I'm glad you mentioned Scotts, I've been a lawn professional for decades and I always suggest Scotts products for DIY homeowners. Scotts makes great products but if you mention it on any lawn forum people are quick to leave negative comments. They seem to be brainwashed by the latest bullshit niche products on social media that are far more expensive with less than adequate results. BTW, I know you posted this video over 2 years ago and not sure what spreader you purchased but a drop spreader would be perfect for your size yard. It's a lot more precise without throwing granules everywhere.

Hi George, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your channel. I've been watching all your old videos and you share some excellent information with your viewers. I wanted to mention to anyone looking to get consistent pressure with a pump-style backpack sprayer buy a CF valve (constant flow valve) for your sprayer. CF valves deliver a consistent flow and automatically close if pressure drops below the preset pressure of that specific CF valve.

Great suggestions, George. Being in FL means no nitrogen products available until the fall, so I use Ironite liquid and the results on my St. Augustine grass works well. Of course, the FL summer heat is brutal, but we also get lots of rain to make sure the applications work into the soil.

Nice video man...keep working on it. On my yard I alternate Milo with Pure Organics every 6 weeks. They are slow-release but my goal is to get a very good soil. I use Moss Out when I use Pure Organics for the iron, so not only it takes care of the moss it would also give the dark-green pop to it. Then apply humic acid every three weeks too...

I'm always leary of so-called quick-fixes when it comes to lawn care, but your 3-day turnaround is nothing short of impressive. Personally, I throw down 160lbs of Milorganite on my approximately 8000 square foot lawn; the new 6-4-0 stuff is also 4% iron (I think). Sometimes I'll throw down a few bags of Ironite to top it off. Keep in mind soil pH levels will affect nutrient uptake rates. If your soil is too acidic or alkaline, it won't matter what you throw down. Keeping soil pH between 6.2 and 7.0 is ideal. Turf around trees (such as the one in your backyard George) also gets robbed of moisture; be not afraid to soak those areas with what may seem like excessive amounts of water.

That’s actually what brought me to make this video.
I wanted ppl to know they can turn around their lawn fast w simple and readily available products.
Sounds like you have a solid plan! Love using milo once them temps get a bit warmer and I just tried ironite recently, I was highly impressed!
      Thanks for sharing!

I use milconite too. What I like about it is, it does not burn, and it helps keep Deer out of yard. I have used that Scots Max Green. It is AMAZING! That would eliminate a step of applying separate nitrogen. My lawn was so green and thick with the Scott's Max . My lawn was an unbelievable green color. The only thing is you will have to keep mowing your lawn, due to the growth. Mowing it is harder too, due to the thickness. But my lawn was amazing. It was like walking on a memory foam mattress

Why wouldn't you use a complete fertilizer , 8-8-8, rather than one higher in ratio with Nitrogen predominate? Adding trace elements to the mix is acceptable if you can identify a deficiency and this Iron spray certainly did a nice job of boosting the green.
I have been a keen gardener for a while and use an organic fert, ( poultry manure plus trace ) once in early Summer ( our rainy season), then bump with a dressing of complete mineral fert in Winter. That seems to do OK.
I did a full forking last year and threw down a sandy top dressing soil to loosen up the clay base. That simple thing has left me with a lawn like a lounge room carpet as the ground seems to spring under the foot.
