  • My first ever episode! Pardon the loud music please...
    An extensive (and successful) Philodendron Gloriosum propagation experiment in both water and straight into soil. This technique applies to nearly all philodendrons/monsteras by the way... Also, an 8 weeks update is shown in the last portion of the video so don't miss out on that! I'm new to this channel so if you want to see more content like this please like, comment, and subscribe. Also, if you have a different technique or experience please do share, as I am constantly learning and growing. Thanks!

    This is the first time I heard that leaves give off a hormone on the water to promote rooting, and not to change the water too often or give them too much water. I love that you are teaching by showing, and sharing the science. I'm a nerd about these things, too. Thanks for doing these videos!

    wow this was more than a year ago! such a huge difference in your video style, but this was a good start! my gloriosum came in pafcal/pumice with super dry roots, shrivelled off, some broke off too but not mushy so i suspect it was underwatered for some time.... so i'm rehabbing it in water/leca now, but based on your comments it seems like it will do well in moss! hope i can grow it close to your size :)

    The water needs to be changed frequently as the roots need oxygen, every 3 to five days. Stagnant water will not promote root growth.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 роки тому

      Oh no I find they root better when you dont change the water out often. This is because they release a natural rooting hormone in the water to encourage root growth. They are also adapted to the conditions of the water. Changing too often can undo that. Of course theres pros and cons to this… but in my environment I see a world of difference when I dont change the water out. However, keep in mind everyones environments are unique, its best to try both as an experiment and see what works in your space 😀
