I think it must be a sign of underwatering/low humidity. I have a small adansonii which a year ago got one slightly yellowed leaf with a bit of brown crisp on the end of it. upped the watering + chopped off the leaf & now my plant is fully green, no yellowing or scarring etc. I think it needs a little more water in the winter than you might think :)

Thank you! This video was quite a challenge and we had a lot of fun making it so really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! Its winter so I am not expecting much to happen. good news is that it hasn't continued to yellow, its most likely i under watered it and maybe it needed more nutrients. Will post another update when I see things turn around. a lot of my plants are not happy about winter...

I've had the same problems with bottom leaves yellowing, despite letting the plant thoroughly dry out between watering. I don't see any sign of insects. I just took it out of the nursery pot and realized that the pot had very poor drainage. I drilled about 25 holes in the nursery pot so hopefully this fixes the problem!

I have two. It took me awhile to get the leaves to stop yellowing. They really prefer medium light, despite what the internet says. Medium light, ignore this plant untill it's mostly dry, then water thoroughly and don't water again untill it's almost completely dry. Ignore it and it will grow like a weed. Mine just grows up the macrame hanger strings and across the ceiling. They want to climb.

i mean, heres the thing. ALOT of shops sell them improperly miss named. there is many many many monstera species that mimic adansonii. tbh if you didnt know any better would just say adansonii or the cringy "swiss cheese" and not saying you dont know this, but! ALLmay have different light requirements and humidity. some NEED bright indirect while others may hiss at it. some like lots of humidity while others dont, i have one thats dark and felty and HATES being wet on the leaves. i have quite a few species myself that were miss labeled and tbh its kind of a bonus xD but ID'ing them is a pain sometimes.

My Adansonii has had a moss pole for a while, it shot up very quickly when I first put the moss pole in and it went a bit leggy and had large long stems with gaps where leaves should be. Luckily it has filled out over time and I even took cuttings from the top to prop and put back in to fill out the bottom of the plant which helped a lot. It was one of my first houseplants besides succulent and cacti so it has a special place in my heart, even if it's super common.

That was a great video. I'm new to this video but so glad I found it (3 years later). My Monstera Adansonii isn't too happy with me right now. I got thrips (thanks to another plant) and although it doesn't appear to have anything right now, it's definitely mad at me. Some leaves are turning pale/yellow like yours and I have 1 stem that is growing but no leaves are sprouting. I've been waiting to spring to re-pot it but I may have to intervene before then. Anyone with any suggestions on how I can keep thrips away and care for this Monstera Adansonii please let me know. This new plant parent welcomes the help!

I had this problem with the adansonii and deliciosa. I tried everything and nothing worked, then I started misting them daily. That was it, they were lacking humidity in my house because my outdoor Monstera was doing great. I’m careful to not over water and I make sure to mist daily, if not, every other day. I’m finally not killing my indoor monsteras.

Yeah, i think thats why mines goes brown tips too. and it's going to stay that way now! Arg! When you repot it, add more drainage to counter your overwatering. I have started to do that with a few of mines, adding more bark and perlite.

I can't figure out for the life of my what is wrong with them! at first, i thought it was just stress from the shipping but its been a few days now and it hasn't recovered too much. what should i do : ( I was so excited to get this plant but its my saddest one so far.

You didn't talk about the compost mix enough, theres no way of being able to determine why you get yellow leaves without that vital piece of information

@@BotanicalWoman Try adding less perlite or bark to your mix if you're unable to feed the plant when desired

  • @Drainman

Try not to use straight tap water because the Chlorine will do that to the leaves also you have so many roots so maybe a bigger pot .So Just let your tap water stay in an open bottle exposed to the air for a couple of days and the Chlorine will be gone.

@@BotanicalWoman If you have tried everything else then look into iron deficiency as that also causes many plants to yellow on their leaves I use Milorganite fertilizer which comes from the sewage treatment plant in Michigan That has four percent Iron Stereate and you can use it on everything and anything and it will never burn any plant.Just make sure you put it under the soil because it will smell once it gets wet.Sounds gross right. But its been around for decades.

@@BotanicalWoman thank you for the info, because to buy water with TDS around 50 is cheaper, than water with TDS 100 here. Ooh i read at another article, that overwatering can make monstera adansonii leaves yellowing too.

you're right, that a large pot like this one with only one drainage hole isn't idea. so you amendment the medium to assist with additional drainage like perlite, charcoal, bark etc. its all about finding a happy balance
