Thank you for shooting more than 3 shots! I’ve recently watched a string of backfire and ultimate reloader videos and get extremely frustrated when they shoot only 3 shots and call it a group.
With the 130g Berger VLD Hunting, 38g of varget .015-..020 shoots a bug hole group in my rifle, great on deer and hogs. For shorter-range shooting, the 129g Hornady Sp with the same load acts like a 125g Nosler partition in my rifle. The 129g Hornady Sp is a sleeping giant of a bullet for deer, and hogs, with great expansion and penetration always. Primer choice with Varget and the 4530s is of major importance when you want 1/4-3/8" groups, you will have to try and see.
Excellent groups. I was not aware of this chambering at all. But your build and videos have drawn my attention to it. Looks very promising. This seems like a very effective whitetail option for those of us who hunt and enjoy experimenting with different loads. Thank you.
La puuuuuu aaaa lapua 38 grains varget there is a 1 grain node there 15 tho off the lands 130 hybrid Shot 17 k rounds out of one over 3 years great round.
Now that you have a few different loads developed and some experience with the 6.5 Lapua. How does it compare to the 6mm GT ie recoil, load development, accuracy for effort put in? Barrel life should be fairly comparable. I’m in love with that 6.5 Lapua now watching the different loads that just shoot bug holes. I’m so paranoid of having a picky cartridge that only likes one or maybe two powders. Last question how is it feeding from magazines? Thx
If you start at .003” off of jam and work back you can probably shrink those groups by half with a little testing. I know a lot of loaders worry about this seating depth sticking a bullet in PRS but .003” off jam ejects just fine. If it’s sticking then it’s probably not .003” off of jam and more like .003” past jam. Just depends on how accurate you measure it.
Those are very expensive bullets, but when compared to the price of loaded ammo these days, the price doesn't seem so bad! It's crazy how they come packaged and how they want you to polish them in that bag!
I've seen some guys purposefully dial off the point of aim just a little so they can maintain something to aim at thru the whole string. Your rifle tears out the bull too well!

Yeah the packaging in my opinion is a bit annoying. They are a bit pricey but seems to shoot.
I Jam that bullet .003 into the lands with this bullet, and try altering powder charge .3g
