      I'm glad this helped. There are some other things that you can do to improve your current lawn if you do not want to do a full renovation like this video shows. Right now in spring, is not the best time to do a full renovation for cool season lawns. End of summer going into the fall would be the best time to tackle a project like this.

    Loving the content. I’ve got TTTF in Nashville TN and last year I was brand new to the game and bought a Lowe’s brand fescue blend and to be honest it did great all the way up until the middle of June then stress came on and it went from looking really good to really bad in just a few weeks. I believe I didn’t help out the situation because I rarely ever sharpen my mower blades, and I believe I pushed it too hard with fert in March, April, and May. This fall did GCI TTTF, gonna do about 1.25-1.5lbs of N in the spring and try Hydretain this June as well. I am going to pay attention to sharpening my blade as well👍🏻

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  3 роки тому +2

      I really appreciate you watching and happy to see that you are enjoying the content. More on the way especially as the lawn season gets started. Pushing growth in early spring with some good fert is not a bad thing but you really want to start throttling back as the temps get up there especially if you do not have irrigation. Make sure you have cultural practices in line...cutting height, cutting regularly, sharp blades, 1" of water per week if possible, and bag clippings if you see disease. Also, make sure that you get your preventive fungicides together if needed.

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  3 роки тому +1

      I will come back and drag the rake across the area to slightly work the seed into the ground. I am not really a fan of the peat moss because its not easy to apply evenly without some equipment and its additional cost. But I do believe that it can be helpful especially if you are not able to keep the seed watered properly during the germination period. I have had really good results without it so its not necessary for me.

    Great Vid!! Question- My neighbors have zoysia grass, which has taken over the part of my lawn next to theirs. I've heard the only thing you can do is to dig it all up due to the roots. Will this get rid of it and is there a way to keep it out?

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  Рік тому

      Good question, I have never had to deal with removing Zoysia. Being that Zoysia is a spreading grass type it is going to be difficult to keep it out because that is the nature of that grass. Killing that area with multiple applications of non-selective herbicide and cutting it out is about the best way I have heard of for removing the existing Zoysia. You could try a product like Turflon Ester to control it and maybe knock back the existing Zoysia but it probably will not eliminate it. Hope this helps and gives you something look into.

    Couldn't you scalp the lawn first and then apply the glysophate so that way you don't have to apply twice since there is going to be green surviving the first round due to taller grass? Also, after that last scalp/application, how long do you wait to aerate and overseed?

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  3 роки тому +3

      Glysophate works by being absorbed through the leaf blades and then into the the plant. So you want to have the most amount of leaf blade exposed to allow more of the Glysophate to be absorbed into the plant. I have found that right after cutting at the highest setting possible the plant seems to be more exposed and has a more effective kill off. Everything will not die with only one application you need multiple apps over a period of time. I recommend waiting 7 days to aerate and overseed some people have waited less time with sucess.

  • @garrywashington6495

    How long do you wait after applying the 3rd application, before you aerate??

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  2 роки тому

      Same time as the between the other applications. I wait 2-3 weeks between each application. You could wait shorter if everything is completely dead.

  • @Shizuyumi

    Is the key to make sure you generously overseed all spots and then keep the seeds constantly wet?
    Also, what is the easiest way to deal with weeds? Just pull them out with a weeder, add some soil, and reseed it?

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the general idea to get seed to grow is breaking up the ground, seed, starter fertilizer, good seed to soil contact and consist water. This was a full renovation starting from scratch not just an overseeding.
      It is going to depend on what size area you are working with and how bad the weeds are to determine your process with weeds. If you have a small area you can pull them out if you choose to. If you have a larger area it will be more efficient to apply a herbicide to kill the weeds. There is no need to add soil unless you have a leveling issue you want to fix.

    • @Shizuyumi
      @Shizuyumi 3 роки тому

      @@ElevatedLawnscapes Okay, so get rid of weeds, break up the soil for bad patches, apply seed as well as fertilizer, and then keep it all wet. Got it, thanks so much!

    • @ElevatedLawnscapes
      @ElevatedLawnscapes  3 роки тому +1

      I would say moist more so than wet because too much water is not good for seed germination either.
      I am not sure where you are located but if you are using a cool season grass type (Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass, Ryegrass) the best time to do this is in the fall. We are getting ready to go into summer temperatures and young seedlings do not survive summer heat very often.

      Yeah thats a lot of work. I will need to get paid for that and they are not that concerned with their lawn. I just use a pre-emergent which worked well this year and stay up on my herbicide applications when needed.
