Great write up.So other than removing steering knuckle, exhaust , passenger motor mount, what other significant items did you have to remove?When removing the fuse panel... do I need to know any order of operations? Airbag shit or anything else? Also like Ron said below, theoretically if you supported the cradle and engine, could you remove the transmission this way as well? I have to replace the TEHCM and figured I’d replace the 3-5-R as well. Just hoping you can shed some light on it
Is there any other holding mounts needed to be removed? I guess you couldn't have enough clearance unless you drop the cradle. Is that right? Could you pull out the whole transmission this way if you had to? Thanks
I got a 09 Acadia but the suv needs to get gas in reverse sometimes it rolls sometimes it doesn’t the shifts just take a while like slow shifts rpm at idle is 590-620 mpg is 5.5mpg
Hello quick question will the torque converter overheating but the transmission works fine do you have to pull the whole transmission out to check the torque converter and will a bad torque converter makes the car vibrate in drive but not in park
As far as diagnosing your problem goes, I couldn't tell you one way or another. I'm not a mechanic. I do know, however, that you will have to pull the transmission to get to the torque converter.
I have a 2011 traverse awd, codes say it's the input speed sensor, gm shows on prints that's it's in a cover on the driver side on the bottom so do I have to drop it the same why
Possibly. You might just get lucky and be able to access that cover without dropping the frame. That front cover is easier to get at than the side cap.

Yes but you will have to support the engine from the top with motor support tool drop the cradle unbolt trans. From motor and lower the transmission leaving the motor in place suspended from the motor support tool
How's your Traverse running? Any issues? I assume you didn't replace the filter inside the transmission, so just curious if you had any lingering issues after the replacement? I'm currently dealing with this same issue, and all the GM documentation is saying you have to split the case and replace the filter when one of the wave plates breaks. Thanks!
I did not replace the filter. I did flush all the old fluid out of the transmission and cloth strained it looking for metal filings or fragments. I didn't see any so I did not replace the filter. I have put about 20k miles since the repair and the car is still doing fine.
@@jjtfarrell To change the filter you have to split the case. That means full removal of the entire powertrain cradle. I didn't want to do that if I didn't have to. Had there been metal shavings in the transmission fluid when I drained it, I would have.
Did you get this code after disconnecting the steering and putting it all back together c0710-00 Steering Wheel Angle Signal? Panel is saying service traction control and stabilitrak
I don't remember ever getting that code. I took mine to my local dealer after I replaced all the clutch plates and had them reprogram the transmission computer. Cost me about $75.

Thanks Jeremiah, I don't have a lift was just wondering if I can raise the car high enough in order to pull the cradle from underneath if I need to do a complete overhaul? By the way, did you have to remove the exhaust out of the way?
Yes, I did disconnect the exhaust flex tube. It is easily accessed under the passenger side of the vehicle. The way I did it, I could have pulled the whole cradle out. I chose not because I didn't want to disconnect the heater lines, A/C lines and coolant hoses.
Sounds good! I have more courage to do it now! I just replaced an engine on four cylinder GMC Terrain. I wish there was any ways to know if I could just drop the cradle and then yank it out and swap the engine outside. It was a close call but I didn't take a chance. I pulled it from the top and was time consuming. Getting a lift is on my Xmas list!

Was it easier to unbolt the strut from spindle rather than unbolting strut from up top on mount?

I have a 08 with a strange shudder or vibration what causes that . I shift & pulls in all gears but shudders intermittently

So it should be possible to replace this transmission & torque converter while the vehicle is on jack stands and not have to have access to a lift.
