It’s very comforting to know that Gibson is now in the hands of true lovers of our art/love/heart! Just a few short years ago it was looking like we were gonna lose Gibson forever! The future is looking good for Gibson!!
As a lifelong Gibson fan, nothing has made me more excited about Gibson's future than seeing Cesar, James, Mark, and others at the helm. People who truly love and care about Gibson, not just the bottom line. Thank you for all you're doing.
I'm starting to feel this too. It's taken me a while, because it's really a gigantic road block for me, but I get turned off really easy by the "corporate" lingo. A man was hired to help grow my father's business grow who talked all that talk like "growing the brand", "bringing things to the table", he ran our 45 year family business into bankruptcy and we all lost just about everything. he stole from us under the guise of spending what it takes to make more money, ultimately over a 5 year period he flew all over the country taking friends out to eat and driving really nice cars and staying in 5 star hotels every trip, never made one deal and not one meeting with any of the big corporations happened. So when I hear a lot of that chit chat about the Gibson BRAND, it's nauseating. I get it, and I'm really easing up on how Gibson is talked about in this regard because as you stated it, it's refreshing to see how these guys love and care for Gibson without mentioning profit or the bottom line constantly. I have the hopes that the new president, JC, can keep the corporate talk in the board room. Thing is, we all get that it's a business and it needs to show profit but when I watch videos about guitars, amps, pedals, etc. etc, I could care less about all that. It's just not the appropriate time. I've never picked up any of my Gibson Les Paul's and thought "At least the brand is in profitable territory now", I'm running chords and melodies in my head that I want to finish a song with. Long rant, I know. I needed to get that off my chest, your comment spurred a few thoughts.
But the bad thing is the guitars are still shit! I recently purchased a SG special, the nut was terrible and the bridge P90 was microphonic. So how much better have they gotten?
@@carsonmaertz8755 bro what? Kfir is one of the best in the world no doubt about it. Kfir and vanai t are some of the best ive ever seen at transposing vocals into guitar notes. It's a beautiful thing.
The Gibson brand president is a huge Black Sabbath fan and It all started when he was a kid with Black Sabbath one and a Spanish acoustic guitar.. that is the Absolute Coolest Thing I could ever hear 👍👍👍
Not only that, but I've seen him jamming with the guys from Megadeth and he can hang with Tornado of Souls and so on. No matter who you are... if you can hang with those guys, you're a guitarrist. And he was genuinely having FUN.

Another exceptional episode. I wasn't sure that this one would be as interesting as the collections of known players. But, it made me really glad that Gibson ( a company that I truly love) is in this man's hands.
I hate to think how he would bastardize each and every one of these guitars before he jacks the prices up on them and puts them all on Reverb. I wouldnt let that dude near my guitars. Especially not with a screwdriver. No, trogly. You don't need to take apart every single guitar you handle. Smh. The dude is a joke IMO. Hes a guitar have-er. Not a guitar player. You know what I mean. The tuners could be in their original positions with screws in their original positions and hell take it all out, pile it up, and just put anything back anywhere. Dude has zero respect for vintage guitars whatsoever. He just sees them as money making opportunities.
Proof is in the product. Recently purchased 2 SGs from the original collection. And wow some of the best guitars I’ve ever played. So glad to see Gibson guitars being run the way it should be. Bringing respect back to the brand. So excited to see what the future holds under this leadership. Great work.
I own one old Gibson LG-O acoustic made in 1958 and it is a great, vibey old guitar. That old Goldtop with PAFs with all of the checking and some fading into that green color…..I’ll bet that guitar has some stories to tell. Thank you Cesar for opening your home to us and showing us these beautiful pieces of history. What a collection! And it is obvious that you love rock music and the artists that have made it great. I bought and paid for my first Gibson in late 2016 and got it around March of 2017. It's a 2017 Gibson SG Standard and I still play it today. It was slightly before the new ownership, but it still plays as great as the day I got it. Looking forward to the day I get my second Gibson.
I love that Cesar is equally into acoustics as well as electrics , I also have the same passion for acoustics , the acoustic sound is so pure and the electric sound is so purely ELECTRIC !! HAW !!
I really admire Cesar for basically saving Gibson. He has such a unique sense of the rich history of Gibson. I visited Gibson many times and I must say this last trip was truly special and something I always expected before going in. I just think he modernized the Gibson brand and gave it stability while continuing to pay tribute to the past. He's doing what a lot of us would have did with the opportunity and maybe better because he legit cares about the company, it's people and the instruments they make. Ive been blessed to play a few burst les pauls and I can honestly say the new custom shop stuff is as close to those guitars as Ive ever played.
The routing for the inlays on the 59’ burst at 21:21 tells you everything you need to know about these things. They were not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Amazing when people complain about minute details and errors on modern American and custom shop models when in reality the most coveted guitars that they are based on were full of imperfections, there were no master builders in the 50s and 60s just guys building instruments. Luckily though they seemed to get the most important thing right back then, the sound.
I think having Cesar as a new CEO will drive Gibson in the right path. A knowledge of guitar nerd with the company as a fantastic tool. Sadly, when the Gibson guitar is getting nearer to the right path to the history that made em great, the price for it is getting it further from us, the real fans 🙏💪🤘

Hi Cesar . God bless you! You are the ONE Gibson boss since.... so many times! Thanks to all the great team at Gibson. and for the greeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaat work that's made !!! in Orville's name
Like everyone else has said. It’s so good to see Gibson finally in the hands of true players. Now if they could just get prices a little better. I make $100k a year and even for me, paying damn near $10k for an R9 is insanity.
Got me my first proper Gibson recently and I'm infatuated ! Gibson Sg standard! Also I really appreciate the fact that the new president of Gibson is also a guitar nut! Probably why their quality has improved significantly throughout the Gibson and Epiphone stuff over the last five years.
Gibson has really been killing it since Cesar took over. I've got a couple from 2015/16 and 3 I've bought in the past year and there's a huge difference(not that the others were bad, some of the best guitars I've played). Now hopefully he just brings back the LP Supreme and Custom to the Gibson USA line so I can sleep at night.
My second guitar ( first guitar I bought myself ) was either a 79’ or 80’ SG. I saved up my money for a year, I was 14 or 15 years old. I walked into Mannies in Manhattan and bought an Ivory / cream white SG with the small black pick guard. To this day I regret selling it. Hoping this color comes back as an option on the Standard line. It’s good to see the company is being ran by guys that love everything about it 🤙
Am surprised they do not mention "weight" as it is a very important component of the Les Pauls and their individual tones. I have owned probably 25 plus later 50's Customs and most are 9.5 lbs to 11 lbs. I recently bought a '59 and it weighs under 8.5 lbs, the lightest one I have ever seen. It sounds heads and tails over every other one I've heard. Even ECs 58 that I played on a gig one night did not come close to this one. Has to be the weight dimension? Thank you Cesar! Great program Senior...
I have personally played 4 or 5 real deal 1959 bursts, all great guitars, of course, but I have to say, the 1959 60th anniversary I bought for myself, plays and sounds as good if not better than the originals, I just love it ! Amazing guitar ! I think they got it right starting in 2013, I played a reissue “Happy Jack” and that’s when I knew, they have finally nailed it !
@@vladimirpoutine7522 I thought the burst ledgers were lost, they left them behind at the original building I heard, and they have since gone missing! They offered a reward for them a while back of like $60.0000!
@@S-T-E-V-E My bad you are 100% correct. I miscommunicated my point. The modern ledgers(post-1961) is posted on the forum. The ledger for all guitars built during the burst years is a modern record of all known bursts with pictures(is what I meant to say).
I can't afford any of the vintage stuff, but I recently purchased a Standard 50's AAA top Les Paul from Sweetwater and I absolutely love it. My first Gibson but it won't be my last. My next purchase will be a Gibson Custom Murphy Lab. I think that will be the one that get's buried with me.
I really like that in these documentaries the brand is taking an interest in music, instruments rather than presenting its products. I wanted to comment on this in a video by Dwezeel Zappa where Fenders also appeared. Now they also introduce a piano and this is really something very nice from the brand.
I just want to scream as I struggle to save for my first Les Paul. So happy this guy is driving Gibson into the future and loves its past. Arrrrgggggg!

I love the way this seamlessly turned into a hour long commercial for your new releases. Yeay!
Got me my first proper Gibson recently and I'm infatuated ! Gibson Sg standard! Also I really appreciate the fact that the new president of Gibson is also a guitar nut! Probably why their quality has improved significantly throughout the Gibson and Epiphone stuff over the last five years.
Awesome collection plus the passion just makes it even better, thanks for sharing
I think I just heard Trogly choke on his coffee. What a great collection. Thank you for making this.
2 guys definately passionate about guitars! great to see despite the hate going on in the comments, DEEP BREATH BROS!
Best Collection video ever!!!
It’s good to see the company is being ran by guys that love everything about it 🤙
This is awesome guys thank you! 😎🤟🏾
Wow. What an incredible interview! I love Cesar's passion for guitars (especially Gibson), and he's someone that Gibson has needed for a while now.
I cant watch this video and not get jealous of all those beautiful guitars in the background
Cool👍✔《☆》I haven't seen Mark since his last Tele Tuesday at Norman's Rare Guitars🖖😎🏈
Why aren't the Gibson Ledgers online for everyone to access and pour over? Come on guys, do the guitar world a solid!
Agreed !
They were on a Les Paul forum at one time. With pictures of all the associated recorded burst from the 50's and 60's.
Counterfeiters
being a les paul player for some 45 years now with my first being a 76 les paul standard tobacco burst, i love this show. Cesar how do i get another
That 67 Pelham is truly stunning! She is Beautiful!
JC and Cesar care . That makes a huge difference !
Cesar, I like your helmsmanship of the company
Your taking the company into the 21st century without losing the traditions that made Gibson great 👍🏻
Amazing collection! Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for the USA AJ line. Hopefully we get a USA LP Custom Silverburst, too!
They guy loves guitars. This is great to see! ❤
Absolutely awesome. Surprise guests too. Rock on. Nice job Mark.
Really enjoyed this - Thanks guys
This episode was incredible!
I really like that in these documentaries the brand is taking an interest in music, instruments rather than presenting its products. I wanted to comment on this in a video by Dwezeel Zappa where Fenders also appeared. Now they also introduce a piano and this is really something very nice from the brand.
I love these instruments . They all sound incredible
as i recently converted Gibson lover i agree!👍 Just got a 2022 60's standard and it is blowing me away with how great it plays and sounds!
I just want to scream as I struggle to save for my first Les Paul. So happy this guy is driving Gibson into the future and loves its past. Arrrrgggggg!
Marc is the best "everymans" dream player and Historian. Gibson has made it through hurricane winds and tornadoes! Amazing company!
Mad respect for Cesar he really know his Craft and is passionate about it, the instrument and the music, has some Steve Jobs vibes as well, I know Gibson it's in good hands with guys like Mark and Cesar! Be safe guys and good job!
Lots of very expensive beautiful guitars but I wished they played them all for us, mere mortals, to have a glimpse of how they SOUND...
