- This Morris Marina coupe had been hidden away in a barn for decades, but when we finally got it out, things quickly went downhill. Two blown tyres, two buckled wheels, amongst other things!- it’s turned into a restoration nightmare! Join me as I attempt to bring this coupe back to life. Will we be able to save it and get it back on the road, or is it beyond repair? Watch the full episode to find out!

I love these. My first road-legal car was a Morris Ital 1.7 SLX saloon that my dad gave me because it was right at the end of its useful life. Nautilus blue with a cream vinyl roof.
Don’t use the glass filter they always end up leaking. It nice to see a old Marina still in one piece😎👍
Yes you can sue the local council for the damage caused to your vehicle due to pot hole. Write a letter with photo including rule showing for of pot hole. They will fob you off, but persist. I know they'll pay eventually, I used to work in the department that dealt with such claims..
Great work Ben!
Nice colour marina.. I had 1.3 coupe in burgundy back in the day..1983.
I had issues with my Vectra estate last week I just mot it.. cost me a bit too much..Its one of the last estate Vectra made its SRI/CDTI 1.9..
Bought a 58 plate back 6 years to get my courier work started. Brilliant car ex mini cab around Walsall took me nearly everywhere..
Do you own your own trailer..? I want to buy one a double wheel type Hence my Vectra estate.. but I then bought a 3.0 litre Range Rover Vogue 55 plate lush car.
Great to see you back with another interesting video Ben. I love Marinas
As it is MOT (road fund) exempt, you could have asked the MOT garage to do a MOT type inspection, then taxed it and done them at your leisure. 😀
Loved my 1800 TC. Great car. Far too much oil. Sump bigger than the fuel tank just about
Great to see another one driving again.. Great video and nice to see you back.
What a great looking honest car. What a beaut.
we had those things in Australia , with an e series 2.6 6cylinder fitted , the Marina Red Six ! , couple of the local lads uprated them of course , porting the head fitting triple SU's and tuned exhaust power went from 90 kw to about 140 , a must was to fit a Pedders suspension kit on the front which meant the car would now go and handle like it should have from the factory , but it came in too late to save BL Australia , shame about that
The bright pink one on the cover of the Jan 74 edition of Wheels magazine looked mint
@@phillcc8524 Aussies always knew how to do 70's saloon cars right. I love that look. Proper engines, beefed up suspension, bright colours, spoilers etc. Ace.
Yeh, I have one now.
Lovely car. 😊
Make sure the screw together filter stays screwed together, saw more than one engine fire with those, use good quality throw away filter, keep it as far away from the exhaust manifold as possible, my late uncle had a four door TC I did some welding and blowing in, Green Mallard, later he had an Italian estate, I put two new wings on it and did the paint to make it look nice
I’d bin the glass filter. Notorious for coming loose and leaking. Get Bosch inline filters from ecp, search 1.0 mk2 fiesta 👍
Great video mate and a very interesting project.
A coupe...in black tulip 😍
Great video Geoff looked good
Great video, good to see you back here again. Thats an excellent looking car, I do love a Black Tulip coupe.
That engine looks so small Ben....pinto's fit nicely
nice to see you back 👍 I love all these old builds. I've always wanted to know if you buy a barn find that's tax and mot exempt do you have to get an mot before using it or can you just make it road worthy and use it straight away?
How's the TR7 front end swap coming on ?.
Yes.
Was looking for an update...
Awful clutch to bleed we used to put a piece of heater hose on the master cylinder and blow the fluid through.
Hi Ben, enjoyed your content as usual, thought id ask what is the update with the tribute car and are you going to the NEC next month. look forward to your next video.
Long door is awaiting some custom parts but I hope to have a video out before Christmas on it. Thanks for watching!
Those 5 1/2" steel wheels are they from a Triumph Spitfire?
GT6
Damn nice coupe, Ben! Is the left rear wheel buckled or loose? Looked like it coming off the trailer! Looking forward to seeing more of this one. Cheers. Leigh.
Hey mate is your spot welder single phase ? If so what brand is it
Been looking for a decent single phase machine
It is a Telwin 240v 16amp. Will do 2+2mm with ease.
Nice looking Marina, love that colour. Are those Triumph wheels?
Yes, GT6 I think.
Derbyshire near Lullington by the look of it. Yes you can claim against Derbyshire CC but they will only pay if somebody has reported the pothole over a week ago I think. You’ll only know that if people on a local FB group tell you I guess.
It used to be the case, if you reported a pothole and then subsequently damaged your car after notifying the council you could claim.
Usually council marks the whole with paint to indicate they're aware....

Dump those hideous 80’s alloys, get original steels on it
