Folks, a challenge for you before you watch the video! If you just had these 5 ingredients (ham, cheese, dijon mustard, eggs and croissants), what would YOU make? If you liked this and want to see more make it even more of a challenge, here's me doing 3 ingredient recipes: ua-cam.com/play/PLfItiEY3o1mvBZFJOaU79HvGLK69xpY_s.html
Give the ham a little sear for flavor. Keep the croissant whole and give it a little heat in the oven to rejuvenate it a bit. Soft scramble the eggs similar to how Ramsay does it but instead use that Dijon mustard. At the end kill the heat and mix in the cheese. Take the barely toasted croissant and cut it in half like bread, layer on the ham and eggs on each side for two open faced sandwiches.
For the last one. I would not use the mustard, since I don’t like that 😅 I would fry the egg in a pan. I would then cut open the crossant, half way, stuff it with ham, cheese and the fried egg. Pop it in the air-fryer (or oven) for a bit, and take it out, cheese melted, and just 👌🏻
Great idea for a playlist! 5 is a good number and opens up lots more possibilities than the 4321. It all looks amazing and so simple! I would slice open the croissant and put the ham & cheese inside then dunk it in the egg like French toast.
I love the idea in this video, I think the extra two ingredients and being lenient with things like the oil and salt and pepper, you can get so much out of this, even with different variations on the same ingredients! Nice one Barry 😀!
I love this video style Barry. It captures your personality so well in ways I cant explain. I hope you work something out for your back in the long run but for now love what your doing!!!!!!!
I would make a ham and cheese sandwich with the crossaint like you did, but id make multiple and then soak them in the egg and bake, like a bread and butter pudding ☺️
Love this new playlist!! Amazing ideas! For the egg and croissant, it looks delicious what you did. But when you first introduced the ingredients and asked what we would do, I thought I would make a mustard based hollandaise and griddled the bread with the ham and cheese inside and then poured the sauce over
Massive fan Barry! As I’ve got your oven baking mats! Looking forward to watching this one! Must say, I prefer your older style of videography that you’ve recently been uploading! ☺️
Definitely want to try that 1st fruit one! I wish Canada smelled like maple syrup. Where I live seems to have missed that notice 😂 Also, for the videos do what you want to do good sir! Change is hard for people at 1st, but it's good to change things up sometimes. Especially if it brings a new happiness or enjoyment for you while you make them.
Been waiting for this video as the cameo was for me from my partner, it was brilliant and made me smile throughout thank you very much from me Danielle and the wolf Luna (who is actually a black springador lol) oh and was extra special as I have the same daddy pig shirt gifted to me coincidentally and you was wearing it haha
Literally just landed at Gatwick after a cruise- I’m so tired but you’re keeping me awake on the train. Wish I could reach into the screen and eat the food!
If you use a bigger pan for the Cromlette and more egg, so it's easier to cover the whole thing. Also maybe use just one croissant instead of two, to lower the height a bit, makes it easier to turn. Maybe cut the croissant in half and stuff it? But great ideas, gonna have to try some of them.
Barry you always do some excellent recipes! The fruit one I've done something similar for a party but with alcohol in the sauce no iving etc like poached fruitbor rum baba, great for parties and bbqs
I’d do a croque monseur! Which it looks like you sort of did but I’d have used the eggs to make French toast out of the croissants and then make a croque monsuer!
slack allowed! We should all have oil on hand in the kitchen of some kind. I feel like pepper, salt, oil, and water can be considered as non-ingredients
With the croissant, I would have made a savory bread pudding. Either with the chives or mustard (chives would be my preference) as one likes. That would have been easy and tasty. Also - you should absolutely have some "free" ingredients. Everyone has oil, water, salt, and pepper in their cupboards. At least those should not count towards the ingredient quantity.
Twice baked savoury croissants: cut the croissant in half, spread mustard on both sides, fill it with ham and cheese and bake for a minute. Meanwhile, cook a sunny side up egg and make sure it’s perfectly timed with the croissant. The sandwich comes out of the oven, egg on top, runny yolk of course. And then cut it in half 🤤🤤
Loved the video... i would have french toasted the crossiant and then layered the ham & cheese and broiled it to melt the cheese and then brushed the mustard on it ~ :)
I scramble my eggs. Put ‘em in the pan. Then I let them cook about 30 seconds before I cut my croissant in half. And then I place them cut side down on top of the eggs. Cook them another 30 seconds. Or until they are flipable. If so flip them and butter each side. I then add a meat if I want, and cheese. Brown each side of my now-sandwich. Brown to your desired brownness. Lol. And done. It is so delicious!
I think in a "traditional" tart tatin the fruits would be placed round side down in the pan so that when you flip it over you get the rounded side up Also I would never be brave enough to put 2 so totally different items in the oven together for fear of the "essence" and the smells intermingling and ruining the dish xD
I would have heated the croissant up then sliced it in half to be used like a bread roll. When I was in Germany, loads of places would have ham and cheese, or sausage filled croissants
I seem to remember one of those cooking shows (I think Masterchef) once saying that five flavours is the max that you should have in a dish for the optimal tasting experience. So five ingredients seems nominal if you ask me. :)
*For the Starter* What I'd do is nix the ham, bring in some double cream, mix 1 tablespoon of the cream in per 1 egg, use the electric whisk to beat some air into it, fold in some Parmesan, bake it in a well-greased sheet pan, slice the croissants, butter-toast the cut side on a griddle, a light spread of mustard, a slice of your egg (which should have puffed up slightly), more grated Parmesan(if you wanted to you could even bake small stacks of grated Parm on parchment to make Parmesan crisps), and cut the sandwiches into halves.
Barry, I saw a video recently that showed an egg being dropped into hot rapeseed oil, cooked just enough so the white is slightly crunchy and the yolk is still runny then sourdough was dipped in. Wanna give that a go if you can find it?😏
I don't like mustard much so maybe I wouldn't use that, but I'd put cheese and ham inside the croissant, and then dip it in beaten egg so it'd be like croque monsieur :D
All looks good but sadly the ingredients are out of my budget. Most of my recipe "creations" are based on necessity and experimentation. Fridge and pantry near empty kind of thing. For instance, last night I found I had a couple packets of taco seasoning, so I cooked some rice with one, then fried up some ground turkey (the last lb we had left) with the other. Cooked up the last of the frozen bell pepper mix, and then combined them in the wok to make "Taco Fried Rice." Topped it with the last of the sour cream and salsa from last week's tacos and it was good! Still had enough leftover to bring to work today. Was better than the "hot dog chili" I made a few months ago (though that wasn't too bad to be honest).
Challenge: I'd cut the croissant, spread a little mustard, and layer in the ham then cheese. Dip in the beaten eggs ( maybe beat the chives in) and gently fry off ...
I totally think salt, pepper and water shouldn't be counted. It's silly. You could grab packets of salt and pepper almost anywhere for free and water.... Put a pan out when it rains. Free water lol
I’m going to sound like a dumb American, but what’s a starter? That looks like a breakfast dish. Delicious, for 2 or 3. I think if you needed a great egg casserole. Egg, cut them in half, soak the bottom of your croissants while you layer, ham, cheese, plop the top on give that a wiggle, or a smash, depending how much egg you want soaked up. Toss it in the oven at 350°f or 175°c (I think that’s the difference) serve with coffee or tea.
Instead of flattening it, I would of cut it down the middle so your putting it inside it. Then loaded it with ham, cheese and a fried egg then put it in the oven for a few minuits.
For the last one : I would take the croissant , cut it in half , whisk the egg together and put it in a pan , put the croissant on top of the egg in the pan , turn it around so that the egg is now on top of the croissant sides , put ham , cheese and chives on top and put the croissant together so that the filling is in the middle!
I would cut the croissant in half and soak in the egg mix. I would not use mustard. I am also not a fan of ham. I would switch the cheese to mozzarella and tomato thick sliced and use the pesto in there and cook the croissant in a pan ist to cook egg through then spread a little pesto then cheese and tomato. Then drizzle a bit of the oil from the pesto jar over the top.
Others have already posted the initial obvious "fried egg in a ham and cheese croissant" pocket thing, so how about an idea that seems a bit more like what you were going for with the egg-encrusted croissant... thing: slicing the croissant in half like a bun, soaking both halves in the egg, making a ham and cheese sandwich (with dijon, maybe adding some pickles if you aren't sticking to the 5-ingredient limit), and then frying the whole thing up like a Monte Cristo.
5 ingredients is definitely not too many ingredients. Also, 5ive, Nsync mentioned within the first minute, boybands ftw 😂 A great tip for maple syrup- B&Ms store near me stocks genuine canadian maple syrup, and it's cheaper than the maple-flavoured knockoffs in big supermarkets. Definitely worth checking near you if you love maple. That chicken looked super delicious
LOVE these 5 ingredients mate! Always recreate them with the fam and they love them man 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Although your old style of cynematography was awesome the new one is not too bad!

I would probably try to make something close to a Monte Cristo sandwich... that has turkey and ham on it, but that can be left off.
Breakfast pinwheels! Scramble the eggs, add the rest to the croissant dough and roll it up to little bite size snacks.
Maybe you can make a croque madam but with croissants instead of baguettes? 😅
Croque monsieur using croissants is a thing of beauty!!
My thoughts went croque madame, but yeah.
For the last one. I would not use the mustard, since I don’t like that 😅 I would fry the egg in a pan. I would then cut open the crossant, half way, stuff it with ham, cheese and the fried egg. Pop it in the air-fryer (or oven) for a bit, and take it out, cheese melted, and just 👌🏻
lovely stuff!

I had the exact same thought!
I love these videos! You give us some great ideas for meals!!! TY!
Absolutely loved this video Barry so many ideas definitely going to try that chicken
All looks delicious & thanks Barry 😋👍
Thanks a bunch, might make it a playlist potentially, opens up way more ingredients
5 is my lucky number so I agree! Maybe a soup bowl would be good for something like this?
Love a soup bowl!
Croissant French toast (soak in egg) ham cheese mustard sandwich powdered sugar similar to Monte Cristo
Massive fan Barry! As I’ve got your oven baking mats! Looking forward to watching this one!
Must say, I prefer your older style of videography that you’ve recently been uploading! ☺️
Thanks, i'm just treading water at the moment, not sure entirely where things will go, but still making videos / enjoying it whatever happens!
@@mrbarrylewishey Barry, what's going on with the pizza place? Heard about it a while ago, then disappeared 😔
Love the content!
Baked Savoury French Toast is the way to go, I make it with my students regularly. Always goes down well.
I would make a savoury croissant ham and cheese bread and butter pudding with a Dijon mustard custard and serve it with a homemade tomato salsa.
Very creative!
i was pondering something with pepper sauce lol
Definitely want to try that 1st fruit one! I wish Canada smelled like maple syrup. Where I live seems to have missed that notice 😂
Also, for the videos do what you want to do good sir! Change is hard for people at 1st, but it's good to change things up sometimes. Especially if it brings a new happiness or enjoyment for you while you make them.
The only time I made a Tarte Tatin, I made it with caramelised sweet onions. It was simply delicious.
Barry your videos are amazing!!! Love your homestyle way and your sense of humor 😂
Hi Barry could call this series, 5 ingredients for three meals to eat in one sitting 👍
Ooohhh I like that!
Cheese ham croissant omelette is next level Barry!
Croissants make anything taste amazing, love them- who needs the other four ingredients!
local bakery in grocery store makes fresh Glazed Croissants (AMAZING - better than glazed doughnuts)
That t-shirt is stonking barry! You got style mate!
That feel when you're making food with ham and you're wearing Peppa Pig's dad t-shirt.
So fun! Always love your videos ❤ Many blessings ❤️
Barry! It all looks stonking! You're the best mate!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I would fill croissant with ham , cheese and mustard. Then dunk in beaten egg and fry. 😊
Literally just landed at Gatwick after a cruise- I’m so tired but you’re keeping me awake on the train. Wish I could reach into the screen and eat the food!

Bake the chopped croissant, chopped ham, and grated cheese with a milk/egg mixture poured over - like a savoury bread and butter pudding.
With the croissant, I would have made a savory bread pudding. Either with the chives or mustard (chives would be my preference) as one likes. That would have been easy and tasty.

Your such a good cook Barry
I usually scramble the egg, grate cheese and put then inside the croissant and heat/warm in the oven.
Spraying the pan isn't cheating Barry, because the oil is more of a tool than an ingredient :)
I do a pesto chicken -- put the pesto under the skin and some butter on the outside. Some garlic goes well, too. Delicious & succulent.
The omelet wrapped croissant sandwich is straight out of my dreams.
Loved the video... i would have french toasted the crossiant and then layered the ham & cheese and broiled it to melt the cheese and then brushed the mustard on it ~ :)

You should try an apple crisp but use seeded, pealed oversized zucchini instead. None in my house could tell it wasn't apple!
Could you chop up the croissant in large cube and then mix in dish/ramekin wtih the other ingredients? Like an eggy bake?
I think in a "traditional" tart tatin the fruits would be placed round side down in the pan so that when you flip it over you get the rounded side up
Also I would never be brave enough to put 2 so totally different items in the oven together for fear of the "essence" and the smells intermingling and ruining the dish xD

I would do ham, and cheese, then the egg with a runny yolk. (inside the croissant) YUM!
Have you made strata? I'd never heard of it until some American friends introduced me to it.. like a savoury bread pudding, yum!
*For the Starter*

Can you try and do a 5 ingredient three course meal where 2 ingrediants carry over to all three recipes?
I am allergic to pine nuts and can't have traditional pesto, can you come up with some pesto recipes that don't have the nuts? Just wondering, thanks.
Barry, I saw a video recently that showed an egg being dropped into hot rapeseed oil, cooked just enough so the white is slightly crunchy and the yolk is still runny then sourdough was dipped in. Wanna give that a go if you can find it?😏
Hi Barry how long did you cook the tart for, looks delicious
around 15mins or so, best to go buy the package instructions, or until golden brown on top :) Was super good!
Just a simple ham and cheese mustard croissant toasted in panini press or in pan like a grilles cheese serve with the fried egg on top
hey, i recently found a recipie for no churn icecream, its 14oz of sweetened condensed milk, 12oz of whipcream and thats its other than flavorings
Crikey i'm half drooling half reading that but also half mulling over going for a big old run too beforehand lol
I would do like a quiche with the croisants as the crust and bake the eggs ham and cheese in that
Don't do mustard. Make it like French toast, then when cooked. Place ham, cheese between two slices of croissants and a banana on the side.
A UK market without golden syrup!?!? How is that possible?😮
I don't like mustard much so maybe I wouldn't use that, but I'd put cheese and ham inside the croissant, and then dip it in beaten egg so it'd be like croque monsieur :D

Barry try the 5 Ingredient Receipes in an Air Fryer. Also I like the Bread Baking Video. D-Across the Pond in US.
1:10 If Uncle Roger was cooking the chicken he would just cover it in MSG 🤣🤣
HAIYAA!!

I didn't moan. But loving having the normal Barry back. ❤ hope it's not taking to much time away from the fam.
I took ONE thing away from this video.... live streams coming soon!!!! Wooooo!!!!! 🥳

Our croissants are sweet so I would've ate that separately and fry eggs on ham with cheese 😆
Pour the mustard out to the sink preferably
I think I’ve read that the oil spray you use is bad for the coating on those pans and airfryers.
"Oh my gosh, you smell like Canada", what a random thing to say 😂
Hi Barry!!!
Howdy!
Smells like Canada. That made me giggle.
i think by the looks id do the same thimg but soke it in the eggs first and for sure leave out the nasty mustard
Have you ever done red wine pears? Long cooking time but hot damn...
Croque monsieur or croque madame for the starter.
Instead of flattening it, I would of cut it down the middle so your putting it inside it. Then loaded it with ham, cheese and a fried egg then put it in the oven for a few minuits.
