Been a mechanic all my life by far dude you are one of the smartest dudes I've ever seen. So not trying to tell you what to do..but my thoughts on the air boat carb I noticed the choke plate is missing I think you need that resistance to make them open. Hope this helps. Great channel dude.
So the secondaries only open when the engine is cold and the choke plate is in the way? And then when the engine is warm and the choke is open, the secondaries won't open?
I graduated in 1992. Everyone had a 5.0 mustang. Iroc z28 was my favorite! Love that car❤ That one is definitely a keeper. Want to see alot more of this one!
You are by far my favorite mechanic channel to watch. I really appreciate how you set up your shop and trucks. It's so satisfying when you need something and you have the tools/equipment ready or just pop open a drawer full of bulbs or stainless bolts ect. Anyway wish yall the best and keep up the good work.
Your story about slamming it in reverse at speed reminded me: Years ago I was driving an 18ft cab over type box truck down a country road at about 55mph, my 2 coworkers next to me were just out of high school and would get anxious on long trips and start being annoying. The guy in the middle would get up and turn around in the cab kind of dancing or antsy spaz. That day he decided to do just that and knocked the shifter into reverse at 55mph, fastest deceleration of my life into an Instant stop almost featuring huge blue cloud of rubber smoke (and probable transmission fluid) along with a sound I cannot describe like a screaming machinery banshee and burnout sound. I looked over at that kid and said "If this truck doesn't go into drive and shift all the gears, you're calling the owner of the company (who was a real hothead) Anyway, excellent videos-I never miss them
@@athuldev5307 Ha! Glad you asked: We got out in the middle of this 2 lane road and examined the engine and trans area real quickly and only noted a fine mist of trans fluid which was bizarre, got back in quickly as I was blocking a lane on a 55mph road (albeit seldom travelled) Threw it into drive and away we went, everything seeming good and all gears. The followup though: a couple weeks later that trans catastrophically failed in epic fashion on the highway. That kid was my buddy and a hard as worker on a tough job so I never told the owner, and that truck was never right after that either as I dropped 7 more transmissions over the next few more years I drove it.
I am 76 now but in my 20s we would put a screw in the Holley linkage slot so the primaries would drag the secondaries open. doing so would at least let you see if opening all 4bbls helps or hurts performance. See vid by Big Beaver Slayer-Holley Vac Sec to Mech Sec trick. Enjoy all your vids and your attitude. Hope the baby straightens out soon but some take a while. You three take care.
My algorithms been giving me more car repair videos and most of them are good guys that do good work. I really enjoyed seeing him go the extra mile to not spend money most of the guys always just you know replace parts immediately. Reminds me of some of my days trying to keep my old F body running. My uncle was a mechanic and I take it to him and he knew I had no money so he would always try to fix whatever was wrong with little techniques like he did in this video.
Glad to hear the baby is doing well. Our 2nd daughter didn’t sleep all night until she was 3. Our son is now 2 and still doesn’t sleep all night. But we wouldn’t trade them for anything, it’s all worth it. Enjoy every minute with her!
When my son was born, we took him home the first night. My wife and I woke up in the night and my son was gone. We could not believe it. Gone. How? What happend was that he slipped into the gap between our matresses, and slept like an off duty pilot. We found him after some time looking.
Always liked the Camaros, that one has a lot of potential. Good luck with it. Glad to hear everyone is doing good with Mom and baby. Thanks for the warning on the load noise from the air boat. I have hearing aids and it's not good when something comes in like that...
I'm very familiar with the ubiquitous 3rd gen as back in 1990 I purchased an '84 that had been involved in a front end collision that had pretty much trashed the entire front end and sub frame for $500. I proceeded to rebuild it better stronger faster. Spliced in new front sub frame and hung new fenders and louvered hood on it. Added rear window louvers, IROC frt/rr bumper covers and side skirts, IROC badging and IROC wheels. Factory suspension goodies such as: 36mm hollow front stabilizer bar, front sub frame brace(wonder bar). Quick ratio steering sector(z575). Factory PBR rear disc's, 3:23 posi and the icing on the cake, an '85 TPI 305 I built to '92 spec with a built 700r4. Loved that car.

Chris - you and Craig (and Dan!) at The Bearded Mechanic are my two most favorite UA-cam guys. You are NOT AFRAID to get dirty. You don't accept no for an answer. You don't throw money at parts unnecessarily. You're thoughtful, organized, and prepared. You're willing to take a risk. You work on the smallest of budgets. You're honest and decent. And Gus is as cute as they get. Keep doing what you do - you are an inspiration and a PLEASURE to watch - and I always look forward to your work. Mahalo!

Wow! Auto mechanics, I couldn't do it. But yet, I watch it on UA-cam. There's so much stuff to remember, so many things going on. I like this channel and Budget Builds. Thanks for your mild manners, and for this show. Oh! I like your dog, too!
That's an old trick that used to be used on trucks & tractor tires often. It's not used these days, except for instances like this. It's considered as too dangerous in today's "woke" world!
Sweet! As a collector of these cars, I would implore you (and anyone who bought the car) not to cut the floor to get to the fuel pump. There are many reasons why, and I won’t go into all of them here, except that, even after cutting the floor, you will still have to cut the hard lines that are part of the sending unit, in order to get the sender out of the tank, and there are 4 of them. Yes, dropping the tank can be a pain on these cars. It’s still worth it
I’ve got it down to about 4 hours drop and replace now after doing it twice while on the ground lifted as high as I can on jack stands. A lift would make that job a piece of cake.
A previous owner did that to my formula. I was pissed when i saw that. Eventually im going to drop it proper and replace the sender since its been cut and hacked with rubber hose
I am amazed at your mechanical knowledge and your cool laid back vibe in the midst of the most daunting appearing auto projects...and you get them all back to life with a great attitude!

Fantastic beast, mate. Love me a 3rd Gen. She goes real well for a 305, but even a 305 makes the right noises when the foot is planted and the pipes can be heard! ....and convertible life - if you are reading this and you've never driven a convertible, go do it. Take it out in the country, open the taps and you'll understand why people who own them love them so much. I've had a Triumph Stag for over seven years and although she's given me some wallet-deflating moments in that time, I cannot force myself to sell her because one trip out with the lid down and the world is so much a better place. I learned a few tricks in this video too, so it's been a total blast. All the best!

Chris, you are a master at applying geometry and working in tight spaces to navigating and backing the trailer up to that garage and then pulling the Camaro onto the trailer single-handedly!
To release the red convertible tonneau top cover you should release the back of the rear seat (fold her forward) release handle is on the passenger side and the find both tiny black metal cables on both sides of the car to release the tonneau top cover. No electric release is necessary. This is basically the back up system in case the electric release don't work.

@@javaking1000 Yea I still periodically watch some VGG but it's just a different animal and a lot of the humor is gone as well. It's still fun just not as "raw" and that's great for VGG as it's working and I wish that dude all the success along with the others.
Been a mechanic all my life by far dude you are one of the smartest dudes I've ever seen. So not trying to tell you what to do..but my thoughts on the air boat carb I noticed the choke plate is missing I think you need that resistance to make them open. Hope this helps. Great channel dude.
Appreciate the kind words. And thank you for do your thoughts on it. It's possible
I had an 87 IROC, and the squirrels would always pack acorns under the TPI runners. Great car, lots of fun.
I think the TPI is the best looking induction GM ever put on a vehicle.
But those wheels are the worst wheels GM ever made.
@@aaronb3745I take it you’ve never seen the salad shooters on the fourthgens.
The Firebird was a better looking car.
Hey do a ROCKFORD
@@aaronb3745wrong
You are by far my favorite mechanic channel to watch. I really appreciate how you set up your shop and trucks. It's so satisfying when you need something and you have the tools/equipment ready or just pop open a drawer full of bulbs or stainless bolts ect. Anyway wish yall the best and keep up the good work.
Congratulations on the new family Chris, and thank you for posting new content!
Thanks man and appreciate you tuning into the videos
Love this! My first car was a 1987 IROC-Z with the 350.
Still have mine now 28 years, 1987 5.7L
I looked over at that kid and said "If this truck doesn't go into drive and shift all the gears, you're calling the owner of the company (who was a real hothead)
Anyway, excellent videos-I never miss them
Did it go into drive and shift fine after that?
@@athuldev5307 Ha! Glad you asked: We got out in the middle of this 2 lane road and examined the engine and trans area real quickly and only noted a fine mist of trans fluid which was bizarre, got back in quickly as I was blocking a lane on a 55mph road (albeit seldom travelled)
Threw it into drive and away we went, everything seeming good and all gears. The followup though: a couple weeks later that trans catastrophically failed in epic fashion on the highway. That kid was my buddy and a hard as worker on a tough job so I never told the owner, and that truck was never right after that either as I dropped 7 more transmissions over the next few more years I drove it.
These were the bomb back in the 80s. I was more of a mustang guy. Hard to imagine a time when people wanted two door sport coupes.
Chris, you are The Man pal! What you did with the injectors, pretty darn creative pal and I would've assumed the exact same thing about the exhaust.
Enjoy every minute with her!
you sure i got a 69 charger??
I genuinely hope your hard work on the channel is allowing you to live comfortably, doing what you love and sharing it with people that don't have the means but love to see the expertise, thank you Chris aren't to many channels I look in on more than yours, glad to hear the babe and Jenn are ok looking forward to future parental updates 💪 our daughter had reflux issues it is common hope it gets better for her
I don't recall there being many convertible Camaros back in the day. So that's quite a find
That dog was having such a great time!! Love the camaro, like you said, it has some great lines...
My favorite car of all the ones you’ve done. And I learned a new term: rust jacking.
Mahalo!
My first visit to this channel Man you got that mess up and running and most important of all, all in one video! And that trick with the injectors was genius, never seen that before!!!! Now Ima go scroll through older videos
Another fabulous video, looks not too bad at all. Even so generous to help a fellow tuber with theirs. You’re a great human Chris. I really like the matte paint finish to the paint ! Need the Gus man!
Love that your rescuing this car I used to an 87 Iron-z but it was burgundy with t-ops Love the channel and all the hard work you put in.
Chris- Love the way you clean up the major 'crud' before you start wrenchin'. Other guys don't do this.
Great podcasts. Take care of Jen, the new addition to your family, and 'Gusman'.
Great video Chris. My wife actually enjoys watching these with me too which is nice. Surprised how nice it came up after just a pressure wash too.
Wow! Auto mechanics, I couldn't do it. But yet, I watch it on UA-cam. There's so much stuff to remember, so many things going on. I like this channel and Budget Builds. Thanks for your mild manners, and for this show. Oh! I like your dog, too!
Chris that tire fire trick was cool AF
That's an old trick that used to be used on trucks & tractor tires often. It's not used these days, except for instances like this. It's considered as too dangerous in today's "woke" world!
I had a 1989 Camaro z28 this brings back so many memories from high school, can't believe how good the dash board looks
One of my favorite cars. My sister’s boyfriend had one, he’d let me drive it!!! Dang I was 18 had tons of power!!!! So excited to see one!!
He needed you to get away for a min lol
@@hunterharper1891Funny you say that because I read someone else's third gen story and they said the boyfriend did the same thing for that exact reason lol
I watch VGG and found your channel...I really enjoy channels that are completely done by the individual. No camera people and nobody helping you. That's the real world and love it
Yeah, Chris, I will have to agree with a comment I seen in there. Been watching you for a few years now not only are the best mechanic. I've seen in my 60 years but you are a damn good UA-cam channel. No smoke just facts. You are one of my top three channels I'm glad you're still making videos even though you're probably exhausted from the new kiddo keep it up🤣👍🍺🍺💯🔥
Autumn is a great name. Love the car too. I knew it would sell easy.
I have been anticipating this for a few weeks! Thank Chris! Hope you and the family are doing well. Get some sleep 😴
That story at 10 minutes in . is awesome. There have been many times when you cannot duplicate a fault.
Car wasn't driven long but it needs subframe connectors immediately while the doors still close nice
Grew up at ground zero for IROC Z culture in a very Italian suburb of Northern NJ in the mid 80's. Vid brought back memories of Great times!
I haven't been here since the beginning but I've been here long enough to see you doing good and I'm glad to see it. Live the life man.
I ABSOLUTELY love this channel. It is by far my favorite car content.
Too bad you’re not keeping the IROC-Z, Chris… I was hoping you would and could restore it for continued content and our enjoyment
My sister had one in dark blue with the stripes. I loved that car… fast as lightning… for me anyway
Just made my Friday with this post!!! Cheers
Radiator hose vacuum attachment, fuel injector voltage therapy, brake line crimp removal.
Just a few common sense things I learned from Chris today. Thanks!!
Nice! I love how I lived across the street I never knew untill I saw ya standing out there and thanks for sharing channel!
Thanks
Thank you!
No problem ..... my man ....I enjoy you and Jenns WONDERFUL YOU TUBE CHANNELS .... SO CLEVER. Thanks for entertaing this canadian from nova scotia. Ps. Pat the Gusman for me ! And congratulations on the new addition to the family !!
Prayers for your daughter. Enjoy your channel
I’m praying for her if it matters
@@knightwizaed6921 it always matters🙏🏽 Amen
Wow, I learn so much from watching this channel. Thanks, Chris. Keep the rescues coming!
I had an 88 IROC Z, it was like a copper red color. It had a 350 TPI! Really my that car. Could not maintain it anymore so I traded for an 84 Toyota Supra Celica. In line 6, 5 speed! That was an awesome car too.
Supra or Celica. Two different cars.
@@andrewcobra2000 nope! Check it out. 84 Supra Celica.
@@18wheeler77 You mean Celica Supra not Supra Celica lol
@@andrewcobra2000 it’s the same thing
Another amazing video!!! Awesome seeing you work your magic.
Super nice what you did for that kid - he's got a new subscriber!
Chris, you are a master at applying geometry and working in tight spaces to navigating and backing the trailer up to that garage and then pulling the Camaro onto the trailer single-handedly!
Too bad you cut your hair woulda went good with the car 😂
Nononsensemulletknowhow
To release the red convertible tonneau top cover you should release the back of the rear seat (fold her forward) release handle is on the passenger side and the find both tiny black metal cables on both sides of the car to release the tonneau top cover. No electric release is necessary. This is basically the back up system in case the electric release don't work.
My best wishes to you and your lady wife on the birth of your daughter Autumn. Sorry to learn of her reflux problem. Please be aware of a condition with very young babies called Pyloric Stenosis. My fourth son named Steven, suffered from that condition and it was horrible. He needed surgery at age six weeks. It was a simple procedure but proved to be of life saving importance.
Incidentally, Steven is soon to be the proud father of a baby girl in January 25. To be named Grace. Making me a very proud grandfather.
BTW nice car!
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined which is probably why I find your videos extremely entertaining. I'm captivated from beginning to end and look forward to each video as it comes out. And I know posting videos is a lot of work, so kudos to you. Probably one of the only subscriptions I have that post hour long videos that I watch the entire content from start to finish. Another great and entertaining video. By the way I love Blaster products and their offerings. Great stuff.
👏👏👏
I've always liked the looks of those IROC-Zs, but they were woefully underpowered. You back that flatbed trailer like a boss, Chris!
Yep, Mustangs would put them to shame & I'm a Chevy guy.
In my 15+ years of working on cars, I’ve never heard of those injector rejuvenation tips that you’ve displayed here. I’ve always used heat to fix/manipulate things that were stubborn. Never in a hundred years, I would’ve ever guessed using extreme cold would make things work in your favor. You have my respect sir. Keep up the good work!
My youth. Brings back some memories. I worked on So many IROC camaros.
My dad had a 87-89 Camaro when I was a kid and I have always loved them for that reason. Have always wanted to have one someday
