Bjorn wrote the lyrics of this song about his and Agnetha's daughter Linda. So VERY many beautiful songs by Abba. Their daughter was born 4 days before me on February 23rd 1973. Hard to believe as I am 51 now. This was written when she was about 8 years old.

Song reminds me of my late mother and all she went through raising a disabled child (me), and another son and losing a daughter to stillbirth. My mum was also born on Feb 23. She passed away 12 years ago but I still feel her presence in my life and I hope I always will ❤

My daughter was born on February 23rd 1996 and this song was forefront when she started school and again when her daughter (my beautiful Granddaughter) started school 5years ago. The time does go by so fast, treasure every moment.

Amber, just have to say… I watched you and saw how the song and the lyrics got into your soul and heart, just as it does to me when I listen to it ❤️🙏🏻 A little pity that Jay stopped the song and started commenting, although beautiful and true words: But it made you come back from the mesmerising and sensual place you were in. Would’ve been interesting to see your emotions all the way through 💖🌟 Thank you both for listening to my childhood songs that I grew up with, and see and hear your reactions 😍

Damn it! I am not married, no children but every time I listen to this song I start to cry a lot. Though I hate to cry.
This song is so beautiful that it hits me down in a way that I cannot hold the tears.

Alright so i am from sweden, and we swedes are very proud over ABBA! in my oppinion ABBA is the best group ever. And for the people that says they dont like abba songs they are lieing to themselfs. Its impossible to not enjoy abba music 😊

    • @HolgerJakobs
      @HolgerJakobs 11 днів тому

Too bad you Swedes didn't appreciate them more in their heydays. They were more popular in the rest of Europe and in Australia, while in Sweden many people said that they are just producing mainstream pop music. They just didn't realize the intricacies and the depth of the songs.

    • @henkebenke573

@HolgerJakobs that is not really true, abba is a loved group in sweden. But there will always be people that dont like certain things, i can only speak for myself but i love abba songs, but you are correct that for in example australia abba was really huge

Not only moms but fathers as well. At 69 I think back on my two boys as they grew. All the things we wanted to do and never got the chance, all the 'events' which occur as they grow. My wife and I lost our oldest in 2019 at the age of 38 and are now raising his three children, two boys, 19, 18, and a girl, 16. We talk often of their Dad and stories of his younger years.

This sweetly melancholy ballad is from what was until recent years ABBA's last album, 1981's The Visitors. On the original release it was the last-but-one track, and led into another ballad, the almost eerie Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, with a stunning solo lead by Frida Lyngstad. At the end of this audio you've listened to here, you hear a clock ticking. That runs right through the other song, along with what sounds like a music box, accompanying Frida. It is absolutely gorgeous. Give it a listen...
Oh. And on the subject of songs written for/about an artist's children...also listen to Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel and, especially, Forever Now by Michael Buble...

In the late 70's my wife and I separated for a time and when I heard this song it made me think of my 2 young boys (ages 5 and 9 at the time) and how much I was missing the early part of their lives. I want to keep them around me and small. A 14 year old ,an 8 year old,3. 7 year olds,a 4 year old and a new baby due in a few weeks. I hit 65 this week and don't know where the time has gone. The fact that they are growing so quickly makes me sad,but I can't wait to see who they become, all 6 have different personalities but blend so well. All this is captured in this song.

On the day that I would return to Europe, knowing that it was our last farewell, my mother clasped my face in her hands and declared, “Oh, how I love you child!” This song always recreates that memory for me.

I recommended this song a while back & I thank you both for this reaction video. Once the song started I watched Amber's emotions come through the same way my mother's did when she heard it for the first time & it was beautiful. When this song came out in 1981, My mother & sister were dealing with hard times between them. One night, my mom & I were on the way home from work & I played "Slipping Through My Fingers" in the car for her. She told me to pause the tape & we pulled over to the side of the road to listen to it. It brought tears to our eyes! When we got home, my mom & sister patched things up permanently & became closer. There was only love between them till our mother passed in 2000. Everyone should hear this song!

Love to witness your Abba journey. Absolutely would love to hear you react to the live concert video of Does Your Mother Know/Hole in your Soul, more specifically the latter. Amazing energy!

Thank you so much for reacting to one of ABBA's hidden gems!! And one of my favorites!! Not only can this apply to a Mom or Dad sending off their child to school, but it can also mean, as Amber said, apply to a parent/child relationship at so many other points in life. Even watching an elderly loved one getting older knowing it may not be long before they are not with us anymore...on this side!! Or perhaps a friend who lives far away and the feeling we get when a cherished visit with them must come to an end. Beautiful song!!! Beautiful reaction!!

I'm so glad to see you guys back doing some ABBA.. they are so diverse on their music in style and composure. Here's a few. " That's Me" , " Tropical loveland" , " The Piper" , " Good as New" , and some real early songs have a different sound yet , ballad style. "Dissolution" , "Crazy World", "Hasta Manana", . Ring Ring , picks up the pace and if you want totally rock! ," Watch Out" is a good one... you definitely do have to do "Voulez-Vous"... they are wonderful and all different!... there's more but this will do for now.. good job you guys!... Love ABBA!!...
And if you get a chance listen to "Gimme Gimme Gimme a man after midnight" , the long version... it has more depth and a dance track composition... really cool....

Possibly my favorite song in the entire ABBA catalog! Everything about this song is beautiful. You both have reacted to a few of Don McClean's amazing songs as well, but there's one that very few people are aware of - I would like to hear your reactions to "What Will The World Be Like".

I am a 66 year old guy, I have been asking for this for ages, it affects us guys too, knowing our little princesses are growing away. I was tearing up watching Amber's realisation of it all. Enjoy them while they are young, time goes too fast.

Chris de burgh'' "Here for you" deals with similar themes. It's about him having to let his girl explore the world for herself ("And now a plane must take away, my child that life has found. And you will be up in the sky, and I'll be on the ground). His daughter won Miss World at 19 and sings backing vocals on the track. It is well worth a listen.

Amber, I feel the way you do. Especially when my "little girl" got married two years ago. As a single mom, this is poignant. All the moments that slip through our fingers. . . and now I'm a grandma-to-be! The time goes so fast. Cherish every moment!

When this song comes up, I, a 40 year old man, still lay my head in my Mom's lap and she strokes my hair. We had a big bonding moment when Mama Mia came out. I wouldn't trade it. I still send her this song, or the scene from the movie, from time to time, because we only see each other a couple times a year, and phone calls only do so much. You never stop needing your mom.

Amber, I was just the same as you when I heard this song on the movie MAMA MIA. I have 2 girls, but they are 30 and 31 now. They were young back then. I thought, I’m not going to make it when they grow up and move out.
Have you watched that yet? You should.
Also MY LOVE MY LIFE is another beautiful song from them.

I totally get it. What's amazing is, Abba recorded this way back in 1981. I was 12, and I remember sitting there and tearing up way back then. And even today, it touches people's hearts just as much. They really write timeless music.
