- The C7 Corvette was the final year of the front engine layout from Chevrolet. Inder the hood is a 6.2L supercharged V8 pumping out 650HP. On the outside the Z06 has a wider body. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather interior. Is the Chevrolet C7 Z06 the BETTER Corvette than a 2024 C8 Z06?

My 2016 was originally $104k according the the sticker from the Corvette museum. Bought it used and saved about $30k. Such a great car.
The c7 model made me fall in love with corvettes

Great Video Ratti, I actually had the chance to test drive one of these from Texas, and there was nothing but a smile on my face the whole time driving it. Very Underrated car for the money!! The experience of driving a Z06 is second to none
Picked up my M7 C7 with 1800 miles three weeks ago. Best 1400 miles I've put on a car in the 18 years of owning over 15 different cars/bikes. Took me 3 years to find the exact spec and condition! For $80,000 you CAN NOT get any other car that is better for your money! I cross shopped 15 different cars in the 40,000-85,000 range, from c6z to ZL1 1le, to m8 competitions. The closest was the Shelby gt350 because of the tremec voodoo. Unfortunately the Shelby just lacked the "super car" feel and build quality was god awful. Add on top the fragility of the voodoo and paying 70k+ for a low mile gen2 voodoo (2019-2020), the C7Z was a bargain. I intend on keeping my C7Z M7 for a long time, probably never even selling it. What makes the voodoo fragile ?
@@anthonyd55 high revving flatplane crank burns a bunch of oil and vibrates the oil filter off. Check it out with a simple google search

Think a mint C7 Z06 with a manual transmission will keep appreciating in value going forward. Eventually car buyers will get tired of the rear engine Corvettes and want to get back to front engine manual corvettes. The C7 is the last of the Mohicans!
No c8 is a piece of art. There's no going back from that flat plane crank ! When I first saw one in action I was blown away 😮. C7 is also special too just a level lower

I doubt that buyers will get fed up with engine layout , rather more about lack of stick and 3rd pedal but guess some who went from manual route towards auto are fine with magnetic paddle shifter however i still get confused due to fact that it doesn't have a manual stick , wether i want one or an gt350 with manual , C7 and 6 drops out cuz i cannot find a decent one particularly in my area 🤖 the main thing that doesn't turn off option to go with c8 is that r35 long time ago went with auto and people didn't seemed to complain back then which in a way gives me a piece of mind , however wish c8 would have been a proper MR car with manual gearbox just like NA1 nsx
@@alwaysdrivenmaybe the Z06 but in no way would I ever get rid of my C7 Z06 for a C8 stingray. I prefer manual so that’s a huge letdown with the C8 but I wouldn’t say the C8 Z06 is out of the question once the prices come down.

I had the option between C7 and C8, I went C7 and no regrets. Will definitely complement it with a C8 one day.

I loved my 2015 C7 Z06 7 speed. The reason I got rid of it because I my dash was falling apart. Near the defroster area for the windshield, the stitching was bending. Didn’t look pretty. So it made sense to get rid of it before it got worse.

I bought this car a few months ago, in Velocity Yellow, with a 7-speed, and without the stupid spoiler on it. An American legend I'm proud to own. As long as you can swing $650 Michelins, go for it!
The C8 went in a new direction, but its not for me.
I'm old school, and a sports car should have a stick.
Spoiler is great for high speed driving. It’s not a drag car. This is the Z06 made to be a track competitor. The C7R was based off the z06 for that reason
I'd go the C6 Z06. 400lbs lighter with an arguably more solid chassis, since there was no targa, just continuous aluminum frame. And that 7 liter.... 😍
c8 really takes a beating ill tell you that
GM engineers claimed the C7 frame without the roof is sturdier than the C6 frame with the roof mounted.

C7 is superior to the C6 in every aspect. Performance, interior, handling, everything. Don't believe me, drive one, or ask GM. They say the same thing. The platform was maxed, which is why they went to mid engine
Purchased a 2017 2LZ just this past week for all of the reasons he spoke of. It has just over 21,000 miles, and, yes, it is all that and more.
I like the C7 bc manual option, but I love that 5.5L FPC V8
I had the same reaction as you did Raiti , I drove one last year and I laughed so hard, because it was hard to believe how fast and how much power that car really has !! I have Manual Z-51 now , but will upgrade after your video !!!!! lol

Ferocious is the word I'd use to describe the "on throttle". I'm gonna miss cars like this in the future.
I think the C7 is amazing. I think the C8 is amazing. If I was rich, I could easily own both. The sound of this C7 though is "music to my ears". Great video Joe. THANKS !!

As a c7 grandsport owner with about 720hp, this is my favorite corvette. I absolutely love the c8 Z06 but in a different way and will be probably going to it eventually.

Joe, I have a 2016 Z06, 3LZ, convertible and I enjoyed this video, but more importantly, as an old guy, I still own my Atari 2600 with a bunch of cartridges'. Haha! I also have Sega, and Nintendo. The Z06 beats them all...Thanks for the video!

I want a 2019 Chevrolet corvette z06 with the 7 speed manual in admiral blue with the z07 package and 3lz trim in any interior other than beige or tan or whatever, with lowest miles possible

It is such an amazing car and so fun to drive. The wide body with all the accents really make it. It doesn't have the supercharger like the ZO6, but is still a head turner and will get down the road pretty good. The color, though❤❤

I have a 2017 M7 ZO6 with 1900 miles and I love it, and wouldn't trade it for any C8

I was at the Chevy dealership the other day they had a loaded Z06 for $159000 !
C8 z06..here are the facts. Over the c7..faster 0 to 60 times, faster quarter mile times, much better hook up and handling!! And the sound of the FPC is incredible..imo, no comparison!!!
Will lose in a roll race. 200lb ft less torque. That's a lot!

2 minute mark. Lack of torque and being NA kills the C8 up high. 3:35 from a dig and the C8 puts bus lengths on it.
The C8 is a nice car, but to me it just doesn't look like a Corvette anymore. And also no manual is unforgiveable. I've had my C7 Z06 M7 for five years now and I won't be upgrading tot he C8. The widebody C7 is the best Vetter ever. My son just bought a C7 Grand Sport, also manual. Both cars are in storage for the winter since we're in Canada but there will be some epic father/son cruises next summer!

I have a c6 z06 and it truly is something special. It is very fast and has a extremely high power to weight ratio. It honestly feels like it has more than just 505 hp. I love the c7 z06 and would take a c6 and c7 over a c8. It just feels more dangerous and seems more hardcore.

i had a c7 z06 for a couple years and cant deny how awesome it was, both stock and heavily tuned. personally after having a c8 now i could never go back, things like the dct and non lagging screens is just too nice, but i can more than understand the soft spot people have for these
DCT is nice if you don’t need to have it replaced.

I own a C8, keep getting asked if it’s an exotic. Would never have happened in a c7. Much improved performance and interior. A definite leap forward Joe!

@alwaysdriven yea that guy is lying. I own a black htc c8 and it gets so much attention people video taping my car while I'm driving, thumbs up everywhere I go and jaws drop. For a person to not get attention in a c8 is impossible. The c7 is a nice looking car but c8 is far nicer looking in my opinion

I put 10,000 miles on my '19 Z06 7-sp manual before trading it after 2 years. It far exceeded the traction limits of front engine/RWD, IMHO. I now have a '24 C8 Z51, and despite being down 155 hp, it covers 0-60 a half second quicker. The C7 Z06 is like the Mustang GT500 or all the Hellcats, with no traction in 1st gear. I'm not into smoky burnouts, so the C7 Z06 had to go. I preferred my '08 Z06 to my '19, and the C8 is a huge upgrade on both.

17 Z06 2lt A8 with Z07 package Here. I track the car a few times a year. Carbon Ceramics brakes stop on a dime. I always drive it in paddle shift and the shifts get aggressive the harder you get on it. Had a hellcat challenger stick shift before the Z06. The Z is much more performance and handling for the money. Street Legal Race Car.
