That's crazy what happens when the believe all women garbage comes out and the me to movement did nothing but spread false accusations and everybody believed it. That's the society we lived in. Because people enable this kind of behavior and if a woman says something that must make it automatically true. It's disgusting and the accusers who falsely accused men of awful things should honestly face the imprisonment in time that a man would have faced had he been found guilty.

I’m going to play devils advocate a bit here: It’s unfortunate that Alex has had to go through all this and yes Pvris should definitely issue an apology and should he want to have his old spot back it should be given back to him with the proof of his innocence. BUT what they did was the survival of the band pure and simple, Pvris aren’t some bulletproof known to the world band and having one of the members be an accused rapist (even if proved to be slander now) would have killed any chance of shows, albums or anything else they may have wished to work on. By standing by Alex publicly Lynn and Brain would have been unable to support themselves financially (at the end of the day making music is their job) and likely never would have been able to make music again and if they did the murmurs of “that person supports rapists” would have followed them forever.
The argument “they should have stood by him” is easy to say when you’re not the one faced with the possibility of not being able to feed, clothe and shelter yourself because you as a band/artist is blacklisted for bad publicity, bigger celebrities have been brought down by this.

I get what you’re saying and in the end it’s what makes them look good or professional.. although they could have spoken with him privately and have him suspended from the band until the case was fully resolved. I think they were quick to jump the gun. They could have stood by him and let the public know that no further action will be taken until the case had been settled.

@@johnbotelho3453 unfortunately we live in a society where that would be seen as a half measure and would have had the same outcome that if they did nothing, much like the whole issue of people being guilty until proven innocent in the public eye now if you don’t do enough to satisfy the mob then you may as well do nothing because they still going to metaphorically crucify you for it. They kick him out the band can easily just say “we ditched him, not our problem” but suspending him just ends up with everyone demanding they be kicked out anyway and you still end up with the negative press your band is trying to avoid: ragebait articles, propaganda and protesting outside of venues because you’re seen to be sympathetic to an accused rapist (yet again proven false now) and much like people who are accused of these sorts of crimes (people proven innocent, the ones who are proven guilty should be tossed onto a remote island away from the rest of us personally speaking) it doesn’t matter how long or how far you’ve moved away from them there’s always going to be people who believe you did it or in the case of the band that you endorse that sort of behaviour, basically a death sentence to their careers that are pretty much completely based on public opinion.

K so there's a fair bit i want to say. First and foremost, as a survivor of years of some pretty horrific and violent sexual assaults from the ages of at least 4 (the earliest one i can remember, but there is evidence is started sooner) to about 13 when i was finally big enough to fight off my attacker myself, i am glad that bands are taking allegations such as these seriously. As they absolutely should. HOWEVER, until there is clear cut evidence, they remain just allegations and no one deserves to have their lives ruined over a false allegation. These bands need to stop being so quick on the trigger to release members of their bands, especially people who have otherwise given absolutely no indication they are capable of doing such things or that it's within their character, before real proof is given. I mean even i have known people falsely accused of sexual assault and stood by them even with my history because i knew their character and it did turn out to be false. If me with my history can do that, so can these bands.
I get as bands their income depends on fan support and they need to be aware that not releasing said member may take away support, as well as no good people want to support a rapist or sexual abuser, however there's gotta be another way to do this moving forward otherwise we are going to start seeing the exact opposite reaction from fans, i.e bands will lose support when they do let members go without evidence and that could create some very dangerous situations. Because every action as a reaction, the harder you push one way, the harder it's going to come pushing back. Maybe instead of out and out firing them, a sort of lay of system can be implemented into all bands contracts, where the member is given the time and space they need to fight the legal battle/clear their name and should they clear their name of those allegations then they are brought back into the band should that be something they (the accused) wish. Individuals who have ruined artist’s lives and careers like that, on the back of an attention-seeking toxic lie, need to be held absolutely legally accountable for their actions. An artist’s hard-earned career and personal character absolutely shattered. I hope he takes it further in court, in the professional manner he has done up to this point.
And when looking at the other members of PVRIS automatically disassociating with Alex (maybe it was the label, for business-sake - likely was), I hope their fans consider the outcome of this case - when looking at the big picture in terms of where they spend their money going forward.
Happened too many times, this cancel-culture against musicians in the music industry over the last few years, when 99% of the time it takes two to tango in these situations. This though, a blatant one-sided lie unfortunately.
Seen many artists within the music industry over the last few years emotionally and financially torn up because of a bored soft-minded/media-moulded individual(s) with nothing interesting going on in their own life - in terms of these band member allegations.
Yes, 100%, there are definitely incidents when it goes the other way and the gent must absolutely be taken to task for his actions. No doubt.
There need to be more stories like this shared.
With the likes of a Bad Omens and a Sleep Token members now being negatively, privately and personally impacted by bored people like this, I rate the spotlight need to be shone on these types of individuals for a while, be they male or female.
I’m not going to say its ‘unfair’, but what I’m going to say is that in 2024 we’ve come a long way, and rightly so, in working towards equality between ladies and gents. Although still not equal-enough in my eyes, there is a fine balance between managing that equality and letting it swing too far in the other direction (in a toxic sense). It will unfortunately be this way, naturally, in the normal course of a correction in anything, it’s just how we manage it (hopefully privately and professionally), like Alex has done here.
Anyways, thats my 2cents which means absolutely nothing to the universe, but it’s an equal playing field now and band members who have been falsely accused like this (be they lady or gent) need to push back with an equal and opposite force from now on. A shame that it’s the 0.0000001% that ruin it for the rest of the real fans and falsely-accused in question.
Too many bored and entitled people in 2024.
Thanks for what you do, Rock Feed. This was an important video to post. Appreciated.

I really hope that the next step Alex will sue Pvris for firing him for no good reason and with the money he receives he will be able to create another band or project. In any case, without Alex's guitar parts, Pvris turned into another soulless electronic pop project.
Actually, when Lynn excluded their bassist Brian from the band's line-up last year and made him just a "hired gun" on a salary, and made Pvris her solo project, I even began to suspect that maybe she organized that setup against Alex to seize power in the band.

I think there are two sides to this discussion, and people don't like hearing from the other side entirely because of HOW they are being empathetic.
If you want to stand up for victims of sexual assault and abuse, it's almost certainly because there's enough of it out there that's heartbreaking enough, and hell, you might know somebody who was assaulted/abused. So it's easier to say, "Nobody wants to believe, or turns a blind eye, so I'd rather believe the victim than wait to find the assaulter."
And on the OTHER side, it's more "but what if they're lying, and the real victim is the person who was accused?" And that's the sad thing... like, the ACTUAL answer to this issue isn't JUST to "wait for the evidence", it's to have a more nuanced approach... and to UNDERSTAND that people who have knee-jerk reactions to avoid sexual abuse accusations is because they don't want to hurt a victim... AND THEN, when innocence is proven, to put things right... OR - if the knee-jerk reaction is to have that person's back, for everyone to understand, "They're trying to take the more legal route and trust their friend, and then take action when necessary."
Otherwise, you just have a third option, which is, "the standard protocol is to always seperate the bad-egg from the band, and realign when the results are in."
It's a very emotional topic. People have strong opinions. I don't think anyone is wrong for saying the band should have had Alex's back... but I also understand - just as he said himself - why the band parted with him.

It’s a lose lose situation. If it was reversed and he got to stay in the band and then was proven guilty of the allegations people would jump on the band for “defending/enabling his behavior”. Or if he stayed in the band and was proven innocent people would’ve hated on them until his innocence was proven. And then there would still be that stigma around the band that would push fans away. Regardless it’s really unfortunate what happened but now that his name is cleared I could see other big bands wanting him to join them.

I think that PVRIS absolutely should bring him back and apologize publicly. They were supposed to be his friend and like a brother to them. Because of his work, they've had success and they owe him that. But, that is if he even wants to be in that band again.
We've seen this many times in the music industry where people get accused of things that never happened and I'm not saying that everyone of them that gets accused is innocent, but this particular event is definitely an eye opener that needs to have awareness brought to it.
I had a family member that once accused my father of doing inappropriate things to her and consequently he was investigated for it by the police and when asked, I told the truth, my father was never the kind of person to do something inappropriate and other siblings also backed up those claims. The case was thankfully dropped. This kind of thing happens against men all the time unfortunately. As a musician, it makes me scared to be in a band, I don't want it to happen to me, and I'm also scared to be around women that I'm not already familiar with because of how often this shit happens.
I do stand with the victims of sexual misconduct and sexual abuse, but I don't believe in someone being guilty until they are proven guilty.
Bands need to stand together and stand by their bandmates until clarification is given. I'm getting tired of bands dropping people over this kind of thing without them actually knowing if its real or not.
Aiden Ellaz is another example of this, the old singer from Alpha Wolf. I don't know if all of the claims were cleared but the ones about the sexual abuse stuff were proven to be false, yet he had his name slandered hard and Dealer was shutdown quickly because of it and even after he was proven innocent, the band Dealer returned but from what I've seen, are unable to garnish much attention anymore.
When will it ever be enough.

The problem with situations like this is that PVRIS would have suffered as a group if they had kept him on at the time of the accusations. Sure, they could have stuck up and stood behind him, but a lot of the audience would have seen that as them covering for an abuser, which looks really bad. The court of public opinion doesn't necessarily care about the truth, only the perception of it. They didn't really have a choice but to remove him if they wanted to continue.
Now that the dust has settled on this situation and we know the truth. It reflects poorly on them in retrospect, which sucks for everyone because most likely this isn't going to change the fact that Alex is out of the job, and that PVRIS looks bad for making (arguably) the right decision at the time with where they were at in their careers.

  • @hymerdl1

It's really easy to get mad at the band, but from their perspective, they would have been vilified by hive minded mob for not axing him. Which means no record deal, no tours/shows, no merch sales, they would have collectively all floundered financially just for covering his ass. It would have been career suicide for all of them. I'm not saying they morally did the right thing but i imagine being in a band that's starting to taste success after years of hard work and dedication just to see it go up in flames... They just cut him off to try to give themselves a chance. Lorna Shore did the same thing when their first big hit "Immortal" came out with their previous vocalist CJ Mcreary, whose allegations were also proven false (the SA ones, anyway).

IMO someone found to be falsely accusing a person of a crime should face the same punishment that the accused would have faced if they actually did it. The girl in this case walks away with absolutely zero repercussions while Alex still has his career and reputation permanently damaged regardless of the fact that he has legal documentation ostensibly proving his innocence. Taking allegations seriously is an absolute must, but no one should blindly believing OR dismissing the accuser. Shitty situation all around, and I hope Alex can find some way to gain back those lost years.

This is the exact reason why so many people instantly doubt women when they come out with accusations. 99% of the time, they are FALSE! And the employers of the accused are just as scummy for not even having the decency to wait for even one shred of factual evidence to come out before passing judgment. They are only looking out for themselves and wanting to quickly distance themselves from the people who might put their name in a bad light for a moment. Im happy that he is exonerated and the girl admitted she lied. Now we need a public apology from his former band members. Nothing will ever undo the damage that girl caused, and if you take a look at someone like Ronnie, even when the truth is plain and clear for all to see, it won't matter because the internet has made up its mind and even false accusations are concrete proof to them that you're trash. PVRIS could have told Alex to take a leave until they learned more about the situation and then decided accordingly what to do instead of just firing him but I can't really fault them, that's how society works now, everyone is guilty before they are innocent, not the other way around and now PVRIS is in a pickle. What a sad and despicable human being. The damage that this did to Alex's life, career, and mental health is possibly irreversible. Just an accusation alone can cause someone to lose absolutely everything. I hope she pays for this and he's able to sue her and she receives jail time.
