      @Super Mario You can tell when it's auto generated because the subtitle language will be Language (auto-generated). Manually created subtitles (like those in this video) will just have whatever language it's in. Auto-generated subs tend to be complete garbage and as someone who is hard of hearing in only my left ear they actually cause more confusion than just trying to figure out what's being said myself, so someone going through the trouble of subtitling an hour-long video is extremely helpful and appreciated.

      The problem is a lot of viewers have low standards. If you can get away with minimum effort, why put more effort in it? Low effort content get tons of views and likes, so there's really no incentive for people to create high quality content. Imagine spending 3 weeks to produce a high quality video, and then you see a "I Prank My Girlfriend" video get 50 times more views than you.

    The radiation doesn't protect him, if the institute knows where he is. If they don't know already, then the radiation makes it less likely for him to be found by anyone at random. If he hid in an area people might come across, he'd have to kill random innocents or risk being found by the institute. Moreover, the glowing sea is inhospitable for other reasons as well, so any synth that finds him is likely to be alone and maybe even damaged, so he can take them out before they report back.
    It's definitely not a perfect solution, but it's mildly better than hiding in a cave that isn't surrounded by radiation and irradiated monstrosities. Since he isn't affected by the radiation...Why not hide there?

    I mean if the Institute really doesn’t know where Virgil is, then by hiding in an area with very little humans, the chance of integrated synth spies finding him or even hearing about him is very small, so this isolated cave in the glowing sea is a very good hiding space. The only way they’d be able to find him is through a random gen 2 synth search party happening upon his cave.

    • @descendintostanarchy

      This was my thought. I don’t think Virgil is hiding in the radiation. I think he’s hiding way the fuck out in the glowing sea for isolation. The nearest humans are the Children Of Atom and they’re kooky so he doesn’t have to interact with them. If anyone comes within spitting distance of him he’s gonna know (although there is something to be said that MC can just like….walk into his cave)

    Regarding your point about Virgil not being protected by radiation, it is also quite dumb of him to turn himself back into a regular human with the serum while in his cave in the Glowing Sea. With regards to the radiation thing, I always thought that Virgil's hiding in the Glowing Sea was less about the fact that there's a crapload of radiation and more about the fact that there are a lot of really nasty things LIVING in the radiation. You know, deathclaws, radscorpions, crazy Capital Wasteland cultists with Nuka Grenades, etc. Sure the institute could send a bunch of Gen 1 and 2s into the Glowing Sea but it would probably be really expensive and difficult. Virgil, being a former Institute member, is probably well familiar with its stinginess and is banking on it.

    @john39er Рік тому +1

    I'm basically new to "new" speed running. Haven't seen one in years. I really appreciated your intro and how it explained things. But I guess I'm "oldschool", speed run back in the day was grueling boss fights, perfectly timed attacks on both enemies and terrain, and just a knowledge of the map. The new age stuff makes my head spin. Reload a certain pistol, bring up map, quick load, place mine, save, load, shoot a rock just right for particles, switch to a knife, stab the floor, save, load, pull out a bazooka, save, load, pull out pistol again, and if done *just right*, the game engine gets confused into thinking you have a rocket engine up your arse or for whatever reason, the reload animation makes you jet off. Oh, and in this case.. Puts you where you want it to in the process via cells. While I AM impressed that the community figured it out, just why is this speed running? This is a BethSoft title. Full of bugs, and at the intro you stated they were patched out. Yes, technically, this is completing the game as fast as possible. But. BUT. You skipped 99% of everything. Maybe I'm too opinionated. But in my opinion, this is not a speed run, but a glitch finish. On an unfinished product, which is technically every game at launch nowadays. Again, I'm impressed at the (wo)man-hours that was put into figuring this out. But is this really part of the game? Or is it breaking it? Playing it how it wasn't meant to be played by the dev's..

    usually I am not that interested in speedruns, and clicking on this video was an internal debate with myself, however, this video is absolutely superb in every way possible and kept me interested throughout its entirety.
    Starting from the way you explain all of the necessary information at the start and provide alternative speedrun video choices for people who might be interested in them, shows that you really care about the viewer's experience. The fact that you added simple visual diagrams to support your explanations and to help the audience understand all your actions even if they look confusing and abstract at times, yet once more shows that you care about the experience of the audience. Your tongue-in-cheek humour, where you don't make a pause or laugh or put '(haha funny)' on the screen to indicate that it was a joke, makes it so it is up for the audience to interpret your humour and makes it sound very natural and especially rewarding when I, as the viewer, decipher the intended joke. And lastly but most importantly, I have to mention your speedrun precision, I cannot imagine the level of determination, dedication, memory, game knowledge and skills it would take to achieve such a task.
    Bravo maestro, I bestow upon you the highest honour I can, I am saving this video to my favourites playlist.
