Have you tried this installed to an Al-one restyle? OR-209i ?
Can you use this system without a memory card? So instead of recording, have it more like streaming?
It can be viewed live when connected to a radio or monitor in addition to recording the video, but there is no way to stream it. The connection would need to be an RCA-type input to your radio or monitor.

Can this system be used with a different monitor? I don't want it to link to my headunit if that makes sense.
Yes, this can be used with any monitor that has a standard CVBS/RCA type input.
Will this work with the factory 8.4 in the JL?
Unfortunately, this will not work with the factory radio/display in the JL or Gladiator. You would need an external aftermarket dispaly that has a standard RCA type connection on it, or a radio replacement like the RB10JW18B HEIGH10 kit.
Is the head unit waterproof? I drive my Jeep with the top off during summer so there is the unfortunate rain shower I get caught in.
$500?! That's a lot of $ to have remote control switching
The view can be changed with the supplied remote control, or with a 12v + trigger input to the DVR, so the triggering is automatic depending on what the trigger is tied to. Each camera input has it's own trigger wire that can be tied to a variety of different things, like reverse lights, turn signals, and more.
