Far too many businesses rely on DJI drones. Agriculture would be impacted tremendously. I was involved in Search and rescue and one fellow was saved by his little mini 3 during a fire. He was able to see a forest fire and which roads were safe.
you mean whole western industry (by their own decisions) relies on china manufacturing, so this will have major karma effect? correct, it will be stupid decision.
Yep, our local police have a DJI drone or fleet of them
Great advice. It is exhausting. That is why we no longer watch the news. It's exhausting to see FACTS distorted to support one side. Let's all enjoy our hobby and enjoy life.
Thank you for the updates. Also it’s not like it’s a huge balloon going over the entire us.
Hopefully they will listen to our concerns... DJI is by far the best option at this time..
No one seems to like anything rc!! Every other time I fly someone comes over to start yelling at me, half the time it’s the cops, and even my rc trucks and boats tend to pull negative attention. I wish something was done about this stigma
Sheesh where are you? People never tell me anything about my drones in public except getting excited about seeing it. Southern California here
@@evaerials Illinois, about 20 miles west of Chicago.
@@SkyPathProductions interesting! Must be a lot most stigma about drones over there
i get the exact opposite. I try to NOT use rc's around people because their such a conversation starter and people will talk my ear off about the device instead of letting me drive and enjoy it haha
@@ErrythingPhroze yes that’s very true. I always try to takeoff / land / operate the drone from a place as sparsely populated as possible! I don’t want to be bothered either
Now you know how we feel in the 2A space. ALL the time.
Yep.
I have never felt so relatable to gun owners, I agree. Laws seem to only restrict the law abiding. I see where more regulations just turns people who want to be law abiding hobbyists into criminals, willingly or ignorantly.
It only matters if you give a shit about the tyrannical edicts of a corrupt government
Difference is, innocent people aren’t getting “droned to death” in the street mistakenly, out of fear😂
Fact: Absolutely nothing will happen. Fly your drones people, follow the rules, be safe and be responsible.
👍👍👍
People being safe and responsible is not the condition that led to an increase in legislation.
I like the way you think Frank! ;-) T
@@beeawesome7140 Who said it was? I'm telling people what to do with their drones. You know, instead of clicking on a video that seeds fear.
@@dronebuzz Thanks friend.
Thanks for the rational commentary.
There's a lot on YT that just seem to be click fishing and scare mongering, glad that you stick to rationality and facts.
Dear Russ @ 51 Drones,
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your fantastic content. Your UA-cam channel has been an invaluable resource for drone enthusiasts like me. Whether it’s learning about the latest drones, understanding Part 107 regulations, or exploring creative ways to use these flying marvels, your videos have been both informative and entertaining.
Your dedication to sharing your experiences, tips, and insights has made a significant impact on the drone community. From practical advice on launching and landing to discussing the business aspects of drone piloting, you’ve covered it all. Your passion shines through, and it’s contagious!
I especially appreciate your video on “4 Tips for New Drone Pilots.” The emphasis on safety, battery management, and SD card space was incredibly helpful. And let’s not forget the essential reminder about FAA compliance - we all want to avoid those surprise letters in the mail!
Thank you for being a beacon of knowledge and inspiration. Keep soaring high, and may your propellers always spin smoothly!
Warm regards,
Larry 🚁
OPINION: It's all BS... Just be safe. Fly as often as you can.
I appreciate the effort that you put into these videos to keep us updated your by far one of the most helpful people and even when you down I hope you know that there are people out there that care about you and that I'm one of them
If China and national security were actually the issue, they would have to ban most brands of cell phones. As we know from the ads they feed us, they are listening 24/7, follow everywhere we go, and probably see every photo we take with those phones. There are exponentially more phones than drones in the US. Thanks for keeping us up to date on all this, Russ.
Thank you for looking out great video
Hey man I’m some what of a new subscriber to your channel. I’ve watched quite a bit of your videos and you seem very knowledgeable when it comes to this hobby and DJI drones. I’ve been flying DJI recreational since 2021 and have been looking to purchase a Mavic 3T for commercial use. In your opinion, do you think I should not buy DJI for commercial purposes?
I agree Russ, it’s time to just fly again and enjoy the hobby.
Russ - I agree that this topic is exhausting, but I did enjoy your video and the fact/opinion format you used.
Hope you are having a good summer!
Can’t help but notice all the Law Enforcement and Military that utilize DJI Drones in the field by where I reside. It’s not a mistake that DJI offers them something that US Drone Manufacturers can’t seem to match. If anything, they’ll just charge higher import taxes and require a more in depth remote ID. Not at all worried and just bought a new DJI drone last week! 😂
That’s a cool neat small portable air conditioner ever seen one like that
This is why I follow you! Thank you for keeping the information updated and explained clearly! You know I was worried on buying the matrice 30t but know I’m going to get one!
I've thought for a months that this bill was hidden under the agenda of the future delivery drone services by Amazon etc...
Same here
Love EcoFlow!!
I suspect two things. Its always follow the money. Skydio cant compete and pulls out of the mid price drone market, then suddenly their fingerprints are all over a ban of the competitor they couldn't beat. Also big companies want to be able to go to drone delivery, to not have to pay all those pesky delivery drivers. I would be shocked if there arent huge bribes getting spread around congress to get those things done. Two separate interests that need the same starting line, and theres a lot of money to be made if they get the dji ban done.
In China corruption is solved easily.
Thanks for the updates!
I read that several government agencies, the FBI being one of them, have already banned DJI drones from being used for their purposes. I don't know if this is true, but I am worried because I am presently trying to get a contract with an agricultural government agency and I'm afraid that I won't be able to use a DJI multispectral drone. That's an area of concern that has not been discussed, but many government contractors will be at risk if government agencies can ban DJI drones.
Thank you Russ! Smart analysis! ;-) Fly well! T (Perhaps the bigger story is that political types need to earn the public's trust by legislating transparently and by being fully honest (with "we the people" who hire (elect) them) at all times. The mainstream media influencers should also follow suit. Don't you think?)
I wish DJI would come out with a miniature avata 2. Under the ridiculous made up for no reason, 250 grams. Yes battery time will have to be shorten, but keep the camera quality. That would be awesome, a mini avata!
Thanks for the updates, keep them coming! Also what do you think about Anuz Robotics they went ahead and copied DJI enterprise drones and gave it a different name and color. My question is How are you going to steal the same look DJI drones and change the name of them, it’s not being original. I feel some kinda way about that. I love DJI and no one else can compare to the DJI Drones at least not yet.
I have a question and I really don't know the proper way to direct it to you so I'll just ask it hear. I have a Mini 4 Pro with the RC-N2 controller. I just picked up an Air 3 with the RC2 controller. If I pair my Mini 4 Pro to the RC2 controller, do I have to repair to the Air 3 when I use that drone and vice versa?
I think you hit the nail on the head. The small drone companies and recreational users are in the way and the glue is DJI. Remove the glue and with no alternatives, people go back to their old jobs and old/no side gigs.
Until we start making our own drones from parts kits sold by DJI that can't be tracked lol. The RC air world has always been the blunt object that the haters want to control the most.
I always like to listen to the voices of reasoning, and you are one of them, thanks!
Just 3 words: Class Action Lawsuit. Make it hurt: demand compensation for old products (if old products are affected as well) and make sure you put a price tag for the labor you put in (the pain of writing a check of incalculable sums before the bill becomes law will stink ) Challenge the draft bill on it's nonsense. Get a good lawyer, will help you to pay for it.
So… I should cancel my order for 10 Air 3’s and 10 avata 2’s?
We will be flying our DJI drones for many more years to come. I wish all the UA-camrs can put this to rest and move on……
It's all about the views for a lot of the fear mongering channels.
Any chance you can do a wind resistance comparison for DJI drones. Specifically I’m looking at the mini 4 or the air 3. I know the bigger drone will have mor resistance but I’m just curious how much more and how much it affects pictures and footage.
Just skip both of those, and go straight for the Mavic 3, standard or pro if your wallet can handle it. Just a pure beast in the wind, hardly care about it. Flying it now in Greece Karpathos, witch are an island known for heavy winds and gusts. I keep sending it up, and no issues at all, I would never send my mini up there thats for sure.
Yes, thank you.. there are plenty of other channels reporting this.. it's better to see you enjoy your channel with reviews, how to's, and what not.. but we'll still be watching and enjoying what you stow, thank you and keep it up.. question.. what's the best lens filter for the mini pro 4? Still trying to find gear and accessories for my drone.. thank you and God Bless you and your family..
So do I spend the time and money right now to get a 107 License ?
It's not that hard or expensive. Do it.
Thanks for reporting on the DJI ban and thanks for ending these conversations. Looking forward to just drone tips and fun stuff again from your channel.
So just to confirm, the drones we have will be legal even if the ban passes?
The CCCPDA language as written makes it unlikely they would try to revoke existing spectrum licenses.
Yeah it will be future products that can be banned. So when batteries go bad you're shit outta luck
What would be super helpful is for you to do a video that is fully informative on the bill that is pending in the Senate. Not one that is sponsored by another product. That way, we could send your video to our senators to watch before the vote. You are extremely knowledgeable and I would be more than willing to submit your video to the Senate for viewing.
what about Amzu? they have the Mavic 3 enterprise clone, right?
What about future firmware updates how’s that gonna work out
I just hope they come out with the 04 air unit before anything goes down.
I've been so stressed about this damn ban, I own 6 DJI drones, & im buying more. I was ready to buy a Mavic 3 Pro, but now that the AIR 3s has been leeked, im waiting to see its specs. I like filming wildlife & I really wanted a good zoom camera, my AIR 3 has the 3x Optical & 9x digital that helps, but I want more powerful zoom capabilities for filming Elk & such.
Damn that’s a interesting thought
With "Chevron" doctrine being tossed out by SCOTUS, does this regulation by FAA to get Remote ID and License going to be voluntary? How would this impact DJI banned if it has too much ambiguity?
Thanks and agree with your perspective. Spent my weekend enjoying my drones and shooting amazing locations. Will deal with what it comes when it comes.
That’s the way! 🤛🏻
Thank you for the time and effort you've spent to keep us informed about drones and what is really going on with the DJI drone ban.
I'm with you, I don't buy the national security thing. And if DJI is removed as an option, the other US made options will never improve since DJI isn't there to drive the innovation and value. And we'll all be buying ugly green Anzu versions of the same DJI products.
Drone air traffic? Have you looked in the sky lately. There isn't any traffic from drones.
It's tell you to look up while they pick your pocket.
Where are iphones, iPads made?
Good info as always Russ 👍
Thank you for your time and effort! It's truly exhausting if you let yourself buy into it too deeply! Let's get back to flying..
Fly what ya got.... Just send it! Thanks Russ... All I know is that My Rep. directly lied to me so I've lost all confidence in him... And I'll let him now this next week when I cover the 4th celebration for the paper. Show me the documentation before you decide the representation... Do not ban DJI Drones... That will not fly! I made that t-shirt!
You used the words "legislators" and "facts"... in the same sentence....that's an oxymoron.
I used to agree with you. I have done some digging and I am not sure I do anymore. My opinion now is divided. The american alternatives are sub-par and more expensive. That is why people have been flocking to DJI. Let’s make things better and affordable and people will buy it. After all, for an equal drone which one would you buy, Made in China or Made in USA.
I’m confused. You say you don’t agree with me, but your statement is exactly what I believe. 🤷🏻♂️
Pokemon Go, A game on millions of phone is actually sending pictures back that are taken by its users to give china full 3D images of every town, city, building inside and out in the USA. Every single place of consequence is fully detailed because they are a gym or stop. That game is in 10,000 homes vs 1 with a drone.
That game is a million times the threat of DJI drones....
Ban, I paid a lot of money for my Dji. Ban it you better have some money to pay me.
I blame eco flow
In any society, each and every activity must be done with the respect of others in mind. Freedom/liberty has never meant "doing whatever you fancy" !
If flying a drone (or ANY other activity) creates a danger for other users (paragliders, aircrafts, parachuters, animals, etc.), then a regulation is necessary.
This is what is named "society", "living together", "collectivity"... name that as you wish, the concept is easy to understand.
Alternatively, everywhere in the World there are many islands awaiting for population... anyone can pick their island of choice, and do whatever they want without disturbing anyone around. Because there are no societies to be disturbed.
That's bull stop drones because they might upset someone then where would it stop with dirt bikes sports cars .......on and on
If it was actually about national security they’d shutdown google maps immediately.
Just bought an air 3 to go with my mini 3 pro.
Thanks for the update
Agree totally. They are clueless about drones in Washington DC.
As with almost everything else.
@@brennanIX they're not clueless about bribes.
They are not clues, their goal is to decouple. They only need to make up excuses for the masses to not freak out.
@@AR7271 insider trading either
I live in Australia, but the possibility of a US ban on DJI concerns me because our regulators often follow the US lead. There’s also the fact that without the US market, DJI could struggle to innovate. I agree that a grab for the sub 400ft air space is probably the real driver for this.
We have drone delivery already here in Ireland - Manna drones.
@@deeweeuavp We have it in limited places, but a huge expansion probably isn’t far away.
The Chinese car makers keep on innovating without the US market. What makes you think that DJI can't do the same when it already commands >70% of the drone market in the world? Keep in mind that their revenue in China alone is already bigger than the US one as of 2 years ago. Sure it'll dent their revenue. But their home market is big enough to guarantee that they won't slow down. It'll be us in the US struggling to find replacements for the same price point.
I also live in Australia , I dont see it happening here, as this is all about protecting USA based Drones, which are totally rubbish, just like Australia has zero import tariff on Electric Cars from China, and now Usa has 100% tariff, we have no industry to protect here.
Australia and the U.S are not the same type of market. The Americans are implementing full scale protectionist measures over geostrategic competition with China. Australia has no industry to protect. Chinese cars have been allowed to be sold on the local market, Does Australia design and manufacture drones? The answer is of course not thus why would the government implement such a ban? It would trigger antagonism with China whilst also angering farmers and other civilian drone operators who rely on them to do their work. When it comes to these bans i think America will most likely stand alone. You might see some limited restrictions by U.S allies but from what i've seen they've already been dragged through the mud through Russia/Ukraine as well as the Middle East/Gaza/Red Sea crisis. They simply have no appetite to implement the wholesale banning like what we're seeing in the U.S.
Just got my Air 3. Also Air 3 is 20% off. (AMZ, BB BH) are going fast
That is because air 4 or Air3s is on the way
@@stilmotionpicture with the potential ban I don’t think are going to develop anything new soon. Plus they are too busy selling drones by the thousands in Ukraine.
@@akrita81Ukraine is now manufacturing its own drones now, in which Ukrainian drones could end up being the best, most technological drones in the world some day? You know the whole quote, “necessity is the mother of invention”
Damn I was waiting for some bargain drones to pop on ebay XD
Those who would give up liberty for security deserve neither
Myself im not worried, ill just go back to old school rc planes like i was doing back in the 80s & 90s ., thanks for the video Russ.
Me neither. I'll just fly my drones anyways, and pay to have someone import any new ones.
The biggest fact if there so worry about the data transfer then force dji to create firmware to avoid this from happening let usa make the firmware they must use and that we analyze this firmwre for its validity and if it passes usa standards but the fact is we have drones and satellites that can see the shoe sizes of everyone in china if we wanted to as well as the rest of the world just like all major countries
if this were a real security threat, any connected electronics made or originating from China would need to be considered for ban too. The phones we all have, tablets, the vehicles we drive, digital cameras, and so on. These devices could easily provide more sensitive data. This is crony capitalism, and I am disappointed in Elise Stefanik - I thought she was better than this.
I agree! Stop talking about it and go fly
I realize you need to make content you're happy making, but I do hope you'll continue to speak on it. I find your takes to be well-reasoned and even keel & included the link to your prior in personal emails I sent to my Representative & Senators. I suspect they hear much more from agenda manipulators than knowledgeable drone operators. I'm not at all certain that mass form emails carry the same impact as individualized communication, so I urge others to do likewise if they're able.
Keep up the good work!
Get liability insurance for anything RC through the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). They are also fighting for your rights to be in the RC hobby.
Thank you for all the information and keeping the community educated.
I was on a search and rescue this weekend for a little boy and was talking to a state trooper flying a skydio drone and he absolutely hates it over the DJI. He stated that the operating system and camera was in no comparison and the battery life is short. He took a new battery out of the package and was bad right out of the package.
why ?
5 letters
starting with T and ending with P rison
And I thought EU was the big bad Wolf in the drone world about stupid regulations and rules that don't make any practical sense at all. But hey, at least we won't be banned out of the sky (yet) and if that happens, I will go on a shopping spree at DJi. Anything else are just not good enough, and Skydio and Autel drones just need to step up their game big time, a ban won't help your business if you can't make what people want.
Autel drones are also a Chinese drone company headquartered in Shenzhen , China and would also be banned under this legislation
This whole thing is stupid the best hobby around is getting picked on all I fly is dji even fpv is dji cameras tbos is such a bummer thanks man
This sounds like a deja vu! huawei anyone? 🤔
No one‘s buying it the newest drones from Dji why would you spend money that’s gonna get banned and also the value is not worth it now!!🤔 Dji needs to pay lawyers, lawmakers to kept away from getting banned here in the US it’s time to pay a big price like ourselves as a consumer paying a heavy price tag of Dji Drones over the years!!!
Dude, you’re clueless. Once they’re close to being banned the price on used drones and parts will skyrocket
Why aren’t they trying to ban Chinese ownership of land near military installations?
Regardless of DJI being banned or not, how can we get US manufactures to enter the market and make products that are as safe, performant, and at a competitive price point? The industry deserves more than one competent player in the market.
Brutal truth? We’re lazy. We want to have the stuff, but we don’t want to take the time to figure out how to make the stuff. 🤷🏻♂️
Must be sponsored by DJI !!!
I hope they don't ban DJI drones
Thanks man, very helpful!! And I 100% agree with you.
I'm less worried about the ban than I am the karens (male and female) that will hear those words and attack me as I try to fly. People are getting nuts out there, feeling emboldened and physically attacking people who may be doing things THEY don't feel is right. I don't walk around filming people, but seeing videos of people physically attacking those who choose to do that makes me worry. I have had arguments with people who seem to feel that when I am 200 feet high I can see inside a home window to spy on them. I show them the image and they're totally confused, because they just know from what they have been told that the only reason a drone is there is to spy on them. I've had threats from people saying "fly over my property and I'll shoot your drone out of the air." Never actually heard of someone trying, but its only a matter of time before its going to happen. People are ignorant and entitled, so watch your backs out there when you fly.
There are so many drone pilot influencers on UA-cam just clickbaiting the heck out of this DJI ban, with claims that all DJI products will be banned, including mics and cameras.
That’s not clickbait. It’s a real possibility. Being on the covered list means no FCC certification, which means no network connection. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for being the rock, Russ.
Love the shirt!
I am getting a mini air for sure before they all go OOS
My mini 2 is still the champ 👏
DJI TEAMS
At least we will still have caddx.
Live just outside of Waxahachie and cant help but notice your shirt.....If you ever get down here let me know and we could go out and enjoy our drones.
I'll believe it's for security when they actually close the wide open borders. That's a much bigger threat than hobby drones.
great video and opinions. I'm very happy to live in Europe but think we will follow you guys in years to come... too bad I can stop all my hobbies then I guess ... flying drones and what about my Bambu Lab 3D printer ... think they will ban that as well ... and god knows how many other products.... I think your remind of control of what is being send to china or any other country by the government would be more than fine by me. I hope this law will never be in place for all of us.
It is no shock that this legislation drama came at the same time Brinc announced its new first responder systems and skydio is putting out first responder ads for thier new drones
Good informational video. Hmmm, big business or security. LOL
Giving you a like as always but I hope also it's the final video. People are all bent out of shape about this for no reason lol.
DJI sends information to Chinese cloud storage including facial recognition and GPS location. Sandia national labs has a classified report that they have requested be unclassified and published.
They do pose a threat, this is not just a conspiracy to promote American drones, although I do worry about the implications for the hobbyist sector once this ban goes into effect.

People like you are quoting a study done in 2017, before any additional security measures were put in place by DJI. It’s a much different time.
@@51Drones cisa is still quoting it and has additional classified reports. I get that you have a financial interest in this but I’m watching from a different perspective.
There is no debate that China has access to their aws cloud instance.
As to the date collection and analytics the capability of the platforms has certainly evolved, but until those reports are declassified it’s speculative.
@@monkeyelvis If they truly want full support for this ban, then declassify for all to see. Only then, will I believe what they are claiming to be true.
@@51Drones I agree with you 100%. Full transparency should have been the beginning of any discussion about banning any product.
It should only be a last resort. I don’t like that it’s even being considered and I wish a compromise could be reached where DJI allows reviews of the firmware and code.
Good video 👍
