The aesthetic of Muffin with the philo gloriosum is spectacular! What a beautiful duo!! And Nick please do a propagating video! That would be so helpful -- got my philo gloriosum two months ago and so far it's doing well but I want to learn more and I always trust your content :)
Philodendrons are pretty easy to propagate, most of them have nods so if you cut under the nod of one leaf and put it into water it will do it. You can also put it into leca or sphagnum moss kept very humid. Make sure to give it light and to propagate when it’s a bit warmer outside. And have fun 🙂👍🏻
Welcome to another episode of the Nick & Muffin plant show 😸😆. I love this plant and this is an impressive specimen. I think these Plant of the Week episodes are really good. The care tips are helpful and you chose a good selection of plants that will be of interest to anyone who is building their collection.
`Hi ! First time I see this plant at your place, beautiful like the anthurium clavinervum ! certainly my nest purchase, I think that it might be needy and lunatic ! the cat, Muffin, seems to enjoy it and helps by wiping the leaves with her tail !
I got one with a small, single leaf two years ago for $50 (at that time, these were DIFFICULT to find) and now it has four large leaves! I actually thought I had killed it at one point in time, but it grew back beautifully! Absolutely a rewarding plant to grow that i think is worth the hype!
Hi Nick, I live in Northeast Philly and I usually shop in Bensalem. I can't seem to find Home Depot or Lowe's that has a good selection of plants. I don't get out much due to disabilities but I was wondering if you could suggest a place where I could get some good healthy plants. I did check out the Urban Jungle that you worked at but it's just difficult for me to get there. I usually buy plants online for the convenience. I was also wondering do you have a grow tent in your apartment, I also watch Kat from Good and Plenty and she has one. I also have a black cat 🐈⬛ Misty who is not interested in my plants. You're a sweetheart and I love to watch your videos. 🙋🏻♀️
Hi Nick! That is such a beautiful plant. I love the idea that it grows sideways. That's so cool! I hope I can find one locally. It would be fun to place a pot beside it and let it grow into it, cut it off and give to someone. Now I really need to find one. LOL! I love that Muffin is wanting to be in your videos more. She's so sweet and pretty. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much Nick! I just picked up a wee lil' chonk at my local plant shop and I was clamboring for care tips. I always figured P. gloriosum was out of my price range, so never considered acquanting myself with their care needs, but the plant shop was offering chonks for a crazy good price, and well, here we are -impulse buy... Your video has relieved a lot of my anxiety. Thanks again!
Every time I watch one of your episodes, the movie Mommie Dearest is on the list to the right. Funny yet odd. Love your videos. I see Muffin rules the roost. :)
I absolutely enjoy watching your videos. I’ve been waiting for you to highlight this one for everrr, hahaha. It looks great and it’s always nice to catch it on other videos too. Thanks for sharing! Plant one for me, Xox Angie from CT.
Please do a video when you propagate that beauty. Mine is finally starting to creep and push out bigger leaves. It's going to need to be uppotted soon because it's only in a 4 inch pot but I don't want to mess with the roots because I'm not quite sure what's going on underground. Great video thanks!
Greetings from Bethlehem, Pa. I love that plant. I'm definitely getting one. I have a garden outside that I constantly add to, now I'm filling up the inside of my house lol
Such a well done, informative video. I had concerns about my baby Gloriosum thriving. I feel good about where it’s heading, plus I two new leaves forming.
Wonderful video to watch! I think you've stepped up the game somehow but I can't put my finger on it :) Beautiful plant and It's a joy to see Muffin as well. Last year I experimented with several of my Empiremnum Aureum with 20% bentonite clay (catsand = 100% bentonite clay) and 80% pumice. They have thrived and been super easy to take care of, before I used to lose leaves. So now I use this recipe for my other similar plants.
I have a black cat that looks exactly like yours. I took her and her 3 kittens in when they were just 2 weeks old, she brought them up onto my deck, I took them in, they never left...all 4 of them... LOLOL!
Do you dilute the alcohol at all when you clean the leaves? Loved the video! I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and never seen a gloriosum in a landscape unless it was a botanical garden but now I’m on the lookout! Haha.
I’ve been really struggling with my gloriosum since I’ve gotten it a year and half ago. It got some pretty bad root rot but I was able to get some cuttings from it incase I wasn’t able to save it. I saved it and got 2 more plants from it but none of them have done that much for me! It grows super slow for me. Not sure if it’s the watering schedule I’ve made for it (once every 2 weeks) or what. My roommate watered it twice within 2 weeks and a leaf is yellowing! I love this plant so much but it just has such a hard time growing for me.
i made the mistake of putting my Philodendron gloriosum in a hot car to get groceries and with in not even an hour of being in the car its leafs got burned then it burned its leafs in the window.I now have it tucked in under bigger plants and its now starting to grow back
Alocasias need a lot of frequent fertilising. Younger alocasia also tend to lose a leaf after a new leaf grows. When the trunk develops, they can develop more leaves. Don't cut the dying leaves - the plant will draw nutrients out of the leaf to the healthy parts of the plant.
My verrucosum is thriving and that’s what is working for me : No bright direct light, give it enough light but not direct on the leaves or give it morning light or such which can be tolerated by the plant. It’s a plant that is pretty forgiving concerning watering but it tends to like it moist, so aerate the soil and keep it kinda moist, but you also need to let the soil dry a bit sometimes to prevent root rot. You can give it a moss pole or some bamboo sticks to hold it in place. Good drainage is important Dust it’s leaves, spider mites are pretty common on philodendrons. And most importantly, I tend to leave it alone, and it does wonderfully well. Hope that helped 🙂
If these plants are so easy to propagate why are they soo expensive (expensive for a regular plant person like me who cant afford or want to spend more than 40 on a 6 in pot). In my area one or two leaves in a small pot are $150 Canadian.
Your cat contrasted so nicely with the plant when she came to visit. I might need to get a black cat to go with my Gloriosum.

Omg that’s reassuring! I just got a baby one with 3 leaves. Hopefully they will get bigger. Is there anything you did to promote larger leaves?
This Philodendron is beautiful; definitely GLORIOUS as its name implies....

Very nice! I found a really handy long, narrow, rectangular pot to put mine in so I won't have to repot it too often!

Two of my fav UA-camrs made a philodendron gloriosum care vids, and I want one. Is this a sign??

Shameless Muffin all like “who cares about those glorious leaves, check out my butthole!” ❤️
Have you ever thought about growing it on a moss pole or a stake?
Hi I have a question. My glorioum when it grow a new leaf the old one dies. I was wondering if it because it need a bigger pot? Or it something else
i made the mistake of putting my Philodendron gloriosum in a hot car to get groceries and with in not even an hour of being in the car its leafs got burned then it burned its leafs in the window.I now have it tucked in under bigger plants and its now starting to grow back
Love a green leaf and a black cat
when you add sphagnum moss are you top dressing the plant or actually mixing that moss in the soil mix?
I 💖 Muffin!!!😻
muffin is a star.
Yesss love a good muffin moment
Goals 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
do you have a recommendation for humidifiers?
My alocasias and gloriosum always have 2 leaves, the moment 1 leaf come, 1 goes , roots are healthy . Can some1 help plssss

Can you do philodendron verrucosum? I killed one in the past and now my second verrucosum is struggling 😂
