I used to have to jump in a cold pool at 7 AM and do laps. I was in shock the rest of the day from the hypothermia (my metabolism wasn’t up for it yet at 7 AM.). Never again! 🥶
Took my first cold shower ever and let me tell you, it was not easy! But after the shower you will feel so calm and happy. I will definitely continue this.
I believe at first body is in shock and fear of dying however you can simply tell it(because you know it's true) that it is safe and what is happening is not going to harm it. It is also a great mental exercise of will to endure.
I have been taking cold showers everyday for the past 2 weeks and I can tell you my experiences. The first 10 seconds kinda takes your breath away and then you get really used to it and it feels amazing! It makes your hair smooth and your body smooth and the rest of the day you feel really energetic and wanna do things! I would definitely recommend!!!
@@lastyear2239 I don't think so. Hot water usually dries the hair while cold water makes shining hair and it helps with hair growth. Cold water is said to be way better for your hair then hot water. So far it has made my hair more smooth and less frizzy.
I started working out recently in the mornings, by the time I get home I'm still hot and sweating so I take cold showers to cool off. The feeling of a good workout and a cold shower combined is one of the greatest feelings. I'm awake, more alert, energetic and in a better mood throughout the day.
@@eddietheman8870 this is true!!! It will harm the gains after the workout. I always love cardio after weight lifting then later in the afternoon/evening throw the cold shower in to eliminate more cortisol and call it a day!🤙🏼✊🏼
If you're here for the part about losing weight: Do a plank during the cold shower. If you're already torturing yourself, you might as well double down on it.
Cold showers saved my life. Everytime I feel suicidal or depressed I take a cold shower and all the dark thoughts dissapear. I feel great rest of the day and I sleep like a baby. Edit: I can answer some questions in the comment secton below. I've been depressed since I was 17, now I'm 32. My depression did not go away but cold showers gives me a 100 x better antidepressive effect than any pills. I've tried atleast 20 different medications and nothing really works. Why I feel suicidal is because i can't feel anything, I'm catatonic and the only way out is death in my mind. Instead of lying in the bed and feeling sorry for myself I ALWAYS promise myself to take a cold shower. Why? Because when that cold water pours over me and I can feel every cell in my body then I know I'm alive. The effect maybe only last 4 hours in worst case but it usually lasts the whole day. It's the best technique I've discoverd. Combined with the wim hof method it's a life saver. My showers last between 2-5 minutes, I live in an old house in Sweden so the showers during winter time are brutal.
Mr Fylledal you’re incredible. Good for you! You’re a champion. A whole lot better than the medical crap! Keep going! Keep inspiring. Thank you hero! From NZ 😉
@@vokzz8179 usually in the morning, but I generally have a coffee first to wake up the system a little bit. I know some people have one first thing in the morning but that's pretty hard core. On days that I'm going to do exercise I just have one after that. On occasions that i don't feel up to it I incentivise myself by promising myself a hot shower in the evening as a treat.
It’s been a year now since we’ve been doing cold water immersion. One of the benefits that doesn’t get talked about a lot, but we were discussing the other day, is the mental benefit of making yourself do something that you really don’t want to do. I think there is great carry over to living life in getting better at doing uncomfortable things.
Been taking cold showers everyday for about a year. I can attest to the benefits. I don’t really feel the cold harshly at all anymore. And winter outside is more comfortable.
@@MSwobs I started out with normal showers with about 15-30 seconds of full cold at the end to finish. Did that for about a week and then got rid of hot showers and went pure cold 3-4 mins. Occasionally have a blasting hot bath in and out of cold shower. Better circulation, better moods, better skin even.
I been doing it for 3 days and it feels amazing… I’m on the path to changing my life physically, spiritually and mentally since I’m going through some health problems and a lot of stress.
I have been doing cold showers everyday (straight under the cold water) everyday this year (2022). The first 30 seconds can be tricky but after that your body gradually gets used to it. I’m finding now that after 5 mins it just feels like warm water:) I crave it and feel great after the shower.
That reminds me of the winter freeze in Texas,, I remember a pipe busted and they're ran under our house and I was getting soaked when trying to fix it and it felt warm so I didn't mind it but I take cold showers all the time. Very rarely do I take hot showers. I've been taking cold showers since I was 15 and I'm 27 now and I had no idea there were any health benefits, I just hate the heat.
Cold showers bring so many benefits from self discipline to increased muscle mass and concentration it’s mad and it’s something they don’t teach us in school along with semen retention. Anyway I just made a vid on all this and went in deep I’d appreciate if you take a look you’ll learn something great 💯💪🏽
Cold showers basically shock your entire system to run more efficiently and not be in its comfort zone. It also helps you regulate your body temperature if you feel cold all the time. (Which was perfect for me)🤓
@@andrewmeiklem5098 are you a man or are you a mouse... I'm only kidding. Yes yes, it does take your breath away, it does shock you to say the least, but the benefits.... oh the benefits...
My body does better with hot showers, except during the summer. Otherwise cold showers for me promotes imbalance in my body which means less efficient.
@@babajaiy8246 same with me. I have sinuses and mucus problem so cold shower makes me sick. Also for women,. during menstrual cycle cold shower is the worst..
Couple of tips - - Start off warm then drop temp gradually - Breath deeply when dropping temp, it takes the shock off. - Dont forget to leave on normal temp for partner :-)
@@davidwood8439 It depends on which role you have in the partnership. If they are the boss, put the temp back. If you are the boss, push them in the cold shower... it’s for their own good. 😂
I started taking cold daily shower a week ago. It benefited me in the following ways: 1. WillPower - Forcing yourself something you don’t want to do increases your mental strength 2. Energizes you - I’m always surprised how I feel really tired, but then I have all the energy I need right after cold shower 3. Save time - I typically spend less than 2-4 minutes in shower 4. Save energy - no need to run bathroom fan because there is no steam 5. Bathroom mirror won’t fog
I have been taking cold showers every day for over two years now. It's nice to know about the health benefits because I mainly adopted this practice to save over $50 a month on my electricity bill (along with stopping using my dryer and oven).
I did it for two years from summer 2019 to summer 2021, without any warm showers. I stopped because I didn't really have a reason to continue and I'm not dieting or anything lol
I'm a 30 year old guy in Ireland with multiple sclerosis. I have numbness and tingling in both hands. I recently read a study that MS patients with these type of symptoms started having big improvements and noticed the numbness and tingling started to disappear. I'm going to start having cold showers today to see how I react, happy to provide updates if anyone's interested!
Interesting to read your comment because I suffered a brain stroke abs from that my whole right side as barely any feeling and lots of tingling going on. Allot of nerve damage as well. I’m happy to hear “cold showers” helped you and again, hearing this helped you I’ll give it a shot as well.

I started taking cold showers during our heatwave and noticed a change in the softness of my skin, my hair is softer and I have more energy, I can now take only cold shower without any warm water for 10 minutes. I love it! 🙂
The first time I took a cold shower I noticed my skin’s sense of touch was very acute and reactive afterwards. It reminded me of when I was a kid, when my senses were sharp and awake.
To anyone struggling with the cold. Relax . Try not to fight against it . The key is acceptance. Your body is strong , you can deal with its affects, we’re built to deal with such conditions . Go get it
For those hyper sensitive people, I took an extremely slow approach. The first day I would just do my hands, the next day my arms, etc. I would only add what I could stand. The thing is, your body adapts over time so the body part that was sensitive today will become less sensitive tomorrow and over time my whole body was able to take the shock of the cold without any problem at all.
I'm very hypersensitive to touch and sound. I can attest to the building up of strength. I've been taking cold showers for about two almost three months and I started with dry brushing first and then I started jumping in a cold shower afterwards and it's tough, no doubt. I have to remind myself that the cold shower is literally the hardest thing I have to do because after that EVERYTHING feels manageable. I started noticing myself leaning into it more, noticably more because I take a lot longer cold showers than I used to and for the first time I actually washed my hair in the cold shower (I have a lot of hair). I still struggle to do it especially because I started in winter weather but practicing in winter will make it all the more enjoyable and rewarding come summer time. Next winter I hope to be able to do the cold immersion in a local river or lake. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to do it at least once this winter... 💁
I have been taking cold showers every evening since March 14th. The first two times, my immune system was triggered, and I had that feeling you get before catching a cold, but I did not become sick. After that, the feeling went away. Cold showers help clear your mind of anxiety and stress, and you feel amazing afterwards - crystal clear. Although I still feel uncomfortable on some days, I continue to do it consistently because I know I will feel better afterwards.

My dad is 70+ years and there was never a day when he skipped his morning cold shower. As you rightly mentioned, he is fit as a fiddle with no BP or diabetes or any ailments that usually people at this age suffer.
If he is concerned with his health enough to subject himself to cold showers everyday, he's obviously doing other things that contribute to his overall good health. This is what we call an anecdote.
My neighbour is 73 and as healty as anyone can ever be. He never took a cold shower in his life. On the other hand: no alcohol, no cigarettes, eating healty, and daily 45min run.
As someone who very slowly got into cold showers (reluctant like many), they have since become a near daily thing for me the past few years and have been absolutely life changing. It sounds too good to be true, and there is a cost of being uncomfortable, but I really have seen all of these benefits. I almost never get sick, my mild allergies are literally gone, my anxiety and brain fog (especially during the pandemic here) are 100x easier to manage and a cold shower is way more potent than caffeine for focus for me with no crash. I am less sore after workouts as I recover faster, and my 50 pound weight loss is probably much more due to healthy diet changes so it's anecdotal, but didnt hurt! Thank you SO much for sharing this and about Wim's work. He and you have changed my life! 🙏 Happy Holidays

Before I became a mom, my husband and I were young and starting off rough. We couldn't afford electricity or heat. I took cold showers every single day for about 6 months. I remember during the winter I would step out of my freezing shower feeling like needles poking me in the legs. Don't recall getting use to it, just remember thinking "Do what you gotta do"... We finally got back on our feet. However, one thing I also noticed was how gorgeous my hair was. I mean shiny, volume. It was just healthy looking.. Cold showers are rough, especially during winter time when you have no heat or electricity, but cold showers do wonder to your hair! 🙂
For anyone finding it difficult: start with 5 seconds of the cold water just on your head. Then wait about 30 seconds before starting a full cold shower, the rest of your body won't feel much of the cold shock.
Wim Hof didn't recommend getting your head cold, as I seem to recall bad things could happen (like passing out or something). Something about sympathetic vs parasympathetic.
The first 40 seconds of a cold shower is painful but than your body adapts to it, I’ve been taking cold showers for 3 minutes a day for about 2 years now and it’s definitely alleviated feelings of depression.
I do this off and on, but I prefer ice baths. The trick is to wash with warm water, than change it to cold and see how long you can handle it, increasing the length each day. Edit: This guy knows his stuff
It’s wonderful to hear you discuss the cold showers and cold exposer. My long-term exposure to cold showers made me believe in thermogenesis. I’m 59 years old, and a former college professor encouraged me to take cold showers to prevent sinus and flu episodes when I was 21. I gave it a go, starting with hot showers and working my way up to the cold exposure-no more hot baths after that. As a result, I had fewer cold episodes in forty years and no other health problems. I had more energy and focus, better and smoother skin, and fewer sports-related injuries. You will not be sorry if you give it a shot. Greetings from Brazil.

When I started cold showers I went all in, no hot to cold just straight to cold. Now I live in Florida so cold is not freezing. Still it was torture at first. I am now into Florida winter and even though the water is much colder the shock is very minimal. Cold showers are like running. I don't look forward to it but once I start i feel great.
Last year, while working from home, my daily morning routine involved a mandatory wake-up shower, which I would start out normally and would gradually start making the water colder and colder. I must say that it worked wonders for me, far better than coffee or any other substitute.

I’ve only taken cold showers after a hard workout. But yesterday I tried a wake up shower because I had no option since our boiler is out. And it woke me up more than any amount of coffee ever could. For the past month or so, we’ve been boiling water on the stove and showering the way my parents used to in Mexico when they were kids. But that cold shower just hit different and even when we do have hot water again, unless I absolutely need to, I personally don’t think I’ll be going back to hot showers. Now I understand why people in other countries are just so alert, and healthy overall.
As a kid visiting greece i saw everyone had stainless bright polished water tanks. They said that is all they use for warm water. I said what if it's cold out. They said too bad. They enjoyed it a bet. We've been missing out. I did one last night and it took a bit to get used to. Pretty good in the end.

I used to shower normally with warm and then also towards the end before i got out turn it lower and lower until it's the coldest. Might not have as good an effect, but it's a good way to get into it, and maybe start doing it more and more cold bit by bit.
It's my 2nd day. The first day i was gasping for air, i couldn't breathe after 5 seconds. Thought i was going into cardiac arrest. Day 2 i managed deep controlled breathing (exhaling fast) and i love it now. I feel so great afterwards. I have a warm shower for 1 minute and then move it to cold. I only stay under for 15-20 seconds though, will gradually increase.
Wim Hof is the man. I do his method everyday ( breathing in the morning and cold shower after my warm one ) I'll speak on personal changes I noticed, from the cold shower. Anxiety literally goes away, No exaggeration. I would get anxious going into the unknown or big events, now, I am so damn calm, It's like I'm a different person. Another thing, stamina. I was helping a friend move during the summer, when the heat wave first hit. 90+ all day, no clouds, started around 2PM, ended at 10PM. I only stopped once to drink water and kept moving, lifting, etc. After it was all done, I felt I could do it all over again. That was the first time I noticed the effect of the cold showers. Now, you will hate it, we all do. That initial first time you will be scared and do little by little, with your foot, then your leg, etc. That's what I did. Then I did my back one day and could barely stay in without shaking so much then jumping out. After the 4th day, I got so pissed off and say THIS IS WATER YOU BITCH. Then I pushed my whole backside into it and stayed for 10 sec and DID IT. That gave me the confidence to keep at it. Once I got my back used to it, then I did the front ( front is harder ) and now, I do it everyday. Even though you get used to the cold, you still will have it in your head "Ah man do i really want to do this..." and you do it anyway, that gives you the power over your mind, and you become who you were meant to be...a F-IN BEAT IN CONTROL.

Thanks Dr. Berg! I like to take a very hot bath first, and then a cold shower. The very hot bath makes you uncomfortable after a while, so taking a cold shower brings you relief and comfort, so you actually begin to associate cold exposure with comfort. @@Rosesraspberries72 Heat causes vasodilation, which is widening of the blood vessels. Your blood pressure might have been low due to hypovolemia, or dehydration. Drink more fluids to prevent that. Using a cold shower to cause vasoconstriction to get your blood pressure closer to normal may make you temporarily feel better but it's not a healthy way to treat that condition. The reason why is because what would happen if your body got hot again? You'd feel sick again and maybe even pass out. Get a blood pressure monitor at the pharmacy and check your blood pressure occasionally. Also see a doctor that knows or can take your medical history and make a proper diagnosis. Good luck, hope you feel well, stay healthy and safe. Happy Holidays!
I started taking cold showers about 2 months ago. The difference in how I feel is absolutely amazing! Better workout recovery, less stress, more energy, etc. Cold showers are here to stay!
I started doing cold showers one month ago. Started at 1 minute, now at 5. I love them! I feel mellow and energized at the same time. One thing not covered is the temperature of the "cold" water. It will differ based on time of year and your location. A cold shower in July in Alabama is a lot different than a cold shower in Minnesota in February. It's mid December here in New Jersey and the water is getting colder every day. I wonder how the cold water will feel to me when spring and summer arrive...will it be cold enough?
I'm not from US, but I have the same issue when summer comes. And the solutions are: a freezer like the one Wim Hof using or a bath tube filled with water and ice. Wim Hof's advise to have at least 15 deg Celsius as a max temperature. It would be perfect to be 12-13 deg Celsius. Of course the best is to have from time to time a ice cold water temperature - about 2-3 to 5 deg Celsius.
@@hristiyaniliev3863 It's fine having the water temperature to be "less cold" during summer. I think It's a more natural way to take showers. Like eating vegetables that are in season. We shower with water that is "in season"

Tried during winter, and can totally recommend, it really makes you appreciate warm showers that much more and adds a further understanding to what pain is.
#11 it improves your discipline and self control! Just tackling one minor hurdle each day makes you feel successful and strong. I’ve practiced this for 2 years now, I’m the guy out all winter in a t shirt, every time someone thinks I’m nuts I hold their hand and every single time mine are FAR warmer than theirs in gloves and coats. Circulation improvements are significant. Also, I was completely asymptomatic to COVID when my kid brought it home from school. Also, cool water is much more gentle on your skin and hair, it doesn’t strip away the oils. Especially important in winter as we’re already very dry. These are all great points I’ve waited for this video so long, thanks again.
Actually, two years ago, I took a very cold shower in the winter, especially at dawn, until I got water at a freezing point. It is really very useful for two minutes, after which you do not feel cold.
It's true though lol. I worked at a summer camp and the hot water was busted, so I was forced to shower every night with cold water and just wash my face in the morning. You get used to it eventually from a couple seconds to a couple of minutes of exposure, your energy level does increase
Took my first ever cold shower today and I feel amazing I put it at the coldest it could go and went for a full 15 minutes! It was all mental for me and I can't believe how great I feel

Day 3: today I did 1 minute because I did something more drastic : place my head under the shower :) I live in Quebec so cold water here is colder than in my native Colombia - but I’m here for the challenge !!! :) also today day 3 of fasting - only water & I see and feel differences for sure !! I love this channel !!!
I take shower in my garden. All the time, no matter what month. Yes, in December, in Europe. Wintertime. After the shower, no towel. Just staying in the sunlight for another ten minutes. I love it.

It helped me to quit alcohol, I lost 13kg of weight, all of which was fat. I feel better, I look better. Start gently and with regular practice you’ll be be taking 100% cold showers easily, even in winter!
My mom actually applied cold baths when I was 11 to 15 to help me with my astma. After the age of 15 I stopped with cold baths, did do some cold showers from time to time. Now, at the age of 41, I came back to cold showers and for three weeks now I've been going to a pond with with some friends. Had to break ice a couple of times :). I'm not sure how much of one time per week does, but it really is a mood booster. Plus I'm so proud of myself! 😁
@@snn2913 I have cured my childhood asthma by taking 2 mins cold showers most days. No meds or wheezing at all. Also cured my hay-fever. Also never had a head cold since... Last 2/3 years where I would get one every few weeks at one point..
I'm going to follow this protocol for 2 weeks and report back. For day 1, I feel a lot more energy. Although it's counter intuitive for sure, I didn't expect to feel invigorated! 👍👍👍 Merry Christmas 🎄 and greetings of the season to one and all! ❤️❤️❤️
This might be a good video for a large portion of the world... but I work construction in Canada. I work outdoors through -15°C, -20°C winters (5°F, -5°F). Sometimes even colder. My immune system gets its fair share of cold throughout the day, trust me. There's no way in hell I'm taking a cold shower when I get home.
You might be surprised at how well you can handle the cold shower since you already have exposure, and how it may help you when you are in the cold working. It really is amazing, I've been doing cold showers for a long time, and the one thing I've always noticed is how clear-headed I feel afterward. It is hard to "want" to do it, so mentally you must prepare yourself and with controlled breathing enter in and allow your body to get adapted to it. Honestly, the first 15 or 30 seconds is the worst. Reminds me of if you jump into a cold pool or lake and the cold is so intense at first, but after a little bit, you can relax and be alright in it.
the showers make it easier. i was doing cold showers every day for a few months and eventually found myself working on a rooftop in a t-shirt in january. at a certain point your body just stops noticing the cold
I worked outside for 33 years. I was pleanty acclimated to cold but 8 to 10 hours daily at below freezing in harsh weather conditions for weeks was very tough and happily I'm done with that. I needed the warm water to rejuvenate!
I'm 52..and I've been following your advice since Jan 1 '22.....I'm down 30 lbs....my energy is back to like my early 30's.....and my body feels GREAT! Dr. Berg has saved my life....please listen to him!

I've taken more than 700 cold water showers, at the lowest possible temperature, and in places like Kyoto, Portland and the Himalayas. At least 365 of them were consecutive. The *only* benefit I gained was the ability to jump into a cold water shower without feeling nervous. That's it. Nothing else changed, life was still the same.
Your body was already well tuning or something fitting in between genetics, DNA... all of these buzz words that makes someone appear nerdy than they are.
I always felt better after a cold shower than if I took a warm or hot shower. I can corroborate that it's not enough to lose weight, if that's what you were hoping for. You still need a good diet and exercise routine, especially to enjoy more of the benefits of cold therapy.
The peace you feel in you mind after taking cold shower is unparallel. Certainly helps elevate mood, concentration, positivity in life. Easily doable in countries like India where I live. It is really interesting to see how just a cold water exposure has impact on how you feel throughout the day. Our body is strange chemical reactor and even our thoughts, mind are one of the effects of the chemicals. Cold shower seemed to have a similar effect as that I felt when I used to take multivitamin pills. I can literally feel the warm blood rushing through the body. A very good learning from 2021 for me.
I have been suffering from psoriasis for more than 35 years now. Through life this make you feel different. The whole day you feel your dry skin and you leave scales all day all over the place. Late 2019 i started taking cold showers (2-3 minutes each day ) and stopped taking WARM SHOWERS ALL TOGETHER. At the start more than 30% of my body was covered with psoriasis plaque. It took about a month to see a clear difference (less scaling) and maybe 3-4 months to reduce the covered skin to less than 5% (the legs were hard to clear.) This was the first ever time in my life were the psoriasis went a away without using UVB therapy or other treatment. Then i did something stupid and i started mixing in warm water and after 1 year > 30% was covered again. How stupid is that?! How did i forgot this?? Because warm water is comforting?? So 3 months ago i started again. It is summer over here, so cold isn't really that cold. (15°C...20°C) Guess what?: most of it cleared already. When i tell people, they don't believe it and says it is a coincidence. Ya rigth...2% of people suffer from it and this is just a coincidence. That does not make sense statistically. My answer to that is just try it! Try it for a month and see what happens. If anything it will reduce you're gas bill. I believe that warm water does withhold your skin from healing a psoriasis spike. The spots now still appear, but in stead of getting larger, after a while they disappear again. Where in nature do mammals take daily warm showers?
Hey Lex, my close relative had it awful. On elbows and legs. We didnt see each other for about a month and his was almost cleared. I ask what did he do and he had read not to shower every day. He went the first week not showering to 3 x over week. Its amazing....a miracle! I always thought it was internal from diet, but this proved me wrong. Thanks for sharing. Today was my first cool shower!
I've been doing cold showers daily for the past 9 months. I definitely think it helps burn extra fat, I also direct the cold shower on my thighs where I naturally store more fat and I've noticed an improvement in this area. Your skin goes lovely and smooth too. I've done this in combination with low carb/keto, hot baths and fasting regularly 36 hrs plus. I have never felt so good in my life.
wowzers ali - great job - i've been experimenting with fasting - will have to try this out. how long before it's no longer uncomfortable - or is it still?
@@ash_bordeaux it's still a shock and a bit uncomfortable for a while. I began gently with a hot shower and at the end did a 30 - 60 second on coldest, but that was 9 months ago, now I can go straight into a cold shower on days when I feel strong but I don't always do this, it depends on how I feel. Hope this helps.
I've been taking cold showers for 3 years, adopted the 5 am victory hour this year and recently 16/8 intermittent fasting and 10+20 mins of HIIT sessions each day. All these help me to be a top performer in a stressful and pressured tech sales environment. Make more money and better health. Give it a go everyone.
Hey that’s awesome to hear, keep it up! I was just wondering if you are performing your HIIT while fasting and if so what is your fasting time frame so I can try and implement that to my schedule too, thanks!
@@xCRAZYF1GHT3Rx I skip breakfast so the 10 minutes session at 5am is light, I do abs or low impact exercises. My 20 minutes HIIT session is during eating window, so it's all good there. It feels so good to have a healthy routine that suits my life style, really wish I started this many years back.
That's cool and all, but I'm sticking to my warm showers 👌 Both temps have their ups and downsides. And a lot of these videos I'm seeing are not depicting that. Instead they're conveying hot=bad cold=good, especially through the thumbnails. Which isn't the case
@Damion Juan your pores literally open to let sweat out if you're hot, which hot water kinda causes if you haven't realized, and buildup of that gunk in your pores can lead to acne

Absolutely amazing! I really didn't think I could endure 30 seconds of complete cold, but I did. In fact, I stayed in for 60 seconds and couldn't believe how good I felt after just one time. Thank you, Dr. Berg!
@@fkz4155 Not sure but I live in the mountains where the water is very cold. Cold enough that it will numb whatever it's touching if I don't keep turning. After a month now of doing this I can't say I really see or feel any tangible results however, it is very refreshing and does give me a mild sense of euphoria.
I'm 72 and I've been taking cold showers everyday for months. I divide it up by doing thirty seconds on bad wrist, 30 seconds on feet and ankles, 30 seconds on knees, 30 seconds on bad shoulder, 30 seconds on face and eyes and then about a minute on rest of body. I have reduced my aches and pains by about 90 per cent from doing this routine. In the past I've always experienced a lot of pain after a hard workout. Now, when I do a hard workout it's like I didn't do the workout at all. The cold showers have been that effective in pain reduction.
I just love listening to a presenter that has lived what they are talking about. The presentation always becomes more believable and easier to understand and try. Thank you Dr. Berg👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I've been doing cold showers since I was 17.. almost 25 years, and I swear by them. I hardly ever get sick and when I do, it's just for one day. It also great for my heart.
I started taking cold showers after reading the Wim Hof book last October. Never got on with the breathing, but i absolutely stuck with the cold showers. I am a different man now. Truly. So many changes started happening after a few months of cold showers. Stopped smoking and drugs after more than 15 years of massive use, my skin conditions went away, almost no dandruff anymore. better sleep. i don't really mind cold weather anymore. Started to get up early every day and go to sleep at a fixed time. I am sure it's not because of the cold showers, but because of the new mindset to start the day with something truly uncomfortable, feeling so much better after it. Might start with the breathing again now that my lungs start to work better :) Am dreaming of cold baths sometimes, but that's not an option currently.
@@kenzieusa3356 For me, I am probably in there no more than 2 minutes. It's everything I need to feel great and ready to go in the morning. 5 min, like Dr. Berg recommends, is not realistic for me to maintain over the course of time. Any habit I pick up, most important thing, I think, is to make sure I can actually maintain it. Anything too extreme, I will never stick to over time... and compared to most people, I'm pretty extreme.

I’ve been taking cold showers for at least six months or so. We are in the winter months now and the water out of our tap on full cold is 54° currently at the beginning of January. It’s a whole new challenge this time of year because what I thought was cold in the summer was nothing compared to this! I enjoy the challenge and the feeling of accomplishment after each shower.
Ive been doing like 90% cold and switching to full cold is a whole other thing its painful to the skin only lasting 30 sec on that level on 90% percent no problem at all.
Just make sure you have your cold shower at the very start of the day. I found that if I took it after a long (stressful) day of work, I would find myself more stressed after a cold shower, as the cold causes stress on the body, on top of a day of stress I found made it worse. Start of the day, no issues for me

I remember a hotel in the Australian ski fields had a Sauna and a pool outside that had ice on the surface. You would spend about 30 minutes in the sauna and then run outside to jump through the ice into a freezing cold pool. You would then stay there until you started to shiver. Then you would go back into the sauna. After about 3 cycles you would be absolutely invigorated. Afterwards I would sleep like a baby.

Cold showers saved my life. Everytime I feel suicidal or depressed I take a cold shower and all the dark thoughts dissapear. I feel great rest of the day and I sleep like a baby.
Edit:
I can answer some questions in the comment secton below.
I’ve found that reducing sugar and exercising helps my mood too.

Before I became a mom, my husband and I were young and starting off rough. We couldn't afford electricity or heat. I took cold showers every single day for about 6 months.
So NO hot showers at all? Sounds painful, when you shave? Well, if you shave in the shower, that is. :D

When I started cold showers I went all in, no hot to cold just straight to cold. Now I live in Florida so cold is not freezing. Still it was torture at first. Right. Thanks for the advice.

I'll speak on personal changes I noticed, from the cold shower.

I'm in South Carolina and in the summer the water is not nearly cold enough.

Another great video ! I’ve been taking cold showers for 18 months and the benefits physically and mentally have been massive. It helped me to quit alcohol, I lost 13kg of weight, all of which was fat. I feel better, I look better. Start gently and with regular practice you’ll be be taking 100% cold showers easily, even in winter!
Can you explain how it helped with weight loss? I don’t understand the link
@@MJ-qb5ph alcohol makes you fat. Cut the booze and all the fat disappeared. Cold showers gave me the mental strength to stay off the drink.
Should I still take cold showers even tho it hurts my ears whenever I do it after
My mom actually applied cold baths when I was 11 to 15 to help me with my astma. 😁

Right! I might do his 30sec shower suggestion but no way am I doing longer. Not after I've been working in 28 degrees for 10hrs
the showers make it easier. i was doing cold showers every day for a few months and eventually found myself working on a rooftop in a t-shirt in january. at a certain point your body just stops noticing the cold
I worked outside for 33 years. I was pleanty acclimated to cold but 8 to 10 hours daily at below freezing in harsh weather conditions for weeks was very tough and happily I'm done with that. I needed the warm water to rejuvenate!
Just tried it. NOPED OUT after 4 sec. Maybe tomorrow I'll do 5 sec 👍

Actually people follow this religiously. I used it to loose 30lbs and kept it up for years
I've taken more than 700 cold water showers, at the lowest possible temperature, and in places like Kyoto, Portland and the Himalayas. At least 365 of them were consecutive. The *only* benefit I gained was the ability to jump into a cold water shower without feeling nervous. That's it. Nothing else changed, life was still the same.
Perhaps you were pretty healthy already :)
Thank you. 🙏🏻
(Kinda sick of the "Misery Makes Miracles" dogma on the webs)
Yeeeeesssssss!
A cold shower in India is a warm shower in Europe
@@djharto4917 haha true. But given the body has also adjusted the respective temperatures, I feel the comparative impact could be similar.
@@tinyrockyplanet8953 Well stated,
I have been suffering from psoriasis for more than 35 years now.
Who cares I refuse to take cold showers
If you fast regularly that’s an eating disorder
Thanks for sharing Mel :)
Ali (seriously) thanks for sharing your experience. I was hoping it would just become "normal". sounds like not.
I like the way cold showers makes your body feel all zingy. Taking cold showers also tightens your pores, toning the skin.
Start with a warm shower and finish it with a cold shower!!
I've been taking cold showers for 3 years, adopted the 5 am victory hour this year and recently 16/8 intermittent fasting and 10+20 mins of HIIT sessions each day. That's cool and all, but I'm sticking to my warm showers 👌 Both temps have their ups and downsides. And a lot of these videos I'm seeing are not depicting that. Instead they're conveying hot=bad cold=good, especially through the thumbnails. Which isn't the case
hot showers open your pores making the gunk that builds up in them easier to wash away
@Damion Juan your pores literally open to let sweat out if you're hot, which hot water kinda causes if you haven't realized, and buildup of that gunk in your pores can lead to acne
Yall are both right
This man is a liar. It’s extremely bad for you actually. This shill. SMH. People have literally died from doing the ice bucket challenge. It shocks your system. It also has long term negative health effects. I can’t stand doctors like this.

Just make certain you don’t have a heart condition. The shock of cold water can make the heart race.
how much celsius u shower with?
@@fkz4155 Not sure but I live in the mountains where the water is very cold. Cold enough that it will numb whatever it's touching if I don't keep turning. @Bongo Cat You are correct!

I just watched this video and the first thought that comes to mind is, won't the cold water make it harder to wash off any soap residue?
@@jonnyboat2 it's not a complete cold shower start to finish. I start out hot and gradually take it to cold. The last few minutes are ice cold.
Did this as a 30 challenge ~ 6 years ago. Have not stopped since and never plan to. Best change I've ever made in my daily routine.
Might start with the breathing again now that my lungs start to work better :)
Am dreaming of cold baths sometimes, but that's not an option currently.
How long do you take them and do you think a long cold shower is worse than short cold shower?
@@kenzieusa3356 For me, I am probably in there no more than 2 minutes. It's everything I need to feel great and ready to go in the morning. 5 min, like Dr. Berg recommends, is not realistic for me to maintain over the course of time. Any habit I pick up, most important thing, I think, is to make sure I can actually maintain it. Anything too extreme, I will never stick to over time... and compared to most people, I'm pretty extreme.

Just make sure you have your cold shower at the very start of the day.
