I think ABBA may have mastered the pop genre more than any other group. There's something about a band when you can listen to a song and think "I probably like 15 of their songs better than this one" and it's still a great catchy song that you would happily sit and listen to.
I think along with their exceptional vocals, their music was always masterpiece compositions that you can play and enjoy over and over. I am into drums and their main studio drummer, Ola Brunkert, (R.I.P.) just ALWAYS delivered. His playing style was relatively simple, yes, but his beats were always clean, well-placed and tasteful.
Amber don’t stop pulling ABBA. There are so many more to choose from. I am little surprised you have yet to do Dancing Queen. I believe it is perhaps the song they are known for and gets played to this day. Thanks for playing this awesome group.

“The Day Before You Came”is possibly one of most sinister pop, songs ever written. Some people think it’s a happy love song, but it’s the complete opposite.
Absolutely. Their dark, mature early 80s stuff (1981’s The Visitors album & their last singles from 1982) is probably the best stuff they‘ve ever done.
The movie " MAMMA MIA" and the 2nd movie has to be on your movie list....They are both very good...and the music is the soundtrack of ABBA's playlist. It's a really fun watch.
Oh yes. More of the special blend of voices that is ABBA. Two suggestions for next time are Voulez-Vous and I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do. I don't think you have done either of them. A Super Trouper is the name of a follow spot, the light that isolates the stars and follows them around the stage. The song is about the singer on the stage being lit by the spot and feeling isolated on the stage where she can't see her boyfriend or the audience.
ABBA dominated '70's pop music because of all the reasons you mentioned: their versatility and musicality and their feel good vibe. The world is a better place because of their music.

I didn´t like ABBA back in the days, more into progressive rock, but I have definitely capitulated. Their compositions, arrangements and singing is just world class, and as you say, it makes you happy.
BTW ''Take a chance on me" 1977/'Super Trouper" 1980 were both no1 singles that ABBA dared putting an accapella intro long before bands such as Pentatonix and Home Free got it cool.
So you know "super trooper" is the brand name for a theater's light fixture like a spot light. *Beams are going to find me, but I won't feel blue...' cause somewhere Iin the crowd there's you."❤😊
ABBA was one of mine and my partners all time favorites. It's too bad the two couples divorcing at the top of their careers broke them up. They tried to reunite a little later in the early 80' s, but there was too much history. They came back together in 2018 and produced another studio album. However; I am partial to the great classics that still have a place in this millennium. Great four part harmony. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Can't go wrong with Abba, just wonderful music and brilliantly produced. Even when the ladies are singing on their own, there is always a harmony somewhere in the back to make the sound bigger.
Without looking any details up, I can immediately tell you this got to number one, in the UK, around December 1980. Big changes and upheavals, regarding parents divorce, and moving home happened to the 7 year old me, at that point, and my mind always gets zoomed back to that point in time, upon hearing this song. Abba were perhaps the greatest pop band ever. Perhaps. And oh....I say this, completely without any ego, or "I know better than you", but the much more accurate way of saying Agnetha, is to pronounce it "Ann-yetta". Keep up the good work, people 👍
I love that Jay said that whenever you hear ABBA you know that sound. That's the thing about 60s, 70s, and 80s music. When you heard a song you knew who the artists were because they didn't all sound the same. You knew if it was ABBA, BeeGees, Air Supply, Manilow, etc. just from the sound.
I think ABBA may have mastered the pop genre more than any other group. There's something about a band when you can listen to a song and think "I probably like 15 of their songs better than this one" and it's still a great catchy song that you would happily sit and listen to.

@@ewajohansson8398 That's incorrect. Stig (Stikkan) Anderson co-wrote a bunch of ABBA songs. They in fact referred to him as the fifth ABBA...
@@tube1062 ok,Thanks!!!!
I know you love Bowie look at ashes to ashes moon age daydream live in 1973 and his last song Lazarus literally right before he died that's why he says soon I'll be free
you have to listen to ABBA's "I Still Have Faith In You" After 40 years they came back and this song was the first one of their new songs nominated for a Grammy. It is unique. It is an anthem to about their return. The video is exceptional as it is a historical footage review of ABBA. You must do it just to see the uniqueness of the song.
Love this song and it’s really underrated and underplayed.

...and ODE TO FREEDOM is a Anthem too!!!
So beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤
ABBA are the greateast pop group of all time, from their harmonys to their songwriting, there are no bad songs.Im gratefull they sang the soundtrack to my life.
Love the third verse: Frida's delivery: Goosebumps!
In the UK this song was the 4th best seller of 1980. The album was the best seller of the year, number one for 9 weeks abd at the time, had the biggest advance sales ever in the UK.
Abba = Pop Royalty ❤
'Part of a success that never ends.' - ABBA rules!
My mother was a big fan of ABBA, bought the new albums when they came out, she's passed away but I still have the albums.
You will love “When All is Said and Done!”
One of my absoluye faves.
dancing queen is a must i also love arrival its just music but fantastic.
Dancing Queen is great. It was in the Movie "Miss Congeniality"!
Mama Mia is another great song. I always liked "The Piper" and "Happy New Year". 😊
They definitely need to listen to “Happy New Year” in late December.
This has always been my favorite song of theirs apart from The Winner Takes it All.
'one of us' , 'thank you for the music' by legend ABBA~!!!
“One of Us”! Yes!!!! It’s a haunting song and their music video was interesting, featuring Agnetha setting up a new apartment after a break-up.
I'm assuming you are saving the best ABBA song for last...namely, Dancing Queen.
ABBA Lay all your love on me is my absolute fave
I say this every time you play an ABBA song but Super Trouper isone of my favs definitely in my top 5 :D Andante Andante is my number 1
Anni-Frid Lyngstad is a Mezzo Soprano and Agnetha Faltskog is a Soprano, When you blend their two voices it's pure magic.

I Have a Dream
Honey, Honey
Mamma Mia
Chiquitita
Dancing Queen
Super Trouper
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
Voulez Vous
Does Your Mother Know

Waterloo
You've already made a decent dent in it so I hope you'll get to the movie at some point, I have no doubt you guys would love it!
"Dancing Queen" was released as a single in Sweden on 16 August 1976... you'll love it 💃
I didn´t like ABBA back in the days, more into progressive rock, but I have definitely capitulated. Their compositions, arrangements and singing is just world class, and as you say, it makes you happy.
ABBA is a one-of-a-kind band. Their music will live forever!!
BTW ''Take a chance on me" 1977/'Super Trouper" 1980 were both no1 singles that ABBA dared putting an accapella intro long before bands such as Pentatonix and Home Free got it cool.
Their last number 1,always unfairly in shadow of its immediate predecessor ❤🎩
They could really sing, and the guys were ahead of their time in the studio, which resulted in excellence.
PLEASE please please do Dancing Queen next, you both will be knocked out of your chairs!!!😏
You'll love The Winner Takes It All and One Of Us
Most complex and amazing songs from ABBA are Lay All Your Love On Me, The Visitors and The Day Before You Came. Masterpieces all.
Yes! The first two you mentioned remain my favorite ABBA songs.
Absolutely two of the best songs by anyone ever!
You can always count on an ABBA song having a great chorus!
Can't go wrong with Abba, just wonderful music and brilliantly produced. Even when the ladies are singing on their own, there is always a harmony somewhere in the back to make the sound bigger.
Yet another great ABBA song. It great to hear Anni-Frid's voice shining here.
Keep up the good work, people 👍
More, more ABBA!
