In todays video I installed a Ezgo RXV Key Switch in the 72v Lithium Cushman Hauler Pro utility golf cart. This key switch features the on/off function as well as the Forward Neutral Reverse (FNR) all built into the same unit. This is an easy install that can be accomplished with a little patience.

Thanks for info on using an RXV switch. My first cart was an RXV, so we were familiar with it's switch. I have now a TXT but hated the switches. So I followed your lead and swapped in the RXV switch. It's a way more intuitive design. For me it was a simple 48v setup, no relays needed. Again, thanks for the idea, and now there's at least 1 cart out here that was switch/swapped!
I have txt what color wires on factory harness go where on switch I understand abcd but on txt harness in dash I need colors that connect to each position
Good to know about thar connector. I have been planning on running that switch on my EV.
Great video!
Cool video, thanks for sharing.
I would be curious if the keys are all the same or different.....
That 12 volt thing is weird, you would have thought it would have caused a issue when you put the Navitas controller in. There must already be a step down transformer in the system some where.
Very cool idea, I would've thrown every tool in the shop trying to figure out the relay bypass.
Relays are actually quite fun. You can do all kinds of things with Relays
Mr Ryan do you have a video with you installing this switch on the 89 club car I have the same year I will love to see how you did it so I can do mine ?
Do you have a video of the install of this switch on the 1989 Club car DS you mentioned?
How do you hook up the wires with a Ezgo txt with the fnr switch and ignition on the dash, I have a total of 5 wires but the new switch I got only has 4? Is there one that doesn’t get hooked up? Thabks
I have a 06 ezgo golf cart I want to upgrade my forward and reverse to a Toggle switch. What would I need to get rid of the lever that I have to a Toggle switch?
I have a 2002 CC DS. I really would like to do this swap, but the "shifter" style FnR switch appears to have E motor connections as well as the switch wiring. How would I handle that swap?
Hey Ryan,
I’m not nearly smart enough to do a lot of these upgrades to my 2006 Club Car DS but would love to try. I live in Mount Pleasant. Is there anybody or anywhere you can suggest near me that can help me? Taking things apart and putting them back together is no problem but all the electrical stuff is WAY confusing to me. I’m lost.
Thanks,
Mitch Embler
Been searching for this connector but not having any luck. Any more specifics on what it is used for on an LS? I have ordered 4 different style 4 pin pigtails and non fit.
I would like to say thank you for all of the amazing Golf Cart videos, I have built one almost identical to your white one. Also I Just pick up a Ford Th!nk Neighbor, I need you to get one so I can copy your lead!!! Maybe one day I can get you to Vegas so we can install the Navitas motor and controller. I really appreciate the Fentertainment channel!
Thank you, I appreciate it. How do you like the ford think?
@@Fentertainment I think the Ford thinks are awesome! I have a few neighbors who have them.. but I brought my think as a project. One of my problems is, I can’t find any information or videos on trouble shooting them.. but I will get it eventually.
@@mikesang9756 The manuals are available on line. You just have to figure out which generation you have. I almost bought the complete frame from one but it was the oddball year and parts were marginally available
What other electronics will I need to delete factory F&R in 96 ezgo txt
Question...I just bought a 3 position switch for headlights for a gas ezgo txt. My question is, I have the blue and green from the cart harness plugged on but do not know how to wired the harness on. Do I take the positive and negative of the light harness (with fuse) and plug it on to the switch instead of the battery?..I'm only getting 3.5v from the cart harness...where do I get the 12v from?...can I splice into a wire with 12v....I'm lost.
Can the river switch be put on my ergo cart 2004 model
I have a txt ezgo golf cart with fwd/rev switch by right leg of driver. Can I install RXV key switch?
Have you had any issues running 48/72 volts to the RXV key?
I have a 2008 ez go. All of the sudden when I turn the key on the box under the seat makes a couple abnormal chirps and then does nothing. (Won’t go in forward or reverse) any idea what could have went bad? Thanks.
I have an EZGo RXV 6 seater and my ignition switch is a 6 pin with 5 pins being used.... I can't find a 6 pin switch any idea what the 5th pin is?
can you just run 72v thru the RXV switch so you dont have to use the relays?
Hey man I am local to you. Do you have any parts for a DS?
Great video. Do you have a video converting your manual forward/ reverse to the electronic toggle system? I’m wanting to do this on a 97 ezgo.
Not yet but its planned.
Interested in this as well.
Could I do the opposite and hook up the remote on/off switch from one of your older videos to my RXV and then wire up a TXT PDS forward/reverse rocker switch using wires B,C, and D?
Did u figure out which wire for.the wireless kill switch I am looking for same answer
I just inherited an '89 - 36V DS and would like to do this mod. I didn't see any on your channel, do you have any videos of the rebuild you did on the '89 you mentioned in this video? What else is needed besides the Albright SW182? Will I need to upgrade to 48V? Great videos, with great content!
The reversing contactor is available with different coil voltages. You can keep 36v if you want and do it. The 182 would be suitable for mostly stock carts, However if you plan to lift the cart with an aftermarket controller I would consider the sw202.
@@Fentertainment Thanks Ryan. I know you're a busy man, but would it be OK to email you to discuss my project...I have a few upgrade questions.
Have you ever or would it work to T-off the B wire to run a voltage reducer to run accessories that shut off when the cart is off. Suppose you could run the negative from the reducer back to the batteries.
If you want to power your accessories down when the cart is off then you would need to add a relay to the key switch and power wire to send power to the converter when the key switch is on. The blue 5 wire converter has a key switch wire to do this but it still converters 48 to 12 when the cart is on. But I did make a video of this exact thing - ua-cam.com/video/yBuia-M_jHQ/v-deo.html
This relay method will work with any reducer, even the 5 wire reducers. You would just have to use the main power 48v and the key switch 48v together and let the relay send power when the cart is on or off.
Hey Ryan, will this be a plug & play for my 2008 EZGO TXT? Its 36 volts... Will I need a relay? Please advise.
Its only plug and play for a ezgo rxv. With a little modifications it will work on any golf cart that is normally operated by a switch and not a lever.
@Fentertainment I ordered the pigtail... Thanks for the link. Will I need to do anything special for my 36 volt cart?
Hey Ryan, what do I do with the original key switch wires when wiring the new RXV switch?
Can you explain how you would do this on a non PDS system. I want to move the lever system on the body to the dash with a toggle switch.
There is another part you will need. Hard to explain but maybe one I will do that video in the future.
@@Fentertainment do you have the part number for the extra part?
I would love this part number and a video also
how did you convert from a poverty lever forward/reverse arm to the key switch?
This cart didnt have the poverty lever in it. It had a regular switch but I changed it out for the rxv switch.
@@Fentertainment I thought you made a comment of converting a 1989 club ds from poverty lever to the sw 182 or 202 switch? how /what is the procedure please.
@@danielleichty5699 I did. I really need to make a video of doing that. Its hard to explain how to do it but you will need a pair of reversing contactors and a switch to do so.
@@Fentertainment I would really love it if you could do a video and a list of parts.
I have resurected a 94 ezgo marathon from the depths for the local VFW Post 51 Spokane, Wa. for use during the County Fair . So the older member/volunteers don't have to walk to the food booth and a switch would be much easier then the lever. I've already added lights and turn signals and thinking of a stronger motor( as this 36v will only do 8mph with 3 adults avg weight). any help in modifing would be greatly appreciated.
I got a 36v pds and iam confused as to where the middle wire goes from my toggle. Top wire is Forward bottom wire is Reverse.
middle wire is the power input wire.
Thank You@@Fentertainment
Ryan,
I have really missed out on a lot in the last 1 or so. Like being in a coma for awhile. I was wondering if your Facebook page “golf cart untied” is it still active?
