Actually they didn’t adjust right away. If you have an ear for music you can hear how slightly disjointed they all sounded when it happened. And it’s actually not that hard because they are listening to the piano for all their cues and rhythm. So if the piano changes, their sound will naturally change too. He is only going to the minor key so it’s not a gigantic leap in pitch change and because it’s such a small downward change, you really only have one pitch to change to that will match the new key. If you don’t match the minor key right away, you’ll most likely get it on the 2nd or 3rd attempt.
When u learn piano u learn the scales so u know how to connect keys and once u learn that u just play freestyle, basically Tanaka became listless and wasn't able to keep the positive mood of the song so he naturally and probably unconsciously changed the key to how he was feeling at the time. But this also means Tanaka is quite talented coz he has a strong sense of musicality 🤔 meaning no matter how hard we try we will never be better than Tanaka, because Tanaka is not even trying
I mean, for piano beginners and amateurs its a talent. For experienced piano players(not keyboard players, they are too strict), its actually pretty much nit and crafty knowledge to be able to change notes on a whim without ruining the song's melody.
