This was awesome to get to be a part of and I love how it turned out! tomato was great to work with and I feel really did this run justice for his style of video. I hope you all enjoy! Also, for anyone that might find this run interesting enough to look into more I highly recommend it as I believe it to be easy to get into and potentially fun for all skill levels. The speedrun page for Cuphead has lots of great resources like a trainer/debug mod and a beginner and up to date advanced tutorial for this category. The category has been very active, with everyone in the top 7 having gotten a PB within the past year and many still actively grinding and participating in various community events, so it's a great time to get in on the game and give it a go with plenty of people around to help anyone as well.

I wondered if star skip can be more consistent. I figured it out myself when I played the first time and I think timing the skip instead of button mashing might be more consistent. I remember I had around 50% chance of getting by timing it with no real super practice on it, but I was doing it on keyboard. To me there's a set time since the last thing appears on screen before the start and until the stars pop. Frame perfect stuff if always finnicky, but to me this seems at least worth a try instead of just button mashing.

Depends on the person, and why they're playing. For example, if they particularly enjoy puzzles and their chat continually spoils the answer when they see the streamer frustrated that they can't figure it out, it might be unwanted help and the streamer is completely okay with being frustrated for a bit, and will *ask* if they want help. Having a blanket ban on suggestions or 'don't miss X' type comments can be good for having the chat be more focused on other aspects, like just having a conversation or something. I'm not a streamer, nor do I watch them very often, and this is also just my opinion. But my main idea is that 'this could be useful sometimes to some people' is not a direct refutation of the way some people want to conduct their streams.

To get the Star Skip Explanation Skip the viewer needs to hit the skip ahead button on computer or double tap their screen when they hear the A sound in “After”. Good runners can reliably predict this and skip ahead a frame or two early which is referred to as Early Star Skip Explanation skip. Elite runners can trim a total of 3 minutes from the run with this technique alone.😊

"lobber trap" reminds me of a video i saw once, i forget the exact name, it was called "i broke (character name)" or "players exist to break the game". that character had two abilities: 1: throw an energy ball that slowly damages any enemy it gets close to. 2: throw an energy ball that slowly heals any teammate it gets close to. BOTH would bounce off walls in a realistic fashion. (they were not affected by gravity) new here's the kicker: those balls would fade away after passing a certain distance FROM THEIR STARTING POINT. NOT total distance traveled, distance FROM where the character was standing when she first threw them! so, by throwing a bunch of them at JUST the right angle, perpendicular to the walls, the player was able to stack up a BUNCH of BOTH types inside a room that the other team needed to capture!

i mean this run is pretty good but i just wish there was a frame perfect trick that saves 0.96 seconds that you can do after every boss

Tomato, for years I have suffered from insomnia and no matter what I do I can’t fall asleep peacefully and then one day your videos got recommended to me and let me tell you- there’s is just something so peaceful and soothing about your voice and the way you speak something in my brain finds its so comforting that the only way I can sleep now is with your videos on loop. It’s so relaxing and I love them so much that it just puts my entire body and spirit at ease and allows me to actually unwind. Please never stop.

Every time the scoreboard comes up after a boss, the runner will attempt Star Skip, which is when you press A on the exact frame the stars start being counted, this will skip the slow animation saving roughly 0.9 seconds. Most runners get star skip about 1/3rd of the time, with a full run usually having about 6-7 successful star skips.
Im going to do a silly little challenge where everytime tomatoanus says my favourite word koofeed ill drink one shot. Shouldnt be terrible since its just about a cuphead video.

And that, right there, is a pretty big reason why I find it some mix of bemusing and amusing when streamers complain about "backseat gaming".
Depends on the person, and why they're playing. For example, if they particularly enjoy puzzles and their chat continually spoils the answer when they see the streamer frustrated that they can't figure it out, it might be unwanted help and the streamer is completely okay with being frustrated for a bit, and will *ask* if they want help. Having a blanket ban on suggestions or 'don't miss X' type comments can be good for having the chat be more focused on other aspects, like just having a conversation or something.
I'm not a streamer, nor do I watch them very often, and this is also just my opinion. But my main idea is that 'this could be useful sometimes to some people' is not a direct refutation of the way some people want to conduct their streams.

To get the Star Skip Explanation Skip the viewer needs to hit the skip ahead button on computer or double tap their screen when they hear the A sound in “After”. Good runners can reliably predict this and skip ahead a frame or two early which is referred to as Early Star Skip Explanation skip. Elite runners can trim a total of 3 minutes from the run with this technique alone.😊

The slowed down sections really hammer home just how amazing this game's animation is. Like, the followthrough of motion on Beppi's feral, unhinged jaw when he scoots his dumb little cart toward the camera?? Insane
"lobber trap" reminds me of a video i saw once, i forget the exact name, it was called "i broke (character name)" or "players exist to break the game".
that character had two abilities:
1: throw an energy ball that slowly damages any enemy it gets close to.
2: throw an energy ball that slowly heals any teammate it gets close to.
BOTH would bounce off walls in a realistic fashion. (they were not affected by gravity)
new here's the kicker: those balls would fade away after passing a certain distance FROM THEIR STARTING POINT.
NOT total distance traveled, distance FROM where the character was standing when she first threw them!
so, by throwing a bunch of them at JUST the right angle, perpendicular to the walls, the player was able to stack up a BUNCH of BOTH types inside a room that the other team needed to capture!
