Yup I figured this is how it was done. I'm doing one myself, don't have a lift but should be easy since I've done a few like this. I can see why it would be easier with engine especially if you got a lift but. The way you guys did is a lot less work especially with the support bar on top of engine. Awesome video, not bad that he got it out within 7 hours, i'm assuming none stop. two thumbs up.

There's always "one upers" like you that insult the original poster with the comment you posted. You don't have to one up him by saying you can remove it in a few hours when the book time is 12.5! Guys like you are ran out of my shop in 3 to 6 months EVERY TIME! That's why we have a stellar reputation. We don't work with know it all's or one uper's.
@@MJBclassics I reread my original comment AND rewatched the video. I see in 0 way I insulted the work done in the video. The poor mechanic struggled for 7 hours to get the trans out. Working in chassis, I can only imagine how miserable that was for him. Your 12.5 hour book time, that is the complete job book time. My original comment was the powertrain assembly can be on the floor in 2. Another 2-3 to split it, line everything back up and 3-4 more to reinstall. Add in anything else on that job like plugs, induction system cleaning, engine mounts, power steering line, valve cover gaskets, rear main while you have it apart.
Try using a chain with a binder on that axel.. chain the truck on opposite side to secure it.. then get it to the axel I weld a bolt to it.. put tensioner on it and just give it a tap with a hammer.. it should fly out.. lol thank you for the video
Carlos, excellent work and exactly what I was looking for as I have to do this to my wife's 12' Traverse (same setup) as the Torque Converter is going out. For the engine cradle up top, what points did you connect it to on the motor to stabilize it? I didn't want to have to drop the whole assembly as I didn't want to have to deal with discharging and recharging the AC as you have to disconnect all of those lines as well as some Power Steering lines. Lastly, did you guys have to remove any of the cooling system? I see quite a bit of DexCool antifreeze there, just curious if you had to remove the lines or radiator?

@@str8blastn_HTX yes, and we've put over 30K on it since with zero issues. I'm not sure if you're problem is also the TC, but here were my symptoms. We took a long trip to Tennessee and when I got back I noticed the RPM (tach) would flutter when locked up in 6th gear on the highway - what I mean by flutter is the needle would bounce around a few hundred RPM when cruising. Also, the transmission fluid was black and very burnt, so I drained and filled it a few times to get the old trans fluid out, but within 200-300 miles it was burned up again. Also our MPG on the highway had gotten significantly poorer. @@dreamdealer8702 i just picked up a transmission for my 2014 acadia and the seller said that in order to received a refund, the unit had to be programmed prior to starting the vehicle. Do you know anything about that?
The transmissions and layout are the same between these going all the way up to 2015 I believe, however the model in this video is FWD and you will have extra steps to remove the Transfer case and rear driveshaft from yours being AWD.
You gotta have the TCM flashed to the vin otherwise it won’t shift right. The Chevy Dealer charged me $180 to do that. I just dropped the vehicle off and they took care of it. Make sure you are topped off with fluid before taking it to the dealer.
They always have that shutter. It sucks but found a decent priced trans ans vehicle belongs to customer who pays on time so it was a easy choice to take care of it
@@DFWAuto_Hack you can remove the ac compressor and it only takes a few minutes to drain the cooling system and most have a clean container or can purchase one from Walmart for $4 and reuse the coolant if it’s already clean. It’s just so much faster to just drop the cradle and remove the transmission from there. It’s really not saving time, I’ve done it this way but there’s a reason alldata and Mitchell recommends dropping the cradle when you are a flat rate mechanic like me

They are quite easy to drop out the engine/trans together. A few hours and you can have the entire powertrain out.

crazy, i just went to chariton iowa to get a awd trans for an acadia. Took me total of 6 hours of driving..hopefully it's a good transmission !

He did not have to remove the coolant lines

@@The95TA he normally uses really long zip ties to hold that up. As far as what part of engine. We can remember the specific spot
Did you replacing you torque converter fix the problem? My wife has a 12 acadia and It shutters. From 35 to 40 and 75 to 80

You don’t have to take the cat off, just pull that engine mount off the front of the motor 4 bolts then you can pull the starter right out
Is Removing the trans out of a 2010 Acadia AWD the same as the the 2008 in this video ?

They aren't a good vehicle at all. Everything is crammed in there so they are tough to work on and expensive for labor due to that.
