This song was number one in every country on earth for about 1 million weeks. I stopped watching the Top 10 on Countdown because I knew what the number one song would be. OMG! that one brought tears to my eyes, as a Kid I had a portable record player that ran on battery, and have not even thought of this song, since I had this in our family cabin on the Salmon River, Idaho. In the late 70's, one by one the Forest Service found ways to get all the old timers off the river, and one by one, burnt all the cabins down. It was the beginning of the 80's as we lost our cabin, and a couple years later, it was burnt to the ground, along with my old portable record player, and the few childhood favorite records I cherished as a kid, runnin nakid through paradice, then at night to lay out under the stars and listen to this great song. Remember hearing this when it was released... can't believe it was 1976. Almost 50 years old and still incredible... Cracking tune... the lovely drop with the Gdim chord on "Though we never thought that we could lose, there's no regret" part always got me...
Hi from Cape Town! Love it when you react to ABBA! Please don't stop! Fernando was one of their biggest world wide hits. I'm so excited to hear ABBA today because I've booked tickets to go and watch ABBA The Movie tomorrow. I first watched it as a teenager in the 1970's and I remember the queue to watch it went right around the block of the 1500 seater movie house. The movie house doesn's exist anymore and I'm not a teenager anymore but I've never stopped listening to their music. I can't wait for tomorrow!
Thanks for the reaction. Love ABBA when people thought you were a nerd to do so. Great vocals and, you are correct. They never miss. Every song is golden. Thanks again for the reaction. Love you both. Much respect from Texas.
As always a great reaction vid. Thanks for another Abba song and so many more to visit, I can't wait lol. Keep up the awesomeness and next Abba hit.... Ohh so many to choose from but you can't go wrong with anything Abba 😊
This tune is about a (supposed) friend who fought during the Mexican revolution... That's why girls wear those dresses and boys wear cowboy outfits ('Marty Mc-Fly' style😄). When Frida (Anni-Frid) and Agnetha combine their voices, something called "the third voice" of ABBA emerges. One voice is almost indistinguishable from the other... it seems like someone different... they even produce a somewhat metallic sound sometimes... 🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️ is AMAZING 🤩! GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN, GUYS! ❤️🇨🇱😘👍
Such a haunting melody and one of my favourite ABBA songs of all time which is saying something seeing as they have made some incredible songs over the years! Chiquitita I think is my favourite track of theirs as it is so beautiful, however I also loved one of their last hits, 'The Day Before You Came'!
Two people who crossed into Mexico to help in the fight. Of course, we all know how that ended. And may i say the ladies looked AMAZING in those Mexican dresses. GORGEOUS
How funny! I was just telling a friend the other day that this was my favorite ABBA song. Hadn't thought about the band in ages, now I'm seeing 'em everywhere!
The harmonies of course are fantastic. But in this song, what really stands out for me is the vocal delivery in the first verse, where Anni-Frid creates so many interesting sonic details, for instance the second time she sings 'Fernandoooo-o!' is so unique and memorable and iconic without being over the top - just love it!
ABBA is/was a once in a lifetime experience. I was about nine years old when I heard "Take A Chance On Me" for the first time and I was obsessed from that point on For every birthday, every Christmas, I wanted an ABBA album, or something ABBA related. There was just something absolutely magical about them and I don't know if it will ever happen again. If you want to hear the guys (well, mainly Bjorn) taking the lead, check out "Why Did It Have To Be Me", "Does Your Mother Know" and "Another Town, Another Train." If you want some amazing disco grooviness, try "Voulez Vous" or "On and On and On." One of my favorites has always been "Hey Hey Helen." It's one that isn't as well known, but I think you'd really enjoy it
A lot of people (like me) will claim they are not big fans of ABBA as it wasn't "cool" to like them. But if an ABBA song comes on the radio they will sing along and know every word.
That was certainly a phenomenon in 80s. Beegees as well. All because they were considered disco and because of the truly bad disco, the whole genre became uncool. But with the passage of time, most everyone has come around and recognized them as the great group they were.
The first record I ever bought was ABBA's 2nd album "Waterloo", in 1974 when I was 10. I'd saved up my pocket money for ages.. and bought an ABBA t-shirt that Christmas. One of my absolute favourite bands then and they still are ☺. Loved seeing your reaction guys! Thanks for sharing.
This was number 1 in Australia for the longest time and it's still haunting and beautiful. Eagle is another perfect song of theirs with soaring vocals and awesome music. Lotsa luv ❣
Kelly, 14 long weeks Fernando was Number 1, thankfully "Howzat by Sherbet" finally replaced them from the Number 1 slot. 1976 was an amazing year for quality music .
@@ivorb8835 I remember! Lots of Aussies that need to be rediscovered, like the Ted Mulry Gang (Jump in my Car), Skyhooks (Horror Movie) and Mi Sex (Computer Games) - to name a scant few!
"Fernando" and "S.O.S." are my most favorite ABBA songs. It was interesting how you spoke about how upbeat ABBA songs are, especially since I knew going in that this song has a different tone. Not downbeat, but slower and a little more dramatic. I was curious then how you'd both react. So glad you guys enjoyed it. It is a great song.
It must be so amazing to hear Abba songs for the first time. This is how I was as a kid, totally entranced by every new single..and when an album came out, my God, I couldn't wait to get it home and listen spellbound. My parents must have had year after year of Abba, but hey they loved them too and 50 years on, their music is loved by millions who adore them. They're truly special. love Abba
My strongest connection with an ABBA song is with "Does Your Mother Know?"-- not for any *real* reason other than cranking it loud and singing/dancing to it in middle school (almost 50 years ago). SUPER fun, but probably almost inappropriate in today's world (although the narrator in the song encourages keeping things chaste lol). It's one where Anni-Frid and Agnetha sing background to Björn's main vocals. If you give it a whirl, do not under any circumstances listen the Mama Mia version.
The song is one of ABBA's best-selling singles of all time, with six million copies sold in 1976 alone. It is one of fewer than forty all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) physical copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.

What do we have here!Benny's/Bjorn's genius songwritting + Frida's and Agnetha's utopic vocal and visual chemistry.Another '70s/all time masterpiece.
I love ABBA but i love you both so much!!!!! I can't stop watch your videos since I met you!!! Saludos from Argentina!
Can't go wrong with ABBA. So many great hits, like this one.
My favourite Abba song! I just love the way you both totally lose yourselves in the music too. Great choice!!xx
Abba are the best even after all these years❤
One of my favorite ABBA songs. So beautiful.
Thanks for the reaction. Love ABBA when people thought you were a nerd to do so. Great vocals and, you are correct. They never miss. Every song is golden. Thanks again for the reaction. Love you both. Much respect from Texas.
From Texas here too, close to the Rio Grande. ❤️🤘
As always a great reaction vid. Thanks for another Abba song and so many more to visit, I can't wait lol. Keep up the awesomeness and next Abba hit.... Ohh so many to choose from but you can't go wrong with anything Abba 😊
Like Mozart and Bach to classical music, ABBA is to pop music
Absolute masters 🙌
How Great To Play That Superb Song 😊They Are A Group Of Perfection Always
🎉🥂👌😊
This is a beautiful song♥️✌️ Love ABBA!! 🌷🎼👏🏻Thanks guys!! ♥️
-#cheers-- !-
beautiful beautiful beautiful song, brings back memories of when it was first released. great song
Fernando is my all time favourite Abba song, it is absolute perfection both lyrically and musically
LOVE this song! And, Love ABBA!
So true ! Frida ❤❤
Oh, this song GET ME EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!
If you want to hear the guys (well, mainly Bjorn) taking the lead, check out "Why Did It Have To Be Me", "Does Your Mother Know" and "Another Town, Another Train." If you want some amazing disco grooviness, try "Voulez Vous" or "On and On and On." One of my favorites has always been "Hey Hey Helen." It's one that isn't as well known, but I think you'd really enjoy it
I have loved this song from when it came out. It is a musical masterpiece.
My favorite Abba song!! The pan flute…snare drum tapping… the song is a story for all senses ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This has always been my favorite ABBA song! way before video, just audio.
Yup, there it is... the smile when that chorus comes in...inevitable.
Two beautiful voices sing as one stunning
You guys are good people! Prayers for God to bless you abundantly! Iron does Sharpen Iron brother! Love your hearts!
They are fantastic!
bless you both for sharing this phenomenal group with another generation!
They're truly special. love Abba
'Dancing Queen' and 'The Name of The Game' are two more awesome Abba tunes. Cheers.
Everybody Loved Abba in the day! :) Great Choice Amber! (Hard to Miss though :) ) Another Great Reaction You Guys!
I LOVE ABBA!! I just saw their ABBA Voyage concert in London a couple of weeks ago and I highly recommend it!! It was phenomenal!!!
It is one of fewer than forty all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) physical copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
yea,That's true and phenomenal!
Best group of our time,I love everyone of their songs, there's so much more of their songsfor you to play, you'll be blown away.
Some not so well-known Abba songs, but so beautiful are "Move On" and "I have a dream".
Favorite ABBA song!
Love your reaction and this song. I can’t help but dance whenever I hear it.
One of my favorites by ABBA
FYI- Cher does this song in Mamma Mia 2- it’s fantastic!
Cher did a whole album of ABBA covers. I love it😊
This is my FAVOURITE Abba song! My second is Chiquitita! Love them! Yes I clicked STRAIGHT away! Lol!
ABBA does have a very beautiful and unique sound! They blend so well with such an angelic harmony!😇
Really enjoyed the reaction guys!👍❤️
My favourite ABBA Song ❤️
