As I look back at the experience, I did place a lot of trust in them, but they were lovely to work with and I can't say anything negative about the experience.
The original decor is much nicer, but then again, the set designers might not have been trying to achieve the most attractive design. Perhaps a bit bland and dated was what they were going for!

Wow, that was so interesting to see. Thanks for showing us. I worked in Tarrytown aka Sleepy Hollow during the filming of The Good Shepard. It was amazing to see them transform Main Street for the scene. The parking meters were removed, and vintage cars brought in. Our office was right there, so we were able to watch out the window.
It is an amazing process to watch.

There is so much to love here. Color excites the imagination. It makes me feel alive. I have never understood people with white furniture who move into a house with white walls and consider themselves done. That is why l enjoyed this video so much, with its beautifully coordinated color schemes.

Hi Mary, I had a subscription to House Beautiful for many, many years and still have most from the 80-90’s. Somewhere during the new decades, the magazines went in another direction and I no longer got their magazine. My husband encourages me to “get rid” of the old issues, but my comment to him is “good design is timeless.” This book you featured peaked my interest and I will explore again. I would never chance turning your home, even if only for a few weeks, upside down but you are braver than I. So, watching the video again this morning because there's so much to learn & see & I guess I missed your adorable ginger tabby while watching yesterday but had to comment upon seeing him/her. We had a ginger tabby and he still lives in our hearts and minds. They have so much personality and are a constant source of joy.
That is Roscoe, and he is equal parts stinker and sweetheart! 😺Pets are such a joy, and I too, have several that live on in my heart and mind.

Your videos are such an inspiration. I’ve been combing used book stores for these books. Can’t find any. Guess I’ll have to pay full price but it looks like it’s worth it.

Few actors play a villain like Donald Sutherland. I remember, in the 80s, watching Keifer Sutherland in "Stand By Me" and "The Lost Boys" thinking the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. They can both put a chill down my spine. Both of those movies are great.
No doubt set designers are talented, but your design/decor is sooo much better! You are brave. I don't think I would allow someone free reign in my home.🙋♀️
Yes- I had reservations, but they promised to return everything back to the way it was and compensate for any damages. I moved all my china and special antiques myself, but left everything else to them. They were true professionals (and paid well 😉).

You may have Coco Chanel’s home in a book? One of her home’s is being restored by Escape to Rural France on UA-cam. I would love to know what Books or if House Beautiful ever showcased Coco Chanel please. I love Salk and House Beautiful. I never subscribed before. I fear I would not throw any copies away!!
My mother has every Colonial Home, Southern Living and AD that she has ever received. It's funny because she still refers to them as one would a giant reference book. I have never seen a book on the homes of Coco Chanel, but i will look.

Your way you ave it is beautiful the set designers was yuck ! Very dreary and depressing. I wouldn’t want to have stayed there .

The décor was temporary for filming the pilot. They changed everything back to the way I had it. I agree it was dark, but it fit into the genre of the movie.
These colours are No No. May be in a Art Gallery or showroom. Not in a home.
