Nothing wrong about a bit of fudgery, especially when it works, good to see it solved. Wonder if the plastic oil filter housings are designed to need replacing at every oil change
@@sleepycatpictures1176 just another way for manufacturers to squeeze money out of the motorist, normal oil filters have been ok for decades and easier to replace
@@adambraithwaite3177 Thanks for following! Bodgery was done due to financial constraints. The problem was the MAF sensor and the pipe from the turbo which was was not seating properly thus allowing the boost air to escape. We could hear the noise on acceleration. The actuator seemed to be too loose to me that's why I popped a spring on it. We changed the boost solonoid and the sensor - made no difference. Sometimes either of those two can cause a problem but in this case, no. Van runs fine apart from a large oil leak from somewhere which still has to be solved.
Great video, I've got a 2013 with all the lights on , turbo underboost on the code reader. Turbo is clean and so is the dpf , going to give this a try. The mechanic that's looked at it ( and I use the term mechanic loosely) didn't say anything about the stuff you've looked at.
When driving, we could hear the escaping boost from the turbo. The pipe we nearly changed is only a press fit. It was damaged in a previous removal by the garage. All I did was fasten it down. It's working now okay, fingers crossed! Changing the boost sensor and solonoid has worked for other people but not us, it was the MAF in the end.
what codes is it showing on diagnostic.? i`ve had loads of issues with mine, and now she runs amazingly.. one thing i will say especially with the MAF. do NOT buy cheap universal parts, only use OEM. these engines don`t like it..
@@themagpie_1 Sounds like good advice to me. Sorry can't remember the codes, the son-in-law was dealing with that. Van's running okay, we just need to deal with the oil leaks!
@@sleepycatpictures1176 I have a 1.9 Trafic without the big blue connector, and it was running really well then over night it only has about ten percent of the normal power, and foot to the floor can hardly get up my driveway. Any ideas ? I can't drive it to a garage in it's present state. Thanks
@@jackspratt4343 Sounds like the MAF. We first changed the Boost Pressure Sensor and the one fastened to the right hand side of the inner wing. Made no difference to ours but somebody else with a Vivaro fixed his by changing those two items. Presumably the engine starts well enough? Probably not related, but I had a similar problem with Old Stinky. Turned out to be the EGR stuck open. There was so much exhaust gas going into the intake it could not accelerate! I had to blank it off in the end.
@@sleepycatpictures1176 Thanks for your reply. I had an EGR related problem that rendered the van almost undriveable and leaving behind palls of black smoke.It was pinking like crazy and surging. I turned the EGR around and disconnected it and this did help alot initially but then returned back to the pinking and smoking and surging. This was caused by the air filter being coked up. Once replaced , the van drove like a dream for a few weeks until I drove across town to pick up something, and when I restarted the van to return home, it was totally down on power. Almost can't make it up the drive, lucky to get it back since there are mild hills around here. p.s. I had already just replace the MAF with an expensive one, and have also disconnected it to default to a backup fuel mapping. No joy. Another youtuber suggested the wiring loom is faulty. I get fault codes P1806, P1814, P1802 , P1806 . P1806 Short circuit to battery 4 wheel drive ( its not 4 wd as far as I know ). P1814 same as P1806. P1802 Transmission Clutch interlock safety switch short circuit to battery. P1802 the same Transmission Clutch safety lock. Thanks again.
@@jackspratt4343 Crikey, buy a Ford. Some fault codes will still activate even if that item is not fitted. A leaking intercooler will give those symptoms. Check the face of it and look for any oily residue. I had a Diesel Vectra with the same problem, smoke and no power. As soon as I re-plumbed the pipeing, it went like stink.

Seems like it. It was readily available at the Spares shop, and on line!

Been following..but pity you didn't pin point the problem..was it the pipe to the turbo ..or actuator..or one of the sensors..great video thou..

MAF sensor and a broken boost pipe from the turbo. Broken ignition switch did not help neither!
