Of all the race-washed characters, snow white literally makes the least sense. Her mother said a rhyme to have skin as white as snow and hair as black as coal, lips as red as blood, etc. Skin colour is specifically mentioned in the grimm fairy tale.
I know these are both fictional characters and I pray you won’t hate me for what I’m about to say but I genuinely feel for Snow White and Elena. I feel for Alayna because she’s under used and she should be the one they make a movie about I feel bad for Snow White, because she was the first Disney princess ever and this is highly disrespectful to her as well as her Visionary or visionaries. I should say because she started out as a tale of the brothers Grimm and then Disney got a hold her yes he did a few things to her but it was still more respectful than this nonsense.
Fun fact: In the original Disney Snow White, they had an entire scene where the prince gets kidnapped by the evil queen and the dwarfs have to save him. It was cut out mostly due to the fact that the animators had trouble drawing the prince. But if you were going to make it in live action, that wouldn't be a problem. But are they going to look into the archives and find these deleted scenes? Nah.
Why can’t Disney just make new stories? They are utterly devoid of any creativity and it’s depressing. If they put more energy into coming up with creative ideas rather than chasing after woke points and CCP money, they might actually turn a profit.

That's what I don't like about reboots that try to make villains sympathetic, the fact that they often make villains out of the protagonists and side characters. Why not create a tragic backstory or a redemption arc for a villain *without* vilifying the protagonists?
I would love an extended version of Snow White, animators at the time were just barely able to make realistic humans so a lot planned for the Prince was cut (and repurposed for Phillip later on) and I would love to see Snow White interactions with the Queen and maybe the Huntsman. I always had this theory that the Queen tricked Snow White into becoming a servant by claiming it was for her protection. Huntsman could act as both bodyguard/prison guard and this is why Snow White trusts him.

I always felt that Snow White knew that the Queen hated her, after all she didn't show too much surprise when the huntsman told her what the Queen ordered him to do (she was shocked that the queen would go so far as to kill her, though).
Agree. Also, I felt the Prince and Snow White needed more scenes together, so they have more chemistry (Once Upon a Time did an amazing job with the relationship between Snow White and the Prince). I wish Disney was able to put the deleted scene with the Prince getting captured by the Evil Queen and having to fight his way out to save Snow White because this scene would have made the Prince more of a character and show us that he loves Snow White (I believe the prince kissing Snow White is to say goodbye to her because he's heartbroken that she's gone, not to mention the Prince is overjoyed to see Snow White alive and allows her to say goodbye to the Dwarfs which shows that the Prince is a good loving man). Honestly, I wish Disney would put this deleted scene in the live action movie but I doubt it.

In the 1937 film's beginning, Snow White specifically wishes for ''the one I love'' to find her, and the Prince responds later with ''now that I found you'' and sings that his heart is ''ever entreating, constant and true'' and ''keeps singing...only for you'' and all of that makes better sense if they already knew each other but got separated for a while for whatever reason. Snow's wording is specific---there's already someone she does love, not wanting someone to love. Florian's is a tad more nebulous but his whole song sounds like a reassurance to her that his heart is only ever hers (regardless of anything else, which says there is an else), which tracks if they were separated a while, and also explains her nerves on seeing him again. Besides...if he's out for a fairly casual ride by her castle, his kingdom can't be far from hers at all. No way they'd never met before Snow's maid demotion. Which explains her embarrassment, too, at being seen in such a state, and his trouble with finding her again. It makes perfect sense once you stop assuming they've never met before.
I am latina and let me tell you...since I was a kid, I wanted a Disney princess or heroine, but instead, they just do this...its very disapointing. Oh well, at last we can always count with the best latino prince ever, Kuzco! Also, the actress, sounds like all talk and no action, the way she is in her messages, she sounds like, "Oh, I am the bestest evar" even if she hardly has any movie to stand for...but oh well, I already said I was not going to watch any Disney Live actions, Lion King disapointed me way too much...
Kuzco is a great character because they weren't trying to check a box with his race. They were trying to make a good story, and they succeeded. He just happens to also be Latino, which is how it should be for any character
I'm sick and tired of hearing that prince from Snow White can't kiss her at the end. This is a fairy tale. And what, the ending where she was in the casket and he order his man to carry her, so she spit the apple is more romantic? This would never be as iconic as true love kiss.
That whole "true love's kiss is non-consensual" controversy is so ridiculous, considering this is a fairy-tale. The movie shows the witch consulting her magic book where it explicitly states that the only way the victim could be woken from the sleeping death is by love's first kiss, and it's not like the Prince and Snow White haven't met before. We don't know know for how long they were seeing each other prior to their meet-up at the wishing well or for how long they were dating before Snow White fled to the woods.
Also, in some European tradition, it was common to give kisses to the deceased as a way of saying goodbye. There's a cultural aspect to this too. His kneeling and bowed head immediately after the kiss certainly supports the idea of it being a simple farewell respect. And also, we don't know how common or well-known magic is in Snow-White-land. Maybe he knew there was a possibility. Doubtful but still. This is a fairy tale. Please do not clutter it up with your current cultural sensitivities. No one smart likes it.
4:45 I disagree. The prince knew who Snow White was. He knew her name, he knew she was actually a princess. They sang a song together. Yes, that doesn’t seem like much, but there might have been some of-screen romance going on, we don’t really know. And then, a bunch of stuff happens. The prince hears of the princess in the glass coffin, and seeks her out. He is committed to her, and she is committed to him. They aren’t necessarily a “couple” but at least he came to try to have a relationship with her, I mean she’s a princess, she woke up, time to get out of the woods!
Exactly! It's so baffling how people take the "rushed romance" seriously in a FAIRY TALE movie, that's full of magic and animals doing household chores.
It's ironic that a big criticism of Disney is how the would "sanitize" the original fairytales (Which isn't really in Walt's era) when it's really more the modern works that do this.

And yes the Live Action films have the, ironically childish idea, that they are the mature versions. (Which translate to dull to a child and condensing to an adult fan) Honestly, Luke Evans could pull it off better than he did Gaston, considering it's personification of "Stranger Danger" his charisma would be perfect, but I don't trust them to go into the darker parts of Pinocchio. I also agree with M with adding more Prince and Snow White moments. It was obvious they were meant to be a couple, even before she had to live in exile, but if they wanted to remake Snow White, it would be beneficial, by making the kiss scene look like he was giving her one last kiss goodbye to someone he loved not knowing that would break the spell. Not some ham-handing exposition dumb out of nowhere which would break the moment.
About your last goodbye kiss point, I feel like that's what they already did in the 1937 version, though, where the Prince after kissing Snow White, goes down on one knee, places his arm on top of it, then bows his head, as a way to pay respect to his presumedly dead love. And the humming chorus further accentuates this.

I checked the list of unproduced Disney films, I could've sworn it was on there but nope but Hansel and Gretel was. That could've been right at home in Walt's era films.
I think making new characters in a new franchise that are simply based on the original fairytales would be successful. Like Link from "Legend of Zelda" he's based off Peter Pan, and the franchise has callbacks to Peter Pan, I can image similar characters being done with other fairytales, of course I'm the kind of guy who thinks it's cool going into a character's wiki and read about what these characters are based off.
Even then it wouldn't be enough for them. Take a look at what Amazon is doing with the Wheel of Time, for example. It's a huge world, with tons of diversity built right in, and clearly based on real-world people. The people in the north are based on Asian people and cultures, the ones to the east are Irish in appearance, but they also live in a desert so they're tanned, there's multiple mentions of characters who specifically have dark or black skin. And yet, they take the starting cast, who all come from the same village that's been isolated for hundreds of years, to the extent that people in-world can tell where they're from just by looking at them, and they race-swap half the cast
At this point, Disney just race swapping Snow White instead of making a Latina princess is insulting. They made two Latina princesses before but they are only for Playhouse Disney.
Not looking forward to the movie, but I do hope for the main villain, the creators at least remember she has a friggin' name! When we got Descendants, they got lazy and just called her The Evil Queen. Meanwhile, Sofia the First, which is meant for really little kids, remembered her name's Grimhilde. I also hope they FINALLY give us a solid name for The Prince. There's debate on whether it's Ferdinand or Florian.

Yep, she got her name because of her looks. Her mother, the former Queen, was sickly, and while sewing, she pricked her finger, causing blood to fall on the snow below her. She then said that she would love her child to have skin as white as the snow, hair as black as the balcony rails she rested on, and lips as red as her blood. Then she died after Snow White was born, and the King married another woman who became the Evil Queen.
She IS white. I guarantee that if she took an Ancestry test, she would be at least 70% European. Most AAs are only 70- 80% African & we’re still considered black. So it’s the same for this actress. This ideology that whyte must be pure is racist.

They'll remake it and make The Queen the most sympathetic villain and show how she was only trying to show Snow White how terrible and toxic the world she was raised in was. She was raised to only believe her looks are what make her worthy. And knowing her stepdaughter is now more beautiful than she, then she knows men won't take her seriously until she's nearly died.
They'll make the mirror the villain and/or they'll point out the irony of the Queen making herself ugly to kill Snow White for being prettier. (Because Modern Disney thinks the audience needs everything explained to them.)

Current day Disney is just a bad joke, for the past 5-6 years they have been going downhill (I think around 2016), I have bought a lot of Disney movies DVDs and Blu-rays but nothing they have made in that period had me going "Oh yeah, I wanna own that on disk" ... Moana, Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia are probably the last three good movies they made I haven't bought anything after 2016 from Disney (Coco in 2017 was ok but it felt a little too similar to Book of Life which came out before it)
And not even that, even thou it's noticeable, her skin isn't particulary dark, there are more latin people with darker skin. Seems like Disney went with the safest choice if you ask me.
To me the casted actress for Snow white comes of as arrogant. If she doesn't want to bleach her skin (which I can understand, since it's unhealthy and all) or do any other drastical changes to fit or respect the role, then why did she line up anyways?? I kinda got this "pick me for the Avatar movie"-vibes. 😂 Also imagine a white American lines up for the casting of Tiana and says: "I won't darken my skin for this role."
It's very off putting how you reference dark skin in the same tone as poop. Even if you stated that to not be what you meant, it's odd that's the 'joke' you created about there is being a Snow Brown, which IS strongly tied into skin color, is in correlation to poop. I have dark skin and jokes like that, with those undertones of our skin being dirty and disgusting arent funny. I'm not asking for an apology or anything, maybe just a little awareness in the future about the things you write.
They should go back to fairy tales and if they want diversity then take a que from Princess and the Frog and set it in a different culture. Twelve Wild Swans is a personal favorite, but there's also Snow White and Rose Red (maybe change the first ones name), and East of the Sun West of the Moon, and also stories featuring Princes such as Prince Darling and The White Cat. As for Frozen, massive missed opportunity to include characters from the original. There was a woman with a home that was a permanent spring/summer, a princess looking for a husband who can match her intellectually, and a little girl who would kidnap people to be her friends. Other adaptions had these three and the Snow Queen represent the seasons. (which makes more sense than elements)

I've always considered the live action remakes to be shameless cash grabs. Creatively bankrupt but as long as they made money they could at least in theory go toward financing original ideas. I laughed at that wind toy. That is so dumb. I'm generally opposed to the idea of adding scenes to Snow White. Mostly I think it's a historical art piece that shouldn't be tampered with. Plus, well, nobody's ever seemed particularly pleased with all the stuff they added to the original Star Wars films in the 90s...
2:35 Funny thing is Disney originally sanitized it in the first place. The Queen has like three separate plots to kill Snow White and at the end she's forced to dance in red-hot iron slippers until she drops dead.
First part was less sanitizing and more streamlining, they literally couldn't afford the three attempts, Disney worried it would bore the audience and make the apple less impactful. Second part, personally I think her death in the movie feels more cathartic. (Some fairytales have a bad habit of abruptly ending with "And the villain died horribly".)
There shouldn’t be another Snow White live action movie because we already got Snow White and The Huntsman from Universal, which I thought was a pretty enjoyable take on the story. While it can be classified as dark and edgy, I thought it was visually stunning, and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen was quite good. Highly doubt the Disney version would be nearly as impressive.
Great, Disney continues to be uncreative and forces out shameless live-action remakes, banking only on the film's nostalgia, but somehow stripping it of what made it good in the first place. I feel like Disney itself needs to be remade. Hire people that are creative and aren't a bunch of SJW/Virtue signalling non-humans who don't understand what entertainment is.

Snow White wasn't the first animated feature. It was the first full colour feature length animated film created as a feature, meaning it tells a single story. The first full colour feature length animated film was The Academy Award Review of Walt Disney Cartoons, a package film put out seven months earlier, and the earliest surviving animated feature is the German film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, from 1926.
Everyone is definitely calling that Disney is doing this to change the ending from the Kiss of life and probably have Snow _COUGH_ White, beat up the evil Queen and probably boss the Dwarves around, despite them being nice enough to let her stay in their cottage while they go mining. She'll probably be dark and brooding with have a bad attitude that will make queen look sympathetic, especially since they don't want to show how evil she was in the original. I think they even age restrict the classic on D+ so you'd need an adult account to watch it. There's also the fact a live-action Snow White was already done and it was an abysmal failure. The only thing I was never a fan of the original on, was the fact the Dwarves looked like Gnomes, and that would be the only thing I'd change.
To be fair to Disney, the Hobbit was released only 4 months before Snow White they didn't have a reference for proper dwarfs until very late into production. Also, I hate rebelleader!Snow White. (Mirror Mirror was good though)

(Look up illustrations of the original, they are very gnome-like already.) Edit-It should be noted that Tolkien was inspired by Norse-myth and their dwarfs are a bit different to the one found in German fairy-tales.
Does it really matter what the finer points are of the dwarves' appearances? They're fictional people (speaking of mythical dwarves here, not real life people with dwarfism), it's not like there's an objectively true depiction of them
I got the blu-ray of the original alongside all but one of the Signature Collection releases last Christmas, so I'll stick to that, especially considering the kind of things that Zegler has said... not gonna sell any tickets, I'll tell you that much.
I always saw the scene where the prince kisses snow white as a kiss goodbye thinking she died and the reasons why he didn't appear that much in the movie was because he was the most difficult to animate .
Actually in the original Snow White film, the prince was planned to have more of an expanded role. However, the animators found his character model too complicated and difficult to animate. Thus they cut out most of his scenes to avoid working with the character as much as possible.
If Disney ever asked me to make a Latina princesa I would make her based on Day of the dead. As in one moment she can turn into a living princess and the next a skeleton princess. As well make her travel in between worlds. The colors of her dress would be black, silver and dark purple. ( The king and Queen will be red and blue). The lover would be someone alive. And her animal campaign will be a moth spirit guide.
When people bring up race swapping, people like to use “Their race isn’t important to their character” when talking about white characters. But Snow White’s skin tone was important enough for her to be named after it. But somehow isn’t important enough to keep her from being swapped
The problem, Ladies, is that Hollywood learned in the 80's that the general audience doesn't want anything new, they just want of the same. Which is when they changed to a sequel and remake factory, and for literal decades, they were very successful at it. The reason it's not working now is because they're changing these properties too much. And people STILL don't want anything new.
Out of all the characters from the golden age of Disney Snow White makes the LEAST sense to race bend. It's literally in her name. And Disney totally could have made a Frozen cinematic universe with three (Elsa's element is water and Anna is Spirit and you can't convince me otherwise) other characters embodying the rest of the elements and it probably would have been quite awesome. Then we could have had three brand new poc princesses to showcase and celebrate other cultures instead of the lazy effort of race bending white characters for pandering and profit.
You can make something good and still get paid for it. Filmmakers, theoretically, are artists, and should naturally want to make art, which this will not be. Nobody is saying they shouldn't want to get paid, only that they should make something worth being paid for
Disney has yet to tap into the vast variety of folklore, myths, legends, fairytale land from around the world. Why not share those cultures stories. One in particular that was a success was Moana, one of my favorites. Stop being lazy Disney with this tokenism. Spread the knowledge of other cultures that is far deeper than skin deep (color).

Honestly remaking Snow White is the most horrible thing the company could ever do. Walt Disney wouldn’t approve. This man worked for three years on the original fim, he put a mortgage on his house to finance the film, he was almost completely broke. Why? Because he wanted to prove that animated films could keep people engaged for longer period of time then just the cartoons he made before. He brought a magical story to life in the big screen for the first time and in COLOR with full on musical numbers. Most of his cartons didn’t have much dialogue before. He won an Oscar, a normal Oscar statue with 7 mini statues after it, 8 statues for an Oscar category that didn’t even exist before Snow White came out. Worst thing is he could have just kept going with kids cartoons or could have just made a live action film for kids, but he didn’t, he wanted to prove that animation was the future. So for them to make a live action remake probably with like cgi dwarfs or something that’s gonna be mediocre at best like all others is disappointing. Also side not the casting director should be fired like right now, I have nothing against the women who got cast as Snow White but this character out of most needs to look a certain way, “skin as white as snow” she’s suppose to be a light skinned black haired Princess not a tanned women wearing a wig. Also another reason I don’t think this movie should be demais is because Walt wanted to preserve this film, the original women cast as Snow White was never allowed to voice act again. Walt didn’t let her attend any interviews and she wasn’t allowed to voice act or star in anything ever again as she had to preserve her voice as THE voice of Snow White. She actually was proud of it and got a Snow Whit wishing well installed in her house. He name was Adriana Caselotti, also she wasn’t even invited to the movie premier nor was she mentioned or credited in the film. They didn’t have credits back then so she wasn’t mentioned. So after all this women did and went through and Walt’s desire to keep her voice forever intact as the lead of his great work for them to just hire someone who doesn’t even look the part, is already famous, who’s probably gonna attend interviews and make a lot of money, will be credited in the film, and might need to be auto tuned to be able to sing as high pitched as Adrianna did. I just feel like remaking this movie defeats the purpose of why it was made in the first place and would be like a slap in the face for Walt, all those animators who drew and painted each frame one by one for three years, and to the talented cast of the original film

Like you were talking about Sleeping Beauty I hate the live action Maleficent. Like on it’s own it’s a good movie definitely better than most of the other live action films. I hate Maleficent worked as a villain she was fun as a villain. I wished Aurora had been the focus, in the original she had like 20 minutes of screen time. I think even her dad had more screen time. So I wanted the live action to give her the spot light but nope make Maleficent the main character. Like the original could have literally been called Prince Philip saves Sleeping Beauty. Philip had more development and character then the supposed main character Aurora. Side note Philip is awesome he was the first prince who actually had character and mattered in the story unilike Charming and Florian, Philip was also the first Royal who wanted to fight his parent to marry the person he loved (not Ariel) when he argued with his father how we was in love with a peasant (he didn’t know Aurora was a Princess) but do then make him interesting or expand his story in the live action? There's one other major issue you guys are not putting enough emphasis on .This anti-white agenda. I have absolutely no problem with inclusion and diversity. But it seems that what they really mean is diversity as long as it's not white. Inclusion for everyone but whites. Character is described as having skin white as snow. It's OK if you don't want to do stories about whites. If you feel that it's not diverse enough. Then do stories from other cultures what's different types of characters. I like Mulan ( the original) Moana I thought it was great. As long as they're pushing identity politics will not get a penny of mine or my families money!

Disney has been creatively bankrupt for years since they insist on chugging out these stupid and pointless live-action remakes. If Disney seriously wanted to make bank while also show creativity, they would put a plug on these live-action remakes and stop drinking the kool-aid. They'd actually look at other cultures' stories. There's a ton of amazing folktales and stories that would be *beautiful* if animated and writen with no Western political bs. If they want to have a female lead or new Disney princess, I'd aim for a story like Savitri and Satyavaan - an Indian folktale about a princess who uses her *intelligence* to save her husband from death itself. And then a country actually has a princess rather than some poor amalgamation. I'm sure Mexico and various other Latino countries have a bunch of interesting and lovely folktales you can adapt a princess movie from. Coco showed us Disney could do it, but yet they insist on making these worthless things. The actress shouldn't be shitted on however, but rather the casting couch and Disney. I feel sorry for some of these actresses honestly - probably excited to be a Disney princess but they're just being used for some greedy political agenda. Unless they're also part of the woke crowd which in case, quit drinking the kool-aid. Oh, and if they make the Evil Queen totally redeemable and the Prince a bumbling buffoon, I'm going to blow a gasket.

I think this one could actually be a good idea if done right Walt disney wanted to include more of the prince and some of the plot of what you just said is really great i would love a snowhite live action that was just sweet and like the movie because all the other ones do some crazy twist in some photos she looks really pale with some effects like light could be fine or change her name and be a alternative version where her mother wants a daughter with this color so young girls of color could feel confortable in "snowhite" dress without some friend do a mean comment. The funny thing is that this isn't the first round of live action versions of the movies. Cinderella had a 1997 musical with a star-studded cast; including Brandy Norwood (yes, the singer) as Cinderella. 2000's Geppetto saw Drew Carey as the toymaker in a version of Pinocchio which followed Geppetto's side of the adventure as he looks for his son. Of course, there's the 1992-1995 "Adventures in Wonderland" series because Wonderland ALWAYS comes back! And even Snow White had a Broadway go-around in 1979 which added some songs. With so many versions of the stories floating around, both Disney and beyond, it might be interesting to do some movie comparisons between old and new versions. Y'know, see who got what correct and who got things so badly wrong.
I like how there's already 2-3 live action versions. (The Huntsman, Mirror Mirror, ect) I was disappointed with both, so this one will probably be bad too :/ I hope I'm wrong though LOL
In my opinion, I wanted to see if Snow White's parents will show up in the film remake so badly, I mean it. I know it may too scary to think about Snow White's parents before her and her stepmother are the only left to live. But it's a fact, at least they have to know the similar darkness plot but changes the kindness lessons based of their actions and words to tell properly.
Of all the race-washed characters, snow white literally makes the least sense. Her mother said a rhyme to have skin as white as snow and hair as black as coal, lips as red as blood, etc. Skin colour is specifically mentioned in the grimm fairy tale.

Fun fact: In the original Disney Snow White, they had an entire scene where the prince gets kidnapped by the evil queen and the dwarfs have to save him. It was cut out mostly due to the fact that the animators had trouble drawing the prince. But if you were going to make it in live action, that wouldn't be a problem. But are they going to look into the archives and find these deleted scenes? Nah.

That's what I don't like about reboots that try to make villains sympathetic, the fact that they often make villains out of the protagonists and side characters. Why not create a tragic backstory or a redemption arc for a villain *without* vilifying the protagonists?

I would love an extended version of Snow White, animators at the time were just barely able to make realistic humans so a lot planned for the Prince was cut (and repurposed for Phillip later on) and I would love to see Snow White interactions with the Queen and maybe the Huntsman.
I always had this theory that the Queen tricked Snow White into becoming a servant by claiming it was for her protection. Huntsman could act as both bodyguard/prison guard and this is why Snow White trusts him.

I always felt that Snow White knew that the Queen hated her, after all she didn't show too much surprise when the huntsman told her what the Queen ordered him to do (she was shocked that the queen would go so far as to kill her, though).
Agree. Also, I felt the Prince and Snow White needed more scenes together, so they have more chemistry (Once Upon a Time did an amazing job with the relationship between Snow White and the Prince). I wish Disney was able to put the deleted scene with the Prince getting captured by the Evil Queen and having to fight his way out to save Snow White because this scene would have made the Prince more of a character and show us that he loves Snow White (I believe the prince kissing Snow White is to say goodbye to her because he's heartbroken that she's gone, not to mention the Prince is overjoyed to see Snow White alive and allows her to say goodbye to the Dwarfs which shows that the Prince is a good loving man). Honestly, I wish Disney would put this deleted scene in the live action movie but I doubt it.

In the 1937 film's beginning, Snow White specifically wishes for ''the one I love'' to find her, and the Prince responds later with ''now that I found you'' and sings that his heart is ''ever entreating, constant and true'' and ''keeps singing...only for you'' and all of that makes better sense if they already knew each other but got separated for a while for whatever reason. Snow's wording is specific---there's already someone she does love, not wanting someone to love. Florian's is a tad more nebulous but his whole song sounds like a reassurance to her that his heart is only ever hers (regardless of anything else, which says there is an else), which tracks if they were separated a while, and also explains her nerves on seeing him again. Besides...if he's out for a fairly casual ride by her castle, his kingdom can't be far from hers at all. No way they'd never met before Snow's maid demotion. Which explains her embarrassment, too, at being seen in such a state, and his trouble with finding her again. It makes perfect sense once you stop assuming they've never met before.

I'm sick and tired of hearing that prince from Snow White can't kiss her at the end. This is a fairy tale. And what, the ending where she was in the casket and he order his man to carry her, so she spit the apple is more romantic? This would never be as iconic as true love kiss.
That whole "true love's kiss is non-consensual" controversy is so ridiculous, considering this is a fairy-tale. The movie shows the witch consulting her magic book where it explicitly states that the only way the victim could be woken from the sleeping death is by love's first kiss, and it's not like the Prince and Snow White haven't met before. We don't know know for how long they were seeing each other prior to their meet-up at the wishing well or for how long they were dating before Snow White fled to the woods.
Also, in some European tradition, it was common to give kisses to the deceased as a way of saying goodbye. There's a cultural aspect to this too. His kneeling and bowed head immediately after the kiss certainly supports the idea of it being a simple farewell respect.
And also, we don't know how common or well-known magic is in Snow-White-land. Maybe he knew there was a possibility. Doubtful but still. This is a fairy tale. Please do not clutter it up with your current cultural sensitivities. No one smart likes it.
4:45 I disagree. The prince knew who Snow White was. He knew her name, he knew she was actually a princess. They sang a song together. Yes, that doesn’t seem like much, but there might have been some of-screen romance going on, we don’t really know. And then, a bunch of stuff happens. The prince hears of the princess in the glass coffin, and seeks her out. He is committed to her, and she is committed to him. They aren’t necessarily a “couple” but at least he came to try to have a relationship with her, I mean she’s a princess, she woke up, time to get out of the woods!

I also agree with M with adding more Prince and Snow White moments. It was obvious they were meant to be a couple, even before she had to live in exile, but if they wanted to remake Snow White, it would be beneficial, by making the kiss scene look like he was giving her one last kiss goodbye to someone he loved not knowing that would break the spell. Not some ham-handing exposition dumb out of nowhere which would break the moment.
About your last goodbye kiss point, I feel like that's what they already did in the 1937 version, though, where the Prince after kissing Snow White, goes down on one knee, places his arm on top of it, then bows his head, as a way to pay respect to his presumedly dead love. And the humming chorus further accentuates this.

I think making new characters in a new franchise that are simply based on the original fairytales would be successful. Like Link from "Legend of Zelda" he's based off Peter Pan, and the franchise has callbacks to Peter Pan, I can image similar characters being done with other fairytales, of course I'm the kind of guy who thinks it's cool going into a character's wiki and read about what these characters are based off.
They haven't even reached halfway through the Grimms catalog. They're not even trying. Want diversity? Lots of tales around the world to pick from.
Even then it wouldn't be enough for them. Take a look at what Amazon is doing with the Wheel of Time, for example. It's a huge world, with tons of diversity built right in, and clearly based on real-world people. The people in the north are based on Asian people and cultures, the ones to the east are Irish in appearance, but they also live in a desert so they're tanned, there's multiple mentions of characters who specifically have dark or black skin. And yet, they take the starting cast, who all come from the same village that's been isolated for hundreds of years, to the extent that people in-world can tell where they're from just by looking at them, and they race-swap half the cast
At this point, Disney just race swapping Snow White instead of making a Latina princess is insulting. They made two Latina princesses before but they are only for Playhouse Disney.

She then said that she would love her child to have skin as white as the snow, hair as black as the balcony rails she rested on, and lips as red as her blood. Then she died after Snow White was born, and the King married another woman who became the Evil Queen.
She IS white. I guarantee that if she took an Ancestry test, she would be at least 70% European. Most AAs are only 70- 80% African & we’re still considered black. So it’s the same for this actress. This ideology that whyte must be pure is racist.

It doesn't matter if the actress is technically considered white, because she doesn't have white skin, and is therefore not faithful to the character. Current day Disney is just a bad joke, for the past 5-6 years they have been going downhill (I think around 2016), I have bought a lot of Disney movies DVDs and Blu-rays but nothing they have made in that period had me going "Oh yeah, I wanna own that on disk" ... Moana, Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia are probably the last three good movies they made I haven't bought anything after 2016 from Disney (Coco in 2017 was ok but it felt a little too similar to Book of Life which came out before it)

Twelve Wild Swans is a personal favorite, but there's also Snow White and Rose Red (maybe change the first ones name), and East of the Sun West of the Moon, and also stories featuring Princes such as Prince Darling and The White Cat.
As for Frozen, massive missed opportunity to include characters from the original. There was a woman with a home that was a permanent spring/summer, a princess looking for a husband who can match her intellectually, and a little girl who would kidnap people to be her friends. Other adaptions had these three and the Snow Queen represent the seasons. (which makes more sense than elements)

It's not just my hatred of remakes, Rachel Zegler is a horrible human being in general, Disney isn't only making terrible choices in green-lighting movies, but their casting is even worse! This movie deserves to fail!

I'm generally opposed to the idea of adding scenes to Snow White. Mostly I think it's a historical art piece that shouldn't be tampered with. Plus, well, nobody's ever seemed particularly pleased with all the stuff they added to the original Star Wars films in the 90s...

2:35 Funny thing is Disney originally sanitized it in the first place. The Queen has like three separate plots to kill Snow White and at the end she's forced to dance in red-hot iron slippers until she drops dead.
First part was less sanitizing and more streamlining, they literally couldn't afford the three attempts, Disney worried it would bore the audience and make the apple less impactful. Second part, personally I think her death in the movie feels more cathartic. (Some fairytales have a bad habit of abruptly ending with "And the villain died horribly".)

There shouldn’t be another Snow White live action movie because we already got Snow White and The Huntsman from Universal, which I thought was a pretty enjoyable take on the story.
While it can be classified as dark and edgy, I thought it was visually stunning, and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen was quite good.
Highly doubt the Disney version would be nearly as impressive.
And there are a LOT more of other adaptations of snow white.
Great, Disney continues to be uncreative and forces out shameless live-action remakes, banking only on the film's nostalgia, but somehow stripping it of what made it good in the first place. I feel like Disney itself needs to be remade. Hire people that are creative and aren't a bunch of SJW/Virtue signalling non-humans who don't understand what entertainment is.

Mostly confused because I don't remember seeing any white women dreaming about owning an African restaurant or being discriminated against from the banks due to their skin color.

Everyone is definitely calling that Disney is doing this to change the ending from the Kiss of life and probably have Snow _COUGH_ White, beat up the evil Queen and probably boss the Dwarves around, despite them being nice enough to let her stay in their cottage while they go mining. She'll probably be dark and brooding with have a bad attitude that will make queen look sympathetic, especially since they don't want to show how evil she was in the original. I think they even age restrict the classic on D+ so you'd need an adult account to watch it. There's also the fact a live-action Snow White was already done and it was an abysmal failure.
The only thing I was never a fan of the original on, was the fact the Dwarves looked like Gnomes, and that would be the only thing I'd change.
To be fair to Disney, the Hobbit was released only 4 months before Snow White they didn't have a reference for proper dwarfs until very late into production.
Also, I hate rebelleader!Snow White. (Mirror Mirror was good though)

Edit-It should be noted that Tolkien was inspired by Norse-myth and their dwarfs are a bit different to the one found in German fairy-tales.
Does it really matter what the finer points are of the dwarves' appearances? They're fictional people (speaking of mythical dwarves here, not real life people with dwarfism), it's not like there's an objectively true depiction of them
I got the blu-ray of the original alongside all but one of the Signature Collection releases last Christmas, so I'll stick to that, especially considering the kind of things that Zegler has said... not gonna sell any tickets, I'll tell you that much.
I always saw the scene where the prince kisses snow white as a kiss goodbye thinking she died and the reasons why he didn't appear that much in the movie was because he was the most difficult to animate .
Actually in the original Snow White film, the prince was planned to have more of an expanded role. However, the animators found his character model too complicated and difficult to animate. Thus they cut out most of his scenes to avoid working with the character as much as possible.

If Disney ever asked me to make a Latina princesa I would make her based on Day of the dead. As in one moment she can turn into a living princess and the next a skeleton princess. As well make her travel in between worlds. The colors of her dress would be black, silver and dark purple. ( The king and Queen will be red and blue). The lover would be someone alive. And her animal campaign will be a moth spirit guide.
Sounds a bit like the Corpse Bride meets Book of Life, as a fan of both this sounds awesome.

The problem, Ladies, is that Hollywood learned in the 80's that the general audience doesn't want anything new, they just want of the same. Which is when they changed to a sequel and remake factory, and for literal decades, they were very successful at it. The reason it's not working now is because they're changing these properties too much.
And people STILL don't want anything new.
Disney has enough money to take risks, and they choose to remake films that already have live action adaptations instead of make new ones.

Out of all the characters from the golden age of Disney Snow White makes the LEAST sense to race bend. It's literally in her name. And Disney totally could have made a Frozen cinematic universe with three (Elsa's element is water and Anna is Spirit and you can't convince me otherwise) other characters embodying the rest of the elements and it probably would have been quite awesome. Then we could have had three brand new poc princesses to showcase and celebrate other cultures instead of the lazy effort of race bending white characters for pandering and profit.

Disney has yet to tap into the vast variety of folklore, myths, legends, fairytale land from around the world. Why not share those cultures stories. One in particular that was a success was Moana, one of my favorites. Stop being lazy Disney with this tokenism. Spread the knowledge of other cultures that is far deeper than skin deep (color).

Honestly remaking Snow White is the most horrible thing the company could ever do. Walt Disney wouldn’t approve. This man worked for three years on the original fim, he put a mortgage on his house to finance the film, he was almost completely broke. Why? Because he wanted to prove that animated films could keep people engaged for longer period of time then just the cartoons he made before. He brought a magical story to life in the big screen for the first time and in COLOR with full on musical numbers. Most of his cartons didn’t have much dialogue before. He won an Oscar, a normal Oscar statue with 7 mini statues after it, 8 statues for an Oscar category that didn’t even exist before Snow White came out. Worst thing is he could have just kept going with kids cartoons or could have just made a live action film for kids, but he didn’t, he wanted to prove that animation was the future. So for them to make a live action remake probably with like cgi dwarfs or something that’s gonna be mediocre at best like all others is disappointing. Also side not the casting director should be fired like right now, I have nothing against the women who got cast as Snow White but this character out of most needs to look a certain way, “skin as white as snow” she’s suppose to be a light skinned black haired Princess not a tanned women wearing a wig. Also another reason I don’t think this movie should be demais is because Walt wanted to preserve this film, the original women cast as Snow White was never allowed to voice act again. Walt didn’t let her attend any interviews and she wasn’t allowed to voice act or star in anything ever again as she had to preserve her voice as THE voice of Snow White. She actually was proud of it and got a Snow Whit wishing well installed in her house. He name was Adriana Caselotti, also she wasn’t even invited to the movie premier nor was she mentioned or credited in the film. They didn’t have credits back then so she wasn’t mentioned. So after all this women did and went through and Walt’s desire to keep her voice forever intact as the lead of his great work for them to just hire someone who doesn’t even look the part, is already famous, who’s probably gonna attend interviews and make a lot of money, will be credited in the film, and might need to be auto tuned to be able to sing as high pitched as Adrianna did. I just feel like remaking this movie defeats the purpose of why it was made in the first place and would be like a slap in the face for Walt, all those animators who drew and painted each frame one by one for three years, and to the talented cast of the original film

Like you were talking about Sleeping Beauty I hate the live action Maleficent. Like on it’s own it’s a good movie definitely better than most of the other live action films. I hate Maleficent worked as a villain she was fun as a villain. I wished Aurora had been the focus, in the original she had like 20 minutes of screen time. I think even her dad had more screen time. So I wanted the live action to give her the spot light but nope make Maleficent the main character. Like the original could have literally been called Prince Philip saves Sleeping Beauty. Philip had more development and character then the supposed main character Aurora. Side note Philip is awesome he was the first prince who actually had character and mattered in the story unilike Charming and Florian, Philip was also the first Royal who wanted to fight his parent to marry the person he loved (not Ariel) when he argued with his father how we was in love with a peasant (he didn’t know Aurora was a Princess) but do then make him interesting or expand his story in the live action? Nope make the villain the good guy and now for female power give Philip the 20 minutes of screen time treatment.
There's one other major issue you guys are not putting enough emphasis on .This anti-white agenda. I have absolutely no problem with inclusion and diversity. But it seems that what they really mean is diversity as long as it's not white. Inclusion for everyone but whites. Character is described as having skin white as snow. It's OK if you don't want to do stories about whites. If you feel that it's not diverse enough. Then do stories from other cultures what's different types of characters. I like Mulan ( the original) Moana I thought it was great. As long as they're pushing identity politics will not get a penny of mine or my families money!

Disney has been creatively bankrupt for years since they insist on chugging out these stupid and pointless live-action remakes. If Disney seriously wanted to make bank while also show creativity, they would put a plug on these live-action remakes and stop drinking the kool-aid. They'd actually look at other cultures' stories. There's a ton of amazing folktales and stories that would be *beautiful* if animated and writen with no Western political bs. If they want to have a female lead or new Disney princess, I'd aim for a story like Savitri and Satyavaan - an Indian folktale about a princess who uses her *intelligence* to save her husband from death itself. And then a country actually has a princess rather than some poor amalgamation.
I'm sure Mexico and various other Latino countries have a bunch of interesting and lovely folktales you can adapt a princess movie from. Coco showed us Disney could do it, but yet they insist on making these worthless things. The actress shouldn't be shitted on however, but rather the casting couch and Disney. The funny thing is that this isn't the first round of live action versions of the movies. Cinderella had a 1997 musical with a star-studded cast; including Brandy Norwood (yes, the singer) as Cinderella.
2000's Geppetto saw Drew Carey as the toymaker in a version of Pinocchio which followed Geppetto's side of the adventure as he looks for his son.
Of course, there's the 1992-1995 "Adventures in Wonderland" series because Wonderland ALWAYS comes back!
And even Snow White had a Broadway go-around in 1979 which added some songs.
With so many versions of the stories floating around, both Disney and beyond, it might be interesting to do some movie comparisons between old and new versions. Y'know, see who got what correct and who got things so badly wrong.

In my opinion, I wanted to see if Snow White's parents will show up in the film remake so badly, I mean it. I know it may too scary to think about Snow White's parents before her and her stepmother are the only left to live. But it's a fact, at least they have to know the similar darkness plot but changes the kindness lessons based of their actions and words to tell properly.
