    Why The Bee Gees ?
    Mother’s name, Barbara Gibb (BG)
    Lead singer, Barry Gibb (BG)
    Twin brothers, Brothers Gibb (BG)
    First sponsor/DJ, Bill Gates (BG)
Hope that helps one to remember the pronunciation of their group.
It was a symphony playing & they did not routinely accompany The Bee Gees, however the Bee Gees did have 3 instrumental players since early in their career.
Both twins are long gone now & Barry, the eldest, has suffered with severe chronic pain for decades, which one would never know watching them in concert.
