This was just absolutely great to watch! I’ve always liked seeing speedruns but never understood the mechanics and you have clarified loads. Thanks a bunch. Also, you did the whole thing without mentioning a faction of the game not even once, not even their name showing how insignificant they are to the game… so epic haha, cuz I was never a fan of that faction lol
Regarding your point about Virgil not being protected by radiation, it is also quite dumb of him to turn himself back into a regular human with the serum while in his cave in the Glowing Sea. Once he reverts back to a regular human, his immunity from radiation is gone, so now he is stranded in the Glowing Sea. I sure hope he has plenty of Rad-X and Rad-Away stocked up.
With regards to the radiation thing, I always thought that Virgil's hiding in the Glowing Sea was less about the fact that there's a crapload of radiation and more about the fact that there are a lot of really nasty things LIVING in the radiation. You know, deathclaws, radscorpions, crazy Capital Wasteland cultists with Nuka Grenades, etc. Sure the institute could send a bunch of Gen 1 and 2s into the Glowing Sea but it would probably be really expensive and difficult. Virgil, being a former Institute member, is probably well familiar with its stinginess and is banking on it.
Yeah. Also radiation doesn’t mess with the synths themselves, but it could and would mess with any sort of tracker put in vigil. Also #2, he’s a super mutant, not like he can go anywhere else
personally I thought it had to do with Virgil thinking the Institute would never assume he'd be there, since there is a ton of radiation and they never go outside.
God bless Bethesda for recognizing how important it is for us players to be able to quicksave, kill , then quickload in an efficient manner. That might be Intentional. There's a wall on the right side of the door, so you won't stand there when opening door. The door opens inwards to the right, so you really won't be standing there. The lock and door handle is on the left, so you WOULD stand there. It makes some sense placing the window further to the left. Placing it center wouldn't NOT make sense, but you would have a blind zone on the outside left if the window was placed further right. Fin.

@@LonelySpaceDetective Yeah I mean my first playthrough of fo4 was mostly bug free besides textures and pathing, buuuuut once you start pushing the game it just kinda cracks open and that's when quests break and you wind up teleporting across the map because you hit a couple inputs no one could have tested for unless it was literally by accident. I don't understand how the glitches work even with the in-depth explainations, but I still enjoy listening to the buttery smooth voice and pretty colours on screen
I'm basically new to "new" speed running. Haven't seen one in years. I really appreciated your intro and how it explained things. But I guess I'm "oldschool", speed run back in the day was grueling boss fights, perfectly timed attacks on both enemies and terrain, and just a knowledge of the map. The new age stuff makes my head spin. Reload a certain pistol, bring up map, quick load, place mine, save, load, shoot a rock just right for particles, switch to a knife, stab the floor, save, load, pull out a bazooka, save, load, pull out pistol again, and if done *just right*, the game engine gets confused into thinking you have a rocket engine up your arse or for whatever reason, the reload animation makes you jet off. Oh, and in this case.. Puts you where you want it to in the process via cells. While I AM impressed that the community figured it out, just why is this speed running? This is a BethSoft title. Full of bugs, and at the intro you stated they were patched out. Yes, technically, this is completing the game as fast as possible. But. BUT. You skipped 99% of everything. Maybe I'm too opinionated. But in my opinion, this is not a speed run, but a glitch finish. On an unfinished product, which is technically every game at launch nowadays. Again, I'm impressed at the (wo)man-hours that was put into figuring this out. But is this really part of the game? Or is it breaking it? Playing it how it wasn't meant to be played by the dev's..
59 minutes of explanation during this 35 minute speedrun...with all the rules, important story parts glitches and everything...that's another speedrun record by itself!
There are no rules in the rulebook that says that a vegetable with an asshole can't speedrun Fallout. Edit: I forgot a tomato is a fruit, in that case you might want to double check the rulebook to make sure this run is still legal.
Don't worry, vegetable is only a culinary term. While a tomato is definitely a fruit biologically, its use 8n the kitchen is that of a vegetable for the most part
@@wea69420 Exactly. It's like they say, you'd never put a tomato in a fruit salad. But that's why this confusion is important to clear up, since it's unknown whether the Fallout Universal Constraints Committee (FUCC for short) would allow a speedrun performed by a fruit, and whether they define a tomato by it's biology or it's culinary use.
@@abonynge Cucumber's a fruit too? Man biology is weird. You are right that that sounds pretty yummy. Add a little balsamic vinegar or Italian dressing, maybe some pepper and/or some other seasoning, and I'd eat the shit out of that.
46:30 I posit that the radiation jams the signal enough so that the Institute can't (immediately) teleport in his cave, black bag him, and teleport out, giving him time to fight back he otherwise wouldn't have
usually I am not that interested in speedruns, and clicking on this video was an internal debate with myself, however, this video is absolutely superb in every way possible and kept me interested throughout its entirety. Starting from the way you explain all of the necessary information at the start and provide alternative speedrun video choices for people who might be interested in them, shows that you really care about the viewer's experience. The fact that you added simple visual diagrams to support your explanations and to help the audience understand all your actions even if they look confusing and abstract at times, yet once more shows that you care about the experience of the audience. Your tongue-in-cheek humour, where you don't make a pause or laugh or put '(haha funny)' on the screen to indicate that it was a joke, makes it so it is up for the audience to interpret your humour and makes it sound very natural and especially rewarding when I, as the viewer, decipher the intended joke. And lastly but most importantly, I have to mention your speedrun precision, I cannot imagine the level of determination, dedication, memory, game knowledge and skills it would take to achieve such a task. Bravo maestro, I bestow upon you the highest honour I can, I am saving this video to my favourites playlist.

I’ve always loved the considerations the Fallout community make for those who don’t have the most expensive PC setups
Considering how poorly all bethesda games run even on high-end computers, it's pretty much a must.
@@AKKK1182 huh i would think most high-end computer can run all/Most Bethesda games pretty good I say that because my xbox one S can run Bethesda games really well games like fo4 never crash for me they only ever crash when I have a ton of mods and skyrim never crashes even tho i play it on xbox 360 and fo3 doesn't crash either
The games started anti-capitalist, and whether Bethesda keeps that tradition or not, we will.
Fallout speedrunning: hey, this game should be capped on frames so that it can be accessible by everyone!
Gta speedrunning: Ha! You want us to cap at 90? TOO SLOW! Get a better PC or don’t try!
@@toe_sucker_4165 Fallout anticapitalist lol. A game made to win money sure is anticapitalist
I can't imagine not wanting to hear your voice but props to you for providing it.
Also, I will never forget "Oh there was Radaway right here" best moment in speedrunning right there.

“Avoiding having to use a rope swing and pull a Leslie Burke” wth, I wasn’t ready for that.
What does it mean
Beltion Bambie watch bridge to terabithia
Its too fucking soon
I thought the off-center window was on purpose since it's skewed toward the doorknob, which you'd reach/lean toward when preparing to open it
Not gonna lie, when you picked up the fatman, I was rooting super hard for you to have found out a way to make the removed head work.
only in my dreams
Not even going to lie, I am 100% lost on how all the glitches interconnect, however I really enjoyed the video! Nice work to all the people who discovered all this wow! And good job on pulling it all off so flawlessly.
Or its a fancy suicide.
@dlee7466he's already in the glowing sea, that's the issue
So...Tomatoanus is actually doing him a favor by lying to him instead of helping him. Nice.
If you're reading this... if you ever hit rock bottom, I hope there is a COC plane to bring you back up.
This is beautiful. Thank you.
This is so uncanny and how your speed runners are so thorough. I can really appreciate your accuracy and memory for these runs! Great work!

Thank you for returning to us in the midst of these trying times, Mr Anus.
I *could not* watch speed runs without a commentary, and your commentaries are some of the best
One of the amazing parts of this speed run is that he never crashes.
Me watching a group of supers die to radscorpions: Ok
8:36 that was such an out of pocket swing at Leslie, that I hate, and love you for. Nice vid bro 💔
God bless Bethesda for recognizing how important it is for us players to be able to quicksave, kill , then quickload in an efficient manner.
Thanks to this save/load functionality optimization, it is now exploitable to unbelievable depths of complexity and allows Tomatobutth0le to bring us entertainment with layers upon layers of speedrunning artistry.

I haven't even watched the video yet but you mentioned that there are few links available for other versions people may prefer, a time code and other considerate things are just making me feel it's gonna be a great one. Props to you bud, already awesome!
8:30 "We then run across a log to cross a creek, avoiding having to use a rope swing and pull a Leslie Burke." That Bridge to Terabithia reference, oof 😭😭😭
6:46 thanks man I didn't need to see that
sorry
@@tomatoanus sorry doesn't cut it cause I've seen that door thousands of time I'll never look at it the same
thats it, game's ruined, literally unplayable
That might be Intentional. There's a wall on the right side of the door, so you won't stand there when opening door. The door opens inwards to the right, so you really won't be standing there. The lock and door handle is on the left, so you WOULD stand there. It makes some sense placing the window further to the left.
Placing it center wouldn't NOT make sense, but you would have a blind zone on the outside left if the window was placed further right.
Fin.

Me: has the game crash instantly after nearing downtown Boston
Mine has a 50/50 chance to crash when I talk to Proctor Teagan for some fucking reason, but yeah, had to download the Cheat Terminal mod to allow me to teleport around downtown Boston on Survival difficulty
Virgil isn't hiding from institute synths, since he probably has ways of dealing with them; he is actually hiding from Kellogg
It took me nine minutes and 18 seconds to realize that the title said “beat fallout 4 in 35 minutes” and not “beat fallout in 4:35 minutes”
Shit you crack me up 😂
nice to have you back anus, i was wondering when you’d make another vid
Through out the run his heartrate is around 80 or so, near the end, 140+.

"It just works."
Reminder that this is what Todd 'Most Powerful Being in the Universe' Howard considers 'working'. Christ, the beta versions of F4 must have been summoning daemons out of the screen or something.
Well, flying creature from F76 have some code from Skyrim dragons soooo who knows, maybe they are some daedra leftovers in F4.
You know, people don't really seem to read much into that "people on the internet say our games are buggy, i read it on the internet so i know it's true" joke he once made, but it really gives me the impression that he feels that Bethesda's games (from a bug/glitch perspective) are just fine and that people are just exaggerating or even outright lying when they talk about bugs in Bethesda games.
Bethesda games are only a buggy mess when you don't play in the 100% approved Todd Howards "It just works" method

Thank you TA. You have the best speedrun commentaries in the business. I appreciate all of the free entertainment, and the good will towards your fellow men. :3
This is one of my favorite speedruns as i was utterly not expecting interdimensional time travel and black holes and temporal phasing
"If you hate my voice" Boi your voice and the dead pan comedy is why I watch and rewatch your videos NeedlePeen.
Love that there's a commentary dude who gives the option of just seeing the footage without the commentary. Wish everyone does what you've done here.

59 minutes of explanation during this 35 minute speedrun...with all the rules, important story parts glitches and everything...that's another speedrun record by itself!
Of all the speedrun breakdowns I've ever seen, this has got to be the most complex. Pure rocket science.
16:00 "...just casually lifting myself with a bucket."

@@SchadeTree I like Kiwi
@@SchadeTree You underestimate my fruit salads. Tomato, cucumber, sweet peppers, and olive, make a great fruit salad.

I posit that the radiation jams the signal enough so that the Institute can't (immediately) teleport in his cave, black bag him, and teleport out, giving him time to fight back he otherwise wouldn't have
usually I am not that interested in speedruns, and clicking on this video was an internal debate with myself, however, this video is absolutely superb in every way possible and kept me interested throughout its entirety.

@@AidenRKrone Leslie is a character from a movie called "A Bridge To Terabithia". She died from swinging the rope into Terabithia and drowing in the water stream she fell in
Blake Stone It’s a joke about an old book called Bridge to Terabithia, where these two kids frequently cross a river using a rope swing and play around in the forest.
I won’t spoil the ending because the book is really good, but the joke in the video is about the ending to the book.
