You're not alone growing up with nu-metal
lol, yeah no sh!t Sherlock, it was an insanely popular genre back in the mid to late 90s/early 2000s. I would know I went to Ozzfest every year back then and it was mostly just nu metal bands until around 2004.
I would assume that McGrath is married so of course he ain't admitting shit. Lol
pure shite on my boot.
@@EJH-jn6mo Why do you say that?
If you grew up in that time, then yes, we all did.
The best part of the way we grew up was MTV actually played a variety of artists, therefore we like a variety of music
I definitely was in that era right after grunge(and still love bands & jams from both eras). And congratulations on the publicity! You & the channel deserve it!
I've been laughing about this all day lol
big ups for being a fan of Sugar Ray, too. anyone who does songs with KRS-One is alright in my book. and shout out to Finn McKenty! yall plus Tank and Nik are my favorite music channels
@@ghost_to_a_ghostthank you! All great channels and friends. Much respect.
Haha. Im like
In tears laughing. Good times. 90s
Omg 😂 how random. I love it
I was about 13-15 during that aforementioned magical era in rock. Fact: I was wearing a KoRn "Follow the Leader" shirt in my 9th grade yearbook photo in 1999, and I had glasses and a scowl on my face like the stereotypical Chudjak meme. I'll share it eventually.
Wow, that's so cool bro. How long was the bus that took you to school?
@@nak5eno616 As long as the bus that drove me to your mom's house last night.
That Era kicked ass!! 🤘🤘🤘
It was terrible.
You're my only source of rock news that I vibe with. Keep up the good work man!
This was too perfect lol Thank you for making my day.
Your comment and Mark's response made it on the radio here in Sacramento, CA!!
😂
Love the Nu-Metal genre and as far as Sugar Ray their Lemonade and Brownies album with the song 10 Seconds Down was great, loved that song!
Another great video from two amazing channels!
I'm 51 (as of the 25th) and the 80s era rock will always be my favorite style of music BUT... I literally just love music in general and there's something from every type of music I can get behind! I can usually be found listening to something different all the time. Usually rock or metal but I'm quite unpredictable! 🤘🏼💙
So?
My friend was into wake boarding. I ended up a Sugar Ray fan cause they had 4 songs from Lemonade and Brownies in some random wake boarding video I watched at my friends house.
Both of your channels are great!
More of this, please!
Love both you guys. Almost spat out my morning coffee at the depth of your investigative journalistic integrity. 💗
Dave Mustaine replied to me just once about a comment I made here on Rock Feed about system of a down just compromising about song writing, I was kinda shocked but I told him he was right and would probably know better but to get a reply from MEGADETH'S Dave Mustaine was super cool, so thank you to Rock Feed for that
LMFAO! BEST vid yet!! You 2 are HILARIOUS!
Dude i absolutely love your work,i am from Serbia and i grow up listening with Limp Bizkit,Slipknot,Linkin Park when i was 12,13 and all you can by back in my country was cassetes because we been through sanctions and wars,i listen that music every day, sorry for my bad english, greetings !
Most don't know that SUGAR RAY was as heavy as PANTERA and RATM but with a DJ before they got signed. I saw them open for STEVE VAI at TREES in DALLAS in like '96-'97-ish. I was pumped to get their first album. Then I heard the 1st single and was like "WTF IS THIS GARBAGE? THIS ISNT WHAT I SAW LIVE" and then kids, I knew money was king.
It was like night and day...
It was like someone close to you died...
It was like, all around the world statues crumbled for me...
😐
This is Exactly the Humor needed in Rock music right now!
90’s- what a GREAT time to be alive!
💯
The Best 💯
What was so humorous about this?
We grew up in a time when all that music was popular. Constantly on the radio, in video games on our n64 or ps1, mtv when it still had music. TRL anyone? and it's associated with our memories from our youth. That is why it is special to us.
What?
Glad to be here
glad you're here!
Good times bro. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and JNCO'S . I wouldn't change a thing.
Lemonade and brownies is the best sugar ray . So different from the other CDs. 🤘
This cracks me up. Props to Mark McGrath for being a good sport. I'm still a big Sugar Ray fan
I'm from late 70s and the 80s. Saw over 100 concerts. And still go.
I know this isnt the southern rock channel "if there is one" but did you catch Skynyrd pre crash, I love all metal , grew up on nu metal but at the end of the day Skynyrd will always be my no. 1, I was 2 went they went down, well 7 days short of 2 oct 27,48 now and it still gives me chill bumps to see old recordings of them live, thats what its about.
@@danielhall-wl4ql great great band.
I admire how dramatic and clickbaiting this headline is.
Appreciate you mentioning Taker 🤘🏽
💯
Thanks for keeping this going we need this channel 🤘🏿👹😎🎸 Getcha Pull 🥃-Cheers 🍻
I LOVE FINN and the PUNKROCK MBA channel!!!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🍻🍻
Sugar Ray was Nu-Metal not many remember lemonade and brownies. a must own for any music collector.
I wonder what Cory Taylor thinks about it.....
Our generation got to mix it up and appreciate all the genres… and still feel metal. Love it
I was born in 88 I grew up in the same era and i love every band u named off its nostalgic for real!!
The Nu Metal era was a great time period. The diversity is what made it awesome
Absolutely. Many different bands and different sounds and even cross genre collaborations.
Big Shout out to the Punk Rock Mba and Brian Storm Rock Feed Collabo you guys frickin Rock!
This was great. The world needs more of this lmao
Seeing finn in this made my day!
😇
Oh yeah bro, 90’s to early 2000s were some amazing times in music! I grew up in the 90’s
Super great content 👏
Two of my fav youtubers on one show! Love it.
Was waiting for an outing announcement from McGrath, but this is funny too. Too personal or who cares? Exactly. Kid Sock? Tommy’s leftovers? Sorry Pam. It’s funny too. Oh look, squirrel!
Yep...I liked all those bands you mentioned. I was in my 20s during all that.
Finn is hilarious, I love that dude
I'm right there with you on that nu metal era. What's crazy is out of almost all my music my kids prefer most of my nu metal music
I’m with you about that era in the late 90s. It was definitely special time in music. Kind of like what we heard about the 60s when we were young, but better in my opinion🤘🤘
This is such a funny segment. I love Finn McKenty's super dry sense of humor.
☺
I still have Lemonade and Brownies, and Floored, in my regular music rotation.
We need a Rock Feed/Punk Rock MBA podcast. Let's make this a thing.
i was born in 1986 and grow up with 90,2000 music and nu metal ..linkin park limp bizkit and korn and grey daze and still love that music to this day
Kid rock nu metal?
Bawitdaba is definitely nu metal.
Yeah bawitaba or how ever the hell u spell it lol was my metal
@@RockFeed Shouldn't he be Kid Nu metal then? Lol
I did and thank you Misty from Tennessee👍
Woop woop
We also need a Mark McGrath interview!
I'm at work and I kid you not the cafeteria at work is playing sugar ray while I watch this 😂
Sugar Ray actually started out as a Nu Metal band with there songs Mean Machine Iron Mic , RPM and 10 Seconds Down
First two Sugar Ray albums are actually not quite so soft. I still remember hearing them on one of the Road Rash soundtracks.
Im 44 and i still have a love for nu metal most of the time im listening to Death metal,Thrash,Industrial,Punk etc
Limp Bizkit, Creed ,Slipknot, System of a down, Staind, Sevendust, Fuel, Godsmack, Incubus, Static-X, Snot, Soulfly, nu metal era- Machine Head, Adema, Drowning Pool, Saliva, and yes Kid Rock. This was an amazing era for metal and I'm glad to have experienced it!
Love new metal and all those bands too bro and loved sugar Ray and kid rock. Got to see kid rock on his cheap dates first kiss cd tour years ago and every seat was $20 and shirts were cheaper and if you bought $160 of merch you got a free poster I think it was. He was awesome live
You're nuts and I love it. Ambitious and talented. Simply something you seemed to have created out of thin air. Kudos! I saw KR in 99 with pm5k. All about that nu metal life. Thanks for doing what you do
I truly appreciate that!
If I can ask, The Hunger needs some spotlight and I think you'd be able to give it to them. They dominated in the 90s but helped pioneer nu metal
Will peep them!@@BobcatWolfenstein
I grew up doing nu-metal, too. Not that I dressed it really- I never was a style guy but I listened to a lot of it. My jam in middle to high school was Papa Roach. I was going, "Yeah, they're so profound. The things you own DO OWN YOU, dude! It's soo true. " *inhales* Now they're sort of the band I cringe the most at lyrically but musically they still check out, mostly.
I think you're going to like this. Back in the day Mark McGrath hosted 100 Most Shocking Moments in Rock and Roll History on VH1. I was like, "WTF is he doing hosting this? Sugar Ray is the least shocking band in history. LULZ." Well, I later learned that actually Mark McGrath is essentially a walking encyclopedia on rock and roll history. He apparently knows EVERYTHING. So I think actually that might be why he came on that show.
I like that story because props to him for boning up and being that much of a fan and that interested. I love rock and roll, too. The most devoted people in rock and roll to rock and roll other than Mark are probably Lou Reed and Lemmy Kilmister. Guys that absolutely go to the mat for it and metaphorically bleed it. KoRn did a video in which they were replaced by rappers as a commentary on how few rock videos were getting played at that time on MTV.
Mark McGrath- did not know he was a man of the people but I did and do know he has a sense of humor. Oh man, getting the 2 degrees of McGrath here. I can feel the energons.
Im 36 years old and I loved and still love numetal.
I'm a tad older, more into thrash, death and hair metal. i started getting confused on the emerging music scene in the mid 90s. while working on a film production for a commercial (i was a loser PA) the producers daughter approximately 13 years old was on set. she looked really hip and i had to ask her what is she into nowadays (because I was old and out of the loop, at age 25) she smiled showing her braces and without hesitation said to me "it's all about Mark McGrath". my eyes rolled at that not being a Sugar Ray fan myself at the time. I just shook my head and felt like the world chaged for the worse but carried on into the new world Mark McGrath then ruled in.
1999 was the year I seriously got into music.
That was our generation! The greatest. It's Generation X idgaf if everyone says it's not. If you were a 80s baby, you came up during the best time in music!! So glad I was able to live that Era. Hope we get to relive them day's
Amazing times!!!
Finn literally shaped my music taste over the years, I learned about so many great bands from his videos. Thanks!
🥰
Been watching this channel for a while. You've come a long way, especially if Kid is going to join the podcast. Good luck!
We didn’t grow up Nu-Metal: We ARE Nu-Metal🤟🏽⚡️
Good shout about all different Artists / Genres from this era, it’s true. I’m so old I recently listened to Sheryl Crow’s ‘All I Wanna Do’ for teenage nostalgia 😅😮💨
That era was great!!! It Changed everything. I miss it so much. 😢
I was listening to Kid Rock in 91 when he was rap. Grits Sanwiches... I was like 7-8 years old, my older sister would bring music to jam. I remember the Abdul Jabar Cut.
Hooters are my favourite Nu Metal band.😂
best restaurant on earth
@@RockFeedDamn right!
I was born in 1969, but I LOVE the era that you're talking about!!!
grew up on the radio. that era was great!
It is awesome growing up in a bad ass era with bangers in every genre. 🤘🏼
For a minute, I thought this was about Kid Rock's song in Osmosis Jones talking about statutory 🍇
What I like about Kid is that he tells it how he sees it and doesn’t give a shit about what anyone thinks about it. That’s an absolute badass in my book
Was a golden age in metal. Still a huge Deftones fan havnt missed a gig when they come to Australia.
This is a great video! 😂
Thank you!! 😁
now this is the important news
Absolutely it was a magical time. I was a teen in the 90s so I was right in the middle of it all😂😂😂
🎶Ain’t nobody gonna tell me how to live🎶🤣🤣🤣
Im glad you exist
Man that was my era.
rock n roll culture still lives 🤘🏽
im right with ya. im 53 and im a HUGE kid rock fan. i play the guitar and my biggest inspirations are kid rock, social distortion, and bands like pantera and then i love like rush and zepplin not to mention the old skool hip hop stuff like snoop dogg tupac and ice cube 50 cent but im of that era of metal rap fa sho
🎶and the puppies an drop the boogie🎶 Look JR puppies!!!! 😆🤣😂
Yes….Ive seen Kid Rock, love it!
Only God Knows Why is his best song for sure. Picture with Sheryl is second. two absolutely incredible country songs. 😎
Bro just dropped my home county aka Ashtabula Ohio lol 😂😂 I'm absolutely dying right now lol
As a Nebraskan, I can confirm a Tuesday night is not prime
All great bands!
Rock and Nu-Metal will never be the same after this union in internet history! Well done fellas! 😂
Add McGrath's and Ritchie's totals together, square it, and you'll get Prince's total for just the 1999 tour alone.
Korn must have been struggling after their first album. Because the first time I heard them. My local record store were giving away cassettes with 3songs from life is peachy on the tape. Same 3 songs both sides. it opened my ears to what is possible. And it was free at the counter.
That might have been a street team thing. Remember street teams??
Probably promo, couldn't be sold.
Kid Rock reminds me of a real life Joe Dirt, but I will say that despite the fact I don't particularly care for his music, he is one very talented musician and has earned and deserves the fame and success he's achieved.
Not really... Your right about his crap music though
Getting Pam in her prime is something that only a few can claim. Him and Tommy are Eskimo brothers
Bro Finn had to respond 😂😂
What about the Kid Rock lyrics?
"Young ladies, young ladies
I like 'em underage see
Some say that's statutory
(Joe C.) But I say it's MANDATORY!"
Nu Metal and 2000s rock forever! ❤ 🔥
yep 39 here youre not alone. Nu metal was my high school soundtrack.
