@@andreazhab debatable, while Arrows are muuuuch better in yink's favor, boomerang has more hitstun, better angle and less DI-able, tink's bombs come out faster, explode easier when contacting surfaces, so even if you miss by a little bit they can hit your opponent, have better knockback angle, better hitbox, better hitstun and less DI-able again, plus since they last longer without exploding you can mix them better, add tink's better ground/air speed and range and you have better follow ups, as for tilts, while yink's up tilt doesn't combo tink's does, and the other way around with down tilt. So imo Tink has far better confirms (plus better kill power) and 2 to 3 hit combos, but yink has better and longer damage strings, with higher damage output with each individual attack and a lot better pressure with the reduced landing lag and falla speed/short hop that he has.
@@chocobovonhauske8518 Tink is super floaty and, while he does have better kill power than Yink, he has a lot less kill setups and/or confirms because of the lack of low hitstun moves (yink has fair1, bair1, fire arrows, grounded spin attack) and his moves have much more diagonal knockback, which makes it a lot harder to pull out combos from. Yink's knockbacks are mostly vertical and near him and arrows has a LOT of hitstun, while still making the opponent travel a short distance even at higher percentages. This is why Yink is the best at followups: he has insane damage but low knockbacks while having a lot of kill setups (also, their range is identical). What Tink has in its favor is less ending lag in its grounded moves, more kill power and a kill throw (even though Yink can kill with uthrow and fthrow at the ledge at higher percentages), a better zoning potential thanks to his bigger and long-lasting projectiles, but he relies too much on uptilt to combo and that fails to do so at mid to high percentages. Also, the fact that bombs explode immediately is not necessarily a better thing: it doesn't allow him to set ledge traps that Yink can do by z-dropping bombs at the ledge
I think it's awesome that they're both in the same Smash Bros. game as separate characters. Think I prefer using Young Link a little bit more; as I very much missed his playstyle from Melee. I like Toon Link but wish his down-air bounced him back up like it did in Brawl and his new Fsmash always throws me off since I got used to him always doing two strikes. Great video! Please do more!
As a Young Link main, I agree. Toon Link's F-tilt hits behind him and comes out faster, Yink's boomerang does more damage the closer Yink is to the opponent along with more knockback. Toon Link is heavier and his grounded attacks have less start-up and end lag. Yink's bombs don't hurt no matter how close you are if they hit the enemy, and because of their shorter fuse they're better for recovering and since they explode faster Yink will be able to pull out more during the same time. Toon Link's bombs are better for ledge-trapping with their longer fuse and bigger explosion. Toon Link's spin attacks comes out faster and kills grounded while Yink's travels up wards more making it kill in the air rather than the ground. There's a lot to cover between the two.
He also didn’t focus that toon link’s grounded up b comes out 3 frames faster than young link’s. And the combo potential toon link has with any of the moves. Listening to the video itself, he makes toon link sound like one of the worst characters in the game
He talks about Young Link more since he is a newer character technically, and people would like to know about him more since Toon has been here since Brawl and Young was only here for Melee, which he wasn't popular in, and Ultimate, where he is currently the strongest Link.
Missed out how Young Link's Spin Attack actually has combo potential like up b (Spin Attack) to up air Nice how u pointed how they're not considered echoes. Would be nice to see u do Doc and Pichu as they also have a similar case as Young Link since people think these 2 should be considered echoes when they too also play and feel too differently from Mario and Pika
Like the content, but I feel it would work best with a sister series with the same analysis on the actual echos. I honestly feel that Roy and Chrom have more differences than Pichu and Pikachu, for example.
The differences between Chron and Roy are : The fire effects for Roy, the sweet/sour spots damage for Roy's sword (Chrome don't have sweet/sour spots damage with his sword) and obviously the Up special. For Pichu and Pikachu : The height (Pichu is the lightest character of the game), their speed, their size, the electric self-damage of Pichu, the damage of their attacks, the distance of their Side and Up special (the Up special of Pichu don't do any damage to opponents) and a lot of other things. So it's why Chrom and Roy are echoes fighter and not Pichu and Pikachu
@@AlexEXE "as a roy and pika main" i know that other than Roy having more damage on the hilt and less on the blade, while Chrom's is consistent, their jab animation is actually slightly different. this. If I remember correctly, Chrom's animation goes slightly higher because of the way his elbow is positioned or something. I'm pretty sure a few of their other moves are like this too, one being forward tilt. Something that is very jarring for a roy main when playing chrom is his side special, double edge dance which is much less consistent than Roy's, probably due to not having the extra weaker hitboxes to keep the target close. Also, Chrom has more super armour on soaring slash, ten frames (1/6 of a second) and Roy has less on Blazer, although Blazer's armour begins earlier and the move also has one frame of intangibility. their taunts are different lol As for Pika and Pichu, it's a lot harder to make a definitive list of the changes in a UA-cam comment, and quite frankly, their different enough to the point where I cant bounce between the two like I can Roy and Chrom. The big differences though are their neutral airs are completely different, Pichu's dtilt sends straight up with seemingly less KBG, while Pika's sets Up for a tech situation at mid percents and can trip. Pichu does self damage Thunder seems faster on Pichu, and I think Pichu's always sends the same way while Pika's is determined by what side the opponent is on. Agility doesn't have knockback or damage, unlike Pika's Quick Attack. Due to the way Pichu's back air works, it's more useful as a move but both of the rats have amazing back airs. there's probably a lot more to the two of them..
A difference in the final smash of toon link and young link is that young links hit box is activated during the zoom in part.toon links starts right after the animation making it easier to air dodge than young links.Nice vid btw!
Great video, I'd definitely love to see more. It'd be especially useful for me as some who tries to train amiibos of characters I don't really specialize in.
3:56 Also Toon Links is a reference to the final fight against Ganondorf instead of it being a reference to Zelda two, the difference is that Toon link impales Ganondorf and turns him to stone while The link from Zelda two is doing a Shovel knight and strangely young links doesn’t spike? But I think that would have it so it looks more like Zelda two
No, it's still a reference to Zelda 2. In Brawl it didn't go straight down and instead acted just like Link's. The only reason they changed it was to add another difference between them.
There are so many basic/common differences on this two Links! Whoever was thinking they didn't have differences must be a Zelda Neutral Special Spammer.
Nintendo is attempting to make bigger differences between the Links. Link has a new bomb, hits very hard and his projectiles work differently from before, however they couldn't change him much since he was predicted to be the most popular Link so they kept his move-set the same. Tink cannot be a faster, smaller Link like before since Yink was coming back and he was the first smaller Link back in Melee, so they changed him to make him unique and not the same like in his other games. Yink is the oldest Link, so he's gonna embody the way Link used to play but still make the way he played unique to him, with classic two and three hit smash attacks, old style bombs and the like.

Young Link is my favorite along with Breath of the Wild Link (which is now the regular Link in Smash Ultimate), I never really cared for Toon Link to be honest. 5:02 😂 I want CDI Link in Smash Ultimate. +Alex EXE. Do you think you can do Mario and Dr. Mario next?
Honestly, looking at all the Links now, I think I can nail down exactly what each of the 3 Links is more geared towards. Regular Link is more about stage control and range. His attacks and smashes have (for obvious reasons) longer reach, while also a pretty decent amount of damage (at least in my eyes). His specials are where it gets a lot more obvious, with his boomerang having the longest reach and fastest return speed, his arrows travelling the farthest and the fastest, and his bombs being centered towards high range, pretty good knockback. Young Link looks to be geared towards combos and close-combat control. He deals quick attacks with great follow up potential, allowing him to get enemies to high percents much quicker than the other Links. This is even represented in his bombs, with them having such a short fuse that they can only be good for a quick combo, leaving no real control over the stage. His arrows are geared towards higher damage up front, without caring too much about its knockback since it's best as a combo starter. Toon Link is best suited for strong attacks. With him having strong single strikes, and his specials being a bit slower and floatier. His entire moveset is floatier, and he lacks control in his dair. His playstyle doesn't need to be focused on control and combos if he just hits strong. He can even intimidate a bit with his bomb, since it has the 5 second fuse. I've heard Toon Link's hitstun is also considerably longer than young Link's (and possibly Link's, but I haven't looked in detail at the hitstun), which would account for his slow movements. This is all probably why most people will say Toon Link is the weakest link, since he just doesn't quite have the control that the other 2 do. That said, he is most definitely a force to be reckoned with, but sacrificing that control is a big turn off to a lot of players (me included)
All good points here, but Link has the highest killpower out of all of them, and another thing to note is that all of Young Links projectile will do more damage than the other Links. His arrows have the fastest charge time and will travel quicker more consistently without needing any commitment and can juggle enemies from afar, and his boomerang has the highest damage and knockback out of all of them as well. His bombs like you said are used for setting up or following through with combos but with their shorter fuse they will be pulled out much quicker than any other Link. Young Links' bombs also do have ledge trapping potential as well since they only explode when thrown with the smash stick or hitting any enemy with it, meaning you can Z-drop his bombs and cover ledges and backing off an enemy.
If you do more of these videos, then can you talk more about how the differences affect their gameplay? Like how the strengths/weaknesses differ, and just how they feel. Because you can tell us what is different about them, but we won’t understand why those differences matter, which I think is more important. Still a good video regardless though.
As a tink player, I went through and compiled a list of differences that you missed/things that were unclear. Toon Link's forward tilt has an almost straight horizontal kb angle against aerial opponents, so it can send people ad a very difficult to recover from angle, it also has less lag Toon Link's up tilt has noticeably less lag than yinks, giving it amazing combo potential Yinks fair has a lot more startup than tink's, but the way the gif is shown in the video makes it look otherwise Tink's upair also kills a lot earlier than yinks does
Toon Link's F-Tilt also hits opponents on ledge and hits behind him. Coming from a Young Link main, Toon Link has less end lag on his grounded attacks and more horizontal knockback, while Young Link has more vertical knockback and no lag at all on his aerials, and he has less knockback overall except a few moves meaning he racks up damage faster than almost any other character in the game.
I feel the biggest difference between Young Link and Toon Link is their overall play style and game plan. Tink focuses on zoning and set ups with his amazing bombs and arrows while Yink is more of a rush down character. Either way both Links are really good and accomplish different things.
They’re even close enough to be echoes, if anything, young link is much closer to regular link than toon. I use toon because he’s faster, can damage pretty fast, has very good defense and offense, and can actually kill unlike young link. His forward air is also way stronger. Also being a toon link main there are sooo many more differences with their attacks but you did you’re best
Young Link can kill, and at around lower percentages than you think. He's just way more technical, and uses combos to kill almost entirely. Down tilt, Up tilt, Boomerang, Bombs and Fire Arrows all are used to setup his kill moves like Up Special and Forward Air. Just from my experience, a good Yink main will be able to rack upwards of 40% on their combos and kill around 100% or slightly higher. If you can't combo with Yink or land any aerials that's when he struggles to kill. But you can also just use down air to kill around 120% or so since you can use it from short-hops with it's better control.
The link's in my opinion are how clone characters should be: using a similar moveset, but being different enough that each one has their own feel and techniques
I enjoy it, People don't know how to use it well. You can meteor smash people on the edge of the stage and live and it's a solid way to escape combos and land on someone spamming
This really wasn't a situation like Echoes. Their differences are rather easy to point out: -Young Link excels in combo viability, grounded movement, and overall better frame data on his normals and specials -Toon Link excels in aerial mobility, kill potential and keepaway since he's quick, floaty, and has good projectiles all-around
These are good points, but their projectiles are ranked based on how they work with the character, not damage or speed or range. Although Yink has the shorter range out of all the Links his projectiles work the best for his kit, all of them setting up his kill moves and juggling better from afar, letting him move in since Yink is more of a rush-down character than Tink. His boomerang has the most damage and knockback out of all the Links, his bombs have the best stun since they hit 4 times and his arrows charge the fastest meaning they will consistently fly faster and farther during a match. Tink is a bit more floaty in the air making his aerial combat the easiest and most consistent, along with having more knockback on his grounded spin attack and throws. I think a more insightful difference to tell others without going into much detail is that Tink is easier to use and kill with, while Yink has the best combos out of all the Links and requires the most skill to use well and succeed.
4:07 No One Gonna Mention how young link basically flashed his underwear i aint a pervert but i can tell there was nothing different about those up airs
Young link is basically what regula rlink used to be, but with more of a focus on combos. All his attacks are meant for you to rack up damage quickly. Toon link, zones a lot more, and uses the projectiles to let him get in his beefier hits. Also why his jump is much more floaty. So you can hang in the air and get an attack in if the boomerang or bomb hits. Young link is better tho.

They're _really_ different characters..
People are just frustrated that the echo fighter concept basically got wasted.

I personally enjoy playing Toon Link more. His special moves in my opinion better for to me for some follow ups since they're so slow and campy in a way.
Not at all, Yink is the one who has more followups
He is built around low knockback for combos, while Tink is about zoning
@@andreazhab That's fine, but like I said in my comment, "imo". I prefer Tink for a lot of reasons.
@Red Sprite 01001100 YOu suCk
As a Toon Link main since brawl don’t think you covered enough of the differences
It's a hard life for us Toon link mains.
I honestly Main Toon Link because I think he’s more adorable

He talks about Young Link more since he is a newer character technically, and people would like to know about him more since Toon has been here since Brawl and Young was only here for Melee, which he wasn't popular in, and Ultimate, where he is currently the strongest Link.
He also doesnt talk about how you can tap down again with young link to make his Down air sink fast.

Nice how u pointed how they're not considered echoes. Would be nice to see u do Doc and Pichu as they also have a similar case as Young Link since people think these 2 should be considered echoes when they too also play and feel too differently from Mario and Pika
This is the first video I have seen of yours, and I loved it! Thanks for covering this, and I look forward to seeing mire of your videos
Like the content, but I feel it would work best with a sister series with the same analysis on the actual echos. I honestly feel that Roy and Chrom have more differences than Pichu and Pikachu, for example.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind - I'd be open to doing a video like this for Roy and Chrom as well!
You "FEEL" it...
But what you "FEEL" is wrong, doe.
The differences between Chron and Roy are :
The fire effects for Roy, the sweet/sour spots damage for Roy's sword (Chrome don't have sweet/sour spots damage with his sword) and obviously the Up special.
For Pichu and Pikachu :
The height (Pichu is the lightest character of the game), their speed, their size, the electric self-damage of Pichu, the damage of their attacks, the distance of their Side and Up special (the Up special of Pichu don't do any damage to opponents) and a lot of other things.
So it's why Chrom and Roy are echoes fighter and not Pichu and Pikachu
@@AlexEXE
"as a roy and pika main"
i know that other than Roy having more damage on the hilt and less on the blade, while Chrom's is consistent, their jab animation is actually slightly different.
Also, Chrom has more super armour on soaring slash, ten frames (1/6 of a second) and Roy has less on Blazer, although Blazer's armour begins earlier and the move also has one frame of intangibility.
their taunts are different lol
As for Pika and Pichu, it's a lot harder to make a definitive list of the changes in a UA-cam comment, and quite frankly, their different enough to the point where I cant bounce between the two like I can Roy and Chrom.
The big differences though are their neutral airs are completely different, Pichu's dtilt sends straight up with seemingly less KBG, while Pika's sets Up for a tech situation at mid percents and can trip.
Pichu does self damage
Thunder seems faster on Pichu, and I think Pichu's always sends the same way while Pika's is determined by what side the opponent is on.
Agility doesn't have knockback or damage, unlike Pika's Quick Attack.
Due to the way Pichu's back air works, it's more useful as a move but both of the rats have amazing back airs.
there's probably a lot more to the two of them..
Lynxano I’m pretty sure both of their thunders launch the direction you’re facing, regardless of which side the opponents on.

I believe young links forward tilt don't hit from behind while toon links does
This is a really good series, there are a few subtle things I wasn't aware of
3:56 Also Toon Links is a reference to the final fight against Ganondorf instead of it being a reference to Zelda two, the difference is that Toon link impales Ganondorf and turns him to stone while The link from Zelda two is doing a Shovel knight and strangely young links doesn’t spike? But I think that would have it so it looks more like Zelda two
No, it's still a reference to Zelda 2. In Brawl it didn't go straight down and instead acted just like Link's. The only reason they changed it was to add another difference between them.
Sompursone no it does still function like his ultimate down air just it doesn’t hop like before after it hit
From Smash 4 onwards it references the Down Thrust from The Minish Cap that could be performed with Roc's Cape and right Tiger Scroll.
There are so many basic/common differences on this two Links! Whoever was thinking they didn't have differences must be a Zelda Neutral Special Spammer.
I wonder why toons forward smash got changed in ultimate it felt so weird after being so used to that double attack smash From 4
Nintendo is attempting to make bigger differences between the Links.

MagcargoMan The echoes aren’t meant to be separate fighters, that’s why their called echoes in the first place. You and everyone else who plays the game knows this, and you criticizing them for not being completely different is just being ignorant of that fact. Some people just want to play their favorite character and echoes made it easier to include more people preferences. I don’t understand why you’re so offended by this. Not to mention that the small differences in echo fighters and their counterpart can completely change how they are played, like with Marth and Lucina.

Toon Link’s down air also has a small wind effect which pushes your opponent away from you if you miss your opponent at close range
I loved this video. I would love to see a the same comparision video between Dr.Mario and Mario. I find those two the most interesting.
Young does quite a bit more damage than Toon for, I want to say, all of his moves
If you do more of these videos, then can you talk more about how the differences affect their gameplay? Like how the strengths/weaknesses differ, and just how they feel. Because you can tell us what is different about them, but we won’t understand why those differences matter, which I think is more important. Still a good video regardless though.
I can give you some explanations if you want? I main Young Link and know everything about both of their kits.
I honestly feel like young link and regular link have more in common, but that's just me
Link and Yink have the same smash attacks, while Yink and Tink only share the Down smash and bombs.
Love videos like this. Keep it coming!
I feel like bc Toon Link's attacks knock them back horizontally he's more of a distanced fighter whereas Young Link is more of a combo fighter.
Yeah, Tink is a zoner whereas Yink is a rushdown fighter.
As a tink player, I went through and compiled a list of differences that you missed/things that were unclear.
Toon Link's forward tilt has an almost straight horizontal kb angle against aerial opponents, so it can send people ad a very difficult to recover from angle, it also has less lag
Toon Link's up tilt has noticeably less lag than yinks, giving it amazing combo potential
Yinks fair has a lot more startup than tink's, but the way the gif is shown in the video makes it look otherwise
Tink's upair also kills a lot earlier than yinks does
Toon Link's F-Tilt also hits opponents on ledge and hits behind him.
Yink?
Oh...
As a toon link main I finally have something to share with my friends
Small difference that wasn't mentioned, Toon link's ftilt hits behind him and can hit opponents on the ledge while Ylink's cannot at all.
Great video and yes please also young link is my choice
Actually, Young link uses kicks djring his final smash as well
Serouj Ghazarian no he doesn’t he just moves his legs a bit
I love the song at the end of the video, it reminds my childhood playing for hours Mega Man Legends
i'd play toon link but the down air going straight down immediately is something i dislike
I enjoy it, People don't know how to use it well. You can meteor smash people on the edge of the stage and live and it's a solid way to escape combos and land on someone spamming
@@LightGameplays the problem is counters and platforms catch him out
This really wasn't a situation like Echoes. Their differences are rather easy to point out:
-Young Link excels in combo viability, grounded movement, and overall better frame data on his normals and specials
-Toon Link excels in aerial mobility, kill potential and keepaway since he's quick, floaty, and has good projectiles all-around
It's short shorts. :P
0:44 ever heard of the word heavier?
50% of all Zelda characters are versions of Link.
