Hello Sammy G
Yeah dude this totally made my day!
So true! Been waiting way too long for this xD
Yoo word up
Les pauls are just something I will never get rid of.
I love that GIbson approaches these from a fan point of view and features various brands, it's not just a big Gibson commercial.
A cool guitar is a cool guitar
The problem is Gibson signs deals with scum in Australia who don't buy any Randy Rhoads Les Paul's for any Australian customers.

Compared to Eddie Van Halen, who throws guitars in the back of his pick up truck with no case... nice!
After all these years I still love his energy. His personality is addictive. So talented.
He’s certainly got an addictive personality
Really? My opinion on him has kind of changed over the years. I always saw him as the cool one cause Axl was such a dick but he’s become kind of a carpetbagger. The signature Slash eds double neck? Is Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and Don Felder all dead. The Söash Les Paul Junior? Did he look at one once or something? I get it from Gibson‘s point of view. If they determine a Slash Junior would sell better than a Leslie West Junior than that’s what they’re gonna do. It’s on Slash to kind of have some shame. The guy will put his name on anything for a few bucks, plugs stuff constantly whenever he talks. I find him offputting at this point.
@@michaelpacinus242 Reading his biography, I decided to never try oxycontin. After 20 years of heroin he described it as the best thing he'd ever experienced and as he hsd gotten a pace maker he realised he could take huge amounts of it and if he OD'd the pace maker would just restart the heart. I think after the third one was installed his doctor had long talk with him and since then he's laid off a little on the heavy opiates.

Pretty cool Gibson acknowledged the “Reproduction “ Les Pauls that are so integral to Slash’s history. Also showing off the BC Rich’s . Really cool of Slash to give Joe Perry his Burst back. That must’ve been a tough thing to do. But kudos to Slash for being a stand up guy. 🤘🏻
This show has always been pretty good about showing guitars that weren't their brand, or off brand, if you will.
I loved that he talked about and showed the Travis Bean. Those things are awesome. but hardly acknowledged.
Slash having Joe's burst is well documented. If you look at older interviews with Slash and Joe, it turns out Joe asked Slash for it back multiple times, even offered cash for it, but Slash didn't for one reason or another, to the point where Joe stopped asking otherwise it would ruin their friendship. But yeh, Slash did eventually gift it to him which was really nice of him as Joe is his hero, but it wasn't a simple case of Slash acquiring it and heading straight to Joe's house to give it him.
KRIS DERRIG, AMEN.
@@kineasx I recall reading somewhere many years ago that Slash was invited to Joe's birthday (50th?) but couldn't make it. Instead he sent Joe's Burst back to him.

This guy single handedly brought Les Paul back from the dead in the 80s and 90s. He shoud have a monument in the hall of the Gibson’s HQ!

What a fantastic session. I had no idea Slash was so humble. I didn’t see one guitar that was “beat up”. These instruments were played to the max! Paul McCartney said it takes 3,000 hours to perfect playing an instrument. I can’t imagine how many hours Slash has in. Hopefully before my time is up, I’ll own a LesPaul of my own. Thanks, loved the guitar show.

Slash got that raw talent, barely in his 20s when they created the appetite album, I could barely tie my shoes when I was 20
I'm not even a Slash or GNR fan, but I really enjoyed this tremendously. He seems like a genuinely chill guy who loves guitars. And the host, thank god wasn't annoying and knew how how to keep things rolling without being intrusive \m/
exactly what I was gonna write!
Mark is a good guy. So is Slash.
I see ur also a fellow Backslash M foreword slasher
I'm surprised that he prefers a Floyd over Kahler given the fact his main guitars are Les Pauls and have the string angle at the bridge like a Kahler.

I just came down to tell people about looking you up, for this very reason.
I'm glad I read your comment before making my own.
I was going to comment this because I just watched your video yesterday!
The little duel thing he did with Gilby on the Use your Illusion tour that then turned into Wild Horses is one of my all time favorite guitar parts. Slash used the double neck SG for that, too.
Mark is so great. His knowledge about everything is beyond anyone but he isn't boastful about it. He doesn't try to prove he's smart; just confident in his abilities and his appreciations are pure
The fact that Slash just hands them over to Mark when he takes them out says a lot about how generous and genuine Slash is. He's more than obviously a man who values people more than any material things of this rotten world. God bless you and yours, dear brother Saul(Slash). God bless you Mark. Gibson has a true loyal spokesman and guitar enthusiast in you my dear brother. I really enjoy your whole "The Collection" series. Especially when you went to Nerdville East with Joe B!💜☺👍

29:15 *FINALLY* the guitar I have wanted to see up close and have him talk about for what has felt like a century.
Thank you so much for this Gibson and our best regards to Mark. For the guitar/techies out there... There is still a lot of mystery here and a cult following with that red Mockingbird. I've been studying that guitar for 31 years ever since it was first seen in the 1991 "You Could Be Mine" video with Arnold at The Ritz.
Slash says here it came with a Floyd Rose when he bought it. I remember very clearly though reading an interview with him during the Use Your Illusion Tour that when he first bought it, it had a Khaler tremelo and that he had someone route the body out to modify it for a Floyd Rose. It was a big deal for all the teenage shredders at the time to see him with a guitar other than a Les Paul at the time and all of a sudden BC Rich was popular again. Out of all the great knowledge and questions Mark has (we love you Mark) he didn't have Slash clear up the long-standing mystery as to whether or not this Mockingbird with Floyd Rose here is in fact the same Mockingbird that originally had the Khaler that was used in the "You Could Be Mine" video with Arnold. It's not just me either...
There are so many Slash and BC Rich fans who have wanted to see Slash authorize an exact replica of that guitar. A lot of people say in these online guitar forums say "BC Rich already has one and it's called the 'SL' model." That 'SL' model though is nowhere close to his. Too many specs to list, just for one though, his has a maple neck, not Mahagony.
Same
That guitar is so cool
All I know is if I ever get a bc rich mockingbird if it doesn’t have a floyd rose I’m gonna put one on it
It looks cooler with it
I’m a LP guy so I’m completely drooling over that dark burst 59’, but that cream Firebird is the one that really got my attention.
How could you not love Slash, seems like such a cool guy, and by all accounts he is.
Love how he beats the crap out of his guitars on stage, but gingerly handles them taking them out and putting them back in their cases.

Guitars are racist. Rock music belongs to black people and was stolen from them. It’s important the we are ‘born again’ and instate a black-centric culture that corrects the inequities of the past… even if it means you have to give up things you enjoy… like playing guitar. Again, all guitar playing is racist.

One of my biggest influences ever. I was absolutely obsessed with Slash as a young player and to this day, I think he's one of the most unique or the most unique rock n roll guitarist on the planet. He is nobody but himself in his sound and compositions. Through studying music more as I've gotten older I am even more blown away today by his solos and compositions - how everything he does serves the song perfectly... His tone, his unique vibrato, his blend of classical sounds with blues. When he released the solo Slash album with the guest singers, I was absolutely blown away by those songs as instant rock classics. So cool. Nobody sounds like Slash! great video!
Well said 👏👏
Slash,is God when he plays. Mr. Brown stone,is just dirty nasty, sexy sound.
That's my favorite album of his! Versatility for days!
I 100% agree with everything you said. I was really confused when I saw Rolling Stone put him either #64 or #65 on their list of top 100 guitarists of all time. And I scrolled through the list of panelists and many of them are famous guitarists so he's being ranked by his peers. I'm not saying he should have been number one but at least in the top 20 I would think.
This is so cool
I remember sitting in the school library in the early 90's trying to find little snippets in magazines about these guitars. And here they all are in HD. So cool.
Brutal man this made my day :D Slash is not only guitar player but he is expert in guitars he knows everything about them, he know how to choose guitar and how to listen that guitars to hear the smallest and finest tone of guitar. I would like to meet him and walk through his guitar and amp collection and hear his playing with that guitars.
Fantastic deep dive, might be the best ever due to the artist (Slash) being so open to talk and discuss all his guitars. Slash is so damn well spoken, has a story and specific details/likes as to why with each instrument. I purchased my Gibson when I was 18 over 25 years ago due to Slash playing one, and I still love my standard Gibson - love it.
You can tell that compared to other interviews, Slash really wants to talk about these. He's excited and comfortable and opens up in a genuine way.
Slash is genuinly a great guy, an inspiration for all us us guitar players, and in my opinion the last of the real guitar heroes. The thing I love the most is that he keeps getting better with the years, his guitar playing nowadays is insane and the Conspirator records are up there with any of the early Gnr, as Snakepit or Velvet where too. Great episode and fuking great collection!! Keep em coming!

I was 15 when I first saw videos of Slash playing these amazing guitars. Thats the reason i went and bought a cheap one and started learning. Now im 30, can play all my favorite songs and I have had so many good moments and memories just because of those videos, Slash and these Gibsons. I feel like an old man but great.
Loved this. Great way to spend a Sunday morning. Peace and love Slash and Mark xx
Thanks for this interview. Really interesting for us (the ones who love Slash and play guitar).
That comment about his desert island guitar must have melt some faces at Gibson :D Mark and team, thank you so much for making this series to happen, it's one of those things that's so good to be a rock and roll fan nowdays. Cheers
That was EPIC!! Thanks for doing this!! I was mesmerized for a solid hour!!
I was waiting for him to show his first gold top les Paul because he played it with the king of blues bb king! It was so cool seeing that guitar again he plays guitar so extremely well I love just closing my eyes and listening to him play! It was fun watching these guys get real professional at the beginning and then just getting really nerdy around his collection at the end. Glad I found this channel!
Damn huge respect for asking Slash about his BC Rich guitars on a Gibson channel. They're super cool guitars in their own right.
/ just brought it up. But then did you notice the edit right after that, just before he would have talked about that Les Paul copy that he had made, they jumped over to jessica.
@@216trixie yeah but they also talked extensively about the derrig guitar, which is his 59 replica... So 🤷???
And the Fender.
Gibson does the same in other interviews too. Integrity.
Something tells me we could do 5 more episodes with slash’s collection lol
Ps I would watch them all
love to see this, grew up listening to Slash and is the reason why i play guitar today, such a humble man!
Thanks Gibson! This was the best Collection episode by far. I really enjoyed this.
Love companies that show off other brands and show their appreciation for them instead of looking at them as a competitor. Gibson will always be my favorite!
he’s the reason why i started playing guitar, Thank You Slash 🎸
I met Slash at a coffee shop in L.A. years ago. I used to frequent this coffee shop when I was living in that area at the time, and somebody was sitting at the table that was my favorite place to sit (it was right next to the outlet.) At first I was like "Somebody's sitting in my favorite spot" and I look over at him. I saw his shaggy hair first, then his beard, and then his bracelets and watch (it was a nice one too.) I processed everything and looked at him and said "Slash?" (The only thing I could think of to say at the moment.) He smiled and said "Yeah...?" I said "Hey, I'm a big fan." He said "Thanks" and I shook his hand and went to buy my coffee. Never know who you will run into buying coffee.
Thank you, great contribution.
I'll make myself a fresh coffee right away 👍💯
Mark you are such a legend - thanks for doing this.
I thought for sure they would avoid other brands and I love that they shined a light on B.C. Rich. The Mockingbird is fantastic.
