I’ve watched a number of reviews today but yours was the one that sold me to make the buy. You really nailed it on your detailed categories and I found things that others aren’t talking about. Appreciated it!
I am absolutely mind-blown at how the color profile turned out for the Air 3...not to mention a smaller sensor just absolutely powerhousing details to this level...awesome video, Russ. Thanks for all you do!
Great video as usual, Russ! Looks like an amazing drone, and had I not just bought the M3P, I could have saved 50% and gone with the Air 3 and get a better controller with external antenna! Super happy with the battery life on my Mavic, though, so no regrets. Hoping lots of people are inspired by this and flood the market with their Mini 3 Pros so I can pick one up as a cheap second drone for those less-safe flying conditions. LOL
Yours is the first YT review I've seen on the Air3. Thank you so much for making it real world, linear and honest. It's an impressive bit of kit that will now silence alot of keyboard warriors lol. Keep up the great work, mate.
I was about to buy the Mavic 3 Pro when I ran across the Air 3. I liked the price and the specs seemed close enough that I ordered it. I don’t have it yet and am doing my research while I’m waiting. Every channel I have watched offers some new info others haven’t and I have found yours to hit closer to what I need. I was a commercial photographer for 30+ years and started working with drones over the past two years. I have an Air 2 and a Mini Pro 3. Your video has inspired me to add a video to my channel when my Air 3 arrives.
Hi Russ just a courtesy message to say your latest footage that you created on UA-cam on the new DJI air 3 is absolutely superb. Any information and your comments about it as it’s made my mind up about purchasing one best wishes once again from Alan from the United Kingdom, 👍
Very comprehensive video Russ - thanks. There have been quite a few youtubers reccommending against the Air 3 as it's not too much of a step-up from the Air 2S or Mini 3 Pro and I'm always cautious of the negativity but having watched this twice now I'm convinced it's the one for me. Thanks again.
Great video as always Russ. Did I anticipate receiving a new Air 3 tomorrow? No! Is it a reality? Yes! Thanks for the effort and details put forth to make this video, it's always appreciated.
Looks interesting coming from a AIr2s. But I cannot find on the DJI website if the Air 3 has Airsense with the ADS-B. This feature is a must have in my area with float planes landing on lakes and have saved me many of times.
Despite listening to what you said about the camera being an upgrade, I think it isn't a large enough upgrade. It's like when a new iPhone comes out claiming the camera is better than the previous. Was hoping for a 1 inch sensor with a variable aperture like the M2P. The other features are an upgrade though. Great video, very detailed.
I have the Air 2s and mini 3 pro both do pretty well on active tracking. But here’s a issue that other UA-camrs are having with using active tracking: a few heavy equipment operators using dozers and larger equipment are having difficulties getting the drone to track larger targets than a vehicle. If you decide to do a video on the active tracking try to track an object larger than an average vehicle. If the air 3 will track larger objects then these equipment operators will definitely be interested in upgrading.
Lots of impressive features on the Air 3 but for me the best thing about the Air 3 is that it made it possible for me to pick up an Air 2S at a steep discount.

After watching your video I went and ordered one! Thanks
Thank you Russ! Amazing video!! The Air3 looks like a great all around drone, but... You sold me on the Air 2s in the very beginning of the video. There is something about the Air 3 image quality that looks super digital and over sharpened. The Air 2s looks a bit smoother, maybe because of the bigger sensor? Also, the 48Mp photo, is not really 48, it's actually 12, over sampled (4x), and the Air2s is 20Mp.. So for photographers, that could be something to factor in. Anyway, Than you again! Your content is awesome!!
Cant wait but still on the fence on maybe waiting on Air 3S. Currently have mavic air 2 but wish I would’ve got the Air 2S. Time will tell. Thanks for the detailed review. Happy Droning. Fly safe
Thx Russ! I just got an Air3 a couple of days ago. I know, maybe I should have gone Air3S, but this is what my budget allowed for. This is my first drone, and I greatly appreciate your videos and in-depth, to the point tutorials. Thank you, Sir!
The advanced return to home would have been glorious last week. I had my Air 2S on the volcano in Iceland. And the zoom lens would have save a lot of danger getting close enough to fill the frame.
Thanks Russ, for real estate I see two options, the Mavic 3 Classic and Air 3 to be the top two choices for those wanting to stay between $1500-$2500. My question is, considering the 4/3 20mp vs the 1/1.3 48mp (stacked), when taking a picture of a house, which has better clarity when down sampled to 3000 x 2000 MLS for a house with let's say from 80 feet vs 380 feet for the neighborhood view or trying to show mountains or water access. I would think the 4/3 20mp would look better at a F4-F5.6 to nail far off detail due to noise being such a factor with these cameras (I am in FL and wouldn't have an issue with ISO 100 at higher apertures), but the panorama mode from the Air 3 might work even better for that neighborhood or beach shot. I am going to make an upgrade to either and right now this is what is running around my head. What are your findings? Will appreciably use your link, but seriously a great topic since these two drones are the best in my mind with real estate photography.
Does the Air 3 actually have a 48MP sensor or is it similar to the Mini 3 Pro's quad bayer filter that divides the pixels into 4 from the original 12MP sensor readout to sort of 'Frankenstein' the 48MP image? I haven't been able to find out for sure, it just seems a bit peculiar that the Air 3 is limited to a lower 4K resolution for video than the 2S' 5.4K but is able to shoot 48MP RAW with a smaller sensor. Strangely the DJI Osmo Pocket 2 allows for taking both 64MP RAW and JPEG stills (vs the Mini 3 Pro's 48MP mode being JPEG only) so I have no idea how it actually all works with DJI. That's a serious perk over the Air 2S if it's genuinely 48MP RAW for stills, especially with exposure bracketing if the dynamic range claims don't quite stand up in the real world.
@@arnisbrown5848 Have you found a definitive answer to this question? When I got the Mini 3 Pro a year ago I researched this question extensively and conducted detailed comparisons of the 12 & 48MP RAW files. My own test were conclusive to me that I could get clearly better results (when properly processed) 48MP images (and could not get anywhere near the same quality upsizing 12 to 48, using Adobe or Topaz Gigapixel). And I found a discussion of "experts" on DPReview that concluded the image sensor is in fact a true 48MP, the same sensor used in the iPhone14, provided with a link to the manufacturer. The maker of this sensor describes it as a 48MP sensor, using the 4-cell binning tech the OPPOSITE that is constantly described -- such that the 48MP can be REDUCED to 1/4 (12MP) to allow for faster frames per second. Personally, I'm convinced that this is the case with Mini 3 Pro, and if this is indeed a "stacked sensor" then it's even better with Air 3. This is a link to the sensor manufacturer's description. Would love to hear thoughts/sources confirming this, or otherwise... www.ovt.com/products/ov48c/

I just got my Air 3 yesterday, after selling my Air 2. The image I saw, as soon as I loaded it on my PC is way, but way better than the Air 2. I never thought about such a massive difference. But it is. Specially dynamic range, and the colours also. But the very best feature by far, is the 70mm lens. Damn! What a parallax effect on my videos! Just love it! Seeing it on a video in UA-cam is different from filming it yourself. What an upgrade. At first I was thinking about the Mavic 3 pro, but I am happy I choose the Air 3. The pro is just too expensive, and the 3rd lens doesn't justify the money asked for it.....
Hey Russ, always enjoy ur content BTW, internal storage on the RC2 is 32GB, not 8GB. So u did get some of ur wish…also, disagree on ur RTH, would use “optimal” it only on the rare occasion when needed.
Subscribed as soon as I saw the Magpul shirt! Thanks for putting this together. Crashed my Mavic Pro last night after not flying it for several years and immediately started looking for a replacement. I think the Mavic is fixable (camera is hard broken but unit still flies and communicates with remote/phone) but this has given me a good opportunity to upgrade and the Air 3 so far appears to be the best bang for the buck.
I just got mine today, and when I saw that gimbal view upwards.... I really wish either the 2 or my M3T could look that far up. I drove to totality during the eclipse hoping to get a drone photo and neither looked up high enough. It was still amazing

Hi Russ, Great video as always. Just wanted to ask you if you noticed any issues when filing for your LAANC approval in this area. This region (North of 3rd Ave) is in a 50ft grid on the FAA ArcGIS map and also when I place a pin on the Air Control map it, indeed, indicates this. See your photos at time stamp1:55 for the area. The oddity is that when one applies for and taps on the LAANC approval link it places a flight polygon on the map and then says "Auto Approval up to 150ft. Also, if I extend the flight area southward into the 150ft grid it maintains this 150ft. approval even though one is limited to the lower grid number. I have notified Air Control to take a look at this. Perhaps the problem is on my end with the Air Control App or, perhaps, my mobile device GPS accuracy is at fault. Not sure. Anyway, fantastic Air 3 video. You continue to be a top drone educator.

Not many reviewers talk about the new technology of the stacked sensor that was only introduced this year. this will push drone filmmaking to a new height. Went to a convention and saw how this stacked sensor works and it is so damn good! can't wait for them to get a 4/3 stacked sensor for the mavic 4. it will get us close to the quality of a full frame sensor. This air 3 already blows the mini 3 pro and air 2s out of the water in low light and sharpness.
@@aloeisthestuff9622 'go read a book' ouch. hahahaa good one 🤣 Stacked sensors are relatively new technologies. Not many camera's out there use stacked sensors other than on all the high-end cameras. Even so, new improvements are being made to technologies such as dual layer transistor pixels. As for drone cameras, this is the first to be introduced this year. If you are rich enough to spend thousands on your dslr and spend another thousands to build your fpv drone to put your own camera on it, good for you ya. Due diligence, mate.
I am skipping this drone unless the mini pro ever needs replacement. But, I like how informative your videos are and am once again, not disappointed. Thanks again. 👍
Love the video. The flight test against the Mavic 3 Pro sold me. Quick question though. Please drop the link to your wireless mic. It was great in the wind portion of you video.
Would u say this is a good drone for recording in the dunes and off road use? Following buggies and sxs? Or should I be look for a fpv? What would suggest
Don't even hesitate if you're on the fence about buying. Mine arrived yesterday and I've been nerding out for a straight 26 hours. Only buying my house has been as exciting lol.
Preferred the 2S in the comparison but thats definitely a result of the warmer white balance. The difference in detail was negligible if at all visible.

I cant wait for the Air 3S or Air 3 Pro! They always come out 6 months after the original model. I've learned my lesson DJI
They are never getting released… this the only one.
Russ. Lucky dawg. I have asked a hundred times how to become a beta tester and all i ever get is silence. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing
Step one, become an affiliate. Step two make videos about the products and refer them to your affiliate link. Step three, prove that you can drive Sales to the website. Step four, wait for them to contact you.
I have the og mavic pro I still love my Mavic but I've ordered the Air 3 I'm super excited.
I guess No other Digital Cameras ever had Stacked sensor arrays? Go Read a book.
@@aloeisthestuff9622 'go read a book' ouch. hahahaa good one 🤣
Stacked sensors are relatively new technologies.
Thanks, Russ! Dobo is excited about this thing too. Perhaps it's time to update from my Air 2.
Right here is the best Air 3 review I've yet seen. Thanks, Russ!
Thank you for another great video.
Don't even hesitate if you're on the fence about buying. Mine arrived yesterday and I've been nerding out for a straight 26 hours. Only buying my house has been as exciting lol.
Would love to see a video on waypoints and keyframes (like the Skydio 2) - thanks for all the info on this!
Preferred the 2S in the comparison but thats definitely a result of the warmer white balance. The difference in detail was negligible if at all visible.
Great video, review. Thanks mate.
I just bought the Air 3 and as a new subscriber to your channel, would really appreciate some in depth tutorials on the additional features and photography/cinematography settings. Thank you!
Great video. I really do not think I will replace my Air 2S. I fly my mini 3 Pro all the time. Great video sir.
Russ, very high quality review on the new Air3! I own the mav3 & mini3 Pro.. after this video I want one now but not just for the O4 this Drone stands out in every category! What should I do?? Lol
Thanks for providing the comparison testing! Nice work!
Thanks Russ for the update on the Air 3
I have the mini 3 pro and wanted to know what you thought about upgrading to the Air 3 is it worth it for a hobbyist?
Excellent video. Thank you 👍
Thanks for the video. I am shopping between the Mini 4 pro and Mavic 3 air
Cool, 😊 I watched 51 drones review first then Billy Kyle, Fly Path, OriginaldoBo,Potato Jet and pilot Institute will be nested in that order 😂😂😂
