  • *Parts list below* In this video, I modify my overland Jeep to be able to supply running water and compressed air while out on the trail. Overlanding is a sport that combines off-roading with camping for the ultimate in outdoor adventure. This adventure could not be nearly as comfortable without running water to do dishes or take a shower. I'll take you on a step by step install of an ARB dual compressor, AEV rear bumper, and custom mounting plate.
    *Here are the key parts*
    Quick Coupler - amzn.to/2XhDFAe
    Sillcock (hose bibb) - amzn.to/2IBmt4C
    amzn.to/2Imi99W
    Water Pump - amzn.to/2IxZndp

    That’s a good mod. Just a note, any time you rivet sheet metal alway install each rivet wet with epoxy. Then wipe off excess on outside. It keeps the panel waterproof and the rivets from working loose.

    Your one of a few people that actually epoxy over holes you drill in to the body and silicone the cover. And i like how you put heat tape on your water lines👍👍 great job! You night want to keep an eye on your plastic tee's though. Mine lasted about 8 months but i live in Texas. I replaced the plastic tee's with copper ones and brazed on sone barb fittings.

    Put some of that blue tape on the bottom of your jigsaw, prevents scratches. Great job btw.

    @Josh's Garage - Josh, this is one of the coolest mods I've seen! You've got my sub. Also, I really like your wheels, what is the make/model?

    I really do like this. That said, I do have a few questions. 1) Is the water potable? 2) Can it be made potable somehow? 3) How do you plan to clean the bumper inside to remove algae and mildew?

    • @joshsgarage1545
      @joshsgarage1545  4 роки тому

      I'm not an expert on potable water, so I'd rather not say. And I empty the tank after each trip and live in a very dry climate.

    that's a really awesome setup but is there a way to mount it inside the truck? I know I would rip that right off in the trails

    • @mcgawbill
      @mcgawbill 6 років тому

      I've seen write-ups where they mount it inside the rear cargo area. Just keep in mind wherever you put the hose bib and air connection they are going to be in the way. I think a small bolt up box behind the roll-bar would be a great option personally.

    Did you have to vent the tank?

    • @joshsgarage1545

      Yeah, the AEV bumpers have a vent molded into them on the top which is run up into the fender well

    Nice modification to your Jeep Josh. I like it.
    How do you pressurize the water?
    I would personally go for the same color on the plate as the Jeep itself but it is just my personal opinion.
    I just subscribed to your channel.
    Cheers from Sweden

    • @mcgawbill

      he used a differential pressure pump (RV stores sell them). It will come on when it senses a difference in pressure...when the spigot opens, it should kick on automatically.

  • @djisar

    Can you air up all tires without worrying about the compressor overheating, or how does that work?

    • @joshsgarage1545
      @joshsgarage1545  6 років тому

      The compressor will take the heat, but I've melted a couple hoses around the fittings trying to air up all 4 without a break

    • @carolinabeacher1558
      @carolinabeacher1558 8 років тому

      oem for certain years, you will need to plug up a couple drain holes on the bottom of the bumper and make a fill hole and a feed hole.

    How do you get on board water?

    • @mcgawbill
      @mcgawbill 6 років тому +1

      he has the AEV bumper with tank. FYI, the stock bumper will hold 6-7 gallons of water if you close up the drain holes (4). several write ups to do that on youtube

  • @alabastardmasterson
    @alabastardmasterson 6 років тому +1

    Why not just use the compressor to pressurize the water tank

    • @mcgawbill
      @mcgawbill 6 років тому

      then the tank has to be pressure rated. the differential pump will just pressurize the output side on demand.

    That stuff will get knocked off the first time on the trail. Get a door and have those items inside the well. At least you have room for this to be inside, just fix before you hang it on something and bend the panel.
