    Put on your headphones and crank up the second half!
    Hey all. Bit of a different video. No talking. Only one sentence through the whole video. I chopped it up, and only showed what I needed to. So...for those of you that dont enjoy my babbling...this is for you!
    First half is just some install footage, and some cut out sound clips. Second half is some excerpts from a short drive I took it on just for fun. So if you arent interested in seeing the cut out being bolted on, and see some under car shots of it working, skip about halfway!
    Thanks for watching!

    I remember my Dad took me to a friend of his in the late 70's. In this man's garage was a primered grey 55 Chevy with a 454 dual quad set up! After the headers came cut outs that worked pulling a cable under the dash. The differents in the sound was awesome! He pulled out on the black top in front of his house and showed us the difference. I can still see the smoke from the tires and the deafing sound from that car. What a rush it was! Shawn

    Great video and a great job 👍🏼! I only have one question though, when it’s closed is there any issue with the air flow or back pressure because of the closed pit or will the air be able to travel normally? Thanks!

    • @rvlifestylelivin
      @rvlifestylelivin Рік тому

      you are adding a "Y" pipe to the exhaust preferably just before the catalytics(may cause an engine code when running open but it means nothing just epa crap). one leg of the 'Y" pipe will have the exhaust cutout so it will exhaust normally unless you open the exhaust cutout then it will run open exhaust with no restriction.

  • @valflyinf
    @valflyinf 7 років тому +4

    Hi dude nice setup. I want to install a setup where I can open the cutouts however much I feel, not just fully open or fully close. What is involved in doing that?

    • @DannySauer
      @DannySauer 6 років тому +6

      valflyinf I have two cars with that setup. It doesn't work the way you'd expect. As you start opening it, the noise comes in almost immediately (after briefly sounding like a crappy exhaust leak). The sound level is pretty much the same from about 1/4 open to full open.

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  5 років тому +1

      I both agree and disagree. The one I have can be opened to any position. Its a momentary button so if you just tap it, it just budges. First tap, sounds like crap. 2-3 taps and I feel like it sounds pretty decent. There is DEF a difference between 1/3 open to full open. At least on my car. Fully open is obnoxiously loud. I rarely ever open it up all the way.

Normally I use them just to get the car up high enough to get a jack under it, then I use jack stands. But for oil changes or things like this, I just reach. My head wouldnt even fit under the car on those ramps haha.

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  6 років тому +3

      I agree with you. 10-30 is what I expect to see on the dyno. Then again, my exhaust is extremely free flowing as it is, so it might not pick up too much.

      Hi Ari. I actually never realized how bad they were until this video. They are factory seats from a 2002. I didnt really worry about them snapping, but they certainly moved too much and didnt offer any head support. So I put Sparco's in for now. I dont love them, but they're solid, sit lower, and are way more supportive. Im lacking in videos...so you'll see them if you check back once I get back on the ball!

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  7 років тому +4

      Lots of people have done back to back runs with the cutout open or closed. It makes a bigger difference then you would think especially in the higher RPM range. Exact figures will depend on a lot of factors. How well your motor wants to breathe, etc. For instance, my car breathes pretty well even with the cut out closed. But I still saw a 15 rwhp difference on my old build with the motor running like crap. People have seen more than that.

    I have exhaust cutout myself... Loving the power n sound

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  7 років тому

      You will see a gain cut out open vs closed on some set ups. If your motor is a fire breather, opening the exhaust will gain you some. You might only see it on a dyno sheet, but I have seen it make a pretty big improvement at the top end.

      i have dyno tuned my motor with GT28 turbo. While the cutout closed it made 254hp, and 270 when opened.

    I want to know more about the car... That's definitely not a tuned port

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  7 років тому +1

      There are a bunch more videos on my channel :) And technically..it is kind of a tuned port. LS1 intake has a plenum with runners. They're just packaged a little differently than the old TPI :) At least thats what I tell people when I surprise them with the car haha.

    Have you gotten this dyno'd yet?

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  7 років тому +2

      No sir. If I can scrape up enough extra money, and I dont end up having to sell the car, I plan to have it dyno tuned in the spring. For now, she's going to sit. No time and no money to fix the couple of things it needs, and with winter moving in, it's just better to leave it alone for a bit.

    Does it make the low point of your car lower? i'm worried about breaking it off on a speed bump?

      Haha...yeah. I knew it was loose...but never realized how bad til the car started making power and I took some video. Since this video got so much attention, I've watched it a few times. I think its going to be my next major change for the car. There might be some goal changes with her....they might involve race tracks....might be time to get serious. :)

      Lmao it was like your in car version of a Lazyboy chair the only downside to it is you can't crack a can of beer open whenever your thirsty bummer aye hahaaa sounds wicked though. I wouldn't mind getting something similar installed into my legnum. Hve you got an email i can contact you with buddy?

      Lmao the beer compartment does wonders for the comfort I would love a lazy boy they just seem like they would take the space where 2 people could sit. Typical english shoe box houses i don't think helps matters. I mail you buddy cheers
