So if you get away and don't have a plate and don't have your phone you might get away, but even if you didn't have your phone on you and you get away if you have a rare-ish car even if you didn't have a plate yes they will arrest you based on your car description. The only way around this is if you have a extremely extremely common car/color which won't be likely because to get away from the cops you'll need something "different"

And whats the statute of limitations on this? They can't just go randomly pulling over every vehicle that matches for weeks/months/years afterwards. Seems like a violation of our rights. @@mytmousemalibu in missouri the statute of limitations is 3 years, so if you didn't have a plate on and you also have a extremely extremely common car/color then you're more likely to get away like in say a white chevy pickup, but that's under the assumption it has literally no distinguishing features, but usually to outrun the cops you need something "different" and different usually means rare-ish, and a grey C7 corvette hard top is different enough that the next time they see you you're probably getting arrested and a warrent for your phones GPS at the exact time and date will be pulled. These people saying "no plate no case" are only looking at it from a surface level, he could still get away, but it's less likely than people think unless he lives a decent ways away from the city the chase was in

I see them quite often. To top it off anyone who runs like this would usually be smarter than to take the car out without changing it up: wheels, remove taillight tint, and even wrap the car another color.

Why did he start pulling him over in the first place? Everyone was doing the same speed from what I saw. The license plate cover was secondary after he started to follow him.
Could be he saw the corvette and was waiting for him to maybe do something illegal or he was going to pullout anyway to go somewhere and then saw the plate cover.
The Corvette was probably going a lot faster, saw the cop or his radar detector went off, and slowed down. Be honest here, everyone does this if they are driving fast enough to get pulled over.

Or the cop was curious and wanted a closer look (the only one he was going to get!) but once he pulled in behind the Vette you can hear on the radio that there was a plate cover, which is an infraction. i.e the reason to initiate a stop. Absolutely true; I pulled a guy over in a station wagon for 90 in a 55 zone. He asked me "did you see that Ferarri that came by hauling ass?" I told him I did (he was on radar at 130+). He wanted to know why I didn't go after him. I told him that going after a Ferarri in a Dodge Diplomat from a cold start was a waste of time, but I knew I could catch a station wagon. He was not happy. I did radio ahead for the Ferarri and I heard he was caught 20 miles away by a Trooper.

I had 2016 Zo6 and I can definitely say that the police are not able to keep up and I’ve had multiple bikes shocked by not being able to keep up.
My C7 Grand Sport stock can outrun 600s. I was pleasantly surprised when I first smoked a pair of 600s on some mountain roads. Out accelerated, out cornered, and left them in the dust. Literally, dust was being pulled up off the road. lol

When I had my corvette cops in Memphis told me that they wouldn't even try if I took off. I would hit 110 in 2nd gear in a matter of seconds without even trying.

I hate when these guys get away, but this perp did it in as quick of order as I've seen. Since his plate was covered over, it makes one wonder what exactly was he up to? I doubt there's any way of ever tracking him down now
A lot of those in the car community have plate covers.
Even if they could track the car, they couldn't prove who was driving.

@@aland7236 You know even with a plate cover the next time that car is seen in that town hes going to jail with felony evading and reckless driving, All the police need is the model of the car and the color especially since theres probably not too many of C7 corvettes in town, this is coming from a criminal defense lawyer. Now if he got away driving a plain grey F-150 and he covered his plate then thats a different story, its the same case if you get away on a lime-green sportbike from the cops even with no plate the next time the cops see you on your lime-green sportbike you're going to jail with a felony.
