I came for the landscaping; left with a lesson in geometry. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful....geometry was actually one of my favorite subjects. I received one of my highest overall final grades in that class with like a 97 or 98 😂. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
Welp
I didn’t have any more lawn projects.....until I watched this
This looks great!
😂😂😂 this should be a quick and easy project for you. Thanks for watching.
😂😂😂😂 right . I dont call it yard work . I enjoy yard work sooo much .. i started calling it yard therapy.
Nice to finally see someone knows how to mulch a tree and not cover the root flare. My neighbor is a landscaper and runs mulch 2 feet up the trunk burying the root flare. I call them mulch volcanos. This guy nailed it perfectly. Not only does this method keep the mulch Out of the lawn but keeps the grass From growing into the mulch area. Well done!
also keeps mowers from getting too close to the tree.
I'm with you about the volcano. I do not like the mound around the base of the tree and its not healthy for the tree.
Agree with the over mulching. As a MasterGardener, I went to the home of a woman whose foundation plants were failing. They were so over mulched. She said her lawn guy did it. I recommended she pull the mulch away from her trunks and get a different lawn guy.
Too many of these bad volcano making landscapers in business. Did they teach each other bad techniques? Too many trees and landscapes are suffering premature deaths.
I guess this proves how much wrong information keeps getting passed on. Even the village public works department in town have been over mulching trees way up the trunk. All these trees were replacing trees killed by the Emerald Ash Borer. I hear over 100k in town have been replaced, and since, many of them have been replaced because they ended up dying. One would think one person in the Public works dept would have the education on how to mulch trees. Yet they keep doing this and not only killing young trees but waste so much mulch. My landscaper neighbor killed his. Buying a lawn mower doesn’t make me a landscaper anymore then buying a hammer makes me a carpenter.
I knew about the trunk tree string method. But sadly never thought about going higher on the trunk to get a more accurate smoother edge 😂😂😂😂. This video is one of those . Why didnt i think of that . Its clearly Obvious only untill you see it. Hahahah thankyou. So very much. I hit that like and fallow button
It's all good, we all learn a thing or two from each other. Thanks for watching!
I wish I had neighbors that cared this much about landscape appearance. Excellent clean look minimal spend.
Minimal spend was apart of the goal for this project. .
I have neighbors who take care of their yards, but they are sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. Those immediately left and right have what I call a "different" standard of care...grass reaches 8" tall, scalp to 2.5", no edging, barely blow clippings, big warm welcome to everyone weed known to mankind. 🤣🤣
Have you gone to help your neighbors? Maybe they don't know. Lack of knowledge may be the cause or lack of funds.
I have never seen anything like this. Very sharp!
Thank you! I hope its helpful your next bed.
I appreciate how you showed your process from the beginning. setting up your string, making the line and your cuts. I'll be trying this out in my yard. have about 4 or 5 trees where I need to do something like this. subscribed!
I strive to document the full process in my videos without making the video too long for the community to watch. Thank you for subscribing and for watching 🙏🏾!
I’ve watched a lot of lawn care videos. This was one of the best I’ve seen. Thank you from Stonewall Louisiana.
Thank you for watching and im glad you enjoyed the video
Gorgeous lawn and very well explained....I never thought of measuring higher up on the tree.
Yep that the most important part to get the circle symmetrical
I'll be closing on my brand new FIRST home next month and want to have an elevated landscape for sure!! So happy I found this channel!!
Love it!!! Congrats on your home that is MAJOR!!! Welcome to the Elevated Community.
Congrats!!!🙏🏾💪🏾👍🏾
🤣🤣🤣 I accomplished my goal for this video. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
A for effort. I've done a few of those in my time. First time, pretty close to what he did. Last time I used my gas edger to make the first cut; when you're older you look for ways to save the back. Also, I'd consider putting landscape fabric down to keep the grass/weeds from coming up through the mulch. Helpful hint to do it on the cheap, turn old carpet back-side up and trim to fit, it works like a charm. Lastly, I like to keep the mulch back from the outer edge by a couple inches. That way, when you mow, you can put the inside wheels down into the trench...without throwing out mulch in to the yard. Keep it up...nice yard!
Thanks for the tips 👍🏾!!!
I think this is the most sensual lawn care video I've ever seen. Slo mo + slo beats
😂 I strive to provide a good vibe along with the lawncare so people can sit back, relax, and enjoy
@@ElevatedLawnscapes heck yea! I would hire you for sure! I would be disappointed if you weren't playing some Sade while working on my lawn, but I would still hire you! =)
I think I just seeded my pants.
This looks soo good! I can't wait to try this! I may even get in the yard this weekend and get to it!
Get out there and go for it, you got it! Simple changes like this make a huge difference in the appearance of your home.
Your video is absolutely amazing!! I have a tree in the backyard that I’m going to do the same thing as you did. When I first saw the base of the tree in the beginning I thought you had either some plastic or metal casings around where you cut the lawn but was surprised!
My friend that is beautiful and I hit LIKED & Subscribed!
Thank you SIR !
Thank you for subscribing and I'm glad the video was helpful.
Looks great ! Love the video editing... I just did this, and after watching your video, it confirmed that I did it correctly. The only real difference was I didn't use the paint method. I tied the end of the string to my shovel at the same hight it was tied to the tree and made my border/circle at the same time.
Thanks and im glad you enjoyed the video. The way you did it is another way that I have heard many people use also.
You’ve made this look so simple, and results are amazing.
Thank you! This method has worked for me many times.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes Its 5oo much work for me. Damn i wish i could do it.
I bought my first home a year ago, and never thought in a million years I would be so obsessed with my yard lol the young lady before me wasn't much of an outdoors person; however I am glad I found this video. I have two pine trees in my front yard that have mulch I want to remove and make it look better. I have literally spent more money on tools than shoes lol and I love my shoes and clothes... Thanks for this information
You're welcome. Its ok to love the lawn there is something satisfying about it. The more you take care of it over time the better it will be.
I felt that one deeply…now I am buying garden tools and edging shovels and stuff 😃
@@Ransah79 Enjoy the journey and the fruits of your labor bc it WILL pay off.
I just planted a tree for the first time in my life, and was looking up a how-to for creating a sharp edge around a tree. Thanks for showing this technique !
Glad it was helpful and I hope it works out for you!
Aha!!! Use a string to get your circumference! Who knew? Thanks for this tip alone! No edges to hammer home, no spikes to keep them still. Great results, my good man.
You know my trick/tip. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
Yo, thanks for educating and inspiring me to take even better care of my yard!
No problem! Thats one of the reasons for my channel. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
"Honey, come see this awesome video about edging"! My husband..."oh no". Lol! Excellent work, gonna copy that for sure.
😂😂😂 Tell your husband im sorry for giving im another project on his honey-do list
Lol
Very nicely done. I've always done the first dig on the out side of line but never did it on the angle on the inside that really gets the angle you are looking for. tying off the paint can very good. like another commenter said liked your delivery and teaching ability.
Thanks for watching and your feedback. There are a number of ways that you can do this but this is my method that I have found works best for me. Glad it was helpful for you!
Best edge definition technique I’ve seen. Crisp!!!
I appreciate that, I aim to keep it simple an use things that most people already have around the house.
Brother the music 🎶is smooth, didn't expect that, you're handsome and on point with that landscaping. I needed instruction on the circles around the 🌳. Thank you. Your family must be extraordinarily proud of you. Keep doing what you do..Proud of you
I truly appreciate that Lisa 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾!!! My family really is proud of me my Mama tells me all the time how proud she is of me and that once I put my mind into something I'm not going to stop until I succeed.
This is the video I didn’t know I needed. Excellent work, sir!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
I have twelve mulch circles around trees on my lawn, all of them are 5 feet in diameter. I use eight bags of cocoa bean mulch annually, and some of the circles are planted with annual flowers. Once established, they are easy to maintain using a gas driven power edger. And I will say this as modestly as possible: it's the nicest yard in the neighborhood by far! ☺️
Nice!
Great work to make the perfect circle. Looks great! I never understand what is in the minds of those that give videos like this a thumbs down.
Thank you Ed 🙏🏾! As a creator, I think the same thing about all the thumbs down that I receive on any of my videos. I am learning that I will never be able to please everyone no matter what the topic is. Thanks for watching and I will have more videos coming out during the lawn season.
Just mentioning the "G" word (glyphosate) freaks some folks out.
Looks awesome! I've been doing it backward all these years. Looking forward to edging my beds with this method.
I'm glad I could provide some more insight. Get out there and give it try. Thanks for watching!
I would just like to have a lawn as full and green as yours, which looks amazing
You can have it! You just need to learn what your soil needs, how to care for it, and quality grass seed.
Sanctuary from the lawn whisperer
Your local independent nursery can instruct you on how to do that. Big box stores are staffed with local students but most independent nurseries hire horticulture students and have at least one horticulturalist on staff.
great job. I do the same in my landscape business. Only thing different is that I use a flat shovel since a standard shovel is cupped. And I use the flat shovel to cut under to make the ground nice and flat before adding mulch. Flat hovel with a D handle. When trees don't have irregular flares to them, I just use a long stick with a mark on it, and put the stick against the truck and make painted dots all around then connect the dots witht the shovel.
Your method sounds like a good one also👍🏾! It's definitely more than one way to get the job done. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
Thank you for this video! I feel better about getting my edging project started! Loved the untied shoelaces! I do that all the time when I'm gardening!
I've been wearing my tennis shoes like this for over 20 years....idk if that is good or bad thing 😂
Wow, you really made that look great. I like how you showed us step by step how to achieve that crisp edge. Good job, man.
Thank you 🙏🏾!
Beautiful work, nice music and production. You nailed this one, brother! Sweet vibes throughout........
Thanks John! I really liked this producing the video and I felt really good about. Im glad the viewers are enjoying it also.
Wow!
That is super clean! Love it.
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great idea! This is exactly what I need for my big doug fir in our back yard. Thanks for sharing.
No problem! Glad it was helpful!
We've used string trimmers for years, this method might take longer but man its so nice
I agree, it does take a little longer. I use a string trimmer for maintaining the edge during the season.
The beauty of this is that you should be able to mow right around those edges and cut out the extra trimming required with a border around the circle. So a little extra effort to maintain the shape, but a lot less effort when mowing.
@@MS-ld3ro You are correct! I will come in with a string trimmer once in a while and just sharpen it up but I don't have to do that every mow.
BEAUTIFUL!! CLEAN AND PERFECT!! THANKS!! NOW I KNOW HOW THIS IS DONE!!
Now, you can tackle any of your beds this spring and have them nice and crisp!
Perfectly done mulching. Result was gorgeous. Good job!
Thank you!
I wish I would have seen this last month! Your technique makes so much sense. I’ll definitely use this next year. Thank you!

This is 💫 ,Beautiful way way to enhance the charm of an old tree and maybe by adding a welcoming bench under it's shades people will appreciate your talents for putting the jewels on a ignored old tree .
They often get ignored and attention is to draw the eye away from them instead of pulling you under it's umbrella ❤. It's just BEAUTIFUL .

There's so much Life in those trees . You have made a perfect circle oife 💫.
Thank you for the life lesson in this ❤
Thanks I appreciate that. I strive to take care of everything on my property. It gets challenging but I do my best.
Every time I use that marking paint, I end up with orange shoes! My method is to attache a rope from the tree to a half-moon shovel to make the first cut. It makes a perfect circle every time.
Thats a great method also. I just like to see my outline before I cut so I can make changes if necessary.
Nice work! It was the first time I'd seen that technique used to mark the circle. (What I liked the best, though, was your personality! I felt like you were enjoying what you were doing and sharing it with others.)
Thank you 🙏🏾! I really do enjoy being out in the yard and sharing with people what I do, in hopes that it will help them.
How neat and beautiful!!! You can see all the pride in your work!!! Wow..Great job!!! Thanks so much for sharing! Your lawn is gorgeous too!!!😁🌻

I've always wondered how the lines were made around the trees 4:11 🤩 Thanks for sharing your tips!
Yep its not that difficult. There are many ways to get it done.
Nicely done! That looks fabulous.
Thank you very much!
Great video man! Never would have thought to use the tree as the center pin for your radius. The slow mo mulch is awesome too lol
Thanks man! I was pretty excited about that shot when I reviewed it. It it came out great on camera.
I started doing a live edge last year and it makes all the difference. I love how clean that looks! And I like your method for determining the size and dimension. Great Job!
Thanks man I appreciate it 🙏🏾! Its something about that live edge that can't be met with hard edging.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes 100% Agree!
You just made my day so much easier! Blessings to you and your business! Thank you.
Glad I could help and thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
He has the calluses to back up the beard. A rare man. Good job my friend.
Thank you sir🙏🏾. You are definitely right about the calluses. Im trying to wear gloves more often but I just can't feel what I'm doing.
There should be a video about how you keep the grass so green under that big shade tree.
I have taken a note of that. To be honest even with those big trees my back lawn gets probably 4-5 hrs of full sun in the morning. Then shade for most of the day after that.
The key... seed type tolerance. I have big Oak trees in my yard and started overseeding with Perennial Ryegrass and Fescue... maybe 3 to 4 hours of sun, and it's full green and thick! ... Location: MA... my seed type isn't ideal for southern lawns...
Beautiful bed edge and great looking turf! Thanks for sharing your technique.
Preciate that bro and thanks for watching!
Damn bro. Simple but probably one of the best videos I’ve seen. The editing. Not some crazy loud or cheesy music. Also descriptive and yet to the point. 🔥💪🏽
Thank you and I really appreciate your feedback 🙏🏾!!! Exactly what you said is the goal and what I strive to achieve in all of my videos. It takes more time to do but its worth it when the viewers get to enjoy it.
Awesome job brother
Thanks 🙏🏾
I am going to pull up my edging , then do that. It really looks good
Thanks! Give it a go!
This is EXCELLENT content! Please make more and get posting! My children and I will be using this in several weeks. Thank you!

That was wonderful! That's some of the best advice I've ever heard. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏🏾!
Why would anyone give this a thumbs down? Awesome video. Wish I knew this years ago!
Thank you 🙏🏾! I have learned one thing with UA-cam, I will never make everyone happy.
Beautiful natural edge. Well done. I ran with this style edge for two years. Natural edge is considered the best by most good pro landscapers. Best quality edges do require strong maintenance practices. I pulled the mulch back from the grass about eight to ten inches. The soil will naturally compact itself and make trimming easier with power equipment. The shovel will show it’s self about twice a year in Florida.
This year I added metal edging that reduced the maintenance by 80%. Still has the same good looks. Good luck.
I agree with everything you said and it does require maintenance. I truly prefer the live edge look and im ok with the additional maintenance.
Your video is the best one I’ve watched! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain and demonstrate everything thoroughly. Good bless you!
Thank you Carla 🙏🏾! I appreciate that.
wow! im kind of obsessed with keeping all my edges sharp and clean... you, my new landscape hero😉 are on a whole nother level! I got a little choked up and a bit teary eyed when you just pulled the pieces out in strips🤩 im starting on this tomorrow morning... I have 3 trees and 1 shattered ego to repair now.... thanks for sharing your talent. can't wait to see more of your elevated landscapes.
You can definitely keep those edges sharp clean and I know you do. I appreciate you for watching 🙏🏾!
Your yard looks better in December then mine does in June. . .
I appreciate that! It's the result of good aerating, overseeding with quality seed, and good fall fertilizing. Depending on where you live and the type of grass you have June can be tough on grass. For cool season lawns we prepare 9 months out of the year for the hardest 3 months of the year June, July, and August.
Huh?
The end result is absolutely gorgeous, I don't know how you created that initial circle there's no way I could have done that that way
Give it a try, it not that difficult. Follow the tips shown in the video and make sure to keep the string tight when making the circle and you will be good 👍🏾
Fantastic!! Now that’s exactly how it should look.
I agree 100%!
This looks absolutely amazing!! Great breakdown ‼️

Very helpful, I had the same idea with the string but had my doubts of getting a consistent circle. I didn't know about the V cut with the 2 spades - one of those things that is really obvious after you've seeing someone else do it. Like your work - it will help me with a job I'm doing.
Im glad you found the information useful and thanks for watching 🙏🏾!

Good string use with excellent results. Tree is now better protected from mowing too. Nice job!
Thank you 🙏🏾
I'm crying over here with heavy clay soil and bermuda runners all the way across my beds, lol. Good video.
Clay definitely makes it tougher. Try doing it when the soil has more moisture in the ground like after a rain. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!

Shoooo! Crispy edges! Really good technique to do this, Cam! I often use a pitch fork to pick up my cut edges.
Thats a good idea too. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
I don’t know. You seem more like a boot kind of guy to me! Just found your vids and have enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. Very nice lawn. Good job.
You are right. Normally in the yard and winter I am. Im between pairs of boots right now 😂. Summertime I will do shoes for a quick mow and done.
Circle is on point......I'm jealous...lol
Now you have the knowledge, so you can get yours on point too! 💪🏾
That's definitely will be added on the To Do list. Mosquitos, Weeds, Green Grass, beds and edges. List keeps growing. Salute
The list never ends it just starts over haha
Super satisfying to watch
Glad you enjoyed it!
OMG! I’m so glad we found you! We moved into our almost three years ago and still have no landscaping. So overwhelmed by where to even start.
Just subscribed to your channel. Found you from Lead Farmer. We’d love for you to check us out too!
Thank you for the sub! I have some videos coming up to explain some basics of lawncare that will help yall out. I will definitely be checking your channel out!
Thank you for this amazing instruction! Beautiful yard. What would you recommend for a row of trees (20) that vary in size to make them match? Our HOA doesn’t have the money to hire out so it would be many volunteers at different times. So appreciate any kind of advice you can share.
I would recommend that you pick a circle diameter that you like that will fit your largest tree. This will mean that you will have more actual mulch area round the smaller trees but the circles will all be the same size. If you do not like that look then pick a circle size for the large trees and a circle size for the smaer trees. You will use the same methods as the video. The key is make sure you have the same measurement from the center of the tree to your desired edge. The tree as the anchor will do the rest to make it symmetrical no matter the actual size of the tree. Hope that helps!
@@ElevatedLawnscapes Perfect! Thank you so much!
